For tired eyes, get an anti-glare screen to put on monitor. Amazing difference. I had

:)

Reduce lighting and screen glare
You might need a screen for your computer monitor to cut down on glare, and/or wear the lightest sunglasses you can find or get a new prescription for glare. You can't get rid of them, but this seems to help. Of course being an MT can cause headaches also, lol
you're welcome - actually it's anti-glare screen.
nutso me *l* - it's an antiglare screen *cyberslaps self*  *lol*
Have you tried adjusting your monitor screen sm
up or down a hair or two? I bought a new monitor for Christmas and had headaches for a week before I realized it needed to go up about 1/4-1/2 inch. I moved it and the headaches went away. Just a thought.
Is this on the case or on the monitor screen? Why

I got a new monitor, flat screen, but
on getting it bigger and do I need to put the CD in that came with the monitor? Not my computer, it belongs to the company I work for.
how do I clean my flat screen monitor...
I have wiped it off very lightly, but something is smudged on it and I don't wanna ruin it!
It's a stain on the front of monitor screen. Sorry, DH

Anyone successful with full screen monitor sm
hooked connected to a laptop and how did you get it to work.  I have been trying to get my monitor and laptop to interact with one another, but no such look.  Can anyone help me with this?  I do not think I can look at this laptop screen all day.  Thanks!!
Is there a way to show caps locked on the monitor screen?

Or does it depend on the keyboard?  If it depends on keyboard, how can I program it to show up on my monitor in the bold green letters I have seen that some can do?  Anyone know?

I bought some on Ebay for $26 ;)
You might want to check there.  The person had an ebay store and many styles and all the ones I was considering were under $30.
I bought an Acer monitor from
Walmart for in November of 2007 and it went kaput in December of 2008.    Hope you have better luck.
I also bought an Acer monitor
from Wal-Mart 2+ years ago and I love it and it's still going strong.
I bought mine on Ebay but....

I would stay away from a seller by the name of xxelaborate1xx.  He sold me the professional version 8 which is wonderful, however, he does not send you the serial # with it. He wants you to instant message him so he can give it to you, then he wants you to give him code (a fingerprint of your computer) which is a big no no!  Out of curiosity I proceeded to activate my software the way he said and my Norton alert said NO!  It was a site that wanted personal information and contained viruses.  I think pirates these CDs then tries to get access to buyers computers to get personal info such as credit info, ssn, banking, etc.  If the buyer was a selling an original copy that had not been registered yet I think thats fine.  I would just be careful with the ones that say there nothing but the CD.  Ask questions! Ask questions!

Bought mine on Ebay

We have bought our last two from ebay.  They are sealed and nothing wrong with them.  Got them for around $10

I bought one on Ebay today; thanks.

I bought 2 off ebay as well w/o any problems - sm
I bought a Dell Latitude CPi about 5 years ago for travel (windows 98) about $600 (with DVD), and just bought a new (used) Dell Optiplex GX270 for $200, P4, 3 mHz, 512 MB RAM. This has XP Pro on it. Since I didn't need all the other stuff as I have it, I think ebay is the way to go if all you need is the CPU. I am very happy with both though I think the laptop is starting to die; so I will have to get a new laptop too, and I will go the same route with ebay on that as well. I bought the new CPU because I think my drive is going on my current desktop so I wanted a backup so I went with a faster computer (mine is 2 mHz now). Going to eventually switch over to the new computer altogether (need to get a modem for it) but will probably use a KVM switch for a little while.
I also bought an Acer monitor from there in 11/2007
Mine still works great, though.
I bought an Acer monitor from Staples

It's been well over a year now...  Towers are a different story, but I've had pretty good luck with e-machines from Best Buy.

What is good to clean an LCD computer screen that wont harm the black plastic monitor itself.

I bought on on EBay for under $200. Haven't had a chance to try it yet. nm

I went on Ebay and bought a folding wheelbarrow, sm
that is made of vinyl. The week before camping, I'd place it in a strategic spot in the house and as I thought of things to pack, I'd put it in the wheelbarrow. The night before heading out, I'd roll the thing to the RV, and pack it. Of course, can't really do that with perishables, but it sure helped with clothes, towels, etc. Then the wheelbarrow would be ready in the garage to unpack the RV. It sure saved on the back-and-forth treks from house to RV.
I bought a 17" Samsung flat screen for under 200 bucks. I like

LOL ... I bought mine on eBay. Link inside to tell you more about it. :-) sm

I bought mine off Ebay and love it! This is probably the keyboard I will always use now.

Yes, bought my SUV from Ebay from a reputable Infiniti Dealer in Houston and I live outside of Atlan
Best car I've ever, ever had. They specialize in luxury cars and large SUVs. Had hundreds of positive feedback from other buyers, very reputable seller. Got my Yukon for 8,000 under blue book. It was an awesome experience and we'd do it again in a heart beat. I had to drive out there to get it and it has everything in it - OnStar, media package, leather.

The only problem with that is you have to get your own financing and have the money in hand when picking up your vehicle.

Don't knock buying on ebay unless you've had a bad experience buying a vehicle. I've had my SUV for over a year. NO problems and if I sold it today I would make money on it.
Split? I bought old IBM off ebay but not split.

Buying a new computer and cant decide on LCD monitor or regular monitor. Any opinions out there. The
LCD is 325.00 with 1 year warranty.

EXText word client blank screen everytime I give ok in DIS screen
Thanks your suggestion was very valuable. At a specified time (which the technical side say, when the net speed is very good), it is working without a problem at all (whereas this was half working and half not working before even at this time), but other times, still the same problem exists.

Actually the blank screen comes every time I give "ok" in the DIS screen (patient details info screen).
Need noise reducing headphone help please!
I tried doing a search, but nothing came up.  I know this has been discussed here before.  Due to background noise in the house (TV and other things), I need to get a headset that blocks out this noise to I can hear my dictation.  I can't afford much, and was wondering what others are using.  The headset I use now is comfortable, but I can hear every little sound going on in the house and I'm losing my mind.  Thanks for the help!
Noise-reducing headset
I know that a lot of people have recommended the Radio Shack/Koss headsets.  I was wondering if these same headsets also block out a lot of external noise (like one's husband hammering in the next room, etc.)?  Could really use a pair that changes mono to stereo but, more importantly, has the noise reduction.  Thanks for any and all help.
noise reducing headphones
I just got a pair of Maxell (back of the head/over the ears) that work great!  I actually got them from freegiftclub.com, if you can believe it, and only got charged S/H!!  I really like them!  Also have a pair of Bose but those are expensive ($200), even if they're top-of-the-head and well-padded.  Good luck!
the OP mentioned nothing about reducing rates
The topic is about trying to set up business at home without experience. This will be hard. Maybe consider just one specialty, if you can get that, like a physical therapy office.
Screen Resolution/Font/Screen Percentage
My eyes are tired all the time. I usually have my monitor set at 800 x 600 pixels and use Bookman at 10 font in Word at 111% in the normal layout. What might be a better viewing screen setting to use?
I would think the sun's glare would be a problem, sm
to say nothing of the dust blowing around. Computers need to be in low humidity but not too low that you get static electricity. Your C-phone cords and pedal could pose a problem, too. Laptop keyboards are not designed to take the pounding MTs give them. The MTs I know of that use laptops have a regular computer keyboard hooked up to them. This would be a lot of work on a daily basis for you.
Yes, I use fan and also a filter to cut down on glare.
k
Oh yes, and don't forget the glare a cat gives when you are trying to see past them! (nm)

17 inch is a good size - they have glare screens

I have had both types of monitors - now both 17 inches but one is a flat screen and one is not.  They do offer glare screens to put over your monitors to cut down on glare which stress the eyes.  I have no problems and been using a computer monitor doing this MT work since 1990, but been transcribing for much longer than that.

Best of luck!

I bought a wedge at Michael's for about 59 cents. Bought one for my SM
Lanier station so I could see the display and one for my keyboard.
Are you a monitor here?
>>
I luv my LCD monitor
Not much to assemble. It's really a matter of popping the two cords into the back of the monitor. It'll take you about 15 minutes from start to finish ... that includes opening the box, taking out everything, reading the directions, connecting the monitor, installing the software), and throwing the box out.
monitor

If you use your computer a lot, plan on buying a lot of batteries or having a backup for a wireless with a charger.

As for monitors, you can get them on pricewatch pretty cheap now.  I actually bought my son a 21 inch Sony on ebay for 200 including shipping.  For my own 19 inch, I bought it at a rent-to-own furniture store.  Once they have them a few months, they sell them and I bought it for 40. and it's like new.

Monitor
Yes! Yes! Yes! I recently got a flat-screen and I love, love, love it. I have a Sceptre which I bought at Wal-Mart for about $150.00. Best thing I ever did. It really cut down on my headaches. Get a flat-screen. You will not be sorry. I promise. :)
Well I DO need a big monitor...
these days. After hitting 40, my eyesight definitely isn't what it used to be, LOL!
monitor
i used to have this happen, and with mine, it was not a precursor to going out. But i can't remember what supposedly caused it -- power surge, interference?? but in my case, led to no other problems.
Monitor......
Buy a shield or screen for the monitor that minimizes glare from the lightsource.
Need help with monitor

I recently had a monitor conk out, so I got the one out that came with my personal computer (a couple years old but never used).

Everything was fine for a few weeks but lately, out of the blue, my page will shift to the right for no apparent reason (leaving 1-1/2 inch of black on the left and the right edge of the page not in view) and then it will shift back at some point.

When I press on the monitor menu button, nothing happens at all.  I know when I first set it up, the menu and selections worked fine.

Any idea what is happening here?

Do you use more than one monitor?...

My husband and I "built" our new computer on Dell's website last night, and they are offering a second monitor for a very reasonable rate.  My question is, does anyone have this set-up using 2 monitors to work?  I didn't quite see the use for 2, but maybe to have one just for typing, and the other for my references?

Apparently, it is set up that you just have to move your mouse and it will move over to the other screen....seems easy enough.  But, I don't know if it would be worth the extra space it would take up on my desk and work area.  So,does anyone have this set-up and consider it a must?

Thanks very much for your help!

What monitor do you have?
