This doc keeps blowing wind/nose hairs/boogers out his nose - into the microsphone - and

sounds cool, huh?

I am physically nauseated!  3 hours of this.   gag

Add to that he can't say *our* alphabet so even though the hospital THINKS the docs are spelling the names, he wasted his time and mine. and when I get it wrong -- until I get the hospital to listen --- they will think I'm the *blank* one. (the board stopped me from posting/ said stup*d is not allowed here so you know what I'm saying - isn't that odd, I can't refer to my own self as that, hmmm)

He can't say NUMBERS.  Getting the drug doses is a joke.  Even the names of the drugs is like mystery science.

He says wrong months, days of the week.  If he's meaning to say May, he may say April.

If he's meaning to say 17 he may say 15.

You can hear the disdain in his voice when he dictates on women - I guess in his world there truly is no respect for women and you can really hear it when he's doing the dictation.

But the constant blowing - and clearing his throat - trying to dislodge that tickling nose hair I guess and slurping that yucky saliva has me just about ready to quit transcribing RIGHT NOW.  .

Today I did make myself a promise.  I have been a good girl for 30+ years, held my anger deep in my ugly Wal-Mart pocketbooks.  When I retire in January and I know I will never have to turn on another computer or transcribe another medical dictation............I'm gonna go to the hospital ......maybe go sit in on GRAND ROUNDS FOR THE LAST TIME.......and BLAST THEM.  I'll do it or bust a gasket.  Just watch me.

Love psych notes. HATE, HATE, HATE, HATE,
HATE ER notes.
another pet peeve for me is the snot sucker.
Today I got stuck with him again for more than a few reports. Grossed me out.
I'd rather have the eating than the snot sucking
That just grosses me out so badly. Blow your nose for cryin' out loud!
snot suckers, in our ears, like they don't know we hear that
nm
and from that comment, I can tell what you'll be sowing . . . snot. nm
x
Who was it! I'll contact them and rip em a new A-hole! YOU need the money. How rude of that snot.
/
mine sucks snot all the time...allergies I guess.
nm
Suck it up...
You are getting priceless experience, which you badly need, since you do not want to invest in any more training. Ignore the rudeness the best you can and learn, learn, learn. Realize that you will not be working with this woman forever. Remember this experience for when you are in her place (training a newbie in the future).
Suck up?
I do have a student loan to pay off. The fact that you do not does not surprise me. It shows in the superficiality and lack of logic in your post.

My original post was tongue in cheek - that means humorous - and the fact that you didn't get that tells me everything I need to know about you. As far as your comments about your kid, I disregard that completely because you obviously have a huge ego and of course your kid is perfect. I bet the office staff has another version.

I've been in this job a long time and I know how things have changed. I have seen the dumbing down of America, including its medical practitioners. These dictators are not just too fast, they stutter, they lose their place, they can't even get the patient gender correct - because they aren't paying attention to what they are doing. IMO, that means their patients don't mean much to them. If you care about something, you pay attention to it.

When I started this job long ago, a bad dictator was a rarity - that has been turned on its head and now the good dictator is a rarity. Those are the facts and if you don't like them, too bad, but it doesn't change the facts.

By the way, well-educated by definition means articulate. Going through school for a number of years does not necessarily translate into well educated.

People like you are part of the reason our wages are down - you're so busy basking in the glory of the doctors you worship that you can't see reality.

I'd tell him to suck it up and go back
And this situtation is not unusual. A friend of mine was phased out of a 75 grand a year job and when they called her back several months later she said she wouldn't work for them anymore. I said - Hey, Gerri - what's their number? I'll take that friggin job if you don't want it!
husbands suck
it sounds to me like you have a husband problem not a transcription problem. my first husband was like that too, his days off were his, I took care of all of everything else 7 days a week. Am divorced now and much happier, as I am not dealing with that pig anymore. My work is going great, I make $35 to $40 per hr, put in 6 hours a day and support myself and kids well. Think about dumping him, he sounds like a jerk. Don't give up! Your speed will increase, and as far as looking up every out of state school, employer, etc. DON"T DO IT. they will learn to spell them if there is a blank every time.

dang I suck!
LOL.  I have only had a job for the last 3.5 weeks.  Yesterday I hit 700 lines in a day.  Thank goodness I have no minimum.  But the first day I actually worked, I only hit 279 lines.  I get faster and faster everyday.  I also learned how to add things into the AutoCorrect option in MicroSoft Word, so that helped too.  I expect to be able to hit 1000 lines per day in another 3 weeks.  I also can only get in 5 hours during the day while the kiddos are at school.  If I choose to work in the evening I have to stop A LOT.  Part of the reason it takes me all day to hit 700 lines is that I hear words I am not familair with.  Or meds I have to look up.  I also go back and proofread all documents twice.  Seem I have no minimum requirement I can truly spend a little extra time on each document and be sure it the best I can do.  I know, over time, I will not to proofread every document over and over, but I am still learning.
you hit it right on the nose. I was sm
doing MT when AAMT came to be. I remember at the time, they would "grandfather" you in if you had five years experience (I had only three I think) in any kind of transcription. There were folks being "certified" who had done nothing but radiology or pathology their whole careers. I haven't been in AAMT for years but don't they now have certification for just radiology separately or something? Anyway, these folks were going around with the "certified" stamp and could not do one iota of acute care transcription. I took the test to be certified. Kept the certification for about 12 years and dumped it. All it is, is a money making venture to benefit AAMT. They do nothing for MTs far as I am concerned. As far as hiring a "CMT" I would take a more experienced MT w/o certification before I would take someone with less experience with certification. I think AAMT needs to be buried too!
taking all into consideration, they both suck.
nm
The reason I said suck it up, is because you are new to the industry...
and have to put your dues in...we all have had to do that...I care about my work also and obviously not in it just for the money..

BLOW YOUR NOSE....PLEASE!!
I am about to lose my mind.  If this dictator could just blow her nose and stop sucking snot.  Can't help having a cold, but even my children would BLOW THEIR NOSE.  Then maybe she could stop choking on phlegm.  A little consideration, PLEASE!
Oh I have one of those too. I just want to say BLOW YOUR NOSE!!!

Fat can be lost but ugly is forever. It must suck
xx
Anyone suck at tests and do great transcription?
I absolutely SUCK at taking transcription tests yet my work is always 99%+ correct.  I think I just choke on them.
I hate DocQSribe, I hate DocQScribe, I hate DocQScrbe, I hate DocQScribe, I hate DocQSribe.

You have a brown smudge on your nose you

You'll still pay through the nose for benefits

employee.  There are no such thing as raises in this industry.  It just doesn't happen.  Meanwhile, my husband's employer (not MT) told the managers not to expect a bonus this year.  So, it is not just this industry.

The American dream is to own your own company; be your own boss.  Why let the rates stand in your way?  If you are as good as you say you are, then you would find a way to have benefits and also make a decent living.  You don't need an employee position to do that.  Many people own businesses and still have health insurance.  It is out there for the taking.  Even as an employee you have to pay for your benefits.  No employer is going to give them away.

It is a shame you were underbid, but this happens every day in this profession, i.e., offshoring...

I don’t brown nose anyone as I am not in charge
of how to tell physicians to dictate, just handle my end. I only wish, though.
I don't. Have the unlined version, they suck too. I use reading glasses that
zz
I hear mine suck hard candy all day. LOL sm
He's also done a few of those breathier burps. Yuck You'd think with his ability to edit over the dictation, he'd want to get rid of them, or at least say excuse me. LOL
Love cardiology, hate podiatry. Hate discharges, but
nm
Same here, inside of nose freezes when breathing.nm

Maybe you should both get your nose out of the bible and live the life He gave you...

I just opened the post regarding Jen having an ugly nose and there was the OSi ad. No hunt here. I
the post about Jen's ugly nose lol

I guess they are enjoying their ad campaign on here though trying to drive the moderators nuts
Blowing nose, sniffing, hacking, spitting,,yuk!

I transcribed a doc and I swear he was sick all the time.  Really gross.

No actually I plan to suck everything out of them at my line rate this year and then quit in January
when they start the new pay plan. Yep, that is exactly what I plan to do. Yep, I have it all planned out. This sick sick lady has it all planned out. The best of MQ is over.
recommend the newbie MT join AAMT online chapter and suck the SM
dickens out of their "We Ment Well" (play on We Mentor Well) forum, to which non-newbies are excluded, and for which there is a plethora of talented folks of all types of persuasions more than willing to help.
I hate those but I hate trauma notes on children even more sm
I used to work for a large hospital that saw a lot of children for various horrible things.

The very last one I did was a 12yo boy who had hung himself while his mother was at work. She thought he was in school. The doctor cried, I cried (as I usually did) and I just couldn't handle that anymore. That was the longest report I swear. Short in lines but the length was almost an hour. The doc didn't pause the machine, she cried, horrible gut wrenching sobs, and I did too, right along with her.
under HEENT: Nose - moderatly DEMONSTIMINATES more on the right than on the left, no erythema, sm

GARA discharge.

I cant make out these words at all.  I sloooooowed him all the way down.  Sped him up.  Took my earphones off.

I'm ready to take the bridge over here.  Any clues?  THANKS

I've had a sniffler - blow your nose for heaven's sake!

I don't hate AAMT at all, ks. I don't hate
their book. In fact, I love the BOS2. It is not a regular grammar book at all - there are hundreds of issues in it that are point specific to MTing and medical field. I have dozens of regular grammar books, too, for other purposes, and they are not similar at all. I purchased the BOS2 when out job interviewing for a few months. Every single employer wanted me to have my own company, and they all tested off of it. Several used it in their daily work, and I have found it priceless over all. I think its even on sale now, but $89 is not a lot for a professional tool that we should use if required, or if a newbie. MTs who don't like to buy books are not very wise in the big picture. Its like shooting yourself in the foot.
I HATE it when that happens nm
nm
I really hate that
for you.  Had you gotten past that experience I believe you would have found it to be a place where you would have really been happy. Doesn't sound at all like their techs.  Could be it was just a bad day for both of you.  Unfortunately that happens sometimes.   Hope you find a company you're happy with soon.
Don't you just hate it when .....sm
a dictator blobbers a word/phrase and the client claims something like "if you just listened to this 40 times in various speeds, very quiet conditions and through 2 different phone systems or  PCs you should have been able to figure this out."   Of course we all want to rebut with "and if your dictator wouldn't talk with his mouth full of his Wendy's hamburger while driving down the interstate with the convertible top open, and on a speaker phone we could hear him/her the first time without a problem!"
I don't hate MQ, but---
I don't like the decrease in my lines since starting on DQS either. It is not what it was promised to be. I am working a lot longer and harder now and I still cannot get the lines I used to on Medrite. I also wish they would be better about giving raises to those of us who are faithful employees and are always there for THEM. I have also been with them for over 8 years.
HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT!
X
no thanks, hate CNN too......LOL..nm
x
hate it

I hate when that happens...
you have my sympathies!
I hate that
I mean if they really want to talk to me why be as inconsiderate as to keep me waiting and take up my important time sitting there listening to nothing. I wait and wait so I can say for them not to call again. Sometimes they take forever to get the real live being on the line. Why would I buy something from someone who saw me as so unimportant as to keep me waiting like that.
Yep, I really like my job - it's the pay I hate :)

Happy  Day!!

I really hate that!
I remember, back in the old days, we used our common sense when dealing with numbers.  We'd say "an 80-year-old man who has had cancer for five years, having undergone 12 radiation treatments."  Anything under the number 10 would be spelled out, except for lists, etc.; those would be in numbers.  Whose idea was it to change the rules of proper English, punctuation, and grammar?  (Change is hard for me, I admit.)
I would hate it and have already had a job like that - sm
though they did not call you to ask why a report took "too" long in their eyes, but they monitored you closely. I did not like the feeling of "big brother watching". Tell management to try typing the report and see how long it takes them....sometimes 5 minute reports can take 30 minutes. I average 14-15 minutes an hour, so it would have probably taken me 20 minutes; 30 it is was a hard ESL or I had to look a lot of stuff up (which I have to do depending on which doctor I have, i.e. addresses, which slows me down tremendously). If it's a good job I'd go for it, and as you already know the doctors you should have no problem. You can always quit if you don't like it.
