voicewrite EX and have no problems. I just have the personal plan. I didn't see any reason to get the business plan. You have unlimited long distance on both but they charge you more for a business. I have used vonage over a year. I love the $27.00 a month. It is good to have a regular phone line also because when internet is done vonage is down also.

Vonage and Lanier? sm

I have used Vonage in the past with a C-phone.   Will it work as smoothly with a Lanier system?

VONAGE AND LANIER

I just was needing some input regarding the use of Vonage and Lanier.....I am having some problems with this and was wondering if there was anyone with some advice on whether this is possible or not???? and if YES it is possible, what advice do you have or what do I need to do??  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Vonage and Lanier
Did you just start using Vonage with Lanier? I assume you have Vonage for unlimited long distance. I started on a Lanier account at MDI a year ago and was told that some people had had problems with Vonage and Lanier working together, but they found that if you had a Motorola (if memory serves correctly) Vonage router it should work. I opted instead to switch my home phone to cable phone with unlimited local and long distance and it works great. Never have had a problem with minutes.
Is anyone using Vonage for a Lanier account?
I'm currently using Verizon residential with unlimited LD, but have been told that might come back to bite me.  Anyone have this problem?...or suggestions?  TIA
Can Vonage be used with a Lanier VoiceWriteEX? nm
:O)
Vonage and Lanier don't always mix well - Same problem
Have you recently changed who you connect through (from land line to VolP)? I just got Vonage a month or two ago and for a couple of weeks it worked fine, but now it's doing what yours is. After calling the company I work for and troubleshooting everything we could, we came to the conclusion that it had to be the connection. Apparently, Vonage and Lanier don't work well together. Could your problem be similar?
I am wondering if there is a way to use your C-phone with Vonage phone service?
??
Anyone know if you can use Vonage with a C-phone? nm

Vonage with C-phone - sm
I use VOIP digital phone from Time Warner cable with my Lanier and have had no problems - unless the cable goes out, which (knock on wood) doesn't happen often. Hope this helps.
You can use Vonage with C-phone
I have used it for over 2 years now with both C-phone and Lanier. It does work better with the C-phones. Good luck.
Can I use my C-Phone with Vonage? SM

I live in small town America.  We have one telephone company that serves our rural county which is CenturyTel and it sucks.  If we moved 7 miles up the road, we would be able to get SBC or AT&T.  I have my phone line and DSL internet through CenturyTel and have nothing but trouble.  I am supposed to have unlimited long distance which I have had since May of last year.  Last month I received a $3000 phone bill because for whatever reason, they disconnected my unlimited long distance.  When I called them to pitch a fit, they apologized, said they were rectifying the matter, and told me I only owed the usual $100 which I promptly paid.  I got a disconnect notice today saying they are going to disconnect me if the $3000 I owe isn't paid by March 1st.  I am now on hold with the 5th person I have had to talk to at this incompetent, rinky dink phone company and I am pulling my hair out.  This isn't the first time I've had problems with them.  They've switched my service packages before for no apparent reason and the only explanation I get is "Hmmmm, I apologize for that, I'm not sure why somebody would do that."  Or my personal favorite, blame the phantom employee "she just didn't put in the computer right, but I'm fixing it for you now."

Anyway, sorry about the rant, but I'm truly losing it!  I have decided to call the cable company and get internet through them and try to work with Vonage, but I need to actually plug my C-phone into a jack and I understand that Vonage is all wireless through a router.  I need to know is there a way to plug a phone cord into a Vonage modem?

I am just so frustrated!

Vonage & C-phone

I'm passing this tidbit along.

If you have Vonage and are having trouble connecting to the dictation system, here's the solution. Purchase one of those little two-line plastic gizmos from Radio Shack. I don't know what it's called, but you can plug it into a wall jack and then plug two phones into it. It was used in "the old days" before Cable and DSL lines, and your computer modem and telephone shared the same line.

Pop this gizmo into the back of your Vonage router. Plug a regular phone into one socket and your C-phone into the other.

Dial into the transcription station with the regular phone. Punch in all of the codes and once you're fully connected, pick up the headset for the C-phone, put on your headset, hang up the regular phone, and you're set to work!!!

Vonage and c-phone
Hello, Anyone has vonage and a c-phone attached and working?  If so, how is your quality.  I currently have Bellsouth/AT&T with their DSL for cable, whenever I use my c-phone my internet acts flaky.  DH wants to switch to Comcast cable for internet and vonage..will save us money that for sure.  Any comments?
Vonage phone service
I have been using Vonage for about 4 months now, and I really love it.  My bill has never been over 23.00 and the only drawbacks I have seen is that sometimes my voice will have an echo-like quality that is a little distracting and the other is if my internet service is out for some reason, I don't have a phone, but it is very rare for that to ever happen.  The low bill more than makes up for it.  My phone company bill used to be at least 75.00, and I never could figure out what half of the charges stood for.  Even the people who worked at the office couldn't explain it!
Has anybody tried Vonage for phone service?
Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks
Is there a way to use my C-phone with my Vonage setup? SM

I need to plug my C-phone into a phone jack.  My Vonage setup is completely wireless set up by my local cable company.

I've got an analog telephone line, but the local phone company in this area is incredibly incompetent and I am at the end of my rope and am desparate to figure something else out.  I have called this company of Keystone Cops four times trying to order their unlimited long distance plan.  Each time they have apologized for the inconvience and said "somebody dropped the ball" and they are just so sorry.  This morning I called them for the 5th time because I got a letter in the mail yesterday thanking me for signing up for the 5 cents a minute long distance plan!  Now I'm told that they are making "notations" on my account and when I get my bill at the end of the month I will need to call their "investigations department" to get the long distance charges reversed.

So as you can see, my frustration meter is maxing out with these people!  Help me figure out a way I can use my Vonage with my C-phone and tell these people to hang themselves with their telephone line!

Help! Vonage, Satellite, C-phone

Does anyone out there successfully use a C-phone with Vonage with satellite internet?  I have Hughes.net satellite (can't get DSL in my area).  My C-phone foot pedal has a lag in using all the controls of FF, RW, and Play.  I have upgraded my Hughes.net service, increased the bandwith, and am still having the same problem.  If you also had this problem, what did you do to correct it?  TIA

I have been using my C-phone with vonage for about 4-5 years
Actually since I first heard about vonage.

It works great and I have the unlimited small business plan about $50 a month without all the hassle of a regular phone service.

I also got my phone number as a local phone number for my family so when I am not working they can call and it doesnt cost them any long distance which is a win win situation in my book.
Does anyone experience a lag when using Vonage with C-Phone?

I have a DAC digital transcribe unit and I dial into a DVI system.  I have noticed there is a lag.  When I let off my pedal, the dictation continues to play for a second and then stops.  The auto backspace is skewed because the dictation plays forward too much when I left off my pedal.

Anyone else experience this and is there anything Vonage can do to correct it?

I use it with C-phone and Lanier.
I have had absolutely no problems with it at all.
C-phone vs Lanier - sm
The two devices are completely different, and if the facility you type for is set up for C-phone, Lanier will not work. Don't ask my how or why, but I have both, and they are not interchangeable for each account.
Lanier vs C-Phone - sm
Unfortunately for your desk space, they cannot be used interchangeably. They are two separate dictating systems, although they basically perform for the MT the same way. What is dictated on Lanier system cannot be accessed with a C-phone and vice versa, but I don't know the technical jargon for why this is so. I, too, have accounts on the two separate systems, have two foot pedals under my desk, and have to shuffle the machines around and plug in the phone line when switching over. You get use to it after a while. Hope this helps.
I've never used Verizon, but I tried using Vonage with my C-phone and ... SM

I didn't find Vonage to be very reliable.  Some days I would have no dial tone and the phone wouldn't be working and I would have to reboot my high speed modem, reboot my router, and then reboot my Vonage modem.  This happened a lot after thunderstorms and ice or snow storms.  Some days I'd be working and lose my connection.  I had trouble with dialing out even though I could receive calls and had to wait for Vonage to fix a server problem.

It just got really annoying for me.  I mean the unlimited long distance was great, but I need something more reliable.  My local phone company ended up offering an unlimited long distance package at a reasonable price and I jumped at it.  Now I've got a regular 'ol analog phone line with unlimited LD and I pay about $40 month and that's with an in-line service package which means if I have any jack or line problems, I don't have to pay extra for a technician to come out and fix it for me.

I have Lanier transcriber-nothing like C-phone
I have a Lanier transcriber that I pop small tapes in to transcribe.  But Lanier is a huge company that has branched out into other areas.......but the transcriber is NOTHING like a C-phone.
MT on the road using C-phone or Lanier? (sm)

Anyone have any suggestions for using a C-phone or Lanier while traveling?  I'm planning a vacation and will stay in a hotel (with separate work space).  I've worked before while traveling with my laptop and transcribed via wav files or a tape transcriber, but never with a C-phone.  I've thought about purchasing a calling card to use the hotel's phone line to dial in; know it'll be expensive.  Any ideas and recommendations on this plan are much appreciated, i.e., calling card, hotel's phone line.

Thanks!

Lanier versus C-phone
I just started a new account and they have sent me a Lanier 219.  I have been using a C-phone for another account and hate to clutter up my already messy desk.  Can the C-phone do the same thing as the Lanier?  Besides, I have no idea how to hook this thing up.
Lanier/cable phone
I'm guessing you're in the west as you mentioned Qwest before. I use cable phone through Cable One with my Lanier and have had absolutely no problems with my minutes being truly unlimited. I have also had no problem with sound quality. It only has gone out once this year during a storm and they had it back up pretty fast.
Does anyone use Vonage with a C-phone. Any info please. Att wants to change me 10 c/minute. nm

Does anyone know how to program a new phone number in a Lanier? sm
It is a Lanier LX-231.  There are a couple of buttons I would like to reprogram but couldn't find anything by Googling.  Thanks!
Lanier & digital phone line
Does anyone use a Lanier with a digital phone line (not VOIP)? Anything else required to make this work?

thx.
Company requires a C-phone. Will a Lanier Lx-219 work as well? sm

What is the difference in a Dictaphone, C-phone, Lanier LX-219 and Lanier Expresswriter or Voicewriter?

Thanks!

Digital phone line with Lanier voicewriter
Now I am getting digital phone through my cable company with the addition of a data line which is suppose to give me unlimited access for dial up so I am hoping that will work. Does anyone else use a Lanier with Time Warner Cable digital phone and if so any problems?
Need Lanier ExWriter to test. Will VDI station or C-phone work or can I rerecord?

I am unfamiliar with the Lanier ExWriter. Can somebody please fill me in? I have a C-phone, VDI station, a call-in system with L.E.E.C.H. capabilities that can download work onto my system from another, or rerecord equipment. Can you access files from call-in systems like you can with a regular telephone and C-phone? How is the sound quality? I am not to thrilled with the .dss or WAV files.

Thanks!

I pay $35/month through Vonage for unlimited LD. Local phone co. charges $50/month. NM

Hi, Deeni! I did Lanier for several years and was always told that Lanier....sm
would only work with/accept/interface with other Lanier products, that everything was proprietary, but that was a few years ago and do not know if anything there has changed, wish I was of more help!  Have a good one!
C-phone used to call in to dictating systems to receive work. A special phone. nm

I had a lot of trouble with static in my C-phone. I replaced the phone cord and that made a big

difference.  Also, have you tried a different headset?  Also someone told me one time that there is a microphone under your volume control on the right corner of the C-phone.  It's a tiny hole.  If you break off a Q-tip and stick that into the hole that will squelch a lot of background noise and that worked as well.  As far as getting your C-phone service, I heard that Dictaphone is "sunsetting" C-phones at the end of this year.  Meaning, they aren't going to service them anymore as they are considered an obsolete technology.  So, I would contact Dictaphone and see what your options are.

I know very little about Lanier equipment.  I've not used it as extensively as Dictaphone.  Is there a local appliance repair place in your area?  You might ask one of those places to take a look at your equipment and see what they think.  Kinda scary, cause they could do more harm than good, but maybe worth a shot.

Not much help, I know.  But I thought I would share what tiny bit of obscure knowledge I do have.

I've changed them between an old phone and new phone, but the same company, i.e. Nextel.

May have to change phone companies, have switched to job using a C-phone. sm
Currently have Embarq (formerly Sprint), and my usage will be going up about 12,000 minutes a month.  What phone companies offer really unlimited for a flat rate?  TIA.

I have cable phone access and my C-phone works - sm
I am not sure about you problem, because it sounds just like I have mine hooked up.  The only thing I can think of is that mine has 2 line hookups in the back of the phone.  If you have this too, I would just try the other one, which you probably have already done.  Sorry that was not much help.  I wish you luck
I have a very loud hum when using my C-phone, but no hum when I'm using the regular phone. SM

Anyone else experience this problem with their C-phone?  Is there a problem with my C-phone?  At first I thought it was my telelphone line and called the phone company.  They sent a technician out to replace the lines and check the house, but the hum is still there on the C-phone.

It's driving me batty!

C-phone info regarding phone lines etc.
I am completely clueless on the subject of a C-phone.  Can someone help me understand exactly how this works?  Do you have to specifically have a separate "dial up internet" service to use the C-phone? I currently have cable internet and am wondering if there is anything else I need to get.  I guess I should contact my phone company.  At any rate, any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
If you use a C-phone for work and have a digital phone

through cable, have you tried to take an incoming call?

We only have one phone line.  I rarely get/make calls and when I do we have cell phones.  I just started working with a C-phone and got digital phone.  I can go a month and my phone not ring, so far have gotten 3 calls today, but I'm afraid that if I try to answer the phone that I will lose my report.

I guess I could pull up a report and have my husband call on his C-phone and test it that way and then if I lose it no biggie.

Anyone use/try C-phone with Medicom's phone service?
Wondering if it works?
Vonage
Any of you out there using Vonage?  It seems like a really good deal, 25.00 a month for unlimited (opposed to the 110. we pay for Verizon).  Anyone using it to connect to hospitals? and do they say anything if you are using 8 hours solid for work?  I see they have a small business plan for around 50.  If any of you have it, how is the connection and the sound quality.
