I have Lanier transcriber-nothing like C-phone

Posted By: it's a machine you put tapes in.....sm on 2007-07-06
In Reply to: I thought Lanier was an actual - digital transcription unit.

I have a Lanier transcriber that I pop small tapes in to transcribe.  But Lanier is a huge company that has branched out into other areas.......but the transcriber is NOTHING like a C-phone.

I use a Lanier transcriber - they cost TONS

eBay comes to mind - and what the other poster said about contacting Lanier for a used one.  As I know it, a new one is about $600 (?), Lanier being the BEST transcriber around, JMHO

.......with ebay though you have to be very careful.

Need a C-phone for work. Can I use a digital transcriber sm

I have 2 digital work stations.  One is Bytescribe call-in system.  The other is Philips station.  Neither have the actual phone part that you pick up.  I can call in to different numbers to get work.  Does anyone know if this will work?  I need a "C-phone" to get work for a new job, and I don't know if I should buy one or what.  I posted before, but no one answered.  Just thought I'd try and ask again.  Thanks.

I use it with C-phone and Lanier.
I have had absolutely no problems with it at all.
C-phone vs Lanier - sm
The two devices are completely different, and if the facility you type for is set up for C-phone, Lanier will not work. Don't ask my how or why, but I have both, and they are not interchangeable for each account.
Lanier vs C-Phone - sm
Unfortunately for your desk space, they cannot be used interchangeably. They are two separate dictating systems, although they basically perform for the MT the same way. What is dictated on Lanier system cannot be accessed with a C-phone and vice versa, but I don't know the technical jargon for why this is so. I, too, have accounts on the two separate systems, have two foot pedals under my desk, and have to shuffle the machines around and plug in the phone line when switching over. You get use to it after a while. Hope this helps.
I have used vonage with c-phone and currently Lanier sm
voicewrite EX and have no problems. I just have the personal plan. I didn't see any reason to get the business plan. You have unlimited long distance on both but they charge you more for a business. I have used vonage over a year. I love the $27.00 a month. It is good to have a regular phone line also because when internet is done vonage is down also.
MT on the road using C-phone or Lanier? (sm)

Anyone have any suggestions for using a C-phone or Lanier while traveling?  I'm planning a vacation and will stay in a hotel (with separate work space).  I've worked before while traveling with my laptop and transcribed via wav files or a tape transcriber, but never with a C-phone.  I've thought about purchasing a calling card to use the hotel's phone line to dial in; know it'll be expensive.  Any ideas and recommendations on this plan are much appreciated, i.e., calling card, hotel's phone line.

Thanks!

Lanier versus C-phone
I just started a new account and they have sent me a Lanier 219.  I have been using a C-phone for another account and hate to clutter up my already messy desk.  Can the C-phone do the same thing as the Lanier?  Besides, I have no idea how to hook this thing up.
Lanier/cable phone
I'm guessing you're in the west as you mentioned Qwest before. I use cable phone through Cable One with my Lanier and have had absolutely no problems with my minutes being truly unlimited. I have also had no problem with sound quality. It only has gone out once this year during a storm and they had it back up pretty fast.
Does anyone know how to program a new phone number in a Lanier? sm
It is a Lanier LX-231.  There are a couple of buttons I would like to reprogram but couldn't find anything by Googling.  Thanks!
Lanier & digital phone line
Does anyone use a Lanier with a digital phone line (not VOIP)? Anything else required to make this work?

thx.
I use Vonage with a C phone and Lanier with no problems, love it.

Company requires a C-phone. Will a Lanier Lx-219 work as well? sm

What is the difference in a Dictaphone, C-phone, Lanier LX-219 and Lanier Expresswriter or Voicewriter?

Thanks!

I have had no problems with Vonage at all, I haved using Lanier and a C phone.

Digital phone line with Lanier voicewriter
Now I am getting digital phone through my cable company with the addition of a data line which is suppose to give me unlimited access for dial up so I am hoping that will work. Does anyone else use a Lanier with Time Warner Cable digital phone and if so any problems?
Need Lanier ExWriter to test. Will VDI station or C-phone work or can I rerecord?

I am unfamiliar with the Lanier ExWriter. Can somebody please fill me in? I have a C-phone, VDI station, a call-in system with L.E.E.C.H. capabilities that can download work onto my system from another, or rerecord equipment. Can you access files from call-in systems like you can with a regular telephone and C-phone? How is the sound quality? I am not to thrilled with the .dss or WAV files.

Thanks!

Lanier is a type of dictaphone, but when speaking of a C-phone, it's meant as the Dictaphone Con

Hi, Deeni! I did Lanier for several years and was always told that Lanier....sm
would only work with/accept/interface with other Lanier products, that everything was proprietary, but that was a few years ago and do not know if anything there has changed, wish I was of more help!  Have a good one!
where did you buy your transcriber....

Where? How much? What to look for?

Any help is great!

Transcriber--which is best?

Hello--I am getting ready to graduate from MT school and am researching transcription equipment.  Can anybody give me some advice about which brands are the best?  I don't need a top of the line machine, but I definitely want something that works well and that I won't have to replace in a couple of months.  Also, while I'm researching all transcribers, I'm also very interested in digital transcribers.  Thank you!

DA-128 transcriber
Does anyone know what button gets the demographics to play.  I haved tried them all and am ready to give it a heave.  No info on the net anywhere other than the price of the thing.  Any help is GREATLY appreciated.  Suppose to be starting a new job and can't get the demographics to play.  Thanks in advance.
OM's transcriber
headset is all I ever use. The brand is Panasonic RP-EP110 microcassette transcriber headset. Just go to Officemax.com and you can find them under "transcribers".
Do you have a tape transcriber, or does it have to be
voice files?  I have some practice dictation minicassette tapes here that I'd be willing to send you.  As for the voice files, you could try Google searching.  I typed in "medical transcription" practice sound files download   but don't really have time to search through the results.  I don't even know if there's anything out there.
transcriber sticking
My Pearlcorder T1000 is skipping every 2 seconds, both in play and rewind. tried cleaning inside with alcohol. any other ideas? TU
Ever heard of this transcriber?
Has anyone ever used/heard of a Digital Voice Model DVI-115 work station C-phone? It was just shipped to me for a new acct I am starting and I have looked and looked on the web and can't find a manual. Can't really even seem to find this machine anywhere. Thanks
software and transcriber
1. Has anyone used the Instant Text V Pro software?
2. I want to purchase a digital transcriber. Does anyone have a favorite to recommend?
Cheaper to buy transcriber?
If he is doing tapes it might be cheaper to go on E-Bay and buy a transcriber than everything that is needed to transfer over to digitial files as well as the time it will take.   If he does micro tapes you can pick up an Olympus Pearlcorder for under $75 on E-Bay and I have always had good luck.
Need transcriber unit
You need a transcribing unit that has a pedal that comes with it.  Your digital pedal will not work.  Depends on size of tape -- micro, mini or standard.
All N One Wave Transcriber
Thanks for the advice. After using the 30-day free trial I found on a web site I've decided to stick with Digital Voice Editor (FS85USB). I don't like the pedal nearly as much but I guess I can live with it because the software is excellent. The All N One is okay, the other is just better. Thanks though. I appreciate it.
My current transcriber I bought from
this site. It appeared brand new, and I paid about half of what a new one costs at an office supply store. I'm sure they are available on e-bay as well. Mine is a Panasonic minicassette, which is my brand of choice (more control over the dictation than some of the others I've tried), although I've seen it posted more than once on this site that Lanier is the best, but way more expensive.
Transcriber is a piece of equipment.

What is the best micro-cassette transcriber? SM
Believe it or not, some docs still use tapes.  I have a Sony transcriber but the tape fades in and out.  If I let off the foot pedal and then play again, the tape will get louder and clear and then gradually fade again.  It's really annoying and I'm thinking it's the transcriber.  Is there a machine out there that will play a tape with more clarity and consistency?
I have a Panasonic transcriber, if you need one. Send
me an email if you are interested in purchasing it.  Includes foot pedal.
Any opinions on All N One Wave Transcriber?
I am looking for a new transcriber software kit.  The All N One Wave Transcriber by Martel Electronics looks good but they don't have a free trial download.  I don't want to buy without knowing anything about it.  I need something that I can see all the files that have been downloaded to me and that I can listen to and name file by file.  I have a doctor that many times does not complete the dictation in one sitting - may continue it days later.  I need to be able to search through files to see if I have the continuations or not.  Most, from what I have found, don't have this option.  I have Sony's Digital Voice Editor and love it but really dislike the pedal so am trying to find something similar in another software. Does anyone out there have experience with this software and pedal (All N One)?  Thanks in advance for any advice.
FYI, did you know that a transcriber is a machine and a transcriptionist is a person?

AC adapter for D-Light digital transcriber?
I have an old D-Light machine that I need to put back into use. Have misplaced the AC adapter. Does anyone know what type of AC adapter it uses?

Thanks!
Sony M2000 transcriber question
Just bought a Sony M2000 microcassette transcriber from Goodwill for $6.99 with all accessories.  (buy of the year!!)  Can someone tell me how to erase tapes?  I currently use a Panasonic, so I'm not quite sure how it works.  I'm sure the answer is right in front of my eyes.  Thanks alot!!
C-phone used to call in to dictating systems to receive work. A special phone. nm

I had a lot of trouble with static in my C-phone. I replaced the phone cord and that made a big

difference.  Also, have you tried a different headset?  Also someone told me one time that there is a microphone under your volume control on the right corner of the C-phone.  It's a tiny hole.  If you break off a Q-tip and stick that into the hole that will squelch a lot of background noise and that worked as well.  As far as getting your C-phone service, I heard that Dictaphone is "sunsetting" C-phones at the end of this year.  Meaning, they aren't going to service them anymore as they are considered an obsolete technology.  So, I would contact Dictaphone and see what your options are.

I know very little about Lanier equipment.  I've not used it as extensively as Dictaphone.  Is there a local appliance repair place in your area?  You might ask one of those places to take a look at your equipment and see what they think.  Kinda scary, cause they could do more harm than good, but maybe worth a shot.

Not much help, I know.  But I thought I would share what tiny bit of obscure knowledge I do have.

I've changed them between an old phone and new phone, but the same company, i.e. Nextel.

I use my c-phone whenever we travel. You can hook it directly into your room phone. Be sure and as

I think you can dial into most systems that require C-phone without having a C-phone nm

I am wondering if there is a way to use your C-phone with Vonage phone service?
??
May have to change phone companies, have switched to job using a C-phone. sm
Currently have Embarq (formerly Sprint), and my usage will be going up about 12,000 minutes a month.  What phone companies offer really unlimited for a flat rate?  TIA.
C-phone and ATT. There is no problem with the C-phone, but ATT wouldn't let me use unlimited.

I have cable phone access and my C-phone works - sm
I am not sure about you problem, because it sounds just like I have mine hooked up.  The only thing I can think of is that mine has 2 line hookups in the back of the phone.  If you have this too, I would just try the other one, which you probably have already done.  Sorry that was not much help.  I wish you luck
I have a very loud hum when using my C-phone, but no hum when I'm using the regular phone. SM

Anyone else experience this problem with their C-phone?  Is there a problem with my C-phone?  At first I thought it was my telelphone line and called the phone company.  They sent a technician out to replace the lines and check the house, but the hum is still there on the C-phone.

It's driving me batty!

C-phone info regarding phone lines etc.
I am completely clueless on the subject of a C-phone.  Can someone help me understand exactly how this works?  Do you have to specifically have a separate "dial up internet" service to use the C-phone? I currently have cable internet and am wondering if there is anything else I need to get.  I guess I should contact my phone company.  At any rate, any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
If you use a C-phone for work and have a digital phone

through cable, have you tried to take an incoming call?

We only have one phone line.  I rarely get/make calls and when I do we have cell phones.  I just started working with a C-phone and got digital phone.  I can go a month and my phone not ring, so far have gotten 3 calls today, but I'm afraid that if I try to answer the phone that I will lose my report.

I guess I could pull up a report and have my husband call on his C-phone and test it that way and then if I lose it no biggie.
