dictator said delete it.  I still typed the report and per my company we get paid for it.   There are occasionally times when the dictator states during the report to go back and change and they may almost completely redictate the report so there will be lines typed and deleted that you will not get paid for.

Did you type that stat report? What did you say
x
Why not just send it through, with the notation
nm
I had a guy do that to me yesterday. I couldn't even tell which type of report
he was dictating because it sounded like arefanunionsom. Ummm, that's not a choice, dude. There are no reports by that title.
According to type of report - i.e., common surgeries,
or physical examinations are what I normally save.
I proof as I type the report and when there are long
pauses I will proof while waiting for dictation to start up again.
How about yourself? I type a report on some horrible disease and think "Hey, I think I have that.

I've also tested at a hospital. I only had to type one report and
the rest was the interview and a small written test on abbreviations and proofreading test for correct punctuation etc. I certainly was not asked to come in and sit and do 6 reports. Overkill in my opinion and totally turned me off to this company.
How long should it take to type a 36 minute dictated report?
I was just wondering as I talked to a woman that said it took her a really long time to type this report the other day.. I have never actually timed myself, but thought I'd see what you all thought or what it really should take to do a report that length?
I'd type it & keep my mouth shut. If you defer the report to someone else, you are just calling
hmmm...maybe I don't know yet how to post on this board.
Once you view it, make sure to reply No to 'save any changes you made?' so the report

Whenever one of my coworkers asks me to listen to a report and fill in the blanks or make SM

corrections, I always put my initials on the report right after hers and I expect anyone who goes into any of my reports to make a correction to do the same and that includes QA people.  Where I work, the transcription clerk will put her initials in a report even if she just had to go into the report and delete a blank line to make the report upload correctly.  She puts an asterisk by her initials to let us know that she didn't make any changes to the text, just made adjustments for uploading purposes.

I've been told at other jobs by the QA bunch that whatever software we use automatically keeps a virtual record of each person who accesses a report, but I just like knowing who else has messed with my report.  I can't tell you how many times when I worked in the office, an irate doctor has come in saying "who's LN" or "who's RB".  So if QA went into the report and changed something, I want the doctor to see their initials too.

I don't make a lot as I type slow (40-60 wpm)- sm
and get distracted easy. I wlll make about $19K this year. I work FT house but in reality should be able to get it all done in about 6 hours each day if I was dedicated. I get .08 and .07 on 2 accounts, .13 on another (mine), and edit for .03. I try to work mostly on the .08 accounts of course (have 2 of those). I used to get .09 working somewhere else but that was w/o spaces so know I make more at .08 plus I prefer this IC job over that one though they are good people at the one I don't work for anymore. I have the same docs now which I prefer, and I have more wiggle room with when my work is due as well. ---So one of my goals for this year is see if I can put the pedal to the metal and get my income up to $24 to 25K next year. Luckily this is a second income for us but we have a lot of bills and it is needed.
I agree with the average as 0.08 to 0.85, however if you type 200/lph you will make much more than y

How much do you make hourly if you relisten. What type of perfection are you looking for?
I mean I listen very carefully as I go along and address issues as I go. If I took the time to relisten, I would make half of what I make right now and I can't afford that as a production transcriber.  Seriously if you relisten, what is your hourly wage to produce a report considering all things.
Yes. You have to type til your fingers are smokin' to be able to make any money. nm
:+
Make sure you have selected Medical as your speller type.
Tools, Options, Spelling and Grammer. Select Medical from the drop down list under speller type (right side).
I loved 5.1 with Smart Type and miss it, but I make more now sm
I don't think it is the platform (Extext) or the work (now acute, but 5.1 time was with clinic), I think it is me being better able to do the job and a more steady flow of work.
3-1/2 years experience, type cardio only on clinic account, and make 9 cpl nm

You do not need the 1099. You just need to report the income. Report the company/person ...sm
to the IRS for not sending out the 1099.
I charge the same amount for a "normal" report as for any other report.
You still have to listen to the dictation and change anything that's different.  I had one woman try to pull this on me.  She'd dictate, "Just pull up my normal, but change this, change that, switch that around, move that, add this, delete that, and change the other."  Then she'd only want to pay me what equated to $.03 per line.  She wanted 1:1 on her dictation to transcription ratios.  I told her to take her cheap account down the road because I'm worth more than that.
Oh, a report just came in. A report actually just slid in, can you believe it. Hip Hip Hooray. I

had better get that sucker typed before it gets out of ONE MINUTE TAT.

If you are careful with putting the correct report in the correct report shell and patient, you will
not have any problems. I only take away this option when someone is careless. There can be NO room for error on this. One mistake can be very serious. Many do it well though, so just double check and you will be fine.

don't type double spaces. Type single. Then no one will be cheated.

I can type with wine, can't type with coffee, though...too jittery.
x
That is, type the code above before and after what you want bolded in the text-to-type box. nm

For me it isn't an account type but a dictator type ...
and that would be oriental. An oriental dictator (hahaha, that kind of sounds funny...hahaha) is the most challenging for me.
No, you don't type directly into ES. You type in Word -
or whatever their platform is, just like you did with your tapes.

Then you do your line count in Word or the platform.
You should type them. I usually type them in parentheses following the diagnosis.
x
remind me, type what they say, type what they say, type....
"He indicated that at the beginning of the year he complained of health problems recently but has gotten better."  C'mon doc, which one is it?????
You spending 3K in gasoline to make 4K plus all that time on the road? That doesn't make sense Pat

Shorthand users: Is there a way to type a word, use a slash and then type another word..sm

immediately following the slash and have it expand.  For example if I needed to transcribe mass/sebaceous cyst, is there a way to use my expanded sebaceous cyst without having to back space after I type the slash mark?  TIA

How nice that the world revolves around what you make and no one else could possibly make more. sm

Marla in So. California pays 11 cpl for a 55 ccl, Oracle pays 9-1/2 cpl, MDI-MD 11 cpl, JLG 10 cpl for gross line, etc.

Of course, these are rates negotiated and paid to qualified MTs.

When I see mistakes I repeatedly make, I make a quickcorrect for it (sm)
for example if I type we plant o instead of "plan to" I have a quick corrct so that if I type plant o, it replaces it with plan to, etc. It is hard - I was with the same company for 8 years. I do not work for anyone with an accuracy requirement though.
When you make the copay, make them give you a sm
receipt for the amount you pay them.  I know they don't like to do this because it takes time, but if you are really stern and insist on a receipt they have to give you one.  Then, the next time you get billed for something you already paid, tell them to look for their copy of the receipt and let THEM do the work.
Yes, unfortunately you do have to make a pest of yourself to make it work, but.....
as the years went by that is why I stayed away from those type of companies.  BTW, Noni is a fabulous product, I absolutely do not care for the "marketing techniques" they use.  One of the facts of this type of industry is you cannot just recruit to make it, you have to retail.  Ever since I "overhauled" my techniques and system...I never had to ask another person to some on board again.  Well, nuf for now.  Take care and have a blessed week!!
lol cut myself off. Anyway, I'll make close to what I used to make with MQ,

Yes...Every Report
I have to admit, I proofread EVERY SINGLE REPORT. But I always have gone for overkill, and I am new. My one and only QA score was 98%. While I am proofreading (long reports), I sometimes stand up and stretch, or run and grab a snack or lunch so I don't feel like it is so much a waste of time. I suppose I will have to get to the point where I don't proofread every report, or I will never make any money! I may have to rethink my strategy if and when MQ increases their line quota for part time employees. Rumor has it at 8,000 lines per pay period, and I am only managing 6,000 and working long hours just to do that. Got to figure SOME way to speed up!
report
I get paid per report, $1.30, includes all accessions/requisitions -
for instance in one report if doc says this is an MRI of the Head, neck and 3d multiplanar I get 1.3 for each. I use Shorthand and I have eight years experience. I do anywhere from 80-120 reports a day.
There was a report in AL, I think, that there was

a live alligator swimming around the flood waters there in one area. The newscaster kept saying it was live and nobody would come out and was avoiding that area until it disappeared. It's probably waiting somewhere quietly for its next dinner to walk by.

Two of my accounts are in New Orleans and I have typed hundreds of patients with abscesses that tested positive for MRSA over the last few months. The way the city is now cannot be helping this at all. A few of the docs I do are automatically  treating for MRSA now w/o getting the culture report just because they've seen so many cases.

right! Fox would report a

That would be real news there.

No, the woman bought a LOUIS VUITTON with the money she got

(debit card).

ONE report probably
so they will need to add more MT's...LOL! I feel for all of you.
Per Report
The highest I have heard of anyone paying per report is $2 with most paying less than that. Hope that helps.
Pay by report?

Hi, all:  I've been getting my own small clients here and there, and I've had a request for a proposal to radiology reports for a small radiology group.  Their current vendor is charging them by report, not line.  Anyone have any idea what to charge by report?  I've done some calculating with regard to average lines per report, and I'm thinking of offering to do it for $3 per report.  Any idea if this is too high or too low???  Any input is appreciated........

Per report

Working as an IC you should be charging $2 per report, that is what I charge my clients.  Good Luck!!!

I saw a report that said . . .
Heart rate 80 permanent. Do ya think he said per minute?
Report changes
Has anyone ever had someone go in and change your reports?  I don't mean change a small word or the wording of a sentence.  I am talking about taking out information and putting in information that the doctor did not dictate, making the report incorrect for the patient's records?  I found this happening to my work and need information on the legal ramifications, as well as how to handle this.
report changes

I work at home for a service, but not as an IC.  I found work changed by having a temporary copy on file - then the QA changes/corrections - and then relistened and found changes made that affected the whole report, different medications, different procedures and PMH, etc.  Information that will probably one day go on to another physician that is incorrect and that I did not transcribe, but with my initials on the report.  Of course, I realize that once the physician signs it that the liability is on him, but it's just inconceivable that someone would do this.  I saw this happen one other time when I worked in house and one Transcriptionist didn't like another one and this was done in order to try and get the disliked employee fired.  However, it did not involve my work then.  I keep thinking that MTs all think ethically and with a legal obligation to the patient, but I know in reality that to some it is just a job.  I am tetering on talking to the company and/or the account manager, especially since I have everything in black and white - the first report - the QA corrections - the changes to the report after it came back to me, etc.  I'm just looking for some guidance on how to handle the situation.

I had one report from one md....sm

I had one MD last week that had this dinging sound throughout his report......I hit no key accidentally or held a key down.  This was on the dictator's side, this dinging noise.....

$1.20 per report
ask what are the margins, font, length of reports for per page or gross lines

also what do you mean by "plus paid for links?" is this something additional that you do for the report?
$1.20 per report
I have been offered $1.30, $1.50, $1.75 to $2.00 per page depending on the average length of report.
definitely report it
That is very disturbing to me. She was very unprofessional and not that I want to know what she said, but is it something she did that should be reported to authorities?
