go to Google and type in Florida (pick a state) medical license it will bring up the licensing board for that state and other web sites. Out of the 3 states I use most, I am able to search just by first, last name or county. I usually search with first name, county and the first initial of the last name to narrow it down.

Another suggestion, google a specific state's dept. of medical or professional licensing.

I've got the Missouri Division for Professional Registration --> which you can look up MDs, DOs, RNs, PACs, LPNs, etc.

Kentucky has a board of medical licensure website with a search function.  Indiana has a state professional licensing website.

In some states, like California and Texas, they separate the nurses and doctors, so there are two separate sites to search.  If you have a nurse practitioner dictating, it's good to know.

I'm not at my own PC as I'm working in the office right now so I don't have access to all my different sites, so I'm trying to remember what all I have.

Let's see.... WebMD is a good one.

If I think of anymore, I'll post 'em!

I said every state has a licensing board. lol
Every state has a medical society. lol

State boards
Here in Oregon there is a posting on the state board that shows complaints, etc. against doctors.  So you might try that.
I see it now, thanks! On the state boards it's
This made my day (how sad is that???). I guess we don't need to go to the Comedy Stop unless there's a new joke anyway . . . (LOL)
State Boards
Why don't we all try the State Boards on this site?  We could really network.  This site has been a big help to me and my endeavors.  Thanks to the administrator and all who support it!
Please see our state boards. NM

I haven't been able to get on that page for weeks.
State Boards

Anybody else having trouble getting on the state boards?  When I try is says it cannot display the page.  Just wondering if it is just me.

State boards?
Does anyone know what happened to the State Boards forum on MtStars? I was trying to click on it but it doesn't look clickable. I want to look for hospital jobs in my state and thought people on there would have some info.
State Boards are Active Now!
Click the Menu on your left.

Thanks,
MTStars Support Team.
You could try your State Boards board at this site ...
and ask if anybody in your area knows the scoop, assuming you don't mind mentioning the name of the hospital. Or you could give its initials I suppose.

Have you tried the state boards here to find other ICs in your area?
.
Doctors sometimes will post on the state boards, though
usually they don't post, but ask other doctors who they use.  If they do post it would most likely be in your local classified ads.
very few responses on the State Boards on a daily basis
So I thought I would try the main board. If I don't get a response in a couple of hours, I guess it could be taken off.
Thanks

If the state boards are no longer active, why haven't they been removed so people don't waste

There are state children's medical programs available.
She should look into it. That's one less stressor for her.
I think now only with the licensing would there be an issue, but after you download the CD more than
of the electronic CDs. I had a computer crash and had them on my work and home computer then my home computer crashed, had to get in touch with them to verify that I had originally purchased the CD, yada yada, but finally got it straightened out from their technical support people. So I would check with them first before doing anything, JMO... Hope this helps!
I am sorry. I meant boards not broads. Now those darn boards have disappeared again.

Could anyone give me an insurance or maybe licensing website that shows where hyperbaric
oxygen therapy is located?  Need one close to where I am considering moving to.  Thank You.
but boards will be dano's boards and that's the issue. no one dare disagree with dano.
yes the boards will be boring with just one-sided opinions but we need to please dano. isn't that the purpose of MT Stars?
Work for a company in a state that has no state income tax
I think there are 3 or 4 out there (Florida, Texas, and a few others.)  Then you really avoid the tax situation.
Name a state and put every company in that state under suspicion.

Tell what the first letter of the company is and every company with that initial will be suspect.  I would imagine that everyone who works for that company has received an inquiry from department of labor, so they would all be aware of it.

Why do we persist in setting up companies to be torn down when there is no reason for it.  If a company is suspect, then give the name of the company, don't give big hints that cover at least 5 companies, 4 of which may be the best companies to work for, but fall into the category of an alphabetical letter, etc.

Contact your local BBB in your state and in their state if different from yours.

Not mandatory, as you state it depends on your state - sm
or county. Where I am I do not need it; though if I was cutting grass or landscaping I would where I live, makes no sense to me as I am providing a service, but very happy I don't have to have one. We pay personal property tax here and I would have to list all my business related equipment and pay taxes on it every year I was in business. So until I am told otherwise by my county, I will not be getting a business license.
I would buy new a Dorland's Medical Dictionary, Stedmans Medical and Surgical Equipment...SM

and Tessier's The Surgical Word Book, 3rd edition.  Books you could buy used I would say would be Stedman's Pathology and Lab Medicine and Cardiology/Pulmonary word book.  These are all the books I use the most during my day.  You could buy other speciality word books as you need them and could probably go used with those.

I wouldn't bother with buying a drug book, new editions come out every year and I just stick to the FDA website and RXList as my drug references.

Also FYI, not a book, but I use my Stedman's Electronic Medical Dictationary a lot.  It's easier to open the program than it is to pick up a huge 30-pound dictionary.

Medical Transcription In The Era Of Electronic Medical Records
EMR has revolutionized the healthcare industry in recent times. Many experts felt that EMR & Voice Recognition would totally replace Medical Transcription - however; the industry soon realized that transcription has certain advantages over point & click charting and many physicians preferred to dictate notes rather than document the data at the point of care themselves.

Some of us CHOOSE to go through life as a REALISTS!

Things are different from state to state, but I think
you probably could, if you are actually "laid off."  You would have to get a letter from your surgeon regarding your temporary disability status and take to the unemployment office and to Medicaid....but you know how Medicaid works, 1.5 pennies over the income limit, you don't get it.  But, as I stated, laws differ from state to state, so you would have to inquire or go on their websites and see what they will approve and what they will not.
If not in your state, try filing in THEIR state. Then they

Each state has different laws. Where I live, if I have clients in the same state I live in, yes I ne
have clients from another state, no I do not need a license. Every state is different. I checked with my attorney and the State Business offices.
At ease, soldier! This isn't a medical document. I repeat, this isn't a medical document. nm

I've thought about coding. My DH does medical coding and I think with an MT's medical termino

background and anatomy and physiology knowledge, a transition into coding wouldn't be hard at all.  From what I can tell by looking through my husband's books, an MT would have to learn insurance regulations and legalities.  We've basically got all the medical background down or we should be if we're worth our salt as an MT.

I even contacted AHIMA and found that the qualifications for taking the CCS or CCP coding exams are completion of the a coding program, RHIT program, or RHIA or related work experience.  Transcription is part of HIM, albeit the red-headed stepchild of the HIM department, but a part nonetheless and so satisfies the qualification of having work experience.

The test is tough though.  My husband didn't pass it his first time out and I think I read something like only 20% or so pass it the first time.  So it would probably be best to take some sort of formal coding class, in my opinion.

I am new to the boards...
and I am not too sure if I want to stay on these boards. I am afraid to say (write) something wrong and get crapped on! I think that *some* people need to grow up. You are ruining it for everyone one else that enjoys to post and read the boards!
Welcome to the boards!

If you look at the ads on various job boards they

list equipment.  Some still use C-phone, some use Lanier, some use wav pedals, some require you to rerecord and there are still a few small local ones that still use tapes.  Even though some companies use the internet, some you download and work off-line, others you have to be connected the whole time you are working so high-speed is a must, either cable or DSL.   I you are going to buy a foot pedal I'd get a generic that would work with ExpressScribe or Start/Stop, one that is capable of working with multiple types of voice files.  The ExpressScribe software is free so you just need the pedal.   I haven't read your other posts so don't know if you are trying to go on your own of what, but if you are working for a company I wouldn't buy a foot pedal until you have a job where you need one.  Some companies use a proprietary software and you need a specially configured foot pedal.  You can always download the free ExpressSribe and use the keys to do any testing.

we don't have to be 100% on these boards...

I see improper usage of their, there, they're all the time on the boards but doesn't mean that's what the poster uses in medical reports - sometimes people just forget and type the wrong word on public boards -

Except for the word board, the admin here at this site says we are never to correct the poster's typo.....so let it go, let God, and not to worry.

One should never assume anything in this business - one of the first rules of thumb.

MT boards
You'll have to do a Google search or maybe someone will email you. There are others, but it is against the rules of this website to direct people to them, at least on these boards.
and all the other job boards - there are may outside of two.
x
There are already boards where you can
do this and they can also post on the various word boards.  I help on the word boards when I can, one even has at least 1 physician who frequently helps, and with a word board you get a whole lot more experience than you would working one-on-one with someone.
Have seen it on other non-MT boards too
Don't know if it is the general mindset of people in tought times; participation at another site I frequent is down significantly because of the negative and attacking posts.

Hi,

Anyone there who could help me out finding the latest abbreviations list.
I even want the latest drug list because my current program does not have many drugs.

Your English teacher does not do medical reports. This is for medical reports.

Do you believe everything you read here on these boards? No one knows any better

All boards are up and running.
