I have been using $10 ear buds from Target for 8 years. sm
I know a lot of people think I'm nuts, but they have worked absolutely fine for me for all these years. They don't last forever, probably 4 months per pair, but a lot of times I'll find them for 2 pair/$10. I'm not even loyal to one brand, but my current pair are Koss.
I wear comfy thermal pants and tank tops. sm

see no need to look professional, feel professional, in the privacy of my home.  My work is professional, and that is what they get.

Even when I am what would be considered unkempt, I make a terrific line count.

I like an expensive Koss brand I get at
Wal-Mart.  They fit around the back of your head, have a big "muff" (don't know what you call them) and don't squeeze so tight you sweat.  I think they are are $9.99.   They only last me about a year though as one of the wires seems to break and you don't get sound in both ears.  I've had several pair of them and really like them other than having to replacement them every year or so.
I use a cheap Koss headphone. They go behind your head and the ear pieces are
big, but don't cover the entire ear.  They are stereo with a volume control in-line.  They cost $20 or less at Wal-Mart and I have to replace about once a year because a wire breaks and I don't get stereo.  Any of bud ones hurt my ears.
I live in Lancaster, PA and you should check out the Sound and Light Show near Strasburg. nm

CHEAP recorder, awesome sound!
My doctor uses an Olympus ws110, which he paid less than $70.00 for. He dictates, it comes apart and has a USB connector inside. It plugs into his computer, he downloads the dictations, and he e-mails them to me. I type them, e-mail them back. You can get digital signatures in e-mail for around $20 each (one for you, one for her) and no one can open the e-mails but you two. I love the whole set up! Best of luck to you.
Good hunch but why did she target
the coffee house?  Alex was after Daniel, not Kevin.  I think she has something to do with that chick (can't think of her name) that was in cahoots with Tom Fisher and who took Lauren's baby years ago.  Time will tell.
Take it all the way to the top. I have even emailed Target hqters before. Didn't do any good
:+
I agree about Target but there are some things I cannot buy at Target and Walmart
has the best prices. I just don't have excess cash to avoid shopping at Walmart too.
I am so glad to hear you talk about VR in a good light
I have a jewel of a platform and you can make a decent salary. It is not garbage and like you said, the people here complaining are ones who do not have a good system. You have to be fast in scanning and hearing. If you are a slow typist to begin with, I have no idea how this would play into a person who does really good with VR. I do not fit that category and the people I have know that did VR did not either.
Good luck -- it is not cheap
I had a job offer that required it too. They didn't offer me enough per line to even afford it. I spoke with a lawyer and he said the company should carry that-- not the MT. You cannot get it just from your local insuracne person, you have to go to a speciality company like a doctor or nurse would use. I think you can buy it from AAMT.
If you are good enough typist to wear off letters,

Does anyone have recommendation of a good treadmill? My cheap one..sm
just threw me off for the second time in about a month (the belt slips when going over 2.6 MPH).  I have treadmill burns down both shins, one hand and an ugly bruise.  I was not able to grab the "safety cord" in time to shut if off.  I know good ones are quite expensive and have looked on Consumer Reports but would like to have personal recommendations if possible.  TIA!
Does anyone know of a good, but cheap spell check program? sm
Just did an upgrade to XP and have lost my "free" Spellex that I got with my schooling on my old computer. I have a new job but cant afford to buy the Spellex program yet. Any good ones that do both medical and drug names that is CHEAP? I plan to buy the spellex again when I get a few paychecks, but for now I need something. It is getting really tiring looking up so many drug names!
It is good to know it is acceptable to wear slippers to the store, I have been wondering about
:}
Good for you! You sound like a very nice and generous person and you deserve all your good luck! nm

Sorry, I don't wear "smarty pants." I wear thongs. Hehehe

not sure if the same, but I was taking olive leaf extract (a good brand) and felt great...

I wonder if that would be of the same benefit...just off for a few months because of money reasons!  any health food store carries it, but, of course, you want a good one.

also, evening oil of primrose is great, still taking that because there was a sale on it...love it.

Tuna mac, green beans, bread slices. Very cheap and good.
All in the world tuna mac is, is a can or two of tuna drained and mixed in with the box kind of mac n' cheese. Serve with a can of green beans and a slice of bread.
Go with Light or Extra Light Ash Blonde as

Thanks for the answers, everyone! I got a cheapie Maxell pair. I had

I have a cheapie Netgear--totally reliable for 2+
nm
Love them, though bought a cheapie $300 Proform- hard to use-
it is belt-driven-- Wish I had sprung more $$ on it. Have used the ones at the gym when I was a member, loved them, could do 30 minutes w/o any trouble. Have get to go over 5 minutes on mine at home. Recently got a treadmill ($800 on sale for $600), like it a lot, though ellipital is a lot better for you.
ear buds
I wouldn't use anything other than ear buds.  I have a big pair of noist-canceling earphones, but I use them only in an emergency - or when I am practicing the electric piano at 2 a.m. and don't want to disturb everybody.  I can't stand anything heavy hanging in my ears, and I really don't like anything up over my head, either.  I think the ear buds are great.  I used to pay a fortune for them from Lanier years ago; now I buy cheap ones wherever I can get them.  I also have an extension in case the ones I buy have a short cord.
Ear buds for me! nm

Wow. Does not sound good to me!
//
You can get Maxell ear buds (sm)
at Wal-Mart for 99 cents. They worked great for me.  I got them on a lark just to see how the quality was and was very pleasantly suprised.
You are screwing up my ear buds...
because when I read these very profound posts of yours, I smile too broadly, makes my external auditory canals expand or something because my ear buds fall out in my lap.

GASP! I read MTStars while working! Gotta do something to break the monotony.

Hey, put the booby cam on the pig's boobies. Boobs are boobs and guys don't care what they are attached to, at least those guys that look at booby cams.
GET A GOOD SOUND CARD.
I was having problems understanding certain doctors. I changed the sound card in my computer and what a difference that made. It spend around 70.00 to do this but my production line count went up and my errors went down. Also, invest in a good pair of head phones. I spent 50.00 on a pair of Sony earbud earphones (noise reduction type) at Best Buy. They are the best of the best. Good luck to you.
WW is a good sound program (sm)
that nearly anyone can follow because it involves "real food" and no restrictions. I don't know about you, but when I'm told I can only eat this or that and not to eat this or that, that's when I start to fail at a "diet."

I see someone else suggested Atkins, and from what I've seen of a lot of people on that, usually it's not a lifestyle choice. They lose weight but if they change their eating habits, pounds come back with a few friends. South Beach, from what I understand, is also along the way of Atkins but they do promote good carbs, I'm guessing whole wheat/grains as opposed to simple sugar grains.

If you are currently not overdoing it on calories and following a fairly healthy diet, I would suggest upping the amount of time you walk, plus making sure you are getting in plenty of water. I walk 5 miles per day, takes 60 minutes, and in my weight loss phase, I lost on average 2 pounds per week. Sometimes 2-1/2, but averaged per month about 8-10 pounds. Do you have an extra 30 minutes to add to your walking regimen? Also, I did light toning, which also helps burn more calories, even at rest.

I don't know what your budget is like, but you could probably drop that extra 20 simply by walking more.
geeezz that does not sound good

Doesn't sound too good sm

I wonder if there is something else we could use our skills in that makes more money, maybe in medical records or billing and coding.  Maybe being paid in something that pays hourly would be more beneficial.  I am aware there are medical transcriptionists who really do make good money with benefits.  Guess they have the right accounts to do so.

Doesn't sound good, does it?
Since it's the line coming to your house that matters and TW apparently has the monopoly on that, you may have to crunch some numbers to see if it's worth it to rethink how you pay for your entertainment bundle. Ours is bundled as satellite TV/phone/DSL. If we had cable as opposed to DSL, it would definitely be easier to regroup. I wish you luck.
Please keep the puppy away from that little girl. I don't like the sound of it. Good for you sm

with the camera.  Keep that video for a long time!  People's memories have a way of fading.

Shelties are the sweetest, gentlest dogs, but their instinct is to nip feet in an attempt to herd.  Have fun with your new sweetie!

so whose job was it to hire these MTs? doesn't sound like they did a good job.
who else you want to relieve of their work duties? the recruiters, the testers, the trainers, the owners?
Yuck! That doesn't sound good...thanks! :) NM

Be very careful!!! Does not sound like a good place to go. nm

COMFY COMFY COMFY
I wear those real comfy pants that tie and are flared. They kind of look like slacks. I write them all off on my taxes for "uniforms" because my circulation goes in jeans.
Comfy
Personally I find them to be very light weight and comfy. The headphones are adjustable in size and collapsable (which in my experience is great because they don't tend to break easily). I'm not ashamed to say to say that I have been known to roll over a pair or two with my office chair or throw them off hastily to answer a call or a child in need and then forget and step on them. waaaaaaaaah!
All I ask is for clearly speaking dictators and good sound quality and I would be a

Thanks for the info! Are they comfy too?
I knew about Bose noice cancelling headphones for $100, but just hated to pull out the money.  I was going to wait for the new year to purchase them.  I want to give these a try!  Thank you so much for the info.  It was sweet of you.  Maybe I will let go of my MQ stock too for these.(HOHO)   Merry Christmas to you and all on the forum :)
So comfy. Wish it would work for me.
I'm short, and my legs are really, really short. I don't reach the end of a recliner. Anyway, it's best if I sit upright. I fall asleep now while upright! LOL
Sound like a good guy who has the sense to realize he is not speaking to a machine.

Anyone can recommend headphones--good to great sound--Help-- See inside

Hi everyone.  I have a need for some headphones with great sound.  Years ago at Radio Shack for approximately $50.00 you could get the best headphones, like the CIA uses for listening I think :)  The sound was fantastic and far better than our MT headphones.

Well, now I have an account with very unclear, low volume.  I just need better sound coming to the ears.  Like in the olden days when I just typed because I could actually hear what they were saying!

If anyone has any great headphones, that minimize listening time and maximize typing time, please post or email me.  I left my email address, just click the link to email.  Thanks SOOOOOO much.  Thanks.  Really.  Thanks.

Good luck to your daughter!!! The songs sound great!

Sound is usually good. Separate line is better if you don't want to tie up your main phone all

I got a nice comfy one at Staples for $99 - sm
relatively cushy and has arm rests too (if you want arm rests that is). Nice grey suede-like material too. I still have to squinch around sometimes just for a change in position but I think that is unavoidable with sitting so long.
I love to sit on my chair it is comfy.

great comfy chairs
Hi!  There are office chairs by Herman Miller that offer great comfortable chairs designed for people that sit most of the day.  They are expensive starting from $500 and up.  I got the middle of the line and I have to tell you that I don't mind sitting now and worth every penny.  I still take my breaks but this chair is like heaven.  they flex with the movement of the person.  you can also go to cns.com for a full description and ordering.  you would not regret it!
Invest in a really good sound card - makes a huge difference
:)
What type of headphones do you use? Anyone use Sony Noise Cancelling Fontopia Ear buds?
