not sure if the same, but I was taking olive leaf extract (a good brand) and felt great...

I wonder if that would be of the same benefit...just off for a few months because of money reasons!  any health food store carries it, but, of course, you want a good one.

also, evening oil of primrose is great, still taking that because there was a sale on it...love it.

I finally did it and it felt great! Lol.. I had
a computer that was a piece of JUNK. My husband and kids heard me almost daily yelling at the computer it that it was going to go flying out the window. Well, this morning it tripped and fell out the 2nd story window into the backyard and is now in computer heaven. My new computer is now about 1000 times faster than the other one. No errors, web pages are opening up when I try and open them up, files are opening instead of saying not found, etc. May the old one rest in peace.
Yep, its a great life out there ladies???Just felt like say that. NM

I felt crappy for 8 days..while coming off carbs..but now feel great..don't forget calories still
for those who are carb sensitive..its a godsend and a lifestyle. I really like this site: http://www.lowcarbluxury.com

there are TONS of wonderful recipes. I made the chicken cordon blue for the whole family and mock mashed taters..yummy!! Obviously not the same but I was a happy camper to have mashed again. Good luck!
Taking time off without the worries is great

I think too many times IC's are treated like employees.  The OP is an IC and has a set schedule?   If you have a set schedule (no freedom), you should be deemed an employee and given PTO days, etc.  IC's should not be made to let anyone know anything.    Two weeks is an extended amount of time and out of courtesy she should let her "client" even if that is an MTSO know in advance that she will not be available to work those two weeks.  As for toting a laptop on vacation, not me!  The whole idea of a vacation is to relax and not have to worry about typing.  Most physicians do understand that you need a vacation.  They will cut you some slack.  Not sure about a two week period though.  Someone with their own accounts that wants to take off extended periods of time (more than one week) should probably find someone to "cover".    I have also found in this profession that transcriptionists do not trust others as they could try to steal their accounts if they were to take time off leaving the account in someone else's hands literally.  All the more reason to network and find someone trustworthy who will scratch your back and you in turn scratch their back when needed.  Tit for TAT so to speak but at a fair price.

You need a macro to rearrange the name. Excel makes it easier to extract first or last names. nm

taking the bad with the good sm

I see a lot of posts complaining about hospitals with many specialties and many different dictators and not wanting to do ESLs etc.  I have got to voice my opinion about this.

While most folks don't like to do ESLs/bad dictators (myself included) it is a PART of the job!  If you have many different departments/specialties/ESLs you are probably doing a teaching hospital.  If you are doing a large teaching hospital usually that is the "bread and butter" of the company that you work for.  Being in this business for so many years, I hear MTs, new and long time MTs, complain about their accounts.  When I get complaints about large teaching hospitals, if possible I take that person off that account, BUT I also warn them that while I can NEVER guarantee the workload it makes it harder when folks don't want to do certain accounts or certain dictators.  It is a part of the job.  Most of the ti these same people are the ones who are screaming first if the work is slow.

After almost 30 years, there are dictators I despise just like anybody else, but I take the good with the bad.  My opinon is that any MT should make it their plan to learn how to do every type of MT, not just certain kinds of reports or dictators.  It saddens me when I hear folks who do not know how to do operative reports or some other kind of dictation and don't want to learn.  You will never be a successful MT or feel completely comfortable if you are not willing to learn everything you can.  Besides if you are willing to learn everything and can do any type of transcription you make yourself a more valuable MT!  To do that it takes years of experience.

MT is a continuous learning experience.  No one EVER knows EVERYTHING  about this profession as medicine changes at an unbelievable rate.  MTs should be continuously learning.  In my opinion, a good MT always wants to be learning.

This is my opinion and I hope I didn't get anyone ticked off.

Good point. If she left then she is taking the

younger child away from HER father and there is much less chance of finding a third man who is going to love and raise both children the way they should be raised.

I think it's best to try to work through it, maybe try some counseling and try to make DH realize that he has to fill the role of "dad" for both children.  If he is basically a good man, then this is not the end of the world.

Also, OP states she's not making much money.  She would be putting both her children in a situation of financial disaster, plus no father for them.  Bad idea.

Yes, it's not good. The only space children should be taking up...
Many kids do not even go outside, ride bicycles, play tag or hide and seek anymore, you know the *normal* childhood things we used to do, because they're in the house on my-space talking to their friends. Kids just aren't the same these days and it's very sad.
Very good ideas! Thanks for taking the time to share.

Thank you for taking the time to post this good advice. NM

Must not be too good then. I'm kicking butt and taking names

olive oil
I'm a big fan of olive oil but at 14 grams of fat per tablespoon, 4 tablespoons per 1/4 cup, that would be 64 grams of fat per day! That's a lot of fat even if its a healthy fat. How will that affect you in the long run.
olive oil
I use it in baking. I've found in muffins, cakes, cornbread, etc., if I use olive oil instead of regular oil or shortening I can use half of the amount called for and whatever I'm baking is always light and fluffy. I love it.
Thank you, Olive! :o)
I'm thankful for the review, as I have seen those advertise and there is one on craigslist. I should start saving up now for one I guess.
Low grade olive oil is the best.
s
wonder if olive oil and a smatter of vinegar would

CMs are olive, brown or black - not in NC, but in SC - sm
look it up on Google and you will get some sites which show pictures. Maybe you can identify it that way.
I've been using olive oil daily for the last 5 years
and my weight is stable and normal.

However, I don't use NEARLY a 1/4 cup! just a little on my salad or for cooking.
I realize I may regret extending the olive branch but

to tell you the truth, I have always rooted for the underdogs.

My very best friend in the world once tied my hair in knots (before we were friends,) added some gum and dirt to the mix too.  This was back when I was in the 3rd grade. Her parents made her come and apologize and we have been very thick ever since.

She didn't have many friends either.  She was kind of a bully and the kids were all basically scared of her.  I am proud to say that I could rely on her in a pinch going on 25 years now.

On the advice of one of the posters, I will make sure that the pup is in the clear with animal control and the local police just to be safe.  I have a friend who volunteers at the local animal shelter where we adopted our puppy.  He teaches obedience classes for the dogs and caregiving for the owners.  All of this he does for free.

Perhaps if all goes well with the neighbors, I will suggest to the dad that he and his daughter accompany us to some of these classes when we go.  Maybe she can learn to love the animals and they can help heal her a little too.

There I go again, rootin for the underdog.

Blue on the walls, textured olive green carpet,

hydrangea sculptured border, olive green curtains I designed and made, 2 office chairs to give the ol' back a break, desk placed just so in order to be able to look out 2 different windows, 1-3 cats who come and stay as they please, and 1 little dog who never leaves the office unless I do.  There are also the necessary things like a bookcase, printer, backup computer, nik-nacks and paddy wacks.

I am so completely blessed cause I have all this AND get paid!  Who wouda thunk??

toss in olive oil, sprinkle with salt, pepper and paprika

My good old days were great..SM
worked full time for a local hospital from home, making 14 cpl, 1 month off a year to start, full health insurance, short-term, long-term disability, all equipment and phone lines supplied.  Those 2 years I made more $ than ever and haven't been able to reach that level since.  They outsourced.
Great post! Good to know : )

That is GREAT news! Good for you!

That IS a rainbow after a storm now!

I am truly happy for you and KUDOS to that hospital system for yanking those jobs out of the grips of the greedmonger MTSOs in India.

I would apply myself if I didn't have to drive to Michigan!!

I hope all goes well with you.  Congratulations.

It sounds **great** ... Good luck! sm
They'll probably already have all the reference materials you need! My hospital did. I don't think it will take you a long time to get comfortable there. It sounds like a terrific gig!
What a GREAT idea! Good for your company. nm

Deliver newspapers. I do. Good $$$, great exercise.

I do approximately one hour each morning (walking).  This past week I made $160 tax free  for 7 hours of "exercise." :)

My theory is why get up early and walk the dog when you can walk the dog and make money while you're at it.

My sister and her husband did a motor route together and made $500+ a week.

And the Christmas tips?  CHA CHING!!!  I made almost $600 last year with 65 customers.  My sister and her husband made close to $2000.00.

Need some good advice on a GREAT vacuum cleaner...sm
We vacuum at least twice daily because we bought carpet that tracks like you would not believe.  We bought a Eureka bagless vacuum cleaner about 4 months ago and it is the pits!  Does not pick up, you have to REALLY clean it every time...who knows what the real problem is...I would not mind paying good money for a GOOD vacuum cleaner that does not lose suction...Any ideas?
Anyone can recommend headphones--good to great sound--Help-- See inside

Hi everyone.  I have a need for some headphones with great sound.  Years ago at Radio Shack for approximately $50.00 you could get the best headphones, like the CIA uses for listening I think :)  The sound was fantastic and far better than our MT headphones.

Well, now I have an account with very unclear, low volume.  I just need better sound coming to the ears.  Like in the olden days when I just typed because I could actually hear what they were saying!

If anyone has any great headphones, that minimize listening time and maximize typing time, please post or email me.  I left my email address, just click the link to email.  Thanks SOOOOOO much.  Thanks.  Really.  Thanks.

Good luck to your daughter!!! The songs sound great!

So you felt the need to be at the top?

Let me give you a little advice and that is find a hobby.  I like to read, swim, and go to the beach.  Do you have anything that you do for fun?  Defending yourself now is a little too late after the original post of bashing MTs and categorizing.  A lot of us really do not feel compelled to post our education, years of experience, etc. to feel above all.  The answer to not wanting to deal with MTs really is as the other poster states to quit.  Why not just try MTing again, it may boost your energy level, and you won't feel like you have to deal with the MTs you speak of in your OP from the other day.  If you are not new to this board, then you should already know that any QA that posts here usually gets a backlash because they almost always come off as greater than thou.  Good luck to you, and I do hope you find your way soon.

So, you would have felt safer...
with Saddam in power?  Try to think beyond the simple.  Have a bigger vision.  Please, give me solutions to this problem.  How would you propose we defeat Islamic radicalism?  There are those who saw this coming 20+ years ago.  The 10+ years leading up to WWII were similar.  Europe chose to ignore the Nazi thread, hoping it wouldn't touch them.  This isn't going away.  It has to be changed fundamentally.  You want to put out fires, and there are those who want to clear the brush and prevent the fire.
We felt that way about our house, too.
I absolutely hated living here because it was older, shabby and way too small for us. However, we've been working on it for the past year a little bit at a time. We're regulars at the hardware store now. The only big thing we did was to build an addition on the back of it because we came into some cash, but we've doubled the value of the house. You don't have to be that drastic, but a nice coat of paint and some reorganizing does wonders.

I hated renting. It was overpriced, the landlords were unreasonable, and we were always stuck with 6-12 month contracts.
Got it thanks all - felt so dumb and my
teenager wasn't home.
That is exactly how I felt until several years ago
I started reading books on Buddhism and Hinduism.... I grew up in a very strict Pentecost church. I hated religion then. I believe in my heart that God simply wants us to have faith and to believe in his existence, and in loving one another and caring about all that he created. I believe in my own personal opinion that he would be very disapproving of the division in religion.. I don't believe this is what he intended.

Great books to read if you are intersted.. send an e-mail .
There are enough changes I felt it was worth it.
Can't list all the changes - but as in any profession - things change.
And to think....I actually felt bad when they banned me...
I just used a different email, but then I was very careful and didn't post a lot of things I wanted to say for fear of being banned again. ->sap<-
Absolutely. Felt this way for a while. The only way out of this
type of thing right now at least for me (I decided recently) was to find the most honest (well let's say that is 97% honest) on the line counting, the best benefits, and those who know me by name, where there is always work and where I do not have to worry Big Brother is over my shoulder. There are several MTs on my account making 1500 to 2K lines a day, so it is possible to get the kind of money we used to including the incentive... at least a big percentage. I found this after realizing the hospitals by me outsourced overseas, no more onsite hospital job for me, and after working for 1 giant MTSO and cheated, 1 little MTSO and cheated (for 2 years I might add), and then trying out a handful of positions last fall. Finally got the place I mentioned above and I am holding on tight. BTW: I wanted to work for Michael's arts and crafts and get out of the house, but guess what I was under and over qualified! Plus with the price of gas and clothes these days, (and daycare) this MT gig still beats going into the workforce at least for me.
So using me as an example:
1. you are not alone.
2. put your priorities on paper and
3. you have to go through a lot of trying out first-hand different places and situations and find what fits you best. It will never be 100%, but it beats sitting on a low line count and having high BP. Good luck to you!
