You've got a point there. I haven't had a problem since I deleted Norton

Someone posted this site a while ago for test files. sm

Transferring files is easy with the Importer

You can easily transfer your AutoCorrect files using the Importer in Instant Text. In the Importer, you simply click on the AutoCorrect button, then IT will pull the AutoCorrect file directly from Word and instantly convert it into a glossary file. You can also import files from other programs as well.

To assist in the learning curve, Instant Text comes with a manual and free tech support to help get you started. It also comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee so you can try it out risk-free for one month.

For more information regarding Instant Text, please see the link below:

Honestly, the test files ARE representative of what you're going to

work from on a daily basis.  Take heed!  It's not the file format, it's the doctors and their system.

I've been hired without testing, and I really don't like to go through training only to find out that the sound files are inaudible.  I really am glad for the companies that test, although I previously grumbled about how much time it took.  It's a bigger waste of my time and theirs to find out that I can't understand the sound files after going through the hiring and training process.  Be glad you find out before you're hired that the sound quality is lousy.  Most of the good files go to voice recognition or overseas any more.

You can download Express Scribe for free at http://www.nch.com.au/scribe/  That will probably play the files better than through WMP.

Yes, but the test files are indicative of the actual work.
If the sound quality was so terrible, you didn't want to work there anyways! Right? I do know how you feel. I brain fahrvegnugened on the difference between brady and tachy. Now, everybody knows that one. I just got momentarily confused on it because I get "deer in the headlight" syndrome on oral testing.
Question about the foot pedal with test files. sm

Sorry to digress, but I have tested for several companies and my foot pedal did not work with their wave files. I had to resort to hand controls for the test files.

Am I missing something?  I sure would like to know because I hate testing with hand controls.

Thank you

Safe, easy way to transfer files over internet?

Hello

I need to safely transfer audio files over the internet.  The physicians' office staff will be sending me the audio files, so this needs to be something fairly easy, so I can teach them, and it won't take too much of their time each week.  Picking up tapes is beginning to get too time consuming and uses a lot of gas.  Can anyone tell me the safest, easiest, and most cost effective way of doing this.  I bought each of the physicians a digital hand-held record that converts the files into wav files.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I also posted this on technical board, but I am desperate, as we need to begin the change ASAP.  Thank you!  Lynn

Easy free alternative to FTP for uploading lots of files?
I currently have a temp account that wants to send me a large # of files. I have tried to set them up with a free FTP utility but she is having trouble using it. For some reason she can receive files from me fine but cannot upload them from her computer, and I am stumped as to why this would be. So I am wondering if there is an alternative out there to FTP that is both easy and free (or low-cost). She's willing to FedEx them to me on CD if all else fails but any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks.
Express Scribe is very easy. Files download, you will see them, click on one and it starts when you
press your pedal.  That simple.

It's a test in progress to measure what MTs know and what type of test to give for the SM
different levels of MTs.  It's over $90.  That's a lot of money to pay to someone who is giving these tests for research as to what type of testing should be done for the different levels of MT.  The AAMT will probably take the results and make a test that they can give in India or the Phillipines or some other foreign country.

Filezilla is the software used to transfer files to an FTP server where the files "reside".

Not a medical typing test but this website can test you..

It's called www.typingtest.com

Atleast it will give you an idea.. Sadly, I had to take it twice before I passed it LOL

Neer's test is a shoulder impingement test

Don't think that has to do with the knee.  How about "bucket handle tear" of the knee?  Never heard of Neer having anything to do with the knee.

But why sign it to put the past behind? The past should have

It seems that they dredged up the past by wanting the release signed to keep them out of trouble for unfair employment practices.  Usually when a person ends the working relationship, they give formal written notice, the company accepts the notice, and the employment is over.  Smells pretty fishy to send a termination agreement and, oh by the way, sign this release.  LOL

Converting voice files to digital files

I have a Voice Solutions dictation system that will happily convert DS4000 voice files to digital when they are downloaded (wave files). However, it will not recognize any other files for conversion. I had a physician download .WAM files from his DS-30 and my dictation system would not convert it. Anyone have any suggestions?  I would greatly appreciate any input.

Thanks!!!

Did you save files in .rtf format? The files need to be
as a Word document or it won't count them. Could be the problem.
Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.

IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.

It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
Yeah a 30 minute test---work for free, he gets enough to test, his work is done - nm

Most companies do no use their only files (HIPAA). They use files provided by other companies, serv
If you can get through the test files, then the sound quality on the actual company files is better. And, the dictation is never as bad as the test files, plus you have QA to help with hard blanks.
Or maybe that in itself IS the test! It's really an ethics test, LOL. nm

It's real confusing ... however, my 2 cents? There's no possible way you could reach 100K a year at 8 cpl. Anyone who says they do is fibbing, IMO, or else they never sleep or eat and just transcribe all hours of the day.

At 8 cpl, assuming we're talking the standard 65-char. line, I think you'd be doing quite well to reach $30K a year. JMO.

I do not count it if it is just a sentence or two. If it is say a whole note, or close to it, I do count it and send a note stating what I did.

for some reason, they certainly were not offensive, so it is a bit weird. But what they said is NO! Not unless you work an awful lot (i.e. 7 days, probably 12-14 hour days). So yeah you could do it but you'd have no life, no husband either in the long run and no sanity.

Easy easy money they are!

I don't mind seeing those puppies filter in at all.  Same for H&Ps.  They are always different though, so can't really pop in the same pre-formatted autotext, but it's usually WHAMMO 2-3 pages at a time.  Give them a shot...you may just be pleasantly surprised!

Selling business deleted?

It was a friendly, I'm sorry you're going thru this, been there, done that post! This is beyond silly! Anyhooo, guess its not worth answering posts if they just get edited for no reason at all!  Maybe lots of others have answered you as well, but they disappear in a flash!
