Honestly, the test files ARE representative of what you're going to
work from on a daily basis. Take heed! It's not the file format, it's the doctors and their system.
I've been hired without testing, and I really don't like to go through training only to find out that the sound files are inaudible. I really am glad for the companies that test, although I previously grumbled about how much time it took. It's a bigger waste of my time and theirs to find out that I can't understand the sound files after going through the hiring and training process. Be glad you find out before you're hired that the sound quality is lousy. Most of the good files go to voice recognition or overseas any more.
You can download Express Scribe for free at http://www.nch.com.au/scribe/ That will probably play the files better than through WMP.

If the sound quality was so terrible, you didn't want to work there anyways! Right? I do know how you feel. I brain fahrvegnugened on the difference between brady and tachy. Now, everybody knows that one. I just got momentarily confused on it because I get "deer in the headlight" syndrome on oral testing.
Question about the foot pedal with test files. sm
Sorry to digress, but I have tested for several companies and my foot pedal did not work with their wave files. I had to resort to hand controls for the test files.
Am I missing something? I sure would like to know because I hate testing with hand controls.

Lab test site
This may have been posted before, but I just ran across it and thought it looked pretty handy. Since I do radiology transcription, I am not familiar with a lot of lab tests, so it is nice to have a place to look them up. Anyway, here it is:

Whether they have posted a job or not. If your work is being cut to the point you can not tolerate it, heck test on 10 of them!! Pay close attention to the ones that request U.S. MTs only. They are not timed. They are open-book. You are going to learn alot. What have you got to lose? You still don't have to quit your job if you do not want to but please share these companies on this site.

Whether they do anything or not is another thing, but just MAYBE if they get enough complaints, they might. I suggested that when they go out to check out a facility they actually LISTEN to some of the dictation these foreigners are putting out. I told them I had many years of experience but it was becoming almost impossible for me to do my job because of them. I decided it would not hurt and like I said, just MAYBE somebody will start taking notice.
If you posted the name of that "site" would you then get banned from this site?

My foot pedal is a 15 pin foot pedal that is plugged into the joy-stick port on my tower. I went to Radio Shack to get the 15-pin adapter to get it to work in the USB port. I think the adapter was maybe $15 or so. It works just fine.
Have my own ftp site for receiving wave files...return completed
reports to the doctor the same way... secure, safe, easy. I purchase the space from startlogic for $90 a year. Hope this helps!

I look on there and I did mine yesterday. Where can I see it. I did not come up with the list of resumes that seems to end in August.
It's a test in progress to measure what MTs know and what type of test to give for the SM
different levels of MTs. It's over $90. That's a lot of money to pay to someone who is giving these tests for research as to what type of testing should be done for the different levels of MT. The AAMT will probably take the results and make a test that they can give in India or the Phillipines or some other foreign country.

Don't think that has to do with the knee. How about "bucket handle tear" of the knee? Never heard of Neer having anything to do with the knee.
Converting voice files to digital files
I have a Voice Solutions dictation system that will happily convert DS4000 voice files to digital when they are downloaded (wave files). However, it will not recognize any other files for conversion. I had a physician download .WAM files from his DS-30 and my dictation system would not convert it. Anyone have any suggestions? I would greatly appreciate any input.

Several companies still train on site. In fact, we are piloting an on-site training sm
program, where everyone would come in to the Keystrokes office to train for 1 or 2 weeks. We have a large training room and feel that this may be a way to cover all aspects of an account, be right there to answer questions as they come up and have one-on-one contact.
It will be optional at this point and may not be more effective as remote training, but some people have expressed that they miss the training that you get when you start at a hospital.
We are trying to bridge that gap between working in-house somewhere and working at home.
It may seem out-dated in many ways, but sometimes going back to basics is a good step to take!

If you can get through the test files, then the sound quality on the actual company files is better. And, the dictation is never as bad as the test files, plus you have QA to help with hard blanks.

You really should not be asking for help if this is a test sm
If this is a test for school or employment, it really should be done by you. It is not a fair test if someone else does it for you. If this is not a test, please clarify and maybe people will help, but I think it is cheating otherwise.

why don't you just pick something...like @@@ or ??? or *** or something like that...leave it for where you find it inaudible, and when you send back your test just tell them. You could do ___inaudible___...anything. Just let them know when you send the test back. If you were actually working, then you'd go by the account specifics for how leave a blank, but for a test, just pick something appropriate and let them know.

too many times that people claimed they were transcriptionists, or could do a certain work type, only to find out they couldn't and were bluffing. Testing is the only way to tell if an applicant has any knowledge or not. Resumes don't always tell what their true skill level is.
That's the best way for a co to test you because they never know if someone sm

I did a 3 EPT's all were positive with lines that were hard to read and yes the lines took a few minutes to show and a blood test at the doctors office which confirmed, by the time you spend money on pregnancy tests you can go to your doctor and pay a 10.00 copay and get a result... just an idea !!! I'm officially 7 weeks !!!!!

AAMT likely won't flunk many of them. They wouldn't want to scare away the hordes of potential buyers of their BOS and CMT certification.
Who can take CMT test?
I am just curious if I live in Canada, would I be allowed to take the CMT test ? or is it just strictly for american MT's? Would it benefit me as a IC ?

I just took the 60-question self-assessment test. A passing grade is 51/60. After 16 years of acute care experience, I got 43/60 correct. That blows my mind!
I'm asking myself 'who needs this' ???
We can't help you take a test. You just have to do the best you can.
That's all any testee can do. After all, we aren't applying for the job. They expect you to leave blanks where you can't get something.
