It was rude in nature. 'Thanking' people for cherrypicking was uncalled for.

That was extremely rude & uncalled for.
Noone deserves to be harrassed or "kicked' when they're down!!
Its human nature to impose on other people whats right for yourself!

Even when its not asked for.  Maybe some people like to surround themselves with nonsense and chaos, where as I like peace and quiet!  I think people who like working with other people are either pretending or just plain crazy!

I have heard so many people rationalize cherrypicking and seen too many supervisors not deal with i
It's a scourge on this profession ... like the folks who gratefully accept absurdly dreadful line rates because -- "it's better than nothing"

It's why we're all making LESS than we did 10 years ago, 15 years ago ... made worse because that's even without adjusting for inflation ...
rude people? I would take good pay over polite people any day
Besides that they have never been rude to me and I have been here for almost 2 years. What do you consider a bad account?

I know my account is a little tough, but I am used to it. I am tough!
Rude people? I hardly think so. They are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with. sm
Not just management, but QA as well. No one is rude. They are a very understanding staff. There is one account that is hard but all it takes is getting used to it. Once you are used to it, it is no harder than any other ESL account that you would do anyplace else. I have heard all these things about TH from the archives and I have yet to come across rudeness or any kind of thing that I have read about in the archives. I would definitely pursue them if I were you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
yep, people are rude

I've had many experiences in fast food with people thinking they can just talk to me any way they please because i'm behind the register and they are having a bad day.

One place was Dunkin Donuts.  This was my first week on the job (I lasted two weeks).  These drunk girls came in late one night, and thought it would be fun to pick out doughnuts, have me put them in the box, then change their mind.  I was back and forth with this for about 20 minutes, and they were having a good old time.  It was humiliating to say the least.

Another was at Jack in the Box.  Also my first week, they had me on the front counter AND drive through.  That night, unbeknownst to the manager, was the Garth Brooks concert.  It was me and the cook, and a line of cars wrapped around the place and in the front.  Anyways, since it was just me (getting the orders wrong left and right trying to go fast...people are so picky, wanting no pickle or pickle added, they do not know there is no key on the register for that, so I basically winged it)the people had long waits, and a very angry man and his son pull up and give me an ear full...WE'VE BEEN WAITING 20 MINUTES FOR A COKE AND A DIET COKE...just swearing, yelling, and was just in a rage over this.  I tried to apologize, nothing seemed to work, I couldn't calm this guy down.  He slams the money down in my hands, i give him his cokes and throw his change at him running out crying.  That was the last day I did fast food after working at it for about five years.

Working for the public really stinks, and its no wonder people at McDonalds are so darn rude, I really don't blame them!

Look who is rude here? You or People?
//
It is Aranesp...sorry for the rude people. nm
nm
rude city people
I hear you....twice in the past couple of months I have caught two different SUVs driving through the brush our our very well posted private property.  Apparently, they see our property as an off road play land.  It certainly is frustrating.  I hope they put some scratches in their pretty city SUVs.  Wishing for a fence and electric gate or a moat and alligators.
That's very rude and offensive to many people (nm)
nm
Bad. Good pay, but bad accounts and rude people
stay away IMO
You will run across some pretty rude people around here as you've seen...(sm)
but not everyone is like the one above.  Welcome.  I don't have any of my own clients, but the service I work for recently lost the account I worked on pretty much out of the blue.  It's a real shock to have the work yanked from you like that, and I agree it was pretty cowardly for the wife not to just come out and admit when you directly asked.  I don't know what to tell you but just wanted you to know that you can expect some real nastiness around here at times, but don't let it keep you away.
Yes people can be rude here, including yourself. You just called
x
Wow, I'm glad I'm not a newbie. You people are rude to newbies.
nm
People will be rude, and impose themselves, as long as you allow it. Once you put your foot down, a
It's just that it's too easy to impose on you. You have to stop them, kindly but firmly. I'm working now, and I cannot do that for you. They learn, they learn.
You're rude. That being said... Some people just work alone for a couple doctors and don't
s
No, out east ... lots of rude people running the show, it seems ... sigh. nm

I agree, nasty and rude people lately, where are the grownups is correct in a former post.
I agree with all you said. I come here sometimes just to share thoughts, experiences, and to really help others as it helps me to help. There are some unnecessary, hurtful responses on here. The admin cannot police all and she should not be expected to. Have a little consideration, people, we are all in the same lifeboat here. As for leaving the profession, think about it. I have been tempted many times, have tried working in other fields but totally boring after hearing all that I've heard as an MT. I can't read a non-fiction book as it all seems so shallow and ridiculous to me. For too many years I have shared the lives of people on a real, non-fictional basis through my work. It is an interesting and informative profession and even doctors are amazed at how much information I have  in this little brain of mine. I have on occasion saved many people in my family (including myself) from unnecessary harm or eary intervention. Please think about it before you leave us. As for this board, I llove it except for the nasty posts, but that's life. As we all know, it takes all kinds. Most people here belong in the helping profession. If they're in it for the money, it shows. Character shows up in the positive posts on here. We are, after all, supposed to be in the helping profession, not the kill or be-killed attitude some have. I would say most of us come in here for  knowledge, friendship and just plain sharing. If we have a little laugh once in awhile, it helps, but not when it turns into a cat fight. IMHO, of course!
I am the OP and that was just a tad uncalled for.
for those of us who have not participated in this in prior years. I was unclear as to whether you needed to enter each day or only at the beginning of the week since it says one entry per person, and the fact that it says you must enter "each giveaway" was vague, as well, considering you could mean "giveaway" as the MT Week Giveaway as a whole, each daily giveaway, or each individual giveaway for each item that each company donated.

I am not a rocket scientist, it's true. You got me there. However, I am an MTSO who has paid money to your site to access resume bank, etc. and a little common courtesy would be nice. I quit coming to this site for a long time due to the total anonymity and the rudeness and bashing that goes along with that and only recently started coming around again. I thought since the moderators seem to be more active and seemed to be trying to contain some of the more negative remarks, things might be different. I would expect the administrators to lead by example.

I couldn't care less what anyone thinks of me, to be honest, but it might behoove you to think about who might be on the receiving end of your barbs. I certainly am not motivated to spend my valuable time at a site where the administrators feel it is appropriate to insult someone's intelligence for merely asking a SINGLE question. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that perhaps you've been asked the same question repeatedly, but if that is the case, maybe you need to reevaluate the wording and make it a little more clear. For example, simply stating "YOU MUST ENTER EACH DAY" would be surefire way to get that point across.

I thought this was a professional website for professional MTs, run by professional MTs, and I think that comment was highly unprofessional. Thanks. You really made MY MT week special.
THIS IS TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR!
How rude!
THIS IS RACIST AND UNCALLED FOR

This has absolutely nothing to do with "the race card." Why insult a whole race when we're talking about natural disasters?  This is narrow minded and unwelcome.  Keep your racial comments private please...

I appologize. It was uncalled for.
xx
Your response is uncalled for.
This is something that happened to me and I had to purchase the software again. Microsoft told me that the software one purchases off the trial version installed on the computer is a one-time only deal and can't ever be reinstalled. This is a board to ask questions and share experiences, not a board to name-call.
The next reply is totally UNCALLED FOR.

IN THEIR NATURE ?!?!?!!?!
It's attitudes like that that make them think they have a right to cheat, after all, Boys will be boys............ PLEASE
the nature of what you are looking for
? is it only what we wished we knew as a beginning MT, or every other aspect of the business too?
I know men cheat, its in their nature. I'm just saying
They don't commit either, and when we get cheated on or rejected it hurts and its just difficult.  I wish they weren't like that, always wanting to go after something younger, better or sexier, but yes thats the way it goes.  Its awful.  Women get the short end of the stick in just about everything.  I'm not saying there are no good men out there, but for the most part, I just cannot ever trust one or give up my life for one ever again.  Its sad.  Guys can find committment and love easily but we women have to claw, grip and lose our minds to find it and hold on to it.
Yes, I think it's human nature

NM

I don't understand it, but it's nature.
Like any other pet, the owner should read up on them and educate him/herself about this particular kind of animal before getting one. If you separate them at the right time, they're fine. You just have to know how to take care of them.

I still think they're pretty. I love their colors and they're comical too - they just "vant to be alone".

LOL
Human nature

People generally don't talk about how happy they are on a regular basis. They tend to want to talk to others when something is bothering them, and focus more on the negative. So I guess it makes sense that you don't see a lot of posts that say "Ladeedah, how I love my job and what a stupendous day it is in the transcription world today!" The job is just a means to a happier life, not the definition of a happy life.

Personally, I feel honored that I am in this profession.  Not because of the money or the skill and intelligence that it requires, but primarily because it allows me to be home with my daughter instead of shipping her off to daycare every day for some stranger to screw up. That is why I will deal with the lack of raises, crappy dictators, periodic lack of work, mgmt that is too overworked to care, etc. To be with my baby all the time and still bring in a paycheck, however meager it may be.

Given the extreme nature of your anxiety
plus your other medications, I wouldn't mess with it. Just because it's "natural" doesn't mean there aren't any side effects. The warnings on RxMed say not to take with MAO, SSRI, tricyclic antidepressants or dopamine agonists.

For starters, St. John's wort causes skin photosensitivity, mucus membrane inflammation, and interferes with birth control pills. I don't know if that's a concern for you or not. Kava kava can cause skin reactions, pupillary dilatation, lack of skeletal muscle coordination, and may exacerbate depression.

There are some European studies out there indicating that St. John's wort is effective with mild side effects. Still, I'd avoid taking herbs period with your existing symptoms and medications.
oh you guys are so far out of touch with nature...

you think the whole world is Disneyized. You think the male buck stands over the baby deer and protects it, on his wife's behalf. You think Simba's daddy looks for him when lost. Nature is nasty and completely insensitive to feelings. The law is survival of the fittest. Even daddy seals come in and slaughter babies when they find out a rival fathered them. But go on...dream on your pretty little dreams. I notice the only babies ever really championed for are the cute fuzzy ones...go cuddle a rattlesnake, why doncha!

oh and ps I was not original poster who put this controversy on the board, now was I?

Because of my competitive nature, I would use it as incentive to
produce more and make more money.

I always like to know where I fall compared to other MTs - am I in the middle of the pack, on the bottom or on top. If I am not on top, than I would do my best to get there. That is just my nature. I strive to be the best that I can be, although sometimes we all fall short. No biggy!! Just do your best and produce what you physically can, and that will have to be enough for that particular day.

Just use the daily information as an incentive for yourself!

Good luck to you.
missed point nature
North, south, east and west do not change, correct. It was funny as she said "depends on which way you are coming from." Here in our berg, streets try to be north and south, east and westbound, as that was an east and westbound street they were on. Just killed me, sorry I was entertained.
cherrypicking
what company are you speaking of? kc1
Cherrypicking
You are correct about Cherrypicking. It should not be occurring. If you believe that there is a problem with Cherrypicking, you should contact your technical support person and tell them to change the settings for the "Q" button. If they don't fix the problem, you should be sure to contact eScription. They have a method to stop Cherrypicking.

Good luck!
cherrypicking
That is horrible advice. We don't all do it and it is the fastest way to lose respect of your employer and your fellow workers. You have to take the good with the bad and every good, seasoned Transcriptionist knows that.
cherrypicking
I do not think that cherrypickers can get away with this for a long time, because every report has a trail to see what happened with it.
cherrypicking
I need to vent. I work for a really nice company, have been with them for several years, and really like my work. Lately a couple of new people were hired, and it is obvious they are cherrypicking. Tough dictators get refused/sent back to pool. On our platform, we can tell when a job is sent back. If you are one of those people, why do you think you have the right to pick and choose your work and leave the crap for everyone else. it is only fair to take the jobs as they come. We will all get some good, some bad. Would you like the shoe on the other foot - you get stuck with all the crappy dictators? I am asking here, please do the work as it is assigned. Play fair, will ya? I have seen people post on this subject before but had never experienced it. Now I know why prior posters were so PO'ed about it. It kills the line count for the day, every day, while the new kid on the block is raking it in. Whoever you are, I hope the boss confronts you and assigns you all the junk for a while or fires your butt so those of us who have worked there for years can continue with the jobs we have loved for so long. You are ruining it for everyone else. Okay, vented. back to work. wonder what is in the pool now.
Snakes do a lot of good in nature, most are harmless.
aa
Use mother nature's WOOD HEAT !!
and maybe get a down comforter for the back bedroom...
"It's all about me" - nature of the beast - literally
x
I used to let mine out too and thought nature was great -
Until he went missing and animal control brought him to me in a bag the next day! Who knows how long he lay in the road after he was hit by that car. It just breaks my heart thinking about it. My cats stay inside now and are very happy with their cat trees and toys.
Hope U are just baiting us and your nature isnt
x
cherrypicking hurts EVERYONE sm
you are supposed to be part of a team! Do you even know or care what that means?  As the other poster stated, SHAME ON YOU!
Cherrypicking at end of shift
What about when you just have a little bit of time left on your shift and you want to shuffle through and pick up some short jobs instead of the 25-minute psych report or the long consult that will put you way over your shift?
Another fine cherrypicking day.
Man, would I love to go on all day about this company and the cherrypickers here.  This is totally 100% unbelievable that they let people do this every single day.
No cherrypicking allowed here, but....

I know some reports do get shot back into the pool now and then.  Luckily for me, they're nearly always LONG reports by my favorite dictators (ESLs are my specialty), so I don't complain at all.   However, the rule here, which is hard to enforce, is that any skipped jobs or cherrypicking is grounds for being severely chastised for the first offense and immediate termination for the second.

IMO, why not just type it and be done with it????   Doing that takes less time than anything else, and time is $.

I agree that it's cherrypicking. sm

I don't mean this to be harsh, but if you're going to be a Transcriptionist for a company instead of having your own accounts, you need to be willing to do ALL of the dictators. Why would it be fair for you to pass over the difficult authors, take just the easy ones, and leave the hard work for the others? What makes you think anyone else wants to do them either?

Question about cherrypicking...

I'm on a new account that uses the Lanier. I really think there has been some major cherrypicking going on the past 2 days, but I have no clue how. I'd like to ask my boss about this, but am afraid to stir the pot as I'm so new. However, this is very, very frustrating. I thought I'd start out and see if anyone knows if people can cherrypick such a system. If not, it is all in my head then.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Cherrypicking by proxy...sm
All good and well in a hospital setting: Everyone knows what work comes out, when it comes out, who has done what, etc. What about home MTs?  I know for a fact that my account (a rather large one encompassing 2 or 3 hospitals and seldom getting the same dictator the same week) has predominantly good dictators for the Basic 4 and at the beginning (about 2 years ago since I started) made a pretty good line count.  Now it seems my shift (late evening) has virtually 99-100% ESL dictators.  Now some of these were just dictated, some were dictated 12 hours prior....but whoever gets to assign them assigns a high priority number rating so we can't skip over them.  I don't mind doing my share of bad dictators as long as everyone does theirs, and if even ONE MT gets to reject a particular job or "cherry pick", EVERYONE should be able to do it.  But I'm not going to be singled out to get all the crap dictation at the whim of the work router when I know this is only a small percentage of the work available on that account. I wonder who gets the good stuff?
