In desperate need of some help
I've recently started a new job typing from home, however i have been told that i need a file converter that can convert DVF files to DSS or WAV. I was told to downlaod Switch however i couldn;t get it to work, i must be doing something wrong. Can anyone please suggest an alternative file converter.

No way, no how unless desperate
I can think of no really good reason to have to work more than 1 full time job unless a person had horrible debt they were trying to get out of or medical bills. I've done transcription 32 years full time and have no desire whatsoever to give more than the required 40 hours per week to my employer. And I have no hubby or kids, by the way. I'm incredibly frugal instead and will live out the rest of my life that way. I do sympathize with folks with serious bills but sure don't believe in playing around with credit cards for stuff nobody really needs.

Is there any website out there that has radiology terminology like all the other medical dictionaries out there? I know Stedmans has a great radiology book, but was wondering if anyone knows of a good comprehensive site for radiology terminology. I have checked a few but when I put in contrast items, it always comes up blank. Any help appreciated. Thank you!

I think 12 cpl is reasonable...plus they're desperate, that helps...sm
try to get the work into a digital format though. Don't do the tape running around thing. It will kill your profit. Look at Bytescribe's web site and see about using an Olympus recorder and transferring files via Bytescribe. Many advantages including tracking files, duplicate file posting (files never get lost!), flagging to indicate status of files, digital files have superior audio quality, STAT capability, on and on and on

I just starting coming on this site as a job seeker and recently began to read the main board. Up until now was pleased with the fact that I had not read one hateful posting, all of that has changed after today. I don't recall anyone ever telling the "majority" that they had to celebrate anything other than what they've celebrated all of these sixteen centuries.
If the finger of blame is to be pointed anywhere, it should be pointed at a society that feels guilty, whether that guilt is deserved or not, for its treatment of other races, cultures, lifestyles, etc., in the past and feels the need to make up for it by being politically correct about "everything," not just Christmas. Those of you who are bashing others for their cultural/religious beliefs will be the very same ones who believe they have the right to stand at Heaven's Gate when the time comes.
It isn't necessary to spread hatred and ill will every where, why not leave it in your heart and let it fester there and continue corrupting your soul and not those around you.
As for me, I will not visit the main board again, and will undoubtedly have my thoughts on this subject bashed to death with hateful banter. Please feel free to do so, that is your right.

our present leader, knowing that he holds strong with off shoring?! He wants to *democrasize* the whole world. He thinks sending our jobs overseas is going to make other countries stronger, but it is only weakening us! That was a major issue with me during the elections and why I did not vote for him...among other reasons.

can you normally type in a 6 hour day? Not your highest, your average please. I know there will be specifics, but base it on your average day, average dictator, average workload. I am very curious to see what everyone else can do. TIA

Just wondering if anyone has a personal experience using a TENS unit they could share. How long do you use yours for, if you find relief that you forgot you could have, etc. As a chronic low back pain sufferer, I’m looking forward to getting mine on Tuesday!

I know how you feel. Working at home can be distracting, just having other things on our minds (sm)
like dirty dishes in the sink, piling up laundry, a bed right across the hall to take a nap in. What works for me is tune everything out including internet distractions and e-mails, phone calls. No more than a 10 minute break every couple of hours, 30 minutes lunch time and just hit those keys. The end result can be pretty rewarding.
I love to see people exercise their minds (and their rights)...will check it out...

After all, if no one would have stood up years ago, we would still be called the 'typing pool' and making probably $7/hour, AND answering phones, filing, etc.
AAMT did have a huge role in that happening, but I have not seen them do anything for the American MT in a very long time.
According to the Advance Health mag (which is turning into a 'rag' in my opinion), their latest article is how MTs with disabilities are now being trained in INDIA...and elsewhere overseas, and just how wonderful and joyous that all is - !?#@$#@

I don't know about "natural" approaches for the house. I have always used flea bombs in the past before the miracle of Advantage and Frontline changed my life. Have not had a flea problem at all since I began using those products about 10 years ago, dose all the dogs religiously once a month with the Frontline Plus except in Dec.-Feb. to save a few bucks and because the ground is generally frozen by then and no fleas are scurring about. -- Hope you get flea free soon.

Vonage about 6 months now and I love it. The only mistake I made was trying to keep my original phone # - I wouldn't recommend that. You have a temp # for a while, and the other provider can fight for the old #, etc. Go to vonage. com. They have new features all the time! There is even a new soft phone that is a phone on your screen. You don't need a real phone when working - just headset. It has 800 #s you can have very inexpensively - great voice mail. You get emails when you have new messages, etc. I only wish I had used them a year ago! Nothing but good things to say, and I complain about everything!

It is not your fault they approached you. I think it would be a different storey if you were the one searching for the job to take away from a company. They obviously want to get rid of the company and if you didn't take the job they would probably ask someone else. You should enjoy the better position and not feel guilty!!

Original poster - I completely agree with this answer, especially the part about finding yourself and using all that you have learned intellectually and connecting that to something that you will also enjoy with your heart!! You have so many wonderful options for your future - much more than many of us.

I think sometimes people think you are trying to "replace" the dog that died. It's not replace at all, it just helps fill the void. Just like you can never replace a person, you can't replace a pet. They each have their own special place in your heart. Adjustment period - I KNOW!! But it works out. Good luck with your new baby.

Being an MT is great. Though like with
any job there are going to be issues. If you work in an office, you have to put up with all the crap that goes with it. If you work at home, you don't have to read these boards. There are a lot of negative people in the world, mostly on here! You will have bad days but overall the good will outweigh the bad. I have been an MT for 15 years, 11 of which I have been at home. I have tried going back to an office setting, several times, but have never been happy. I come back home to work and things are fine for a while until the job starts to suck but I get over it. I have children but they go to preschool/school. They do not stay home with me unless they are sick, have a snow day or a short school break. During the summer, they attend camps and preschool. This is not a job to get into to stay home with children. It is a career as an MT, not a daycare provider.
I'd say go for it. You will get out of it what you put into it, like everything else in life! Good luck to you.

husband. We have been married for 23 years. I know he doesn't cheat because he is home every day right after work, calls if he is going to be late, never goes to bars and works his butt off for our family. I'm not saying there haven't been issues but the good in him far outweighs the bad!

Sounds like the hospital I worked for in Florida. We made 18.00 an hour plus 8 cents per line over so many per day which gave us a bonus of around 1500.00 monthly. Those were the days!
Great TL
I must say, my TL is a gem. Of course, everyone else in management bites the big one but my TL is fair and honest. She has to walk a thin line between keeping her team members happy and letting management think she is totally one of them, but she manages to pull it off.
