No, that wasn't the case. I watched the interviews on the news.

Posted By: possible, but not the case on 2005-10-28
In Reply to: There is also the possibility that someone was standing in line for an elderly person, again - TM

The very next day after Wilma, there were people standing in line complaining about no help and what were they going to do. One healthy, 20ish woman in particular had her kids with her standing in line. She was upset because she didn't even have water for formula. Now, I do not have a problem helping children out. I would give kids everything I had, but the mother should have had enough brains to fill water jugs and take care of her kids. Those kids are depending on her to do the right thing, and she didn't do it. Her manicure with fake nails certainly was nice, though. Talk about messed up priorities. There were healthy men there complaining about having no water or food for themselves, too.

Haven't watched the news all day
Boy, that family has been through so much.  Sometimes you think you are getting more than you can endure, don't you?
I once watched a retired FBI profiler who studied the case SM
and found evidence of a break-in from the basement window. He took pictures, explained his theory, showed how somewhat could have broken in, hid under a bed. He theorized that the intent was not to kill her, but to rape her. Probably someone who was the house that night. I forgot the profiler's name, but it was an interesting show. Very sad, sad case.
Yes, after 9/11 I keep cable news on very low. Just in case
a
Yep, small TV on cable news, VERY low. Just in case the worlds ends,

interviews sm
One never knows what to expect, it may be wonderful and may be a dud. I was given one of those online typing tests which are very inaccurate, showd at 55 vs. my usual 100 wpm, did this at home and this was a very inept site and way of testing. I was also to sit at a lousy chair from the dark ages at a tiny little space, very OSHA inappropriate. They were obviously jealous of my experience and afraid of their job in the dept. From the way I was treated, I refused the job before I even knew if I got it. Don't want to seem negative, but look at the whole situation, ask about your setup, etc. Another job said I would receive a week of orientation in which the supervisor was so intimidated that she showed me absolutely nothing!  I quit. They're out there and they hate us as we are fast, knowledgeable and a threat to them. Hope you have a more positive experience than I, it's a cruel world out there. Oh yes, Human Resources asked me what my ideal job would be if I had one. Ridiculous? Yes. But some are good, so be selective.
Venting on job interviews - sm

I'm so disgusted and discouraged.  I've had three interviews in the last week, about three more in the last month, and ALL of the recruiters I spoke with had absolutely NO clue.  After listening to their canned speech about their company, they invite my questions.  My main concerns are the platform, how a line is defined (with or without spaces), headers and footers included, progam compatible with Expander that I have (IT or Shorthand), do they take out MY state taxes, (some don't), how is PTO paid, and a few more, but for each interview, but the time I got to this point in my list of questions, I'm totally disgusted because the recruiters cannot or won't answer my questions.(They are good about skirting the major points of things).  They have to contact someone else, who is not available at this time, etc...and will get back to me - yea, right.  WHAT is wrong with these people?  Can't they answer simple questions?  I don't feel that my list of questions is that outrageous, do you?  Am I out of line for even asking these things?   I've been burned too many times to agree to a job without asking these, and quite a few more questions, but can't get past first base with these recruiters.  Are they so far removed from the actual transcription aspect of their companies that they can't find these things out beforehand and be ready for an appplicant's basic questions?  The recruiter makes the first impression for a company, and if they are so far out in left field, what is the rest of the company like?   ANYONE else have this experience?

I saw a couple interviews
but Barbara and the producers told Star to make her exit "her way" and when she did, they screamed foul. The producers LIED to Star, that they knew nothing about the 'rumors' (which they established) etc etc. I used to respect Barbara Walters, but Star outclasses her by far.
I've been on a number of job interviews in the last 10-15 years

I have to admit that not everyone I've interviewed with knows what "CMT" stands for, but when I've explained it (the continuing education part is the point I stress), it is usually received well by the interviewer.  Employers want to know that you care enough to make sure you stay educated enough in your field.

I'm not knocking anyone who chooses NOT to become certified, and I've certainly seen my share of people who are certified who are crappy MTs.  But, I've seen a lot of crappy doctors, too, and they still have their certification in their area of specialty.

To me, a CMT just means that you care enough to want to align yourself with a professional organization, stay updated in the field by continuing education, etc.  Does it guarantee someone that you are an awesome MT or employee?  Certainly not, and there are plenty of non-CMT MTs who keep themselves educated and up to date in the field, but they can't prove it.  When you are a CMT, you have to get the continuing education credits in order to keep your CMT, and you have proof to a prospective employer that you've done that education.  That's why it is important to me.

I wouldn't use lower case. I'd use upper case. Don't worry about it. nm

Gossip. Saw both interviews. Grossly misdone by the media to imply US hatred. Johnny Depp lives has
dual citizenship in France and US as his wife is French. He does NOT hate USA. He vehemently denied this. He did "own" that he said the USA sometimes seemed like an aggressive puppy, jumping on other countries to make them do something the USA wanted. Had to do with the whole French thing during the war.  That's ALL he said, and he later said he is not politically savvy and should have kept his mouth shut.  He was sad for all the American soldiers being killed.
just checked i-mail. no news. how did you get your news?
love,

frank
News flash..Don't know where you get your news, but the economy is doing very well.
s
My theory is no news is good news. (sm)
If there is really a problem with your transcription, then I would not worry about it. They will get to you if you screw up.

As far as policies and procedures, look in your manual. I am sure they gave you info for all of that stuff. JMO.
I watched also
Bruce Jenner seemed very stiff and almost afraid.  I think the team that did a lot of the lifts should not have gotten better scores.  The older judge is too hard on them since the celebs have never skated before.  I may watch next week just out of curiosity to see who is going bye-bye.
Believe it or not...I just watched
for the very first time.  I thought it was a very good movie.  Anyone else enjoy it like I did?  Thought Russell Crowe did an excellent job.
I have always watched ...
I've always noted what I can make an hour every where I've worked, so it seems strange that no matter what type of reports I have, I'm making around the same an hour... not much fluctation and is less than I can make at another company... (I work 2 different companies)...but I don't know how they could do it...
I watched CNN yesterday almost all day, just

willing those miners to walk out, but knowing that wasn't likely to happen based on the fact that there was no apparent debris that could be blocking them in.  I celebrated with the families when word was circulated that 12 were alive.  I called my DH at work and cried like a baby.    I was numb after the news came that only 1 survived.   I kept hearing stories about how the miners were coming to meet their families at the church, a Red Cross person said the miners were fighting about going to the hospital, that they wanted to see their families, and after the ambulance went out I waited and waited wanting desperately to see those men walk out.

I've Never Watched AI, Believe It or Not!!
Thanks so much for posting the link. He's got a fantastic voice. Even though I'm more than old enough to be his mother, that gray hair is SO sexy.
My sister watched our dog
I brought her home something from the place we visited.
I have good news and bad news 4U...
The good news is on Saturday, July 1 many of your least favorite residents will be "graduating." The bad news is that on the same day you'll be getting a virtual box of candy with brand new residents who have no clue how to dictate! RU excited?? ARGHHHH!!!!
I watched the prosecutor video
I watched the video with the interview with the Aruban prosecutor, which was on MSNBC videos in the internet..check it out, maybe it is still there.  She said the father was arrested for interfering with an investigation by talking to the boys and telling them no body, no crime.
I watched a special on TV last night
about outsourcing to India and how much they are gaining financially from this situation.  It showed some of the girls out shopping in nice malls buying three and four pairs of shoes at a time.  Wish I could just buy one pair!!  Bring our work back home!!!
I just watched the new episode. I hope
they can help Jeff out. Tempestt looks very pretty, and she was smart to take a break and go to school. Harvey rocks :)
Have you watched "How I Met Your Mother"?
It's on Monday's, I think. All my days run together, forgive me. It's not reality, but it's really refreshing. Good writing. I enjoy it.
Has anybody watched the TV show "Earl?"

ZZZzzzzz

nice to see some folks watched...sm
waiting to see how this progresses - hope it lasts as a reality show - seems like there is less *bickering* that with Dancing with the Stars, though I like that show too but NOT the judges there....*grin*
Haven't watched yet tonight (sm)
I taped it so I will watch it another time. I like Chris although he hasn't been as good the last couple of weeks. I love, love, love Taylor although he also has not really been his usual self the last few weeks. I also liked Mandisa. Paris and Katherine are great too. Oh, and Elliot. I DO NOT care for Kellie or Bucky, most especially Kellie. I think she is trying to play the cute down-on-the-farm girl like Carrie Underwood and, honey, she needs to stop already. Please, please let her be gone next. I'll settle for Ace being gone too though.
I haven't watched until tonight.
I would say that Kat has a really small range and tries to hit notes she just can't hit. The first and third song were just not good for her.  Taylor aced two of the three. Levon is a good song and I think would have been good for him, but he seemed kind of nervous. All in all, he is the winner.  Even Simon said so.  He's adorable.
My husband and I watched The Notebook (sm)

We both teared up.  He told me that he loved me like that, and that I was his Allie.  My birthday was shortly thereafter and on my envelope he wrote "To My Allie."  What a guy I'm married to.  After 23 years of marriage, our love is still growing strong!

My daughter and I watched and cried, too. Seems so
unfair, but then I believe God needed him. For a barb to get him in between the ribs and directly into his heart, God said, "It is time."
LOL. You're right. It's been a while since I watched SNL. Thanks for the reminder.
.
I watched this video and sent it to my US Senator and also

.

I watched the game and have been a football fan for 40+ years.
excuse-making sore loser like you are.

Again, grow up.
Who watched American Idol tonight???
Cannot even believe that Bucky went home before Ace, Katherine, or Paris.  Ace cannot sing at all!  Bucky was not great, but it was definitely not his time to go!
I watched it both times and couldn't believe it either time.
I really doubt they let them do actual work. It was probably practice stuff and just made them do X number of minutes of dictation or x number of hours and they just had to muddle through and type whatever they thought it was. I saw a few lines of what the husband typed and it made no sense from what I saw, so I think they just had to put in the time and guess, just to get a feel for what she does.
Oh give me a break. If had watched the show..sm
you would have known WHY they asked her to leave. She was arrogant, pushy, demanding, and interruptive to put it mildly. The show is WAY better off without her and her attitude of "better than thou."
has anybody been watching Arrested Development? I watched four shows in a row on FOX and it is
I don't know when it is on regularly but it's a great show and they ran four shows back to back and it was laugh out loud funny.
Yeah, I've heard of her but never watched or listened to her.
I just wish I could get someone else on board, too.
Ever watched Jay Leno's segment "Jaywalking?" People don't know a lot
x
Oh, me too!!! When I got my first microwave (very expensive) we all watched the bacon cooking.
nm
I'm in the same boat.. Sat on the idol website and watched reruns of
s
Oops, meant haven't watched it yet. Will watch tonight.

Upper case is lower, lower case is upper. Using InstaText. Anyone know how to fix this?

Aargh.  It happened all day yesterday.  When I brought in text that was all caps

IMPRESSION:

and had lower case on keyboard (as always do), it reverses keyboard commands.  This is driving me c-r-a-z-y.

Won't be of much help to your case..
back in the middle 70s.. then got certification in 1987 by AAMT. Been at this for 30 years. Still going strong.. working 2 full time jobs.
In my case, it was because...sm
we live in such a rural area. I call it in the country. A subdivision was built nearby and I know of a couple of people on my road that were requesting DSL too. They put it in on my road shortly after the subdivision was built last year.
Well, in my case....
I work for a local hospital, deal with my boss and QA manager all the time, go in for meetings, and work a set full-time shift just exactly as if I were in-house.  No "maverick" status for me.  I have to play by the rules.  The  only difference is  that my butt  is in the chair at home, as opposed to the office. And I have worked inhouse numerous time, so I know how to do that and had no problem.
what would you do in this case?
I am a Transcriptionist with about 20 years experience who has a job which I do not like anymore, I used to liike the national that I work for but things have changed so much in the last six months that I almost cannot get up and get started and I even work second shift!  I am thinking about changing jobs but need to move the first part of December so will need time off and have a bunch of company coming at Christmas so have taken time off.  Do you guys think there are any employers out there who would hire someone to start, knowing that they are going to be needing time off in a month?   I need to find an employee position because I need health insurance.  I am a good worker and very seldom take any time off, this just happens to be a time when I need to.
In that case,
maybe they are afraid he will go to the EEOC - some of that stuff may be illegal age discrimination.
well, in that case, thanks!
Hehe. I've seen that (OP) before and never knew what it meant. But since I was the person who started this post I was too curious not to ask. Thanks for the info--learn something knew everyday! Happy memories to you!!!
looking for a case, are ye?.......nm

In my case...
it was in our court decree that ex would carry me for 6 months. I then had the option to COBRA on, think maybe I had the option of converting to a private policy also, can't remember for sure, but it was too expensive, so I got my own policy.  I don't think there was any way in our case, as his company was a smaller one, that they would have carried me as a "non-family" member on the company insurance.  I know that you can work it out in the agreement that the ex pays for the COBRA as part of the settlement, which mine wasn't willing to do.  I also thinks it depends on who the insurance is through.  I had a family member who was involved in a divorce where it was a federal agency health insurance plan, and they had only 1 month to remain on insurance as per that agency's policies.  I would be checking out what the exact options are, as you don't want to be blindsided with a lapse in insurance coverage. It's tough.  I was a stay-at-home mom for 15 years and just starting out as an MT not making much so kind of scary.  Good luck to you!
