OK! I'm glad you're back down here. Now don't go back up there and read those evil posts ag

Okay? But I have to leave you now, sadly. Thousands of noble dictating doctors are anxiously awaiting my help with their "dictations"....They're all loading up on chips, drinking lots of soda so they can burp, and then have to go to the bathroom...You know the routine! Off I go to earn some pennies!! But, truly, I am thankful that I have a job!

SO glad he is back, and safe.

Well, I'm just glad you changed it back.
I really can't understand why you would even question that to begin with, but I hope you understand now that putting that in a medical report is not a violation of anything. That is important to the history of the patient regardless of how ugly it is.

Obviously you've gotten plenty of feedback on this, but I just had to respond as well. I honestly just don't understand the rationale behind your questioning.
I am glad Hayseed is back.
But where is MT50???
Great! Glad you got it back. nm

Several posts back in 2005....
There are posts back in 2005 saying the same thing, no pay, unorganized, etc., even that they were taken to court and won but IC still didn't get paid. How do they stay in business if this is an ongoing thing??!!
i looked back through the posts
and it seems (if i recall correctly) that the pay cut is in ASR and its down to 60%, and at the same time, the volume of that type work has increased for most...
I'm so glad the stillborn is back! I was gonna
tell you that it might not be dead. I breed labradors, and often they just need really vigorous massaging and some human intervention! Also, if you look on line under kitten or puppy birthing sites, they have pictures of how to hold them in your hands. Your basically cup the kitten in your hands, with its little head down facing your finger tips. Then you basically stand up and hold the kitten head down and move your arms gently in a slow arc - you're just trying to get any fluids in its lungs flowing out of its mouth and getting things rolling! then you also put the kitty on your lap, and rub it vigorously all over with a little towel - not roughly, but not gently. With puppies, there is a rule to work for mininum of 30 minutes on a puppy that appears totally dead. And, believe it or not, it has worked for me on a few occasions. If a kitten or puppy looks basically normally formed, they are often not dead. Sadly, you would be able to identify a real stillborn right away, as they usually are deformed. Best of luck to you and kudos on saving the cat and kittens! Feel free to email me as well with any questions! The great part of cats is they are supposed to be great moms!! Labradors, on the other hand, can be a bit slow...Its a miracle to me that the breed has survived..they can be rather slow learners in the mom department!
Back up your posts with facts. Do not make vague comments.

ok I went back and re-read your post.

You have 2 toddlers who need daycare.

You have a teen (the childsupport)

You have $350 roomie but that + disappears with his costs of living there.  and I would be scared to count on it.

You have $9500 CC bill which that payment is probably about $200 a month.

At $42,000 that is not solid money - it is PT monies.

1.  Can the BF come up with his probable court-ordered child support of at least $1000 a month?

2.  Do you make car payments?

3.  How much is your student loan payment - and for how much longer?

4.  Do you have a degree in something?  Should you stay in transcription?

5.  Can you make the house payments if the BF finks out on the child support in 2 years if your 16 yo moves out and gets married and doesn't attend college?

6.  You will be at an expensive time in your life with the 1 and 2 YO/ who will then be 3 and 4 years old by then and still needing day care.

7.  A house is expensive upkeep.  And much energy.

I agree with the others.  Don't jump the gun here.  Take care of one thing at a time.  Get yourself into a situation where you won't be stressed if there comes a blip in the road - like you break your arm - or the car tears up - or you need an emergency root canal - one of the kids breaks a leg and you need to stay home.  There are a million things.

I would rent, move BF out, get childsupport started from him to see how that goes, re-look at the budget.

when the FT job comes around, and if you feel it is the one for you and they are good for the money, then look at the house.  You must live for you, not the 16 YO.

By then you will have your FT monies coming in, the child support coming in, you will know what your extra income is, you will have all your insurances in place and leave time built up, and a house may be good by then.  Also, the market is overvalued right now.  They are saying people buying right now may be buying things that won't be worth what they paid for them in a year.

Do you have any family you could stay with at all for 6 months.  You need some breathing space, girl.

Again, good luck.

First off, go back and read your post sm
and grade yourself. Start out by paying attention to what needs to be capitalized in your post. I see at least 11 areas. I see a word that should be plural instead of singular. One sentence is not a complete sentence. Maybe you need to go over these sections in your course again. They are generally in the very beginning.
I read back over the whole report ....sm
I don't play the dictation back though. I just read it to make sure no mistakes are in it.
MICHELLE!! GET BACK DOWN HERE! OH NO! YOU'VE READ THEM!
Its too late, but come back down here and laugh.  Don't read the ugly posts! They're not there - they are not really there - they don't exist, nor does the ugly poster!!
Is there a way to get a read receipt back from someone who has web mail?
I seem to only be able to see if someone has actually opened up a mail I have sent with a read receipt attached if they have certain types of e-mail accounts.  Is there a universal way I can do this from my Outlook Express?  Thank you for any input here!
You better go back and read the ORIGINAL post again -
What a self-righteous
be-** ch.
No, don't! This is fun! If you go away, I'll be too tempted to go back up and read those UGLY
posts. I just know that then I will be rather more than irritated! If I read them...I can tell they're horrible...But if we're here, talking about warm milk, and who is who, and why is why, then none of us will have to go back UP and read those...other posts!!
POLL - Are you read for your kids to go back to school? (sm)
Yes and no is the answer for me.  I love them home with me (11 and 13), but am ready to have the nice quiet house to myself for work.
We're back
Thanks for the suggestions - I never thought about camping "underwear" - it might sound funny to a noncamper, but it sounds like a great idea to me. I also like the idea of the wheelbarrow - trips to the camper get to be too many with everything.

We had a good weekend, family reunion type campout and have 3 more like it this summer. No long trips for us this year though. I do like those best.

Thanks for taking the time to post a reply. Back to work tomorrow morning, I guess.

With short arms, I need chair with shallow seat, good back support and high back. Want arm rests
:+
PS.. It apparently worked..I heard back and already submitted the paperwork back.

I'm not sure how many people they are hiring but you shouldn't stress too hard over it. Do the best you can.

You're right, it's not going to change back to what it was, but

we can still be competitive. Why would medical professionals take the chance of offshoring their patient's medical records if it can be done right here in the US?  Competition. That's what our goal needs to be.

What shocks and amazes me is how so many American workers are so willing to just lay down and get screwed instead of adapt by being competitive.  Adapting doesn't mean you have to accept offshoring at all.

For those of you who see my point, kudos to you.  For those of you who don't, grow a brain.

they're back east... thank you for the info nm

You're supposed to go back to school because of this government???
Maybe you should go back to school because you have higher expectations for yourself instead of blaming the government for the result of your own life choices.

Try assuming some responsibility and try making your life better on your own without blaming someone else.

Such a defeated attitude! Is that the government's fault too?

The government isn't Santa Claus. No one is responsible for our success but ourselves.

Grow up.
You're so right - I gave my notice - 5 more days & Im back home!!
I worked at home 9 years - back in an office for a year -cannot WAIT to be back home again. Office politics and BS, silly little rules that make no sense, traffic, hours less in each day because you spend that time commuting, people who care if you have a $200 purse or not...when you work at home you can still have friends, but you get to choose who you spend your time with!
I would not do them back to back - I have done 2 and 3 jobs at the same time -- all PT - sm
It is possible to do of course but you will burn out fast. Now I do one almost FT (about 30 hours a week) and the other is about 8-10 hours a week-- I still get beat doing that and that is w/o set hours. I find that the older I get the harder it is to work late and I am only 40! But a mid afternoon 30-minute cat nap helps a lot in order to keep going on busy days.
How do you set your computer back 1 day. I messed something up and need to go back 1 day.
NM
Just do a search and read the posts. There are plenty of posts about OSI on this board. nm.
nm.
Yes, you get back to work now. Go back to
some routine, and it does start to hurt less. I know  And remember, she is still there at work with you. Always will be. I figure at this point I have a whole herd of loved dogs under my desk each day - along with a couple horses, hamsters, parakeets, rabbits...If only I could see them - must be quite a happy zoo! But I know they are all there I sense their love.
Uh, no.... evil is evil. Who's version of the truth are you talking about?
yours, mine, hers, theirs, WHO????
You're hitting Alt+Ctrl+S. Hit Alt+Ctrl+C to get back.

I didn't read the other posts but just read this
My daughter got pregnant at 17, said she wanted an abortion but BF didn't. I have a wonderful 2-1/2 yo grand daughter that I don't think I could live without...and now, guess what? I don't. I have custody of her. She was dropped off on my door, I got court ordered temporary custody and final custody hearing in a month.

I'm single with no family support. I had just taken a new MT job one month before this happened and they have been wonderful during my adjusting to being a mom again and I hope I can resume a normal schedule by next week.

I'm passing no moral judgments or giving moral advice. The situation is what it is. My prayers are with everyone involved.
Um have you read any of your posts and the other posts? I think everyone DOES believe me..you

I have read your posts
I for one did read your posts.  Fine, you want to stay for the insurance.  Then get a second job that will pay your bills.  And taking your discussing (read whining) to a blog.
I have not read the other posts (below) but...
If you have health insurance with counselor coverage, I would book an appointment. Maybe ask around as to who is a good counselor. I understand how you feel as I am now seeing a psychologist about a family situation similar, but not the same, as yours.

It is so devastating when you cannot talk to anyone for fear of the word getting out. Maybe even pick a counselor in another town. You need to talk this over with someone that can maybe give you some ideas on how to deal with the situation without x-ing out your whole family.

I did just that (x-ed out family), and, believe me, the holidays are the hardest. Your mother will probably not see the light until she is clubbed over the head with it, so that is probably not an option. Have you had a out-and-out discussion with him? Don't listen to me, though. I urge you to see a counselor. Best of luck to you...and we are always here to talk to!
Thank You!!! I read all the posts and this is what I
I have been an MT for a very, very long time.  I have been on both ends (editor and MT).  I think MTs do have a lot they have to remember; however, I don't think it has to be as big a deal as some make it.  Back when I first started working from home, I worked for MQ.  I had 3 teaching hospitals and can't even remember how many docs now, so I had an office lined with post it notes.  As someone put above, writing it down makes them remember.  Me, personally, I have a binder with all my account specs printed and can pull a tab to get to each one. They are well lined out and I have taken time to make certain notes on the first page to make it easier.  I agree with another post about take whatever work you can get. Make yourself very valuable to the company and you will always have work.  I just get really upset to see the ones griping about jumping around and then you will also see posts later that they are out of work.  Maybe they should ask themselves why they are out of work.  Just on a further note, editing is easier on the hands, but I have to know the account specifics just as well as the MTs because if an error is sent through, it will come back on me too.
Just read the posts and you should see
what I along with others talk about. The facts are there to read. Higher up on this board there is a post with an MT stating she is leaving and giving her reasons. I tell what I have been through and then what others write here, is also for you to read. Transcription has really gone down over the past 20 years or so. Jobs are being outsourced to other countries where the salaries are a lot less and our salaries have taken a nose dive from what we used to make. If I had to get into this job now, would not want to chance an iffy situation. This is being realistic and if you think negative, please just read a lot of the posts on this board. It is your life and your wishes and you can do what you want, of course. I remember a previous inhouse supv telling me as late as 1991 I would not be transcribing by the time they got a computer able to recognize and put down in print a doctors dictation. Guess what, I work now in voice recognition at 4 cents a line! I have another acct so am paid more in that but could not live on that 4 cents if I had to.
Then you go on to read posts about

work for to "shove it", and now want to come back because the grass isn't any greener!!

It is all the same.  I have never in all my days heard of an employee being paid to commute.  That is absurd.  Unfortunately, if you are an employee you are at the mercy of your employer until you resign your duties.  Gone are the days of loyalty and pampering someone because they've been at it a long time.

If I read any of these posts first,
there is absolutely no way that I would have ever gotten into MTing because so much is different now and most of all the salary is just not there to live on. I, without the income of my hubby, could not afford the home where I live, the car that I drive, the status we have because I just do not make that kind of money anymore. The salary for me has fell over $40,000.00 since the early years. That is a chunk of change! I would definitely go, say into nursing, where the income is name your own price type deal. Much better than a person having to work say 7 days a week, hours and hours on those days just to have food on the table. Thank goodness, way past that point now but used to be there years ago.
still cannot read posts either.

Did you read the posts below...
There are laws already in the works to create more protection for all countries who offshore (not just the US).  I do not think it is as simplistic as you believe, that there are no rules, laws, or protection.  Offshored work is big business for those countries.  It is in their own interest to have protection laws, and it appears they already have many and are working on more.
read the other posts (sm)
This person knows what he wants. He wants to contract with an MTSO who will, in turn, assign some of their MTs to his account.

He isn't interested in contracting with individuals.

Just don't read my posts. :) nm
.......
I'm so glad to read your post. I was
surprised that most of the people who posted didn't even think it was a big deal.  To put Cubby, a tame bear, in a cage where he was helpless and shoot him with a bow and arrow and watch him die is horrible and pathetic.  Kinda like our Vice President being driven out to shoot little birds that were released from the back of a pickup truck so he could shoot them before they barely got off the ground.  What kind of people are these???  I know some people like to hunt, but this isn't hunting.  There is no sport to it.  Ugh.  It makes me absolutely sick!!
LOL. I noticed that too. Read all the MQ posts.
The poster who berates those complaining about MQ always uses caps to emphasize their point and without fail, someone comes along and backs their point up using those same emphasis caps. ROFLMAO

No, see? You didn't even read the posts. You came
into the middle of the conversation and started making things up. I'm not angry and bitter, so please stop spouting your nonsense. Read your own posts. As for the soda bottles, we were discussing washing them out to be reused to hold water when a hurricane comes. I'm done. I'm out of here. I'm not going to defend myself against someone who doesn't even understand the conversation and makes things up.
Please read previous posts..You will be
tortured to death with IMs. They do not listen to you. Bad Communication with your tech and supervisors on IM from India. Your check is penalized for errors and they will change paydays on your often so your check is shortened all the time. That and you will work yourself to death and notice in 12 hours you maybe have made an average of $8 an hour. There is no way that they pay for footers and headers or spaces as they claim. It never adds up. Dont do it.
Maybe you should slowly re-read the posts.
They seem pretty concerned to me. Um, even the moderator commented. That's kinda like having your mom step in when you're fighting with your little brother. IMO, you turned on us.
Please read posts below - or page 2....nm

You need to read the posts correctly, never said all
of MTs could not make it and you surely don’t have to read what I say, freedom of speech, etc. I will say again, these are jobs and if working, you do your job first period, end of statement. If you want to do household in between working then do not complain because you cannot get your line count, cannot see after your kids, oh woe me. I read these day after day about how a person only goes into this field in order to stay home and then we wonder why we are not perceived as being professional? Professional what???
From all the posts I have read on this site...

Some from the long-time MTs just seem mighty ornery....I'm just sayin' is all.
