Agree with 99% of what you said except for one thing. Pilots make less and less $ too. Lots of pilots in my family so I hear a lot about it. First big hit was after Reagan destroyed the air traffic controllers union, another huge hit after 911. United went bankrupt, dissolved all pensions/401Ks. The way I hear it, it's been about a 40% pay cut since 911.

Yes, this decline of the middle class really heated up after Reagan fired the controllers. If the pilots had stood by the controllers union, then maybe Reagan would not have been able to fire anyone. A very pivotal point in our history. Poor pilots did not realize what goes around comes around.

Yep. I have a couple docs that use laptops and some that prefer Palm Pilots, but they all point and
