This is my guess: The economy is in the tank, hospitals are seeing more and more unpaid bills and looking for ways to cut costs, and these VR companies are going around showing them how much they can save by switching to their system. Maybe before they didn't think it was worth the hassle but now they are under a lot of pressure to cut costs and these systems look good on glossy brochures.
