Shorthand and Medrite-XL

Does anyone know if Shorthand will work with MedRite-XL?

Thanks

How did you get Shorthand to work with Medrite?
nm
Medrite
I LOVED Medrite-- easy to use, could check back on reports that you typed if you needed to make corrections, and made LOTS of line on it.
Medrite
I use Medrite and have for years.  What do you  need to know exactly?  It takes a little getting used to but once you do, it's simple.  It's a little archaic compared to EXText for example but I guess I'm just so used to it that I don't mind it.

Are you using MedRite XL? When in TES you can view Masterview by clicking on the Transcribe tab on the tool bar near the top of the screen. Choose Masterview. Under "Search For" enter the patient's last name. Next is a drop down box for "Field"....chose to search by the patient's last name or by patient number. When you see the info you want, click on the DOS you want to view. And, yes, you can cut and paste....I do this quite often.

In the main screen the Masterview is at the bottom and you can do essentially the same things as above....check doctor's reports, patient's reports. You can also view all of the jobs you've done. Where I work we go by Transcription ID.

In the old Medrite...I believe you use F9 or F3 to view the repots. And, yes, I did cut and paste. I think I highlighted the area I wanted then right clicked on the top of the Medrite screen to bring up the cut and paste feature. It's been a long time since I used the old Medrite.
Sorry if this is confusing....trying to view eamils at lunch time.

Anyone familiar with the Medrite platform? I am a fairly new MT and a prospective employer uses Medrite.
When I used to use Medrite I loved it.
I'm not sure what that person does not like about it. It was extremely easy to use.
Isn't that the pre-MedRite program
That Medquist tried to change people to and it was so awful?? There are much better programs than that one! I do see jobs now and then that use MedRite. Much less old-fashioned maintenance, and a decent spellchecker.
Medrite questions -sm
I used this program once before a long time ago.  I will be starting soon using Medrite.  Refresh my memory please.  Is it MT friendly? How can I brush up on it while I am waiting to start with my new company? Or is that even possible?  thank you.
MEDRITE question
Can someone explain the master view function to me.  How can I bring up old dictations and can I cut and paste into shortcuts from there? TIA
MedRite-XL question
Hit a wrong button and now I have a split screen.  I can get a full screen by hitting view, normal.  Can anyone help me?  TIA
My experience with Medrite
Medrite is real easy to learn and to use. Where I work we can look at all old reports, not just the ones we transcribed. Entering the demographics is real easy especially if you have a patient list you can copy and paste from. My company also supplies templates, which are easy to pull up and insert. The built-in Expander is easy to use, and you can also use Auto Correct. I believe you can use other expander software with Medrite, but that depends on whether your company lets you or not. I believe Medrite is a great platform to work on, especially for a newbie, because you will learn it real fast and can spend your time concentrating on transcribing rather than having to remember how to use Medrite. At any time you can check your production, too. There is nothing complicated about Medrite that I know of. I really like it.
Medrite XL question

For those who use Medrite XL ... I have noticed that the work/break hours are often not accurate on the counter, so I am wondering if the line count is likely off then as well.

Does anyone out there have any information on this? - Thank you.

The Medrite system I used
had the best shortcut system built into it that I've ever used. Of course, it was also the first one I ever used, and you know how you tend to fall in love with one that you're used to.
Is that Medrite windows based or DOS? nm
nm
Transolutions has Medrite-they are hiring.
Lots of new openings.
CANCEL THAT-- It was MedRite that was not very good. SM
I worked on MedRite by Crescendo. Not Meditech. I don't have experience on Meditech. Sorry, I had the name wrong.
Medrite .... whats wrong with it?
A new account uses Medrite; was going to learn it possibly.  Please tell me what's wrong with it.  Thanks guys !
'Splain to me Lucy...what do you want to do to MedRite? sm
The other question well...too much information.
MedRite XL versus Bayscribe
Has anybody used both platforms? I have two job offers and I have the impression that I will make more lines using Bayscribe. Also do either of these support Shorthand? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Don't care about Medrite, but loved your photo! LOL!!!!

SpeedType and Shorthand are the exact same program. Shorthand is lots cheaper and also has a trial.
.
{@KEY BkSp}-pack-per-year is for Shorthand. Using the semicolon works with both Shorthand and

;yo = -year-old

;py= -pack-year

etc...

Shorthand and SpeedType are exact same program. Shorthand will cost you lots less.
you can import your autocorrect into Shorthand.
I took shorthand too. But it sure comes in helpful for my expanders. I view words in shorthand for
i did use shorthand once in a job but i was so nervous the "boss" took pity and dictated the report on dictaphone.
If it is Shorthand, save the SPF file to a disk, then if you buy Shorthand yourself....
you can just drop the SPF file into it. That is not dishonest since you are the one who put the macros in. I am sure is it is another Expander there is a way to save the macro file and then drop it in the expander you buy on your own.
Shorthand ? sm
Is Shorthand compatible with and is it much different than the standard autocorrect in Word?
I use Shorthand with DQS

It is very compatible.  You can set it up so that you can see a hint window while you type.  I tried using the built in Expander in DQS, and you have to have a great memory, because there is no hint window or suggestion window, like Smartype.  I also know that Instant Text is compatible with DQS, also; but I prefer Shorthand.  I hear so many great things about Smartype and wish I could learn it, but it won't work with DQS; however, there is a way you can get around that.  You can use Smartype and transcribe in Word, set your font size to 14 and save your file in Rich Text Format, then copy and paste into the DQS platform.  Then select all and hit Ctrl 5 to get the spacing right.  It sounds like a lot of steps and you will also lose your place as far as leaving any QA markers, so I personally don't care for the hassle, but I know of some MTs that do it that way, so you can try it.

Hope this helps.

shorthand
cool, i'll look into that thanks

Shorthand should work with ChartScript, since ChartScript uses Microsoft Word, but you would want to disable ChartScript's built in expander.  If you are referring to ChartScript.net, Shorthand should work in that too.
shorthand
Wow! Thanks! I had asked that question a little while ago on the production board.

Where did you find a free program? Did it load right into Word for Windows?
Shorthand
The Hospital I came from uses Meditech with Shorthand-, works fine. There is something built into Meditech like a word Expander but everyones stuff mixes in together and was a nightmare- love shorthand.
Shorthand
I would be very interested.
shorthand
I use ShortHand with Meditech. Works great....
In Shorthand, there must be (sm)
a shortcut key or something that allows you to add on the fly?? The only thing I see is to actually open the ShortHand window then I can click the insert button on my keyboard or click on the little "add" icon. Is there a key combination for doing this while I am in the document - to just bring that "add" window up?
I use Shorthand. nm

Shorthand
Is there a way to copy text with bold headers into shorthand, bold headers and all? The text copies fine but I have to go back and use the special keys for adding the bold back in at every header because the bold from the finished text will not carry over. I've gone through the help section but maybe I'm not asking "how to" the right way. It just seems that my old version of SH carried everything over, but I can't remember. Anyhow, if anyone has the answer, would appreciate it.
Shorthand
No, you hit Ctrl K and B before the entry, type the entry how you want it, and then hit Ctrl K and B again to toggle the bolding off.  It will come up with a little window showing you the B is the next key typed or something to that effect, and you click 'OK' both times that window comes up.
Shorthand
If you need everything in CAPS use CAPS Lock. If you only want the first letter of the sentence just do as you would for a regular sentence by holding down the Shift key and type the first letter whatever it may be. It will bring up your expansion with the first letter only capitalized.
Need help w/Shorthand 9
I downloaded the 30-day trial of Shorthand.  I cannot figure out how to bold a word in MSWord.  Every time I try to input CTL+B into the expansion, the program puts the - {@KEY - or something like that.  I have read and tried everything I could find in the Help section with no luck.  Can someone type out what I need to input to get a word capitalized and bolded.  I would really, really appreciate the help.  I am thinking it must be something super easy that I am just not getting!  TIA
I really like Shorthand
I worked for MQ and liked the expansion program. With my new company I have Shorthand. I really like it. You can try it out for a 30-day period and see if you like it before you buy it.
Shorthand!

Is there a way you can import addresses into ShortHand all at once, instead of one by one?

Thanks in advance!

Shorthand
There is an AWESOME board you can join that will help also. It is productivity talk, and it is at http://www.productivitytalk.com/

It will not only help you with ShortHand but also with Instant Text, Smartype (sp?) and MS Word.
shorthand help
Does anyone know how to add to ShortHand the following:  PLa then subscript the #2 in font of 8 instead of 12.  It is annoying to keep going to font size and then to subscript and then back to font size and then back to no subscript.  I am looking for an easy fix, any help?

We can I go to buy Shorthand?

I have been trying to order ShortHand for over a week now and their web site is down. Are they out of business? Any info? Thanks!
PRD to ShortHand

I worked for 25+ years in WP for DOS and used PRD.  I loved it.  This year I changed to WORD and was able to use ShortHand from the first day.  The file conversion from my PRD to ShortHand was quick and easy.  One thing I really like is that the length of the short form is not limited, sometimes with PRD I wanted "just one more letter."

I have not learned how to write the neat macros I had in WP5.1 that would switch from document 1 to document 2, search and copy, and then paste.  I will do anything to keep from using the mouse.  Like I said before, it's all new to me this year, but I am learning.  One reason I held off the switch to WORD for so long was that I would not stop using my beloved PRD.

Anyway, as far as I can tell, in ShortHand there is NO LIMIT to the number of abbreviations you can have in a directory, and no limit to the number of directories you can have.  So you could have one dedicated to surgeries, and another for discharge summaries, and it's easy to switch them.

And after all these years, I found WORD was not really that technical or difficult to learn.  Whichever Expander you choose, I hope it works out for you like it did for me.

PC Shorthand

Would you mind telling me your experience (good or bad) with PC ShortHand for Windows?  I'm considering buying it but want to know some opinions from people who have actually used it. Thanks!

shorthand

Love it, couldn't make any money without it.....
