SPHERIS offshores
They told the hospital I was working in that they didn't but low and behold, they do. They joined up with Healthscribe, who makes no bones about the fact that they have a company in India. COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS THAT THEY HAVEN'T CALLED BACK.
Transcend has taken on new clients and Spheris offshores so they are not allowed to

Spheris offshores - they are not allowed to advertise on this site - sm
I hope that helps in your decision making.
Read the post again, it says Transcend is taking new clients. SPHERIS offshores therefore they are

Transcend does not offshore and they are sponsors of MTStars.

Spheris in India
Up until about a year ago Spheris denied outsourcing to India - now they can't hide it anymore and boast about taking work away from those who helped build the company, MTs right here in the good old USA. We aren't "cost effective."

Shameful
If you posted an ad to find someone who would kill you and eat you, you would get responses too (this has happened, by the way, and the advertiser was killed and gutted like a hog).  Just because you posted such an insulting ad and desperate people answered it does not make it right.  You get the MT-awarded Badge of Shame this week.
7 cpl is shameful

I just wish most people could afford to go out on strike even for a few days and let everything pile up. That would totally hold up entire hospital systems (not that I would want to jeopardize a patient's care), but what else can we do. They can't send everything to ASR, especially the crap that a lot of people are getting these days, and doing it for less money. Aren't you sick of this?

Seriously, what do you think 2 or 3 days of no shows of even up to 30% of employees would do to, for example, Medquist. Major backlog, clients complaining. Stretch it to 4 days, big problem.

Who could afford to take 2 to 4 days without pay? Who would be willing to strike?  Do you think it would get any result?

I agree my painful is shameful...
But as far as being full-time MTs in this area with benefits and being paid hourly this is "good". Yep, that's how badly this profession is going down the tubes.

The only place I can work other than this and make more money with benefits is the hospital and they expect even more production from you, with harder jobs that I am not experienced with.

I took the paycut becuase I get to work from home (they released me to work from after one year).

It's shameful if the new owner is foreign but

INDIA, INDIA, NEWBIE LOOKING FOR INDIAN-OWNED COMPANY-FORGET AMERICA COMPANIES HIRING NEWBIES!!!!
Our country sucks when it comes to teamwork.  My experience is in hospital transcription and 95% foreign dictators.  Most of my dictators are from India and surrounding countries.  Give up you all, India is already way ahead of us!

Whoah! I did not know OSi offshores-how do you know this? (sm)

I've only been there 9 months. One of the reasons I applied to OSi was that I heard they did NOT offshore.

I have enjoyed 'almost' every minute of working for them. I have only run out of work twice and then they switched me to another account so I could keep going.  In fact, lately,  I've put in extra time because the workload is so heavy.

I am not fresh out of school, either, been an MT for 11 years, but this is my first national. They pay on time and direct deposit. Bennies are decent. QA are nice to work with, and they all are willing to answer questions anytime. They don't bug you either. No whips are cracked over my head. If I have a problem with my service at home... which I had power failures twice (just my luck-never had any in 15 years), no problem. I made up the hours later.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with the posts against OSi. They've been good to me, but if they offshore, I'll be thinking differently. Maybe I'll suggest they offshore the ESL work to them.

I really want to know where you got your info on outsourcing. TIA.

The offshores should be charging more, too....
... even though lots of their work is cr@p.
company that offshores. sm
http://www.imedx.com/
I won't work for a company that offshores.

Do you care if your company offshores? ...
It really chaps my buns, and I will not work for any company that sends work out of the U.S.  How do you feel about it???
I always ask if the company offshores. I have turned down

multiple positions because the companies offshore.  I'm now in a dilemma as my company has started offshoring.   They are not taking work from me to offshore, but they could not find enough qualified MTs to keep TAT where it needed to be and we were having to work like dogs.  They knew they had to do something so they went offshore.  I'm still not sure what the difference is - if they have to proof 100% of the offshore work, why can't you proof 100% of U.S MTs and train them trained, even getting a newbie, someone who didn't have the attitude that this is they way I've always done it, etc.  I've seen the work that comes back from India and it is not client ready.

I have several years invested with this company.  They pay better than anything I have been able to find thus far, I'm comfortable with my accounts, the platform is easy, etc.   So what do I do now?   There are very few companies that don't offshore, either to India or another country, and they are currently training women in Trinidad, so more work will eventually follow.  If I do find a company that doesn't offshore, how long will it be before they do start offshoring.   I honestly never thought I would be in the position that I am.

don't work for a company that offshores
The only chance we have, since our president obviously doesn't care, is to NOT work for any company that offshores. Hang up your headphones and walk out.

Otherwise, all is lost. You may have a job today, but it will be gone tomorrow - just as soon as they can get those offshore jerks trained enough to spell "dokter."
But the problem is, as long as the offshores
sell themselves so cheaply, even those workers in the US who have not been displaced will still have trouble eking out a living on such a low wage.
Transcend does not send work offshores...sm
and continues to fight against offshoring.
Not true. I work for a company that offshores.
Good grief.

I have been told and read that Medware offshores. I think you can do better.
There are many American companies that do not offshore. Please steer clear of any offshoring companies at any cost.
I just saw another MT site advertising a service that offshores that boasts the company as

transcription companies in the US!  Of course, it doesn't surprise this long time MT considering the owner of the site highly promotes offshore transcription.  I am disgusted and have canceled their newsletter.

You are right ... and I cannot imagine that these are even remotely sanctioned by MTStars mgmt. Will await their input before jumping to conclusions.
How about it is all going to India???

Why yes! It's very hot in India. (nm)

not sure, but if you were on the national do not call list maybe this would help?? since you do not know where they got your name from it might help. I am on that list and have not received any calls solicitating, selling, etc. thought this might help.
EMR/India

I am sorry to hear of your loss.  We might as well  face it, this industry is going to the birds.  I have lost four Docs because of outsourcing to India.  It is a shame that the Docs have to find a cheap way out because of all the overhead, malpractice, etc. that they have to pay.  I have been in this for four years and I thank God that I have 12 years doing medical billing, for which I am going back to school to do coding.  There is no job security in this industry, you are treated like dirt, you do not get paid on time and not treated like an employee should be and now EMR.  What is next?  Robots to do patient care?  Good luck to you, but I feel this is just a little wakening up call to all of us that things are changing and not for the good.

India MTs
Where did you get this info that there are more CMTs in India than here in the US? Just curious. Thanks
India
Most of these people, at least at a company I worked for, work 2 shifts every day - company paid for them to get their CMT.
India

One of the reasons there is still such poverty there is that India still has the caste system.  While becoming more westernized has improved the quality of living for the majority of Indians, those in the lower caste are not allowed the same opportunities.  They live in squalor without running water, food, education, etc.

India
This is very disgusting! How are we to compete with $500 a year. If India is so great why is it that they hire Americans to edit this crap all the time??? These companies do not understand you get what you pay for just like everything else in life. It's all about saving the allmighty buck. This is exactly why I and I'm sure others out there do not work for any company who offshores!!
Why India?

Interesting article in "The Record".  Would love to hear opinions on this.

India and CMT

Please tell me they are not only undercutting us in pricing, but they are also getting  a break on the CMT exam?  I am "saving up" to take it! – see below from MT India

"Moreover, with an aim to encourage experienced medical transcriptionists in India to align with global standards and broaden their career avenues, Prometric & AAMT have also announced a special price for the Certified Medical Transcription (CMT) certification exam, which will be available for USD 150 (reduced from previous available price of USD 275)."
India
I agree, the India thing may be part of some of the problems I have noticed lately. Things are in a bit of an upheaval. Certain accounts that were said to have been largely off-shored now seem to be back here and always going out of TAT. The one I'm working on now is like that, and I wish it would stay here because I like it a lot.
no - that's how they say it in India

Probably the one in India.

From India
Me too, about a year ago, but mine was from India, what nerve.
From India, of course! SM
What I can't figure out, if WE can't understand the lot of them, how did they ever get through the recruiting/hiring interview and application process, and how to they communicate with their peers and patients?  Via interpreter??
Me neither whether that be here or in India..

I'm not real sure I see your point.

I'm not being difficult.  I just don't understand how a fire would cause companies to not outsource.

There were fires in California.  There was a hurricane in Texas.  I am quite sure these two disasters did not spare places where medical records are kept.

He/She is probably QA in India
If this were an Indian MT, all they'd have to do is send it to their several layers of QA. This is likely an Indian QA person who has nobody else to ask.
Are you in India?
Just curious, as the way you express yourself does not appear to be the usual English seen on the board.
Are you in India?
No offense, just wondering.
are you from India or some other sm
country? Schools give instructions on Expanders and macros! Oh that is funny! Goes right back to experience! You are not going to have high line counts without extensive experience and learning, learning, learning! MT schools don't have any business (IMO) teaching about expanders and short cuts. They nee to teach medical transcription.

Experienced MTs have worked without expanders and macros before that ever came about and made excellent money. Sometimes I cannot believe what I read on here.
India!! LOL

AAMT in India
LOL, that's a good one. Maybe next year!
