Swift Text or cheaper expander info please

I was wondering if anyone uses Swift Text Expander or any other cheaper Expanders (if there are any). I am going to start doing some IC work besides my full-time job. I am going to be paid hourly but I would like an expander just because I am so used to using it now I would be lost without it. I currently use what is built into my work system now and do not any experience with others. I am only going to do this extra work minimally so didn't know if it would be worth investing in a more expensive expander or if I could get by with a cheaper one. Any info/ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any info.

What Expander works best with Beyond Text?  I have been using Smartype but my system crashes a lot with it.

anyone use an inexpensive expander?

Get yourself a text expander instead.
Or use autocorrect and/or autotext if you are using MS Word. You'll remember abbreviations for your expansions a lot easier than all those key combos. Macros for text went away with DOS. :)

Instant Text.... Love It
Text expander

If anybody types for MedScript, can you tell me which text Expander works. Used to use QuickScript and loved it but it will not work over their network.

Thanks guys!

text expander programs....
Hi everyone. I have been an MT for 14 years and have never used a text Expander program. I've only used autocorrect for individual words and phrases and for years I used ExText and its ESP program. I'm looking at Instant Text, but I'm a little concerned about having to make the choices, etc and being distracted by the boxes. I type pretty fast and am wondering if it would actually slow me down. Does anyone have any thoughts, opinions?? Also - feel free to comment about other expander programs.  Thanks.
Which Text Expander do You Prefer?
I am starting a new job for which I have to purchase a text expander.  I have always used Chartscript and therefore I have always used the text Expander in Chartscript.  However, with this new job, I need my own!    Can ya'll tell me what your favorite expander is?  The only one I know even a little bit about is Shorthand.  Thanks in advance.

Try an expander program like Instant Text.

How could a dictionary/text or word expander..sm
compromise patient confidentiality?  Just another ploy by MTSOs for control.  Some of them think we are so dumb they would claim proprietary ownership to our underwear if they could get away with it.
Has anyone had problems with their Shorthand text expander? sm
I have had mine for almost 10 years with no problems and suddenly it started not working. The type it button became inactive. At first restarting it fixed it but then that stopped fixing it so I uninstalled and reinstalled and that worked for about a day and then it stopped working again and reinstalling didn't help the next time. Has anyone had this problem?

and how expensive it is?  I currently use ShortHand but reading some of the posts below feel I might be interested in trying Instant Text.  Do you know if I would be able to transfer my Shorthand abbreviations into Instant Text?  Thanks for your help!
Instant Text is the only expander that can compile glossaries
from previously saved reports and automatically create your short forms so you don't have to memorize anything. Have you been to their site to see the overview of how the program works?
ABCZ expander shortcuts for Instant Text

I am in search of abcz Expander shortcuts already made into a list or glossary for Instant Text or Smartype.  Does anyone know where to find them?

Thanks

Bayscribe expander entries/Instant Text question ...
Has anyone here had success in converting their Bayscribe Expander entries to Instant Text? If so, how did you go about it.

Thanks in advance.
Yes you can use Instant Text. Turn off DQS expander. Tech support can tell you how.

Call Instant Text and find out how to do this.

Swift software?

I have wondered about this.  Is there, perhaps, a software like Dragon Naturally Speaking (or whatever it is called) wherein you can convert the audio dictation to typed words on your own, and then edit quickly?  If no one on this forum knows the answer, where could we go to ask?

Someone please give me a swift kick in the

rear end to get me to work. I go on a week long vacation starting Saturday with no kids and today I did about 1/4 of my normal lines and that might be padding it a little bit. I was too busy looking at pictures of where we're going. Did I mention no kids are going with me?

Before I get comments about why'd I have kids if I'm so happy they're not going to be there. I have 3 teens who act 65, two 13yo, 12-year-old and a 2-year-old. Three are hitting puberty and one just hit the terrible 2's. It will be our first vacation w/o kids in a long, long, long time. After only 3 days here my mom is asking why I'm not bald already from pulling my hair out. Now if work could just pay me to sit and look at pictures all day and daydream, I'd have it made.

You're really swift, aren't you?

POLL: Productivity gain using your expander and what expander you use.
Guess I need to make it work harder.
The shortcuts expander works with the Bayscribe expander as well.
All at the same time.
Cheaper here only $9

it was one of the cheaper ones :)
got it at Wal-Mart for about $50, I think.
If you get the cheaper ones (under $20) the
wiring has a tendency to break so that you only get sound from one side.  To test this you can jiggle around the wiring on the bad side and you can usually get sound.  I usually have to pull the wiring up like I'm going to lay it across my head towards the other side.   I've been through 3 pairs of earphones for this reason.   I've tried many styles/brands and these are what I like best and $20 once a year or so isn't bad.
Cheaper for you to pay to have sm

Winzip is cheaper and it also (sm)
compresses the files. You will be grateful for the compression when you are sitting in a campground on dial-up access!

Have guts to pay more and look for talent, because you can not get away with competition by just give sarcastic remarks!!! So mind it before saying anything.

You should learn from competition....because that is the healthy way to do business.

Cheaper to buy transcriber?
If he is doing tapes it might be cheaper to go on E-Bay and buy a transcriber than everything that is needed to transfer over to digitial files as well as the time it will take.   If he does micro tapes you can pick up an Olympus Pearlcorder for under $75 on E-Bay and I have always had good luck.
No rent that I know of, but cheaper to buy used on e-bay. nm

A lot cheaper to do it yourself and not hard at all- sm
print out the manual on your computer on installing/removing memory. It is so simple and takes less than 5 minutes to do. I have done it many times. Memory is relatively cheap these days and probably shouldn't cost more than $100 (shop around on-line); so $40 for 5 minutes of work by the computer geek is not a bad racket.
Easier (cheaper) for HIM! OMG,
that would slow me down so much...trying to leave out those little words. Tell him if he really wants those words left out to white them out after he gets the report. Hah!
I dont see how it is cheaper to do it that way (SM)
when they are paying them 3 to 4 cents a line, then it getting stalled in QA and paying them 3 to 4 cents a line. If they would just keep it here and pay us the 6 to 8 cents a line or heaven forbid a bit more, and have it done right in the first place, TAT would be met.
I just found it cheaper

FlashType works just the same and is quite a bit cheaper.

Have you tried Ortho-Novum? It is usually a lot cheaper. SM
When I tried Yasmin, it was going to be about $30/month on my insurance but I switched to Ortho-Novum, which is what I had used years ago for a long time anyway, and it is only $10/month. I know - it is ridiculous the way drug prices are.
