Telephone Record Adaptor

You might want to look into getting a telephone record adaptor that plugs into your laptop sound card.  Also would require audio capture software but then the files would be recorded onto your computer and from there you could transcribe them.

No, I don't there is any adaptor, at least...

I never found one, but sometimes when you are told a particular software only works with a 9-pin, that isn't necessarily correct.  I had a pedal with a USB connector but bought a 9-pin to work with TSP.  Later, I used the 9-pin with software that required a USB connected pedal.  It shouldn't have worked, but it did.  Before you buy a 9-pin, I'd try the other one first . . .

adaptor
Radio shack has an adapter, but they should have told you to get the same pedal version with a USB - would have saved time. Also Execuscribe had great trans materials very inexpensive - same quality and name brands.
I had to have a 9 pin with adaptor s/m
My computer only has USB ports. Was told Escription only works with 9 pin. Bought the adaptor at Radioshack.
What adaptor do you use?
I would LOVE to be able to use my laptop sometimes.
you can get an adaptor or sm
you can get a USB Expander to allow you make one USB port into about 4.
You know, they have an adaptor for that
You didn't need to go through all of that trouble. I despise Dictaphone headphones and I bought an adapter (the same one you bought) and then used my regular headphones with another small adapter (I forget what it is called) to make both sides work.
Telephone Number ...sm
The number you gave below for Detective Joe Rodriquez is not working...sounds like a fax line...please advise? TIA
Telephone ringing

I had a telephone conversation come through once -
It may have been a walkie - I am pretty sure I saw the guy drive down the street in front of me talking on something - it was very brief, I think probably when he was in very direct range.  It was wierd!
Telephone solicitors from out of US?

This person who just called had an extremely thick accent and could not understand me, I had to repeat everything at least twice.  This person gave the name of "John Green". I asked if they were calling from the United States and he said "yes".  The phone number showed an area code in New York, does this assure he is calling from there or can they call from heaven-knows-where through another company's number?

Telephone Solicitors from below

Found a way to stop Dell from calling us hourly for awhile anyway.

We have it set up to be able to view our account online with Dell.

I hate Dell.  They have the worst customer service. They start calling 3-4 days BEFORE the payment is due and continue to call us every hour on the hour wanting us to pay check by phone.  NOT on your LIFE!

Last night, we went online and changed our telephone information on our account.  Instead of our phone number, they now have THEIR phone number.  Let them call themselves.  Wonder how long it will take them to figure that one out.

Where did you find the 9 to USB adaptor?
Did it have a game port switch on it? I've been looking and cannot find one with a game port switch on it.
Wireless USB adaptor
Okay, I think I understand what you and closet are saying. The wireless USB adaptor has the card built in or has the slot that allows you to plug in the wireless broadband card? Next problem, is there a nationwide wireless broadband service provider that covers every state or are they divided up into regions like Sprint, Verizon, etc.? Thank you "me" and thank you also closettechie.
yes...RadioShack has an adaptor, but--sm
I have said this before and I will say it again...it does NOT work with all footpedals. I tried the same thing and it all depends on how the footpedal is wired, particularly the three pedal type. The adaptor does not compensate for that. All it does is allow you to plug in USB port. you may be able to play the file, but fast forward and/or reverse will probably not work. I had to buy a USB pedal, which they provided at a reduced cost for me because my 15 pin was only 3 months old. JMO. but good luck.
C-phone adaptor
Hello, does anybody know if there is an adaptor out there that will turn my C-phone with the little phone jack end into USB? Thanks!
Is it possible to use a 9-pin or USB adaptor with Transnet
Starting IC job and need to have own foot pedal. I have an infinity pedal with a 9-pin but not sure if it will work with Transnet with or without adaptor. Does anyone know?
Telephone dictation for your clients

Anyone interested in offering toll free dial in dictation to their clients? I found a small company that is offering this service for $45/mo. It seems very reliable and they deliver my dictation files via FTP as a .wav file.

If interested reply back and I'll send you their contact info.

Non-compliance of telephone lines
Has anyone had any difficulty with the new SBC/AT&T?  I have been told I do not have many options other than a per minute plan.  I have seen a program called CallVantage.  Does anyone have any information on this plan?
I live in SC and have Verizon for telephone
and internet.  We could get Time Warner Cable also but chose Verizon instead.  We have a home phone which is Verizon also.  We do not have a long distance carrier such as AT&T since we use cell phones for long distance.
It looks similar to a telephone. You use it to dial

directly into the hospital system (usually, can also dial into MTSO system).  You have a foot pedal that controls the dictation.  You complete a report, sign it off and then get another one.  Unless you have an 800 # to dial into, you will need unlimited long distance and most companies that say they offer ULD have a 5000 minute limit, which may not cover you.

You can Google C-phone and find a picture and get more info.

The USB adaptor does the same thing the card does, you don't need

the card if you have the USB adaptor.  The adaptor just plugs into an available USB port and you load the software and if there is an open WiFi signal you're in business.  Sprint and Verizon both have a wireless broadband service, but coverage is limited.   They both have an air card, but again coverage is limited.    If your friend is stopping at truck stops a lot of them have wireless and if not wireless some other type of service.  I don't know if the service is free, if it is free you don't need to get another service, you just use theirs.  They may charge a minimal fee though.  When I was traveling I tried to get dial-up in a truck stop and never could get it to work.

You could get a data plan through your cell phone provided, but again coverage is limited.

Foot Pedal Adaptor??

I need a USB foot pedal. I already have a serial adaptor. Is there such thing as an adaptor or do I have to buy a new one?

Thanks!

I bought a USB to serial adaptor at Best Buy
my job requires the 9 pin serial foot pedal and I got the adaptor for about $40 I think, and it works great.
The adaptor is sold on ebay and
through their website at www.tvps.com. Cost around $22 shipped from ebay.  It works good, but the prongs are a slightly loose fit in the plug; I'm not sure if that's a problem with the adaptor or the plug itself.  Nonetheless, I'm able to use my better quality headphones.  I believe the company that sells these also offers a 60 day warranty on the item when it's purchased.  :)

Broadband/Internet Telephone Service
Does anyone use a broadband/internet telephone service for transcription, such as Vonage, Covad, Lingo, SpeakEasy? I have a local long distance account and am looking into this type of service for a monthly flat fee for unlimited minute usage. Otherwise, the long distance fees would eat me alive. Any info on any company, good or bad, would help me tremendously in making my decision. I am researching several via the internet, but once again, any info would help.

Have a save and sane 4th of July!

downloading dictation versus telephone
ive been transcribing 220-250 lines per hour using the following:  I dial into the telephone system using a Dictaphone to access the dictations and use Persona Client and Telnet software. It is all just straight typing, the dictation is waiting for me as I don't have to download nething.  I get paid by minutes dictated.  For example, if I transcribe 1 hour of dictation it would equal 600 lines.  600 lines at 8 cpl = 48.00.  I'm lookin elsewhere for employment, and I'm worried about the downloading of dictations (which seems most are doing now-a-days) slowing my daily production down.  Does anyone seem to be more/less productive as far as using a telephone to access dictations as opposed to downloading.  Also, is there a big difference between getting paid per 65 character line or by minutes dictated.  TY
magicjack with Lanier or telephone line - sm
The magicjack did not work with my Lanier, and my friend has dial-up and it would not work for her WITHOUT transcribing equipment, just regular calls. I sent mine back the same day.
12 pin Sony foot pedal, adaptor?

I use it with a Sony micro dictator/transcriber but I'm finally jumping into the 21st century.  Anyone know if I can find a USB adaptor for such a foot pedal or will I need to invest in a new foot pedal?  If so, where should I get one?  I'd like to buy one locally, or do I need to but it online?

Thanks!

Need Company that Turns Telephone Dictation into WAV/DSS Files

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a good company that will take my client's telephone dictation and convert them into WAV or DSS files that I can then access and transcribe?. A company that has good pricing and is reliable.  I probably won't have a huge volume to start.  Thank you.

Dave

Hi, just lately I spoke with a couple of companies who said they re-imbursed for telephone charges..
or supplied "calling cards" for specific accounts -- myself, I am glad to be away from C-phones, I did not have a great fondness for them! Have a good one!
deduct telephone, electric and portion of house payments.
Hope this helps!
Any info on converting a dictaphone 2-prong headset adaptor? I need to find a noise cancelling head

If anyone knows where I can find this, please let me know.  thanks

For the record,
the solo-practices and smaller offices are outsourcing to the hospitals...

can anyone set the record for

My record is around 45.  Right now i'm on a report that is up to about 23.  Talk about toxic!

re-record
If re-recording to digital, pretty easy. Play either in handheld or transcriber, and use either computer or digital handheld to capture. Just need the connecting cord between two units - can get at Radio Shack.
if it was in my medical record?

It would depend upon whether or not it could have a negative impact upon my medical care. If the doctor dictated something like, "The patient has diabetes" (when I don't), yeah, I would ask them to correct the record. But for something like what was stated originally ... heck no. Let it stay.

But that's me ... I don't have OCD and I'm not anal retentive about this business like others. Never have been and never will be.

I still think you need to lighten up. There's a lot more to worry about in life than something like that.

expunging record
Just a thought -- a friend had a felony from years ago expunged from her record -- but background checks from then on noted the expungement on her record -- which raised red flags in itself.
another broken record...
me too. It absolutely befuddles me that anyone would be trying to get INTO this field, especially with all the ominous signs that are right out there for anyone to see. I think new moms with babes are just blinded by the idea of "working at home" and can't see the competition they are facing.  Me, I am in nursing school... not an easy job by any means...but I'll be good at it and will find my niche quickly and will always have a job! My biggest account is making noise about getting a VR system. If I wasn't in nursing school, I would be having a panic attack instead!
How did he get his record cleared?
You mentioned that he has a "clean record." I still have this thing on from 11 years ago. Did he have to do something in particular to clean his record or did it just drop off?
We all make dumb mistakes at some time in our lives, eh? LOL
Med Record Retention
That's a very broad question. It's my understanding that the answer depends on the State and the age of the patient at the time of service. Liability required juvenile records be kept forever since it used to be a base could be brought when the injury was first noticed, and that could be well into the adult years.
You have to record to the computer
Get a program like GoldWave (I think goldwave.com). You can buy a plug that goes one end in the transcriber and the other in the computer. One end goes in the transcriber earpiece plug and the other goes in the computer microphone plug.

Then play the transcriber while using Goldwave (or whatever) to record from the microphone input. It creates a WAV file or whatever you specify.
LOL. Did you tell your doctor so he could record it? - NM
NM
That particular patient's record
is still confidential information, thus protected. Who knows, there may be contributing factors about that other patient and that is why the name was mentioned. Either way, if it was dictated to be transcribed and fits with the account specs, it is to be transcribed. I've worked for companies that did and did not allow patient and other names in their records, sometimes it just depends on what the client wants.

These 2 companies were just awarded all of VISN 7. Not sure exactly where the split is. Look on VA website for hospitals make up VISN 7.
Why don't you set the record straight Ms. AAMT?
Why are you sooooooo defensive?
Setting the record straight

You purchased an IN-155 foot pedal for compatiblility with DVI VoiceWav.  (We have sold nearly 1,000 of these with zero returns.)

When you called our toll free 800 number for support we told you that the problem was not the pedal and was either the software you were using or your computer.  Reluctantly, we agreed to do an exchange for you.  (FYI, when your first pedal came back to us it worked absolutely perfectly and still does.  In fact it is plugged into the same computer I am typing on at this moment.  It has been tested daily since it came back with no problems).

Now, you voice incorrect information on MTStars.  Your problem is in your computer.

Please feel free to call us yet again if this is not clear to you.

It is about CLARITY in the medical record.
It makes the medical record easier to read, which means more accurate patient care
Try expunging the felony record. sm
My friend's daughter did this after being turned down for a job at Target. She was an adult. You will need some legal assistance to do it.
