The sound clip is internet based, like music, play and stop.

Teletrak has position available for PT work. Taking the test without foot pedal though is difficult and I wondered if I were just slow (20 yr long MT) or if others would consider this test also a daunting task.

Thanks

I play instrumental music mostly

like the O'Neill brothers.  If there is a good beat, I tend to type faster.  I also make myself get up every hour or every 300 lines and stretch, play with the cat, or just glance outside. It also helps to have some hobbies or other things to get you out of the house and circulating with people in the real world.  Volunteering is great and I also like to help at the polls on election day. I have to use an answering machine to screen calls because I have found that when you work at home everyone assumes you are available to chat.

Internet based transcription - need advice on how to go internet
Can anyone offer any help/advice on how go about becoming internet based from a call in system, or how to keep the call in system for the docs and put transcriptionists on the internet?  Not sure where to start to get information on how to go about doing this. Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.
You can get clip-on magnifiying lens to put on your glasses, like clip-on sunglasses. nm

You never saw "The Sound of Music"?
According to the song, Maria was a flibbertigibbet.
Split play/stop key option
Without the pedal you can hit one F key to start and stop, so with the pedal you go to the options and split the play/stop key and that should help solve the problem.
Most are internet based. $$$

Started power scribe, have to use my mouse for play/stop. Do you know of (sm)
Any keyboard functions for start/stop. I don't have a wav pedal. Thanks for the info!
Not anymore. Most are internet based.

All internet-based accounts & laptops...sm
Excuse me for being so dense about this, but what kind of laptop and internet connection do you all get that enables you to work outdoors or on the road?  Can this work for anybody on any internet-based account?  Do you just plug your foot pedal in your laptop, hook up to internet (but how do you connect to the internet when you are outside or camping?) and go to work.  If someone could explain this to me in detail, I would very much appreciate it.   TIA

RE: Using stop -start program, but cnanot get true speech files to play - any one with any ides it w

would greatly appeciate any advice as to why the start stop program will place the vox files but not the true speech even Iafter I told to associat wiht true speech and so on... The time flickers like it wantt to open the file but it never opens....  THe the error comes up file is too smlal to be a valid sound file or missing file"  Actually the start stop will place the Regan Speech sample audio  that is a true speech file so I would think it could play true speech files

Are there any companies out there OTHER than MQ that hire part time SE or IC that are internet based
that are a decent company that supply you with a decent amount of work.
Is the tool bar in your internet browser?... is the emial web based or Outlook?

14.00/hr for radiology private contractor job/PT, internet based. Good dictation.

When he said we pay by the hour not the line, I was unprepared to give him my fee!   I typed for these rads when I worked at the hospital so know them well.  About two hours per day of work for their outpatient imaging center (MRIs, CTs, mammograms, ultrasounds).

Thanks!

You need something to play the files like free download of Express Scribe. Need to play with your

Line-based vs. hour-based requirement
Hospitals do have an hourly requirement, and generally incentive after a certain line level. MQ only has a line based requirement, which is 12,000 per pay period. The hourly requirement is strange, unless they now plan to convert to an hourly pay plan?
IF you can get it to play, just play it over and over a billion times & fill

Wow - Talk about timing! I just saw a clip from - (sm)
Michael Moore's latest movie, "Sicko".  This time he takes in the inequity and outright greed in the healthcare industry in the U.S.  Sure, some of it is bound to be a bit sensational, like when he takes a bunch of U.S. 911-first-responders down to Guantanamo, but I'm sure there will be many aspects of this movie that will bring other aspects of healthcare besides just going to see a doctor into the public eye.  He had some insiders talking in the movie, too.  That's one I'm going to have to see!  If ever there were a time to state our case, this just might be it.
here is a clip of Star's speech yesterday

The voice clip doesn't offer footpedal capability
It is like the audio clips that music come on. There is only stop and go.

The test is for a company called Teletrak. I asked her and she said you used the mouse to stop and start but geeeesh, that will take all day, especially with the ESL (Tried already), and I am not a bad MT, just used to stopping and typing and you know, rewinding and relistening...

Anywho, thanks! I will try to take it. Figure I will through it all several times times.
stop and full stop
that reminds me of a doctor who had his own very unique word for period...he called it a "perikat".  All through the report...Perikat... perikat.... LOL
If you want to work on the internet from home, take an internet course
But only from Andrews School or M-TEC. Many companies will waive the 2-years' experience requirement and will test and hire you if you go to either of those schools. Do NOT bother with At Home Professions, Penn Foster, US Career Institute, or ESPECIALLY Trans-Am, which is also known as Trans-SCAM and is a total ripoff. You will have a VERY difficult time getting hired without experience unless you choose Andrews School or M-TEC. Yes, they cost more, but that's because they are excellent training programs, not "correspondence courses."
music
I am a child of the 80's and felt like I couldn't be burdened with finding gigs. I am an accomplished pianist (A little rusty at 43) but I love music where there is only piano playing. Does DH like Elton John, Billy Joel, (ok - stretch -KC & JoJo's version of Lately), and Stevie Wonder. Nothing like a man and his piano.
Can't get into her music?
I don't know why not. Her and Mellancamp sound just as bad.
Aah, music...
Taking a break.  Listening to some tunes to relax.  I think some other people should too.  Anyone ever heard of Jill Scott or Erykah Badu?  Common?
Yay! Me too! MUSIC!
I agree with that, music makes my world so much brighter! I throw on some Stevie Wonder and I can't help but cheer up!
Music
Yep, I love the 50's-60's music.   Makes me want to move.

I have a 5-disc CD changer that goes all day while I am working. All music types. I love it! Need the extra noise!
music
I like total quiet while transcribing. But if I'm doing some other kind of "busy" work in my office like filing or more of a data-entry-type job I can do mindlessly, I find that some classical, light jazz or easy-listening type music helps me be more productive.
Has anyone disconnected the internal sound card and replace with another sound card?

I am having problems with my sound on one of my computers.  Several different ExText program have been on it so I don't think it is the program and the sound is just now as clear as on my other computer.  Has anyone switched (disconnected the internal sound care and replaced) to a new sound card?  Did it make a difference.

Everyone on this board is so knowledgeable, I really appreciate you.  You have helped me many times.

Music downloads

I have an online musicstore with Burnlounge at http://burnlounge.com/mlbliss and they are LEGAL to download from.

I would be very careful dowloading free music--they are fining people for this.  If you aren't paying for it--then consider it illegal

Music in the background
I have to turn on my music in the background. It is just distracting enough to force me to focus on my dictator..sounds crazy doesn't it?! That is for the boredom. Sometimes I don't even realize I'm not working and my mind is just drifting off. For the inconsistent income, I have a side income not involved in MT and when things get slow here, I just switch my focus to my other at-home business. Good luck to you!
No loud music at all. It is more sm

like soothing music you would get with yoga.  A lot of people like Windsor Pilates.  I personally did not care for them.  I LOVE Denise Austin's pilates DVDs.  I have a couple.  One has a 30-minute workout and then I have one that is Hit the Spot in which the work outs are only 10 minutes.  I will do one of the core or abdomen ones in the a.m. and then do a lower bod one later in the day.

Pilates do wonders for your strength, toning, flexibility.  I have been doing them off and on for years.  If I stop doing them for a few months and come back, I can tell the different in my flexibility and strength in just about 4 work outs.  I do them about 3 times a week.

Instant Music
You might want to look into a product called Instant Music - its designed to convert cassette recordings to digital files and is very inexpensive.
Soothing music
We all have some dictators that we would like to strangle.  However, I find it very helpful to play New Age or other soothing music in the background while I do transcription.  Not loud enough to disturb but just there to soothe my nerves when these dictators upset me.
Absolutely must have music - sm
If you haven't tried it already, sign up for a free Pandora Radio account.

You can design your own stations based on their recommendations or create your own and have commercial free music all day long.

If I have a dictator who is a very quiet talker, I just click over and pause my radio station. You can also adjust the volume separate from your dictation, which is really nice. Low as you want, loud as you need! :)

I have three stations that I have created to suit my moods.

Check it out. www.pandora.com

Music alternatives for ACDC..sm

My 9yo grandson is into ACDC. I want to turn him on to some alternatives. I am downloading some music for a Xmas present for him and need some suggestions as to something a 9yo ACDC fan might enjoy. Thanks.

What is the best music download site. Need to

be able to burn CDs too.    We don't have iPods.

Tried iTunes - liked it, but since we don't have Apple products not sure it will work for us.

Tried Wal-Mart - liked it, but songs are only good for 30 days unless you burn.  I like to burn, but usually have that CD in the car and like to play off the computer too.

Various others that have a monthly fee charge additional $$ if you burn to CD and then if you discontinue the service supposedly all MP3 files are rendered inactive.

We range from 11 to 48 and like a variety of music, also like something user friendly.

I need a chart where they list all the services and the pros and cons of each.

Nope, and no music on, either! Must have silence! :) nm
