Does anyone know why some companies won't hire you if you have satellite internet service? TIA

They hire part-time too. sm
There are at least 5 people on my team who are part-time.
Amphion uses that system. They also hire part-time employees.

Are there any companies who pay part-time
Just wondering.
For most companies how many hours may part time employees work. What is the minimum and maximum
usually.
Internet based transcription - need advice on how to go internet
Can anyone offer any help/advice on how go about becoming internet based from a call in system, or how to keep the call in system for the docs and put transcriptionists on the internet?  Not sure where to start to get information on how to go about doing this. Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.
Most are internet based. $$$

You need to use your password to get in there and it is an internet based website that is why you
need to get set up if you dont have a password or just go to the website and follow along.
All internet-based accounts & laptops...sm
Excuse me for being so dense about this, but what kind of laptop and internet connection do you all get that enables you to work outdoors or on the road?  Can this work for anybody on any internet-based account?  Do you just plug your foot pedal in your laptop, hook up to internet (but how do you connect to the internet when you are outside or camping?) and go to work.  If someone could explain this to me in detail, I would very much appreciate it.   TIA
Is the tool bar in your internet browser?... is the emial web based or Outlook?

Does anyone know if you are a part time employee for 1 company and part time IC for another can you
still claim deductions for IC on your income tax even though you are one of each.
Depends on how part time the part time jobs are.
You can do it. You just have to work out a schedule you can live with.
14.00/hr for radiology private contractor job/PT, internet based. Good dictation.

When he said we pay by the hour not the line, I was unprepared to give him my fee!   I typed for these rads when I worked at the hospital so know them well.  About two hours per day of work for their outpatient imaging center (MRIs, CTs, mammograms, ultrasounds).

Thanks!

The sound clip is internet based, like music, play and stop.
Teletrak has position available for PT work. Taking the test without foot pedal though is difficult and I wondered if I were just slow (20 yr long MT) or if others would consider this test also a daunting task.

Thanks
What companies hire....

international/over seas MTs? I have been looking and looking for a decent job that hires MTs from Canada, are their any?

RE: What companies hire
Spheris.
Does anyone know of companies who hire
I currently transcribe but miss medical billing. I would love to find a job working from home. Please post response or email me.

thanks
Any companies out there still hire

WHY do companies say they hire QA from within? Do
they not understand that MT and QA are two completely different positions, and that if an MT wanted a QA position, she would've applied for it in the first place?  This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.  Rather than hire someone with 10+ years of QA experience, you'd rather 'promote' an MT to become a newbie QA & have to train them from scratch how to QA? Or make someone who's been a professional QA for years become an MT again, when the reason they became a QA in the first place probably had to do with their hands giving out?!  Again, it's not a promotion -- it's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT JOB.  Sometimes I wonder if the people in charge of making these decisions have any MT experience at all.  <end of rant>
Sometimes companies hire ICs for
overflow, sometimes permanently. As an IC you do have to purchase your own insurance and you get no vacation time. Some places will pay extra for holidays even as an IC, but you will not get "holiday pay" if you do not work. You set your own hours, if the MTSO is willing for you to work those fine. They cannot set in stone your hours, but they CAN say when they have work available if it is not 24/7 and you can choose to work or not.
And that will happen right after the companies who hire...
these illegals finally start getting punished by breaking the law that says they canNOT hire illegals! The whole term "illegal" has taken on quite a new meaning, hasn't it? Just refers to the US citizens these days, I guess - get caught speeding get a ticket. Get caught creeping into our country, get amnesty. Such a world this has come to!!!!
I'd start looking now. Few companies hire newbies so

it make take a while to find a position, or at least a legit one.  There are some companies that will offer to mentor you for no pay or almost no pay.  Avoid any company that says you need equipment/software and you have to buy it from them.  You may need equpiment/software for the position, but should not have to buy from them.

MQ and many other companies hire people for 40 hours
a week with a minimum production amount, but still required to work 40 hours a week, some say 32 hours a week, but a minimum number of hours either way.
Many companies hire new grads for SR editing.

Sorry to hear that. All the hospitals that outsourced on me went with US-based companies and we were

What companies other than MQ hire statutory employees and are they hiring now.
:
I was thinking about this situation with companies that hire people and then there is no work. When
you think about that, that is about as low as anyone can get to just run people out of work for whatever reason when people need money to live, pay bills, support children and feed them, etc. When you really think about that, people's lives hinge on their income and as far as I am concerned, that is the worst thing any company can due to the people that work for them. That is how I feel today because I have been out of work and scrounging for lines and I am disgusted with the whole business. I hope that companies will soon wake up and stop doing this to people. It is disgusting.
Just curious, are there companies who just hire ER MT?? I just left my hospital position due to voi

Does anyone know of companies that hire for physical thearpy work? Many years experience.

Ask for time-based pay
You're an independent contractor. That means you can choose what you do. If an account is not productive for you, you do not have to do it. You can make a suggestion for another type of compensation.

Write out the issues with the account. Keep a log of the time it takes you to do each part of the task. Figure out a charge for that part of the report--like a surcharge for the demographics or whatever it is that takes all that time.

Present that to the service with a request that you be compensated adequately for the work. Specify exactly what that needs to be. You can do this verbally, but a written copy would be good.

They may be unaware that this account is such a problem. It may be that when you point out the issues objectively and dispassionately, in a business-like manner, they'll see the light.

If they do not agree to do compensate you, be prepared to leave. Find another job and, if you really want to remain with these people -- although I can't imagine why you would want to, other than due to inertia -- explain that you would really like to stay, but you cannot under the circumstances. Your previous written explanation of the inadequate compensation should be helpful here.

If you do look for a new job, don't quit this one until you're settled in at the new one. Even if you have to work 2 jobs a while, do so until you are sure the new job is ok. Then quit the old one.

Be sure to be very polite and give adquate notice so you can return if you need to later.

hire time
I think it took a few days after the recruiter emailed me initially b/c she was busy or something, but after that everything went faster. Maybe you should just call, I don't think they would mind. I don't think you should worry.
Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
the "free" part is the constant exchange of dictation via internet...sm

I was just wondering what part of docshuttle is free?  I went to their web site and their fee is .20/minute (under 1,000 minutes of dictation) for the use of a 1-800 number for dictating, and then there are also start-up costs for each dictator, transcriptionist, and transcription administrator.  Isn't this the same as a TASP?"

what I was referring to was not DocShuttle Digital but  DocShuttle Administrator, Dictator and Client, whereas you set up your own FTP site and then use the combined software to have the doc upload dictation to the site, then you/your MT's download it, complete it, post it back to the ftp site, wherein your doc downloads the completed copy. You need to buy the software and Olympus recorders and perhaps a .wavplayer if you don't have anything yet, then you rent an ftp site for $45-$75 per year. You don't pay for phone lines because everything is transferred via internet.

"Even with all the start-up fees and per minute charge, is this a better option than owning your own digital dictation system where you pay for the equipment and phone lines?"  Opinions vary on this but I feel it a pretty flexible system that will allow you to grow as big as you want. Downside is if doc wants to use phone for dictation instead of handheld recorder. Depending on the account, that might be when you want to use a TASP.

You may email me if you wish. I will be happy to share my experience.

Then think about that the next time you hire "painters" nm

Companies and satellite internet
I may be searching for a new company in the near future and was wondering if anyone knows of a way to find out which companies have systems that work with satellite, if there is any sort of list. I know there used to be a site that listed companies and info about them like how much experience they were looking for and what the application procedure was. I can't seem to find it anymore.
full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.
I work part-time hours with full-time pay...
I made over 26,000 this year...
I have to go satellite internet also, but have found no companies that will help with that expense..
I have found plenty that will hire with dial up or satellite, but I cant find a company willing to help with the expense. We spent $600 up front for our satellite system and then $59 a month! It is definitely worth the expense...especially since it would take me 1/2 day just to load my work on dial up before I could even start on it. At least now I am loading and working at a high rate of speed! Good Luck and Happy New Year!
I can answer in part for 2 companies:
Spheris -- FT is 10,200 lines in a 2-wk payperiod; PT is 5100 lines in a 2-wk payperiod.

MQ -- SE is 6000 lines in payperiod. Payperiod = 1st-15th and 16th-end of month.
full time, part time, statutory
newly defined full time...

newly defined part time....(which is an added classification)

I believe statutory just was not mentioned because there is nothing new about the definition of statutory.
full time/part time/statutory
The definition of full time is new.

There is a new classification called part time.

I believe statutory was not mentioned merely because that has not changed and they do not receive PTO/benefits.
I work 1 full-time, 2 part-time....nm

Do most companies that offer this way of typing usually download their part onto your computer? sm
Or am I thinking of something totally different.  The past few companies I have worked for have downloaded their programs onto my computer.  I receive the files and send them via internet through their computer.  Is this the same thing?  Sorry, I know how to transcribe but am computer illiterate (?sp).....thanks...
Has anyone here tested with companies and had trouble with the transcription part with the foot

pedal not stopping the voice.  Am I doing something wrong.  I am using the foot pedal that I used for DQS and the voice just keeps going and going and I have to keep going back over the stuff and over it by mousing back and forth.

part-time or full-time
I'm curious. Are you FT or PT? Thanks.
1 full time and 1 part time for now
I am still pretty new, so that is all I am taking on. I may take on more after I get more experience, if possible.
Part time
I work part time from home, and I graduated about 7 months ago. It fine doing part time, just don't expect to make any money.
part time
I was told I had to work 20 hours minimum and there was no maximum. Since I'm paid by the line, I could work 100 hours a week if I wanted.
Why don't you try getting a part-time job? Try
