Yes, religion, if it is a true conversion, can change lives. But, going to church is no guarantee of goodness. I had a brother-in-law who never missed church, was in a men's religious organization, was a scout leader, and in the sanctuary every Sunday as an ecumenical minister. He raped and molested his own daughters for 20 years and did nothing when their brothers imitated their father. Oh, and he was a huge porno fan all of his adult life.

He was buried last year with everyone in the church thinking he was a fine pillar of the community.

I'm not against church going by any means, just pointing out hypocrites are everywhere and some people use church as a social status thing.
