physical lines
If you are on DQS,the physical line (the line you see) in the text is not the 65-character line you are paid by. And the number of characters in that line can vary depending on how high/low you have your text zoom (smaller font would be more characters on a line and fewer with large font).

Your lines are calculated by dividing the amount of characters in a report by 65. It has nothing to do with the "line" you see on the report.

The best way to be sure DQS is counting your lines correctly is to import a report into a word processing program that counts characters, divide that amount by 65, and see if it matches your DQS count. I've done this and it is correct including spaces and the red headers.

Hope this is what you were asking and hope this helps :)
Did you get physical address??
Did you get the name of her company and the physical address?  Phone number?  There is a lesson to be learned here -- you still need to get all of this info in case something like this happens again.   Unless you have a physical address you cannot send a demand letter with return receipt or serve her with papers or anything.  Hopefully you do have that and can send her a written certified letter demanind payment within 10 days.  Then onto small claims court.   But none of this is possible without a physical address.    Good luck.  If you have her full name or business name and city -- you might be able to do a search to find a phone number.   Did her check to you have a phone number on it?  I always take a copy of the front of checks at least the first one so that I have their account number, etc.  Also shows payment.   Let us know how it comes out.
Physical Therapy
I have a physical therapist interested in me doing his transcription.  It is a small office, they only work about 3 days a week, and I was wondering what to charge him per line? I currently work for an eye dr. making .11 a line and a service for .09. I may have to travel once a week to pick up tapes?(hope not) Any feedback is appreciated.
What?! You are WRONG? Physical Therapy - more than that.
Pharmacy - WAAAAY more than that.  In fact, I don't think ANY of those pay $12 to $18 an hour.  You really should open your eyes and look around.
DH would be outpatient, and then physical therapy.
He has decided not to have surgery, at least not now.   He would be out of work 3 weeks without short-term disability and only 1 week of sick pay, plus he says we can't afford surgery.   While that is true, if you need it, you need it.  I think he's as much scared as anything.  The only surgery he has ever had was a vasectomy under a local and he refuses to take anything stronger than Tylenol.    He isn't hurting now, no swelling, etc. so it isn't like he is in daily pain.  I've tried to talk him into the surgery because we've met our deductibles and while it isn't that much we would have to start over with that, but I can't make him do it.
Physical Therapy Transcripiton

Hello! I'm looking for any of you that are experienced as Physical Therapy transcriptionists. Can anyone give me a head's up about transcribing in this specialty? I've done psychiatric for the past five years and am pretty sure I'll get this position I've applied for at a local clinic. Any support, resources, etc. would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance to all,

Terry

yearly physical (joke)
I went to the doctor for my yearly  physical. The nurse starts with certain basics.

How much do  you weigh?" she asks.
"115," I say. The nurse puts me on the scale. It  turns out my weight is 140.

The nurse asks, "Your height?" "5 foot  8," I say.
The nurse checks and sees that I only measure 5' 5".

She then takes my blood pressure and tells me it is very high.

"Of course it's high!" I scream, "When I came in here I was tall and slender! Now I'm short and fat!"

She put me on  Prozac

Have you considered Physical Therapy?
Or occupational therapy? There is a great need for it, it helps people, and you generally don't kill anyone (grin). While it takes a master's degree to be a physical therapist, the assistant is a 2-year degree.

I have an application in to the physical therapy program at my university, and I'm a little nervous because I'll be turning 50 my next birthday. On the plus side, I won't have children surreptitiously sticking the cat into a Ziplock bag while I'm trying to study this time.
Need some physical therapy websites
Just got a call for transcription for 2 physical medicine doctors and 5 physical therapist and they want me there tomorrow.  I'm looking for some websites for terminology/word list/samples that I can review.  Thanks.  Wish me luck.  This is a temp to hire position both onsite and at home.  Sounds good to me.
Gross physical line??
From what I have been told, a gross physical line is anything typed on a line, regardless if it's one letter or 65.  My question is ... would 8 cpl on a gross physical line for acute care be good pay?  How about 7 cpl on a gross physical line for emergency room reports?  Thanks
Physical therapy website

Have been trying to find a good PT website. I Googled and did not find what I was looking for, which is a site that lists tests, like "cat and camel" and so forth. The sites I have found are not user friendly.

You and your kids need to get out, permanently, BEFORE he gets physical from the drinking. nm

Walking will not only improve your physical health

but probably your mental health too.  You'll get fresh air, take time to smell the roses, meet your neighbors, etc.

Unfortunately I live in the county and we are 8+ miles from anything.

Did he have blood work w/his job physical? Maybe they missed something. nm

Please excuse my typo above - physical therapy

Any kind of intimacy emotional or physical

is being unfaithful.  Put your effort into your best friend, who should be your mate, otherwise, what is the point? If you put your effort into someone else, of course you would be close.

Honestly, your heart knows what is right and wrong.  Listen to it. Respect your relationships or expect to be disrespected yourself.

Physical therapy format needed...

I just started a new account which is typed in a form in Word.  It is not very efficient.  Can anyone suggest where I can find a basic format for transcribing physical therapy evaluations.

Thanks

Physical fitness exams DO NOT require
breast exams. We are required to have them for school before certain grades in our state, and never do they do breast or GYN exams on kids.
I just looked at the physical form online...
There is nothing on it about a breast exam, sorry. I live in PA, too. My daughter got her permit a couple of years ago and she did not have a breast exam. (I'm still with you on the Gardasil, though!)
IF IT'S THE PHYSICAL STRAINS YOU'RE CONCERNED ABOUT...SM

How many waitresses do you see in their 60s and early 70s doing a job that would rival any nursing job as far as physical strai?.  You might want to look on the NURSING BOARD, where they have students 58-59 y/o just starting nursing school; I'm among them, even though I have prior nursing education and need to finish up a few months/years.

If you think a full-fledged RN program might be too much to carry at this point, have you considered an LPN course for 12 months FT or 18 months PT study?  LPNs make a fair salary, even as newbies ... beats this MT "indentured servitude".

HEADERS....as in what? The things like HISTORY AND PHYSICAL headings?

or the heading at the top of the page that we don't type?

and do you find it a little offputting that they can't put in writing that they pay for spaces?  it makes me think all is not kosher.

IF by PT you mean Physical Therapy -- it's EASY! I love PT, don't get it where I work now tho

Probably old question..history and physical plural or singular?

A history and physical was done OR A history and physical were done.

Hey honey, you can work at home and no one will care about your physical appearance. sm
I actually hired a girl one time who was overweight. She could not BELIEVE I would hire her. I told her I did not care if she weighed 1000 pounds, if she could do the work, she was okay by me.
All parts of the body can be palpated, it is part of the physical examination

I heard on the radio 23 states still have paddling in schools or physical discipline.
Does anyone's kids go to a school district where this is in place?  I was shocked.  I remember hearing rumors in middle school 20 years ago or so that they would paddle you, but I had no idea this was going on.  I was shocked.
Does anyone know of companies that hire for physical thearpy work? Many years experience.

and accrording to my physical therapist whose company uses them, the quality stinks royal

Per my physician....
"All the antibiotics in the world will not clear up your sinus problems because you need to dry your sinus passages out." Get those little red Sudafed tablets and take the maximum dosage for several days. Also, try avoiding dairy products to see if that's a trigger. I can't even eat Ranch, mayonnaise or gooey cheese anymore because it triggers postnasal drip with that irritated ticklish throat and cough.
This is a physician saying this
The patient was tooken to the operating room. OMG, please keep me from screaming!! Where did you go to school, or did you finish?

EMR physician
I need quick advise. I worked for 4 physicians, one used EMR (partially) the others still use tapes. The EMR physician does not like to read his dictation and the three mouse clicks to sign his documents is too much. The physician has a high school graduate opening up the notes, reading them, editing them at her discretion and then SIGNING them. I informed them that to the best of my knowledge this was 100% illegal but they are still doing it. I have been doing this for some time, but did not think the rules had changed.
Your own physician tells you that you know too much. nm

I saw an xray the physician had
that showed a Gator-Aid bottle up this guy's rectum. The wife wanted to know if he had accidentally sat down on it. He had to have it surgically removed. And then again, there is the one I typed on where the person was an alcoholic, had drank dog shampoo and when arriving at the ER was blowing all kinds of bubbles.
Physician Websites

Here are a couple good ones:

www.healthgrades.com

www.doctorpricing.com

The physician put his comment in
quotes and it should have been transcribed. I would get more offended about incorrect dosing of meds you hear in reports if I had the option to pick my battles, but the fact is, you are a Transcriptionist who is being paid to transcribe what the physician says. You really have to leave your personal stuff out of it. And, if you are the patient, and you are crass enough to be so rude and foul then you deserve to see it in black and white.
This sounds like an ad placed by a physician's
I cold called thinking they may consider an at-home MT, which yes they would be fine with, but they thought event $1.00 per page was pricey since the in-house MT could easily type 20 reports an hour, so they were doing the math.  They figured by my charging per line that I would make way too much. Of course, I told that person very politely that I would work for no less than $3.00 per page if that's how they were looking at it and that I charge for production.  So maybe this office expected the same thing your hospital does.  However, if you type 3 MRI reports, then you're done for with the expectation of 20-25 reports per hour.  All I can say is the hospital advertising this way must have a lot of normals and only perform plain x-rays and not any kind of special procedures or MRI/CT.
A physician shared this one

with me...

The patient was in a cute dress... (medical Transcriptionist error....)

Physician Letter

Opinions on this please:   Most of my physicians dictate where they would like new paragraphs to start in their letters to other docs.  However, I'm just starting with a new person and she didn't specify.  She told where she would like periods, quotations, etc. but she never even once dictated that there should be a new paragraph.

I'm tempted to just put the breaks where they seem correct, but I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do.

Any suggestions?

Physician Finder - a useful one

you can search using different criterias, might be helpful for u ppl

use the link below

http://doctor.webmd.com/

Try the AMA Physician Finder
You can do a "sounds like" search by state, and by specialty. Somewhat tedious, but you can generally find them when all else fails.

Here's the link:

Exactly why I quit using my last physician.
I would wait close to an hour in the waiting room only to feel ignored once I got into the exam room. My doctor spent more time on the computer than he did with my exam. I finally got tired of this and changed doctors.

How do you know the physician hasn't
reported it. No, I do not believe it is our place to do so.
are you sure the physician HASNT sm
reported it? I don't think (I am quite sure) that our scope of duties does NOT involve any of that. Would be real tempting to report though wouldn't it?
Practice eating gross things w/o gagging, learn to do puzzles and amp up physical endurance.
Study and find out what type of profile you may fit under and act accordingly. Quiet low-key people have won and I think they had the ability to read other people (Sandra and the last winner). Then there are the born leaders who form an allegiance with groupies who trust them (Rob). Just see where you fit personality wise and physically and plan ahead.
Actually, throw out the BOS and use the physician's preference.
I learned that disc is eyes, disk is computer disk, and disc/disk for back is up to the account preferences.  The doctors do not care what some stupid AAMT BOS book says because it's THEIR notes and they aren't regulated by the AAMT.
Work hourly for physician. Need help..
I wonder if someone could tell me how they created an invoice when being paid hourly doing transcription. I tried using MP Count but it only calculates using line counts. Thanks for any help.
I worked at a 25 physician multispecialty

clinic as an audit clerk to the transcriptionists (counted lines by hand back when we used typewriters).  I picked up some terminology by reading clinic notes as I was counting.  I took a terminology and anatomy class and my boss let me take tapes home to practice on.  When there was an opening, I tested and got in!  I also worked for an ENT doc (who was desperate for a transcriptionist) part-time in the evenings while I was learning to transcribe.

Then the dictating physician needs to spell it out instead
of expecting us to be psychic. I used to waste so much time at my old job trying to find the proper addresses for these yahoo CC physicians. In the meantime, the dictating physician mispronounced, didn't spell, and didn't even give a clue where the other doctor worked. I had to check the company physician list, the hospital physician directory, Anywho.com, then Google. And that was even if I could spell it properly! One physician in particular couldn't pronounce properly. He would put extra Ns and Rs throughout the name. How was I supposed to find it? And I got chewed out by QA for not being psychic enough to figure it out.
