A serious question

At what point in Obama's term will those of us opposed to his policies be allowed to freely voice them without being attacked for being racist, right wing, or, even worse, Bush-lovers?  I'm totally serious.  I did not vote for Obama, along with 55 million other people.  However, I have accepted the election results as I did my part and voted my conscience.  Now, he is my president for at least the next 4 years.  When will I be allowed to voice my concerns without being attacked?  After his first 100 days, first 6 months, or after the first year?  Ever?? Liberals (or progressives as they like to call themselves now) have no problem using the freedom of speech rallying cry to attack conservatives on every single issue they can get their hands on.  But conservatives aren't allowed the same freedom.

I have been lurking here reading the "3 more days, 2 more days, 1 more day" e-mails.  I'm so happy that you're happy about the change in leadership.  I realize what a historic moment this is in our nation's history.  Believe me, I really do.  But what exactly do you think Obama is going to do for you?  He is just a man, after all.  You do realize that many of the campaign promises he made on the campaign trail have been tossed aside (higher taxes on the rich being the most prominent one).  He doesn't need them now.  He's been elected.  And his staff is already putting out the word that our hopes and expectations for him are too high and that we need to be patient with him.  How patient do we need to be?  Is he going to protect our country from future attacks from rogue nations once he closes Gitmo?  Or is he going to open up a dialogue with them when they bomb their next target.  Yes, President Bush made a lot of mistakes.  But I felt safe with him as president.  And I definitely don't feel safe with President-Elect Obama.  I sure hope he proves me wrong.

I just am having a hard time dealing with the love-fest that's going on over this inauguration.  The media have been in Obama's pocket since it became clear that Hillary wouldn't get the nomination.  And believe me, I would feel exactly the same way about Hillary if it was her going to the podium tomorrow instead of Obama.  My beliefs and core principles are the complete opposite of the liberals.  I believe in personal responsibility, not government handouts.  I believe in working hard for my family (I work 2 jobs - 1 full-time, 1 part-time) and don't ask for the government to pay my bills.  I have been behind in my mortgage due to medical problems my husband has.  We have insurance but high deductibles and copays.  I have worked out a payment plan with my mortgage company to keep my home instead of walking away.  That is the American spirit.  Not sitting back and expecting Obama to take care of putting gas in my car and making my mortgage payments.  I wouldn't have expected it with McCain/Palin either.  But lord help me if I say one negative thing about Barack Obama's policies.  That makes me a racist.  When will I be allowed to voice my freedom of speech without being attacked?

Go ahead, flame away.  But I believe I have a valid question.
