Veteran Removes The American Flag This is a video clip showing the veteran who went down to a Mexican restaurant in Reno , NV to take down the American flag that was being flown under their Mexican flag. This guy silenced the folks on the sidewalk and makes me proud to be an American. I think it's going  to take a lot more of this kind of revolting to change things....watch and be proud.

right, but has he to bring a BIG American flag into the office
too, before even asking what the office policies are regarding this?
Don't want a fight, just want to ask, Does Obama respect the American Flag?

I saw this picture of his airplane before the makeover

and here it is after the makeover

His "symbol" "slogan" "trademark" or whateverthatis replaced the flag. I'm
sorry but I just don't understand why unless he has no respect for it.

Can someone explain without getting upset; just explain it.

no flag for me
I wont hang a flag, but if I did it would be upside down, the symbol for help/distress.  Or I would rather burn a flag.  Sorry, for the negativity but that is how I feel about this country.  My father fought in WWII and received a Purple Heart, my cousin is in the Navy right now.  I just dont recognize America anymore.  It is not my country.  I feel like I have just landed on earth from Mars, LOL.  Now, Sandra Day O'Connor is retiring, oh boy..another major fight with the right wing.  Bush is on TV now saying..yada..yada..yada, he will take into consideration, yada..yada..yada..We know who he will nominate, a radical right wing nut.  Sigh..
Flag pin
I love our country and respect it, but I do not wear a flag pin ever. I don't see why wearing a flag pin is so important. I was never taught to put my hand over my heart for the national anthem and most people I know do not. Men are to take their hats out, stand tall and pay attention, nothing else.

I don't understand all the attention on a pin.
put on your flag pin, your big

girl panties and pay your fair share.  I don't want to work to pay taxes that go to the endless war, yet as an american citizen, I do because I must.  Think of others for a change.

Oh no...not the flag pin again. LOL

Red flag s/m

The site is a blog.  I notice that what I thought was a link to Obama's tax returns didn't go anywhere.  The only thing visible is the "summary" of what this person SAYS is on the tax forms.  Show me the REAL tax return and I'll be happy to say what I think about his charitable contributions. In the meantime, it is his business as McCain's tax return is his business.

the flag pin dealio

is a Rovian tactic aimed at the dumbest, uneducated, stick-in-the eye voters. Like those Pennsylvanians in the Oprah book of the month. Called Country Roads or something.  Was rural PA residents which had murder, incest, etc.  A good read.

Aren't you ashamed to include yourself in that group? Real problems need to be solved, not accessorized with flag pins.

oh drop the flag pin, will you?

Something sends up a red flag
It was on every single station except for two. Didn't watch it because it's just another form of brainwashing. Why does he need a commercial where it is blatanly obvious he did it so nobody would be able to ask him any questions. What's on the mind of everyone I know is why didn't he hold a conference and take questions?

Heard he said (or will be saying) the same ol same ol.

Just another regime tactic.
I am sure that the supervisor did not say that the flag
is offensive. How could she? She herself, I am sure, is already an US citizen, after being for 14 years in this country and being her supervisor.

It was all about the supersized flag!

A little thing on her desk would have been enoigh!
It was all about the SUPERSIZED flag
and I am sure that the supervisor did not say that the flag is offensive.

and then he proceeded to wad the flag up!
xx
Great post!! And I will put out my flag, too.

We are so divided in this country that sometimes I think we're headed for another civil war.

But we are still all Americans, and we've got to find a way to come together.

I remember how it seemed the entire country came together after 9/11.  I hope that can happen again without such a tragedy preceding it.

I hope you and your family have a blessed 4th!!!

My flag flies every day, not just today.
Always has, always will.
You can't honor the flag and still think about those things? nm
x
as long as you wear a flag pin while doing it
you are being patriotic, lol! Sorry, couldn't resist. Now, go put on your flag pin right now and conform!
I'm not talking about flag pins
What IS your problem? You want to vote for Oblama, fine, do it. But don't mistake your empty suit for a patriotic American.

McCain does not wear flag

pin as he writes an article in an accountant's magazine claiming that deregulation of financial business was so successful he wishes to deregulate the health care industry.  let's see if this gets the subject off the ground.

ABC Bans Flag Pins

Well isn't that just American... Now do you know why they're called the drive-bys? Think drive-by shooting...

ABC News bans Flag Lapel Pins

Yesterday, the brass at ABC News issued orders forbidding reporters to wear lapel pin American flags, or other patriotic insignia. Their reasoning was that ABC should remain neutral about "causes".

Since when is support for preventing our death & destruction some sort of a cause? Since when is Patriotism to be discouraged. I urge you to boycott ABC and its sponsors and affiliates.

We
are slowly losing everything our country stands for, and everything our men and women fought and died to preserve.

Please forward this to as many as you can. You can
verify it by going to:

All you need is a flag pin or a Steelers uniform to run. lol nm.

I don't wear a flag pin, and I'm patriotic.
.
The thing that raises the red flag for me is ....sm
that she said she was called on her cell phone. I talked to my family and friends about that and no one that I spoke to has ever had a call from a campaign on a cell phone. Does anyone else recall? Another point is the some people are saying that the polls in the election may not be that accurate because so many people have cell phones now and no land line, and pollsters only use land lines where polling for the election. Comments?
Another thank you for your service. White flag is right..

what a nation of wimps we will become under this man. He'll be hiding behind Michelle's skirt.

Wave that confederate flag.....
I suppose the millions without jobs right now are all black/hispanic/asian? You really don't deserve a response, but, sometimes the trash needs taken out.
How can you trust him otherwise? He could be purposely disrespecting our flag (sm)
as a sign to those he truly sides with that he is on their team. The mere thought that someone could be elected to be our President while refusing to accept our flag is just insane! Do you have any idea how good we have it in America compared to other countries? Do you want to become a third world country? Do you know how possible it is?
Refusing to acknowlege our flag is disrespectful nm
x
Haha! It always seems the people with the biggest flag-

She should have ASKED her supervisor if she can put this giant flag
up in her office which she SHARES with her supervisor!
Why didn't she ask before?
It seems that these 2 ladies do not get along well, I stop here now before I say too much.....????
REAL Americans don't gripe about their flag!

Why assume that flag-flying was this individual's
There's nothing in the story to support your assumption that flying the flag represents this individual's complete understanding of the notion of patriotism.

On the other hand, flying the flag IS certainly ONE expression of patriotism - a form of protected speech, in fact - and the ONLY question here is not whether this individual has a simplistic view of patriotism, but whether displaying the flag should have been prohibited.

We'll just call this your quota of "straw man" logical fallacies for the week, shall we? You may not post another one until next week.
So SP wrapping the flag around her body for a political photo op

GIVE ME A ROYAL BREAK!!! FLAG-FLYING
Flag-flying IN AND OF ITSELF is not "patriotism"

PATRIOTISM is standing up for one's COUNTRY against all - including the government.

You can show your patriotism in MANY MANY ways other than flying a flag - one of the most important ways is to EDUCATE yourself about how the government LIES good men and women into fake wars to LINE THE POCKETS OF THE ALREADY RICH.

We have not been "fighting for our freedom" since 1776!!

WANT TO SHOW YOUR PATRIOTISM? Get the facts about what your government is REALLY using your tax dollars for and HOW they are really using your sons and daughters...

Mexican plants
They might consider closing those Mexican plants and bringing the jobs back to Detroit.  Then they might not need a bail out.  I haven't noticed the price of cars and trucks going down since they built the Mexican plants.  Guess the savings on labor went straight into the crooks pockets!
I suspect the "sore spot" lies beneath the bonnet......nm

Veteran
I was in the Army during desert storm.  I was in for three years and had the GI bill.  I came out and went to college.  Guess what???  I had to get grants.  My GI bill would only pay a percentage of my tuition for each semester and it was not enough to cover all of it.  I never even got to use the full amount that was supposed to be given to me to use.  Only a percentage.  They lie just like the politicians!
Ohio War Veteran Running for Senate... sm

Ohio War Veteran Running for Senate

By DAN SEWELL
The Associated Press

CINCINNATI -- Paul Hackett, the Democratic veteran of the Iraq war who narrowly lost a special election in a heavily Republican congressional district in August, made his official entry into a U.S. Senate race Monday.

He faces a tough Democratic primary with Rep. Sherrod Brown in the race for the nomination to challenge second-term Republican incumbent Sen. Mike DeWine next year.

Hackett's only political experience is a stint as a small-city councilman.

I'm asking all the people of this great state, regardless of political affiliation, to consider my message and to consider joining me in the fight to take back our government from the career politicians and their special interest support groups who have hijacked our government, he said as he announced his campaign at his home in suburban Indian Hill.

Hackett decided to run for Congress earlier this year after completing a seven-month tour of duty in Iraq as a Marine reservist. That special election in southern Ohio's seven-county 2nd District was to replace Rep. Rob Portman, who left his seat to become the U.S. trade representative.

Hackett won the Democratic nomination, then battled Republican Jean Schmidt, a former state legislator, in a campaign in which he linked her to embattled Republican Gov. Bob Taft while sharply criticizing President Bush's handling of the war.

Schmidt won on Aug. 2 with 52 percent of the vote, though Portman had consistently won re-election in the district with more than 70 percent and Bush had carried it in 2004 with 64 percent.

Hackett's strong showing in a state that was a pivotal presidential battleground solidified the attorney as a likely 2006 candidate for Congress or statewide office.

After Hackett decided to oppose DeWine, Hackett was irked when Brown, with three decades of elective politics behind him, decided he also would run.

Brown, a former state legislator and Ohio secretary of state, is in his seventh congressional term, representing northeastern Ohio's 13th District. He's expected to officially launch his Senate race in early November.

Brown said Monday he initially didn't plan to run because of family reasons, but changed his mind with his family's encouragement. He said he wasn't expecting the race for the May 2 primary to damage his chances of defeating DeWine in the general election.

I've had primaries before, Brown said. It makes me a stronger candidate.

A Veteran’s Letter to the President:
“I Return Enclosed the Symbols of My Years of Service”

by Joseph DuRocher

President George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear Mr. President:

As a young man I was honored to serve our nation as a commissioned officer and helicopter pilot in the

U. S. Navy. Before me in WWII, my father defended the country spending two years in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Hornet (CV-14). We were patriots sworn “to protect and defend”. Today I conclude that you have dishonored our service and the Constitution and principles of our oath. My dad was buried with full military honors so I cannot act for him. But for myself, I return enclosed the symbols of my years of service: the shoulder boards of my rank and my Naval Aviator’s wings.

Until your administration, I believed it was inconceivable that the United States would ever initiate an aggressive and preemptive war against a country that posed no threat to us. Until your administration, I thought it was impossible for our nation to take hundreds of persons into custody without provable charges of any kind, and to “disappear” them into holes like Gitmo, Abu Ghraib and Bagram. Until your administration, in my wildest legal fantasy I could not imagine a U.S. Attorney General seeking to justify torture or a President first stating his intent to veto an anti-torture law, and then adding a “signing statement” that he intends to ignore such law as he sees fit. I do not want these things done in my name.

As a citizen, a patriot, a parent and grandparent, a lawyer and law teacher I am left with such a feeling of loss and helplessness. I think of myself as a good American and I ask myself what can I do when I see the face of evil? Illegal and immoral war, torture and confinement for life without trial have never been part of our Constitutional tradition. But my vote has become meaningless because I live in a safe district drawn by your political party. My congressman is unresponsive to my concerns because his time is filled with lobbyists’ largess. Protests are limited to your “free speech zones”, out of sight of the parade. Even speaking openly is to risk being labeled un-American, pro-terrorist or anti-troops. And I am a disciplined pacifist, so any violent act is out of the question.

Nevertheless, to remain silent is to let you think I approve or support your actions. I do not. So, I am saddened to give up my wings and bars. They were hard won and my parents and wife were as proud as I was when I earned them over forty years ago. But I hate the torture and death you have caused more than I value their symbolism. Giving them up makes me cry for my beloved country.

Joseph W. DuRocher

Joseph DuRocher was for 20 years the elected Public Defender of Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit, covering Orange and Osceola counties. Since retirement, he’s been writing and teaching law at the University of Central Florida and the Barry University School of Law. He was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy in the 1960s, serving as a Naval Aviator in the Atlantic, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. On Monday, Mr. DuRocher returned his Lieutenant’s shoulder bars and Navy wings to President Bush, and enclosed the following letter. Mr. DuRocher can be reached at: PDJWD@aol.com.

Yep, sure am old enough to remember. My husband is a veteran, and he met Col. North...
...a few months back, in an airport, and was coming off a flight and had to rush to a connecting one, and who was sitting there in the lobby typing on a laptop, was Col. North.

My husband saw him, stopped abruptly, walked up to him and said, "Col. North?" To which, Col. North stood up immediately.

My husband held his hand out and introduced himself. They shook hands. My husband only had time to thank him for his service to our country. Then my husband had to run to his connecting flight.

Col. North is a real American hero, in every sense of the word.

The retired military hold Col. North in high esteem, to this day. They know what he did, and how he stood up to congress and took the fall for the good of the country, way back then, for the Iran mess.

I'm sorry, there just simply is no excuse under any circumstances for spitting on a veteran. sm
That site is a riot though.  A real blast from the 60s.  Definitely with their own agenda, that's for sure.

I was brought up Buy American made products, keep American jobs.
Always bought American made cars and bought products from companies where my family was employed. Now look at America? We are definitely connected all around the world.

My feeling? Obama states he wants to start from the poor upward. Not the other way around like it has been for quite awhile. That to me does not necessarily mean just in America, but around the world by taking the poorest countries and working upward so America's pay wages and everything else will be so low and comparable to the poorest countries. After all, we are now connected together.

Cannot wait to see what will happen with the Swine flu this fall with the second wave and what it will do to the economy of all the countries combined at once.
Any child born to American parents is an American -
I am sorry, but I respectfully disagree with you - any child born to American parents is an American even if they are born overseas. The birth has to be registered with the United States, but they are still an American even if they are born in the foreign hospital.

I have 2 cousins who were born in Japan and they have no problems at all being "American".
So, you're not American?
I see the trap you're setting here...and this conversation is over.
Did you know that the American

Indian was ***bestowed*** citizenship in 1924. Until that time I guess he would be described as an illegal. Since so many Indians had died in WWI the government was publicly embarrassed and so made the indigenous people citizens of their own land.

I don't know why I put the moccasin article on the other board. I guess, being an optimist, I thought this was 1 thing we could agree on, but alas, tis not true. I might add that $21 is incredibly cheap. Handmade moccasins made the traditional way, sewn by hand with sinew and leather strips usually cost around $50 to 75$ for the most plain design. I hope some of you will do this. It would mean more than you know.

I'm with you there.....BUY AMERICAN!!
@@
Sure, that's the American way.
Having lost some $30,000 in the stock market, I'm not exactly thrilled with the change that brought that about. Wouldn't mind seeing some "change" there.
If you are an American
Then you should support the American president.  If you do not support the American President for any reason at all, any reason at all, you are not patriotic, you do not stand for this country, you should not benefit from it, and you should leave.  One America under God.
American....
I don't like Obama and that doesn't MAKE me anything one way or another, except this is not the man for the job IMO. I didn't trust him before and I certainly have absolutely no faith in him now after he has sunk this country to the tune of trillions, which my children and their children will be paying for dearly! Thanks for nothing, Obama!

I have strong feelings against both parties because they have forgotten what they were put there to do; it has turned into a free-for-all up there. They look out for their OWN interests....definitely not mine.

You are right. WE are the government and we are allowing this. Those sitting on their cushy little bums every day drawing huge paychecks think they are thing to rule us, the American people, like we need to be showed how to live, how to raise our children, how to think for Heaven sakes! I'm sick to death of it. Even seeing the posts on this board prove to me how complacent people have become and will turn a blind eye to anything.

My gut feelings told me this guy was not right to lead this country and I believe it more and more every day.

I still say Ron Paul was the only one with the right path and the only one who really showed true character and leadership for this country....not what was in it for him!!!
