But he told the officer he wasn't protesting but then said he was at the end.

McKinney apologizes for scuffle with officer..sm

We've heard a lot about this story, and I think Cynthia was in the wrong. She should have gone through the check point and not around it, and explained who she was, and most importantly had her ID on.  Maybe she thought since she had been in congress since 1992 they would recognize her by now.  Maybe it was a reflex hit.  Who knows?  Either way she should not have swung on the officer.

Surely republicans with their forgiving hearts and *everyone makes mistakes* attitude will accept her apology and move on.  NOT.  See link.

Arresting officer, who is Jewish, took no offense. sm

He pretty much said what I did below.

Arresting Deputy Didn’t Want To ‘Defame’ Gibson

‘I don’t take pride in hurting Mr. Gibson’ says officer, who is Jewish

MSNBC
The Associated Press
Updated: 7:56 p.m. PT July 31, 2006

Excerpt:

CALABASAS, Calif. - The deputy who arrested Mel Gibson on suspicion of drunken driving said Monday that he feels bad for damage to the star’s reputation but hopes Gibson thinks twice before drinking and getting behind the wheel.

James Mee, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, told the Associated Press that he considered it a routine arrest and didn’t take seriously any comments that Gibson made.

Gibson reportedly unleashed an anti-Semitic tirade and made other offensive comments when he was pulled over, initially for speeding, early Friday along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. He was then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Gibson has issued a public apology for his conduct without specifying what he said or did.

“I don’t take pride in hurting Mr. Gibson,” said Mee, a 17-year deputy who is Jewish. “What I had hoped out of this is that he would think twice before he gets behind the wheel of a car and was drinking. ... I don’t want to ruin his career. I don’t want to defame him in any way or hurt him.”

*snip*

TMZ reported that Gibson said, “The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world,” and asked the arresting officer, “Are you a Jew?”

In the interview outside his home, Mee would not comment specifically on what Gibson said.

“That stuff is booze talking,” the deputy said. “There’s two things that booze does. It amplifies your basic personality. If you are a laid-back kind of person, just an easygoing kind of person, booze is going to amplify that and you’ll be just sitting around going how it’s a wonderful day.

Those were the arresting officer's words, not mine. nm

I agree- that officer should have been arrested instead of fired.
But it's nice to see Dems sticking up for child abusers and drunkards. I guess birds of a feather and all that.
Michigan Police Officer's Take on Obama...
This was forwarded to me by a boyhood friend who is a retired cop.

Please pass this along to everyone that you have on your e-mail list because this is just the beginning if this arrogant, egotistical, super liberal, president wannabe gets into office....

To all,

I have read all of the emails from not only some of the MTOA board members, but from other Law Enforcement & Military personnel about Barack Obama's rudeness and what seems to be disgust for basically anyone in uniform. Well, it's my turn to add to the list of emailers and here it is:

So members of the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department, Michigan State Police, (me included) and other local agencies inside Calhoun County are working with Secret Service in the security of Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama's bus arrives in Battle Creek and pulls into the stadium area. Before Mr. Obama exits the bus, he has the Secret Service get off and tell all Law Enforcement personnel in uniform that they now have to stand behind the bus so Mr. Obama is not seen with anyone in a Law Enforcement uniform before he gets off or while in the public view. So, everyone from Michigan State Police, Sheriff's Departments and other agencies look at each other for a brief second, go and stand behind the bus out of sight so Mr. Obama does not have to see, or been seen with, what to him is 'undesirables' since he refuses to been seen or even acknowledge Military or Law Enforcement personnel in uniform. And he wants to be our commander-in-chief!

At a time of war and terrorism in our world, this presidential candidate who is being protected by various branches of the military & law enforcement at the tax payers expense, refuses to acknowledge, be seen with, have in his photographed background, any type of Military or Law Enforcement in uniform.

But this is not in the headlines or in the news or on TV. The TV news doesn't show us marching around behind the bus. In the future, look and see if you can see a single soldier or police officer in uniform when you see Obama. Why? I wonder what the story or media frenzy would be if it was Muslims, blacks, whites, Jews, or any other race, gender, religion, and/or occupation, that Mr. Obama refused to be seen with or have around him.

Why would I make this up? Everyone in Law Enforcement knows we have traditionally had more funding under Democrats.

Just food for thought leading up to November 4th.

McCain wasn't desperate and wasn't behind in the polls
In fact, they have been neck and and neck, and McCain has been gaining in the polls while Obama has been slipping. McCain could have taken the easy way and kept the stable course and picked safer, sure. Instead, he picked a maverick leader like himself, who isn't afraid to get in there and make changes even if it goes against their own party. I believe he wanted to say that the Republicans are the party for change, and wanted to make a bold statement. I've seen statements at "other sites" as well where people are absolutely joyous at this pick.
....still protesting too much (sm)

Again with the protesting too much....
busted. Fork-done-you get the picture. :-) let's move on. :-)
I'm protesting all of them
I just realized we do have another choice besides McCain and Obama - its called Nobody. I see I didn't get many responses to my last message (I guess not much to argue about with people now that HRC is not in the running). Anyway...I have come to realize this. First and most important (to me at least) is that I do have a choice and I don't have to choose between Obama or McCain and I won't. It's called No vote. Second, I believe that Americans do not pick the next president. When it is clear that Gore actually won (which I am horrified to hear as I could not stand him and was dreading the idea of him as president). He (IMO) is as worthless as Clinton was and I did not want a third Clinton term, so was happy when he lost. But then to find out he actually won, but the "higher powers" had already selected who they wanted in. So...therefore why should I vote when my vote actually does not make a difference. Therefore I've solved my problem of voting for the lesser of the two evils. Mine will be no vote and at least my conscious will sleep better. Whoever gets elected will be elected by the "richest of the US, the lobbyists, the elite, and the corporations". So that is my humble oppinion about all this nonsense.
The protesting will not stop...so yes...sm
If the war is something they believe strongly in then they will have to serve and ignore the protestors. If they are stuck on contract, they will have to serve and pray that the protesting works in their favor.

There is a divide in this country and both sides deserve to be heard.
What if the protesting is getting them killed. sm
Like it did in Vietnam?
Again with the protesting too much. No one cares....
and it really doesn't matter to anyone other than you, I don't think. I certainly don't care. Did not mean to stir the hornet's nest by calling you by an old moniker. It's not like anyone who has been coming to the board for awhile doesn't know that anyway. And again...it doesn't matter, does it?

And if you are not angry, you are the angriest-sounding nonangry person I have come across in awhile.

:-)
What?! We should be protesting ACORN
nm
So you think protesting AGAINST more taxes
xx
So why aren't you protesting...(sm)
cap and trade instead of taxes?  It sounds to me like you're a little confused.  BTW, Obama has already recognized potential problems with cap and trade and has stated they will do something to offset those costs.
These people were not peacefully protesting...
they attacked people going into the convention. They destroyed property. The constitution does not guarantee people the right to destroy property and attack people.
Wow! There are people protesting outside the room.
People were just yelling something about the bailout and somebody yelled "Put the money in the food bank so people can eat."!!!
So those protesting tomorrow are skinheads?
I have a feeling they will be hard working people just like the average American citizen..... ya know, those that actually pay their way in life and are sick to death of seeing it go to the dump!

I'll be looking for those skinheads and racist militia nutjobs you speak of.

BTW, please explain to me what is racist about wanting NO MORE TAXES! Now, don't scurry away.... stand up and try to defend your comment.
sounds like he was at the VA protesting, but at the time he was approached he was just having a cup

Still protesting too much.....and pot calling kettle black.
Sarcasm, condescenion, put-downs...check your last sentence. And I was serious, I hope you DO have a good day...you probably need one, because you bear a lot of hostility toward an anonymous poster on a public board. Remember Teddy...you shot first.
One million people are protesting in Iran...sm

What the Mousvi supporters are trying to do in  Iran is to show the world that they can bring down the  Ahmedinejad and hopefully also the leader of the theocray

WITHOUT

the meddling of the US for which they did not ask.

There are also in  the cleric council contradicting opinions regarding the legitimate outcome of the election and how to proceed in solving this massive protests.

Ahmadinejad, meanwhile, left the country to Russia!!

This shows AGAIN  the diplomatic excellence of Obama AND Biden when they held back their meddling and interfering, letting the people try it on their own!

If it were up to McCain and Cheney they would have made out of this conflict a 2nd-Iraq siituation, probaly invaded Iran!

Do you believe everything you are told?
If so, that explains a lot.
he was told to by

his Rove advisors - they are desperate.

Who told him? You?
nm
Like others have told me..........sm
do your own research.
No from what I was told
they look at a map of your address when you register (this was my first time registering and my husband had to reregister in this county) and if they are careless about it they will sometimes send you to the wrong polling place.

Still makes me wonder!

My husband joked they were probably giving us the run around because we are Mccain supporters in an area of heavy Obama supporters LOL

YES WE CAN, yes we DID, told ya so, HE WON
he won he won he won
Don't like being told what to do, either.
;p
What he SHOULD have told them
He should have told them where to stick their poisonous foodstuffs and lead-painted toys. I have no idea why we're buying their crap.

Do you really think that we are told what is REALLY
going on in Gitmo?
You must really be naive to believe that what the media tells us is the truth, the truth and nothing but the truth!
I bet it is 100 times worse than we are told.

They told her she did not have a right to speak and a lot of other
pretty awful things as well, Democrat.  I am sorry you are so blinded by the hatred that was shown to this poster.  Besides, she never said she spoke for everyone.
Well I guess you told me...

I was politely asking that you call us crooks and criminals on your board, where it will be better received and I was nice about it too.

As far as Foley goes, you will excuse me if I don't think running off to a secret rehab when you have been busted is an honorable thing to do. He got caught and he ran. Simple as that. Then blamed alchohol and a priest for his behavior. That doesn't fly with me. And he has not been convicted of anything, so I guess that makes it okay....neither have OJ or Robert Blake. They, let's see, how should I say it, got away with murder.  And, last but not least, are you not the one who posted awhile back quite a sermon on passing judgement. I seem to remember Bible quotes and all sorts of Christian-esque cliches   about judgement being God's to pass. Then, I hear McKinney is a joke, Jefferson is a bigger joke and Kennedy is the biggest joke of all. Yet they still get elected (by Democrats) which makes us all guilty of what...depraved indifference??? Judge not lest ye be judged. I believe you quoted that but here you are, on the liberal board, belittling Democrats, stating you don't care how we think or feel and that our Democratic senators are jokes. Not to mention how ridiculous it is to try to pin wrongdoing on one party, everyone included, you do it here on this board. All I asked was that you cease and desist with the mud. I do care what people think and feel and have tried to write respectfully keeping that in mind. It is not a bad practice and it is a practice, takes a looooong time to think before speaking or to filter through your heart first what comes out your mouth (or keyboard).

Truth be told

All stories, magazine articles, speeches are edited to reflect a point of view. That's the whole point (like inhaling). To condemn 60 Minutes which has been on for how many years and known as a vanguard of hard-hitting journalism as biased is facile.

That's fine if you want to be told
you aren't worthy of an MRI, right? Because it's too expensive?
I told someone to shut up

because for some people....they just cannot seem to post anything worthwhile.  All they do is repeat the same stuff and call people names.  If you have nothing of value to bring to the table....please feel free to shut your trap as well.  I know what our country is facing and I stand by my decision of picking John McCain.  I believe him, what he stands for, and what he says.  I do not believe Obama.  If you differ in that opinion....that is your God given right.  But bring something to the table other than insults.

He has told it like it is for many many years....
xx
You know, they should have told us this two weeks ago....sm
but I suppose it took that long for it to make sense to Bush (yes, and I did vote for him, bash away).

But someone, anyone....should have explained this before.

And I agree. They need to give us the entire details once they know them, so we know what's really going on, not just innuendo and fear tactics....from both sides, really.

They are going to need to explain more about the return on investment part of it in another article I read here the other day. If they play it right, there should be no raised taxes, and this will help the economy tremendously.
NO! that's what you're TOLD. s/m
Watch Lou Dobbs and tell me he's biased.  Give 'em all hell, Lou!.  If anything I think they're biased toward McCain, so there.
how would you know what i've been TOLD?
x
Hmmmmm...who was it told us to go
.
Wow. Guess nobody told them that
x
I told you it was a hoax!
The story made no sense from the very beginning. What is really amusing to me is how quickly the rabid right-wing posters jumped all over this story. Makes me wonder about their judgment and their ability to make an intelligent decision about voting.
the truth is not told
Just evasive answers
Did you believe everything Bush told you? n/m
xx
Well, they were told this would happen
There were MANY trying to yell this from the tops of their voices before Obama was elected. They did say he was adamant to get rid of "free speech"; after all, he certainly DOES NOT believe in our constitution, so why should that be a stretch.

He is already trying to pass a federal law prohibiting anyone from being able to have their own thoughts....

For instance, if a pastor refuses to marry a gay couple, his church will be targeted.

Already a photographer in Arizona refused to photograph a gay couple's wedding, stating he did not believe in those unions, and they took him to court. He has a PRIVATE business. He has every right to refuse. But no, the gays had to go and file papers against him. Just shows you what they are really all about. Nothing but hate!

The talk was already out there about Obama wanting to do away with conservative radio or TV, or for that matter, any religion that doesn't think his way... but no, so many fell for his crap hook, line, and sinker.

The inability to have free speech will only slap those in the face that love him when they can no longer disagree with ANYTHING their government does, which is our constitutional right.

You're right....they're going to get change like they've never seen before and most are so unintelligent or just so enamored with him, they don't even see it coming. Of course, most of them didn't pay any attention to who he really was before they voted for him either.
A doc told me that nicotine is more..
addicting than heroin. At this point, I can see why heroin addicts can't just "quit." I stopped trying to quit - just the thought gave me the jitters.
and at the same time, I am told...
that I should support whatever ridiculous thing Obama says or does. It is interesting, isn't it? I sure hope that it never comes down to the bunch of cowards living in this country to protect themselves, and, no, I am not talking of you personally. I have no idea whether or not you fall into that category.
I Told You It Was Coming
http://forum.mtstars.com/misc/v/11/52289.html
Well, i suppose you told me...
consider me properly chastised.
My mother always told me
Ignore them and they'll go away.
Our physicians are already being told --sm
what they can and cannot do for patient care, by the pharmaceuticals and insurance companies! They deny claims left and right to people younger than this on a daily basis. It's not just the gov't that patients have to worry about! We already pay month after month to big insurance companies (who need bail out money yet on top of it), and they tell US what we can and cannot have as far as medical care! I see no difference than gov't telling us what we can and can't have.
