Fair & balanced - they give both sides equal time

Posted By: icytoes on 2009-02-13
In Reply to: Fair and balanced....LOL (sm) - Just the big bad

They let both sides speak. They have equal guests meaning 2 pubs & 2 crats, or 1 pub and 1 crat. Unlike the other liberal stations who have 5 crats and 1 pub.

They tell the news like it is. There is more to Fox News than O'Reilly and Hannity. I'm watching Shepard Smith and others who are reporting news stories. These are the same news stories I see on other channels. They are fair because they give a chance for the opposing side to explain themselves and they are balanced because they have equal number of people. What liberals don't like is that the conservatives have anything to say at all. The liberals want to control the country (getting one heck of a start too), which would be an economic disaster to the country (thank you Pelosi with your pet pig projects you keep hiding in the stimulus and Reid for slipping in a pig project that does nothing for the rest of the country). The liberals are trying to shut down anyone with opposing viewpoints than theirs, and they are having their lawyers re-write the laws and change to consitution. - Not good for America. The only thing this stimulus plan is good for is to get people re-elected into their position. Congress does not give a hoot about America....

Pelosi: "Hurry fellas lets vote, I'm off to Rome". Hey there Pelosi, have a good trip, while we all wait for our pink slips and food stamps. Have yourself a great time at our expense.

I am a Fox fan, because I believe they are fair and they are balanced...
and I think they really did the right thing in this case. I hope nobody airs it. It will get ugly enough without that kind of thing floating around.
Yes fair and balanced. sm

I disagree - it is well known that they are extremely right-slanted.  Fair and balanced.  What a joke.  Why do you think people in the know refer to them as Faux or Fixed news - just a coincidence?

Chris Wallace's vicious sucker-punch attack on Bill Clinton (wherin Wallace got his rear end handed to him on a platter).

Fair and balanced....LOL (sm)
That must be why they tried to pass off that GOP press release like it was their own....complete with the same typos...
Truly Fair And Balanced
Something here for everyone.
Yep - looks fair and balanced - NOT

LOL. Yeah, and they claim to be fair and balanced. NM

Yeah. That fair and balanced claim
nm
Definitely more fair and balanced than the mainstream media...
surely you can admit that??
fair and balanced . . . fair and

balanced . . . we're looking out for YOU . . . we're looking out for the FOLKs . . . fair and balanced . . .

Excuse me, but during Clinton administration, we had a balanced budget for the first time in ......s
American history, plus a surplus. I am not saying that everything that Bill Clinton did was good, and keep in mind that you were living in one of the most expensive areas of the country (I used to be a Californian, San Francisco is outrageous), for most of us, there was relative prosperity and peace, even though the Terrorists were were already threatening, but that also went back to Daddy Bush's time. How anyone can think that things are better now, I can't imagine! I am happy for you if you feel you personally are better off, that is great, but area you even seeing the hundreds of thousands of Americans who are filing for unemployment, many for the first time in their lives? Every day more lay-offs and closings? Banking deregulation under the Republican adminstration killed this country in so many ways, not to mention trillions for a war where.....we accomplished what? Why can't the Iraqi people fight for their own independence and freedom, as we did, and as the French did? We got rid of Saddam, and yes he was evil, but Osams is still on the loose. Afghanistan I could see, to get that demon, but going into Iraq? That all came down to oil interestes, IMHO, and Halliburton made a bundle. IMHO
I'm willing to give the man a fair chance...

...the exact same way I gave George W. Bush a fair chance even though I didn't vote for him.  It was only after he was in office and I saw his contempt for the Constitution and for anyone who wasn't filthy rich that I formed my negative opinion of him.  It was his very own actions that formed that opinion, not partisan hearsay.

If this issue is legitimate, why in the world aren't Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham and/or any of the other right-wing media screaming it from the rooftops?

If this issue is legitimate, why in the world didn't Hillary Clinton or John McCain scream it from the rooftops?

The SC will meet this coming Friday, in private (five days before the EC votes) to discuss whether or not they will hear this case.

If the SC goes against the will of the people in this nation and selects the US President again, then the mayhem that will result will make it very easy for George W. Bush to declare martial law (to control the "masses") and officially promote himself to "Dictator in Chief" for an indefinite period of time.

Perhaps that's the true goal of all of this.

If somehow, the will of the people is upheld, we need to be a country of AMERICANS that bond together.  We are living in very dangerous  and challenging economic times right now.  This isn't Obama's fault.  It's the fault of George W. Bush and the crippled America that Obama will inherit from Bush.  Something tells me, though, that you'll find a way to blame Obama for the sins of Bush, regardless of what happens.

As for me, I'm sick of reading and responding to posts regarding this nonissue.  I'm more concerned with legitimate problems facing this country, as they are extremely serious, real and potentially life threatening.

Have at it all you want.  I won't be participating any more.  I want to be a part of the America that supports its President, especially in these emergent times, not the small, bitter minority that will never give Obama a chance.  He could wind up being the best President we've ever had, but sadly, some people will never even realize it.

Uh...that isn't what I said. I said it happens all the time and both sides do it.
Are you sure you read MY post?  Just wondering because it didn't sound like it from your response.  Man, you guys are trigger happy!
Happens all the time in politics, both sides do it, nothing new, move along.

Time for both sides to take the political blinders off????..............nm

time to grow up - both sides have said things they don't mean or regret or get twisted
There's a whole slew of things everyone has said that they wish they didn't and on important issues. One party is not free from that.

EVERYONE has faults. Whether your democrat OR republican, man OR woman, black OR white. They all have said things they don't mean or didn't come out right, or was totally twisted by the other side. Fact of life in politics.

If your going to go there be prepared to listen to all the things "your" candidate has said in the past. Then you'll whine when someone brings it out.
Time for all to be patriotic and fair and back the new president nm

no, he does not give them time to answer
I always like Chris Matthews, always have but today I found him in meltdown phase. He did not give the republican guest time to answer the question "Do you believe Barak Obama was calling Sarah Palin a pig". The guest got maybe 3 or 4 words out and mathews kept saying do you believe...., do you believe....the guest is trying to answer him which was "no I don't believe he called her a pig" and then went on to state how during these times the candidates need to be careful with their words, etc, etc. No, he was not as fair to the republican guest as he was to the democrat guest. If your a democrat sure you think this is great, but to the republicans and independents this is rude and unprofessional for the host of a talk show. What ever happened to letting a guest answer, if he didn't answer the question, then tell you you didn't not answer my question. Not keep interrupting him every 3 or 4 minutes with the same badgering. Come on - this is totally one sided.
BTW - the guest did answer his question about 4 or 5 times.
Give them time to adjust. They are
They have spent the last few years with one that apparently could only concern himself with one portion of the job description at a time. Let's have some compassion for them while they go through this difficult adjustment period.
He did give her time to answer, but

she just kept avoiding the question. I saw it this morning (they have re-runs at 5 a.m.).

I did think he was a little harsh on Helen Thomas even though she is a liberal.

Why don't you give your time & money to the
She's obviously living your idea of the Model Life.

What a fine, upstanding woman that Nadya is. She's a real beacon of inspiration to the rest of us to 'go forth and propagate.'

You people are too blinded by your own sense of self-worth to ever be of any worth to anybody else.

Get a job. Put a low-income student through college. Pay some single mother's rent or buy some groceries for her kids. Go help out in an underdeveloped (and over-populated) 3rd-world country. Read books other than the bible. You might actually learn something of value that can be put to use in the real world, not the fantasy-world you live in.

and balanced.......sm
as a matter of fact, he is terribly unbalanced or imbalanced...he wanted to blow up the Coit Towers in San Francisco last month.........or in November.  I hate him.
FOX makes no attempt to be balanced, they just SAY that
It's so obvious, my goodness.

whats fair is fair
Truth is, what is good for one is good for the other.  If Palin puts herself out there, she is a target.  But then so is Obama.  The problem is that when you say anything about O people go crazy.  When someone says something about Palin, its just true.
Two-way street not so equal?
Just my 2 cents... though it is definitely a 2-way street with both conservative and liberal radio talking heads (and others) make these comments about all kinds of stuff, including assassinations of either Bush or Obama... I do see a difference here - in that there are a large number of folks in this country who think Bush should be in prison, impeached, or at the very least, hasn't done our country a big favor with this war...with popularity at an all-time low... NOT that I'm saying he deserves to be assassinated, I'm not!!

But this talk of Obama being in danger - it is not because he has done something wrong, it is not because he is a hugely unpopular person (quite the contrary), and it is not because of his actions.... it is about the color of his skin. Racism. And, fear.

Thanks for listening to my 2 cents...
On the equal pay thing....
the women on McCain's campaign (and there are more women on his staff than on Obama's) make more money than the men do...and the women on Obama's campaign make less than the men do...would be nice if candidate practiced what he preached. Just sayin.
Equal percentage is right, I think....nm

Mainstream media are Bush apologists, hardly balanced.sm
We get Bush propaganda 24/7. They say the same thing over and over and over again until people believe it. At least Russians realized the stories Tass told them were stupid and censored. Here, if the government and news says its so, it must be gospel even if the stories can't possibly be true. They have you convinced it is patriotic to be a fascist and loyal to the state instead of to your fellow Americans. If there really is a liberal media out there, I sure wish they would speak up.
Thank you and I have equal respect for your decision. s/m
We can all only vote for what we hope (there's that word HOPE again) that we have made the right decision.  I do have FAITH in the American people that all of us will come together and take it in our hands to clean up this country at some point.  Neither candidate nor member of Congress is going to look out for "we the people" until we stand up on our hind legs and DEMAND it.  That is our right under the Constitution of the United States of American and I HOPE we will do it.  We did it on a small scale after 9/11.   I say "small scale" because while everyone came together, it didn't last long and we all went back to business as usual.  If the prediction of us being in such dire straits as we are "warned" about on a daily basis if Obama is elected, I think we ain't seen nothing yet as how the AMERICAN people will band together and DEMAND change.  However, if McCain gets in the White House, as I think he will, we'll continue right on down the garden path just as we have the last 8 years.  AND it won't surprise me if before this election is done  Bush declares martial law and then we are for sure in a fine fix.  Use your noggins for a change instead of just trying to get McCain elected, we ain't rid of George W. Bush YET.

Equal opportunity basher....... sm
I'm an Independent, and have been for years, because I don't uphold the Dem/Pub party process any more. It may have served a real purpose when it was initiated, but those times are long gone. My Daddy was a true-blue Democrat and it wasn't until his later years that he really began looking at the issues and the politicians as a whole rather than through the bipartisan microscope.

My opinion, now that the big event is behind us, is that everyone (at least the ones on this board) voted in their own conscience. Most of the posters here seem to have researched the issues and applied their own opinions as they felt led and I don't think anyone needs to be told "I told you so" or needs to rub in the fact that their man won. As Chele, I believe it was, pointed out, we (collectively speaking) have placed a man in office, and while the future ain't lookin' too rosey right now, we all need to pull together and get through whatever the fallout may be the best we can.

FWIW...I've never been happy with the "solution" to the Kennedy assasination either. I think it was poorly handled yet expertly covered up. Be that as it may, the person(s) that were really behind this have to deal with whatever recompense they have coming.

To paraphrase Hoover, "A crow in every pot and forget about the car!"

Equal rights to you people is when
you get YOUR way and to he!! with whatever majority group doesn't like it or doesn't believe in it.  That is your idea of equal rights.
Legality does not equal morality.
Many things in this country are legal that God would disapprove of. You cannot serve God and man. I wouldn't go so far as to call this murderer a doctor. Doctor's try to save lives. He was far from a doctor.
Great and balanced post, so very true, this crisis did not develop.....sm
overnight, and certainly will not be fixed in a short amount of time. And we are All going to have to work together and forget party lines, and forget about the blame, work on a long-term cure and get provisions in government so that this type of unobstructed GREED and thievery CANNOT happen again! Free enterprise yes, runaway deception, elitiism, and legalized loan-sharking and theft, no!!!! Thank you for posting, Z!
Accusation doesn't equal fact
anybody who has a beef against Bush could come out with this...doesn't make it true.
Equal opportunity for all Americans is not a new vision.
Get with the program.
This country needs more love and equal rights, and
It's just a catch-all name for people who feel they have the right to control other people's freedom to live their lives, even when it's none of their business.

Obama is a CHRISTIAN. He supports equal rights...sm
for all people including gay people. I think that the radical Christian right are the gay haters.
Hate speech is an equal opportunity killer.
neither can you.
Government grant does not equal 10 years on welfare
We are talking about those who make a job out of being on welfare.

Welfare in it's ideology was not a bad thing. It's a great concept. Unfortunately, it gets abused BIG TIME.

The concept for grants is that she will take this grant, go to school, in turn get a good job, pay taxes, and through those taxes the grant will be refunded.

What upsets me are the people who have six kids but refuse to get married because the girlfriend will lose the food stamps. Or the woman who lets her boyfriend and his buddies deal drugs out of their home for a cut of the money and they are living on our tax dollars selling those drugs to our children (well, your children, I don't have any yet, because we can't afford it!)

Eugenics and master plans.are equal opportunity
Its all about the source and what their driving agendas may be. Readers who believe in and promote master plan theories based on racial purity would be WAY gullible to be convinced of other conspiracy theories, no matter how idiotic the are. Those of us grounded in reality, not so much.

Scouring the net on the topics you named (especially govt takeovers) speaks for itself. If you cite sources from the whack world, don't expect to be taken too seriously.
Exactly....and that happens on both sides...
in all seriousness...without the jibes...I have two big issues with the Dem candidates, that being the abortion issue and the endless tax and spend for social programs. I am not against social programs, I am just against the waste associated with it and the constant assault on the paycheck. The average in the US is 30-35% of your paycheck off the top in taxes. Can't we all agree that is enough? Why create more programs or throw more money at programs that aren't working? Why not look at the programs and cut the waste. Look to helping people better themselves instead of pushing assistance higher up the income ladder. Because it is we in the middle class who suffer the most. Pretty soon there will not be any middle class at all, because they will then be the working poor on the assistance that goes higher up the ladder.

There is such a thing as a conservative Democrat...who believes in fiscal responsibility.

And I will be the first one to say that the Bush Adminstration has strayed way away from that...fiscal responsibility. While I agree with him on some things...I sure don't agree with him on that.

I fear Hillary's national health plan because I know Canada's is not working the way it should...and it is horribly expensive to the taxpayer. Up there, their median is 50-55% of their taxes off the top, and the #1 place for that money to go is the universal health care. And even if you have the money to pay for an operation, you can't jump the waiting list. Hence, they come here for it.

I would just hope that whoever wins will look at the long-reaching ramifications before just jumping in. Be that Hillary or a Republican....because I do think Hillary will get the nomination. I can't see it go any other way...unless something drastic happens between now and the primary. Of course, we won't see all the ugliness (on both sides) until a little later. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.
What do you have against 2 sides
su
Yes, they can be - on BOTH sides.
Someone makes a wise crack about it being nice to have someone with a triple digit IQ - when in FACT they don't know what Bush's IQ is OR the possible that Barack has a higher OR lower IQ score. The problem is the people who post don't know. They have just an outright hatred and loathing for the republicans. Well how would they feel if I went and said Obama has an IQ of 68 or something so absurd. They wouldn't. You know what, having a high IQ doesn't mean squat. I know a lot of people with degrees and high IQs and they are more of imbs than people without degrees. Just another put down for Bush they they think is cute and funny. It's not! We get it already. They don't like Bush, they hate him, and some of them like my MIL will come right out and say what they want to happen to Bush (i.e. the same thing Hillary said would happen to BO and that is why she is staying in).

I'm really getting tired of the utter hatred and disdain for Bush, and the constant Bush bashing I see on this board. Calling him stoopid, etc, etc. when there are no facts to back it up (unless they are sitting with his school transcipts on their desk). You know I like Obama. I think he's an okay guy. I don't care for Bush. Never have, but this utter hatred and lies get to be a bit too much. Then of course they find websites to try to "validate" what they are saying, yet they won't post websites that go against what they are saying. I'm just sick of the whole thing. The next 4 years should be interesting. Not going to say O is going to fail, but I'm also not putting him up on a pedistal and praising him while I dance around in circles chanting his name like most on this board are doing. Then again if he does fail I expect no comments from the libs on that one. For him it will be okay.
Is good, but not see here. Sad for all both sides.
