stock market
Everybody was playing on the fear factor. Panic sets in and everybody starts selling. According to what I have heard, there are now great stock buys and that is what they are seeing.

Everybody gets so wrapped up in this "sky is falling" mentality and that is what the government hopes.

All their little nay sayers trying to scare the sense out of everybody but what they are hearing from their constiuents say do NOT say yes to the bill. The people do not believe that everything is going to h@ll in a hand basket if they vote NO to the bill.

I'm sure a lot more votes would have been yes yesterday if it had not been for their constituents faxing, calling, and e-mailing telling them they oppose such bailout.
Well here we go. Stock market -411.30 plus

Barney Fife writing proposal now to bail out the automakers with $25B stipulating GOVERNMENT OWNERSHIP.

The government is backing away from buying troubled mortgages and now are going to put it in an investment program taking capital. The facts changed.  His approach is to give banks enough cash to keep homes on the books and keep cash in the banks.

They will not bail out those people who shouldn't have taken out the loans in the first place.

American Express is jumping on the bailout wagon requesting $3.5B.

They really opened a can of worms here.

So the stock market's down.... sm
How bad is it?  According to the article linked below...........

With Thursday’s rout, $8.3 trillion in stock market wealth has been erased in the last 13 months.

For more info......  http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/21/business/21markets.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1
So what!!!! Where were you when the stock market went down
Haven't you learned your lesson yet. You only comment on a good day and remain silent with the rest of the crats on a bad day.

How many people on this board have been telling you to quit commenting every time the market hiccups. But you feel this need to only comment when it goes up.

Your post is not worth the time reading.
Hm-m-m. Anybody notice the stock market is up, and

financial gained 16% today. That's curious. Can someone explain why?

I just think it's because the stocks were so low yesterday that it was a buyer's market.

The stock market went from +250 to -150 after the vote. nm
.
Have you noticed how the stock market goes up
or how the media has been fueling that engine by pushing and pushing and obsessing over the cabinet appointments in search of dirt to dig up on them?

Obama has been trying to give voters a little reassurance, but I supposed lots of folks will find something wrong with that too.
The stock market will never, ever, see another dime of

Bush is NOT in charge of the stock market

Wall Street,. Nancy Pelosi, Barney Fife, and the others are making it worse with all their stupid ideas.

They WANT this to happen and give more stimulus checks to people so the people will think they are the greatest since apple pie.

I don't see any of them trying to figure out what to do that will help us except throw money away to the groups that are keeping the money to pay their bonuses and take trips.

who cares about the stock market anymore? it's
my stock-based 401K is all but gone, and even if i had the money next year, or ever, not a cent of it will ever go back into the stock market's house of cards. so i personally dont give a rip what happens to it from here on out.
And the stock market LOVES it while Boy Wonder flits around!
//
Stock Market diving since Obama spoke today.

McCain has fogotten the stock market crash, mortgage/credit crisis,
unemployment rates, job losses, stagnant wages, rising prices in gas, food, health care, etc, etc, etc.
I guess I didn't take B's post that way. SM
I use God as a comparison when I am really trying to make a point. I think that is what was going on, but only B can answer that.  At any rate, I agree with B.
I guess you didn't pay attention....(sm)

when it came to direct quotes and video footage of Bush.  In other words, Bush has video out there that directly contradicts what he is saying now in his exit interviews.  For example, he is saying now that if he had known that the intelligence about WMDs was incorrect he would not have gone into Iraq.  Previously he had said that it didn't matter that there were no WMDs, he would have gone ahead and invaded Iraq anyway---which he did.  Exactly how much more proof do you need?

Guess you didn't see the post I did below

showing that Bush tried to regulate the industry as far back as 2001, but the dems would have none of it....those most opposed were all on the "take"; i.e., getting thousands of dollars in contributions from FM/FM.....or don't you believe it even when it comes from their own mouths?

Open your eyes and listen, or do you need a hearing test?

Gee....I guess I didn't realize

we wanted him to run our country further into the ground, spend a record amount of money, and turn our country into a socialist country.  I mean....if we are dumb enough to really want that.....yes....Barry is doing an absolutely wonderful job!!!

Guess you didn't notice all the times he...
disagreed with Bush? No, of course not....
Guess you didn't read this part . . .
From Wall Street Journal and other sites:

"At 8:30 this morning, Senator Obama called Senator McCain to ask him if he would join in issuing a joint statement outlining their shared principles and conditions for the Treasury proposal and urging Congress and the White House to act in a bipartisan manner to pass such a proposal," Mr. Burton said in an email to reporters. "At 2:30 this afternoon, Senator McCain returned Senator Obama's call and agreed to join him in issuing such a statement. The two campaigns are currently working together on the details."

McCain released statement minutes after responding to Obama.
Ummm...guess you didn't see the apology below....
I had not read through all the threads yet. You took exception to McCain but it looks like you and I have a bit of a hair trigger ourselves....eh?

I am not hung up on Sarah Palin. I do like her. I think she is the most genuine of the 4. I think that is the way she talks in her everyday life, and doesn't bother to window dress and act like something she isn't. And how she expresses herself has nothing to do with intelligence or the lack thereof.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it (there is a folksy one for ya...lol).

This is my favorite, I use it all the time, and I could apply it to the big O's explanation of his association with Ayers:

Barack, sweetie, that dog don't hunt. lol.

Guess he didn't have room for his beloved pie.

LOVE this shot of him. A man, alone with his pie.
I guess we didn't know it was a joke...if you go back and read (sm)
you said you have a very strong opinion and you keep it to yourself...which sounded like you were saying that is what we should all be doing too. But the point in response to you was that the board is for political opinions to be expressed and if it bothers anyone, they don't have to come on here. I am sorry you got your feelings hurt though. I am sure it was just a communication problem.
Guess you didn't read the post I made from a few days ago.

Sorry, but I haven't been able to post lately due to some problems, but the FOIA report I posted and said to pay attention to certain pages....Clinton KNEW there were WMD's in Irag in 1996! Did he do anything? Nope. He left the country he was visiting right before a bombing; i.e., he knew it was going to happen. The jist I got of the report was that he knew and did nothing.

Did you read that report?  Don't want to dredge up old presidents but you seem to do it every chance you get, so I just have to respond to that. Bush also knew but did nothing because the CIA,DOJ, FBI and whatever other departments were to keep him informed but never worked together on anything so he got conflicting reports all the time. Was he a mind reader? Doubt it or 911 would not have happened.

Sorry, but this post does not hold water IMHO.

Rally
Why is it when someone tells you that you would rather go to a campaign and hear the issues, and what the candidates plan for the future of the country, that we are spewing hatred, fear and smear tactics. That is absolutely ludicrous what you have said, and you really need to watch what you say. I was saying that I personally want to go and hear the candidates tell me what they are going to do to help this country. I don't need a rock concert to "fog the issues." A brilliant campaign? A brilliant campaign of hope because he had Bruce S. A brilliant campaign because he has a free rock concert to get you there? I guess my values are totally different, but I never said anything in hatred. Why is it when truths are pointed out to you that you don't want to hear it, and discount it because you don't agree? I have been through many things and have seen a lot. Don't cry to anyone when you cannot afford your utilities, get a loan or anything because you did not want to have your life bubble burst. Just thoughts on the matter. You are the only one who can make yourself happy NOT anyone else. Just think about it that is all. I wish you no ill will nor your candidate. I just think I have a right to my opinon, but then I guess I don't because you might get offended.
Yes, if you look at the pictures of the rally.....
that sign WAS pretty prominent...along with others with various other epithets. What, pray tell, does that have to do with a *peace* rally? What does vandalizing govt property have to do with a *peace* rally? In my opinion, it seriously undermines the credibility of said *peace* rally.
Palin rally in PA
Palin is speaking in Latrobe, PA.  She is being heckled from the audience...people yelling "You are an a**hole."  Her kids are there on stage in their costumes for goodness sakes!
Great Rally
I was a great rally in Canton, Ohio ... Sarah and Todd Palen. They did not have Bruce Springsteen (thank goodness). They don't need hipe to tell people what the country knows we need. They don't have to "entertain people" to get them to vote for the right person for the highest job in the land.
A candidate that knows how to rally? I don't want a candidate to rally!!!!! I want a candidate to speak of the things they stand for, and their values, and what they plan to do in the White House. If I cannot "rally" in my own heart, and my own values, then no one can do that for me...

A great rally is one that starts at home, and shows up in our lives and the way we vote. Not a place where all you hear is guitars and sound machines. Too bad they have have to go to extremes like that to "tease people" into voting for them.

chicago rally
Maybe Oprah will show up.
he was *detained* during a protest rally...
for the moment - but they have been after Gary for decades - I recently saw him on Bill Maher explaining it all....GREAT GUY by the way, Gary....
After seeing that McCain rally yesterday I am...sm
beginning to get very worried that there may be retaliation in some way. Those people were over the top!
I don't hear anyone at an Obama rally saying ...sm
John McCain is a traitor and that he should be killed. This is very scary to most Americans that hear it, very radical to wish a presidential candidate dead! Neither one blinked an eye when supporters shouted these things out.
Did you see the big rally against Palin in Alaska? sm

very much under investigation. By the way, did you forget to post the link? I don't see it here.
U.S. Troops Secured Baghdad Rally for Hezbollah...sm
So our troops are in Iraq securing an anti-American rally. Can someone shed some logic on this whole thing?

------------------------------------------------
U.S. Troops Secured Baghdad Rally for Hezbollah

U.S. troops provided some of the security for the rally in Baghdad today where thousands of Iraqi Shiites demonstrated for Hezbollah:

Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr summoned his followers around the country to attend a mass rally today in the city's Sadr City district in support of the Shiite militants of Hezbollah battling Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

Iraqi government television said the Defense Ministry had approved the demonstration, a sign of the public anger over Israel's offensive in Lebanon and of al-Sadr's stature as a major player in Iraqi politics.

Crowds of young men began arriving in eastern Baghdad's Sadr City late Thursday and were housed in mosques and Shiite community centers. U.S. Army vehicles guarded approaches to the slum to prevent clashes between Shiite and Sunni extremists.

Dressed in white shrouds to indicate their willingness to die for the cause, demonstrators waved Hezbollah flags and chanted death to Israel and death to America:

I consider my participation in this rally a religious duty. I am proud to join this crowd and I am ready to die for the sake of Lebanon, said Khazim al-Ibadi, 40, a government employee from Hillah.

Al-Sadr followers painted U.S. and Israeli flags on the main road leading to the rally site, and demonstrators stepped on them with relish. Alongside the painted flags was written: These are the terrorists.

So the U.S. is simultaneously supplying bombs to Israel for use against Hezbollah; encouraging a ceasefire to stop the bombing; working with Sunni Arab states who fear a Shiite alliance across Iran, Iraq and Lebanon; propping up a Shiite-dominated Iraqi government; and protecting Iraqis eager to join Hezbollah and wipe Israel off the map.

No matter which side you've taken in the Middle East, America is on your side.
You go girl - 60,000 people attend her rally in Florida

Not bad for a town whose population is 70,000 people.

From innocent pub plant in a rally to podium sidekick
put himself out there. For some, Joe is the everyman's man...for other's, the everyman's sham, and the spectator's seem to be fairly equally splint on that impression of him. No sympathy for the plant. Beating your gms and getting all exercised over this is a waste of time and isn't going to clean up the mess McC made with Joe the unlicensed. BTW, when getting all outraged over Joe's invasion of privacy, let's don't forget McCain's hand in that one, OK?
Stupid is planting a question at a rally designed
believing that the transparency of it all would escape the notice of the nation's voters. This is a classic case of McCain and his supporters underestimating the intelligence of te electorate they are so diligently trying to capture.
Not sure I'd put much stock in

a not-very-scientific poll of under-18s.  I imagine they think it's...like... totally way-cool to be a hyphenated-American, whether they actually are, or not.  African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic-American,  Native-American, Vulcan-American..ya' know?  What ever....

Back in the ླྀ's a friend of mine spent one summer with a mission group on an Indian reservation, and thereafter tried to pass herself off as full-blooded Sioux (which is unlikely when you're a blonde.)  It was just more interesting than being a white chick.

And why don't Caucasians get to use the hyphen?  Hardly anybody claims to be Irish-American, German-American, French-American, British-American (that sounds weird).

Maybe we should march and demand our rights.  Two!  Four!  Six!  Eight!  We wanna hyphenate!   Whitebread!  Whitebread!  Yeaaaaah!

Honey, a plant in the RALLY to yell those alleged things...nm
//
Like your no-class group that shouted "Kill Him" regarding O at a GOP rally? With Palin? or
don't you remember that? Bunch of hypocrites - you guys dish it but you sure don't like to take it.
I just spun the news channels and oops, what happened with the rally?
Started out on MSNBC and that was showing DNC pressures Norm Coleman , CNN showing ASU official stating "We Blew it", Prime News is showing about an 11 year old that committed suicide, so only on Fox actually now at 5:43 EST that is exactly what is on. My news channels here in Atlanta only showed probably about 5 minutes and then went on to important news.
I don't put much stock in polls....
however, McCain is the first to break the 50% mark. And I trust Gallup and rasmussen more than I trust Fox polls, CNN polls or other media outlet polls. Although CBS did show McCain with a lead too. Still, it is encouraging, and a pretty big whoop...lol

Citi Execs Make Killing On Stock Surge

Posted by Daniel Carty

Citigroup's recent upbeat news about its profitability has driven Wall Street's surge this week, but it also generated $2.2 million for four executives who bought millions of shares of company stock nine days ago, reports Bloomberg.

According to regulatory filings, director Roberto Hernandez bought 6 million shares on March 2 for an average price of $1.25. The stock touched a record low of $0.97 on March 5, but five days later CEO Vikram Pandit issued an internal memo saying the bank turned a profit over the first two months of the year. That news drove Citi shares up 47 percent to its Thursday close of $1.52, giving Hernandez a $1.7 million profit on paper, reports the news agency.

"You’re supposed to buy when everyone else is selling,” Bruce Foerster, a former Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. managing director who now runs South Beach Capital Markets in Miami, told Bloomberg. He said banks have internal monitoring systems to keep an eye on executive trades and prevent abuses.

Other executives include Latin America CEO Manuel Medina-Mora, who bought 1.5 million shares on March 3 at an average price of $1.24, Vice Chairman Lewis Kaden with 100,000 shares and controller John Gerspach with 65,000, reports Bloomberg.

In the last year, Citi's stock value has plummeted 95 percent as the company has suffered five straight quarters of losses.

Hernandez said he plans to step down from Citi's board after the bank's annual meeting in April but will keep his non-executive chairmanship of the company's Mexican bank, Banamex, reports Bloomberg.

Where women are little more than breeding stock???
If some women were a little more discerning about who they slept with and a little more careful about taking precautions, we would not have to fix 2000+ "oopses" in a day. So go right ahead...fund irresponsibility, infanticide, and baby killing. Knock yourself out. Make planned parenthood richer. don't you think there is something sick about making a profit from killing babies??
Stock up on blankets and firewood...... sm
It's gonna be a looooong hard winter.

I'm thankful that I do have fireplace and I know how to cook on an open fire if I need to. I have 2 redneck sons who can go shoot us some vittles, that is until the gun police come and confiscate them. I really feel for those folks in the cities who have no alternative but electric heat and what they can cook on their electric stove.
Maybe you shouldn't put too much stock in left-

leaning polling companies, Mrs.  The fact, Obamanation's poll numbers are dropping and dramatically.  However, I don't think he cares a fig.  His real agenda is to destroy the economy, and when anarchy comes and his mask removed, he'll institute marshal law, and set himself up as dictator.  That's his plan and those who pull his marionette strings.  He is tooooooooooooo stoooooooooopid to do it on his own.  That's what he has surrounded himself with left-wing America hating "experts."  You'll be singing a different tune before long.

that's your problem. You put too much stock in a book written
Why do people say no flames please when they make inflamatory statements? You must like the attention.
Don't forget to stock up on those tin foil hats!

Excuse me? Sorry, I was diversifying my stock portfolio
don't care about the debate - just stated my opinion. And, yes, I like sitting on my butt and making money = "open your own company." Mmmm hmmm. Works like a charm, eh?
huh, what does that have to do with the market
going down while the O's been in office.

Your attempt at a joke is lame.
