in terms of my own beliefs. Others' are not my concern, but they become my concern when someone tries to impose them on me. It's disrespectful & arrogant.

If you have a valid political argument, by all means, share it. But don't presume that I "need" your religion just because our philosophies differ. I get tired of this, & I get tired of being told what "God says" as a justification for right-wing political platforms. I was registered as a Republican not so very long ago, at which time I thought all the things about religion that I think now, & I believe in the separation of church & state, MOST especially during political discourse.
