And, where's the WMD that they believed in...sm
which the chief UN inspector urged more time before a preemptive war because he could not find any. Indeed the inspections had been working, indeed the Clinton bombings had been working, indeed America invaded Iraq to get rid of Saddam and throw that country into a civil war that could prove to have further destabilized the region instead of add stability.

Did we believe there was WMD? I didn't.

Do we believe that the war in Iraq is making America safe? I don't.
I never believed he was there to begin with - nm

Sure he did. But it'll never be believed by you. But I'd believe my husband before I would
He lies every day, but no one will call him on it.

No one is allowed to criticize. Ever. Or point out flaws. Ever. Or point out inconsistencies. Ever.

You get my drift, I'm sure, so why bother trying to give you a real source in your eyes? You'll just blast it down, as you've done me.

Case in point....anyone opposing any of you Obama people on this board.

What a sad state of affairs.
Pat Tillman: Believed War on Iraq Was Ilegal

Pat Tillman, Our Hero

by DAVE ZIRIN

[from the October 24, 2005 issue]

I don't believe it, seethed Ann Coulter.

Her contempt was directed at a September 25 San Francisco Chronicle story reporting that former NFL star and Army Ranger war hero Pat Tillman, who was killed in Afghanistan last year, believed the US war on Iraq was f***ing illegal and counted Noam Chomsky among his favorite authors. It must have been quite a moment for Coulter, who upon Tillman's death described him in her inimitably creepy fashion as an American original--virtuous, pure and masculine like only an American male can be. She tried to discredit the story as San Francisco agitprop, but this approach ran into a slight problem: The article's source was Pat Tillman's mother, Mary.

Mary and the Tillman family are relentlessly pushing for answers to the questions surrounding Pat's death in Afghanistan. They want to know why it took the Pentagon five weeks to tell them he died in a tragic case of friendly fire. They want to know why they were unwitting props at Pat's funeral, weeping while lies were told by eulogizing politicians. Mary is now hoping that a new Pentagon inquiry will bring closure. There have been so many discrepancies so far that it's hard to know what to believe, she said to the Chronicle. There are too many murky details.

The very private Tillmans have revealed a picture of Pat profoundly at odds with the GI Joe image created by Pentagon spinmeisters and their media stenographers. As the Chronicle put it, family and friends are now unveiling a side of Pat Tillman not widely known--a fiercely independent thinker who enlisted, fought and died in service to his country yet was critical of President Bush and opposed the war in Iraq, where he served a tour of duty. He was an avid reader whose interests ranged from history books...to works of leftist Noam Chomsky, a favorite author. Tillman had very unembedded feelings about the Iraq War. His close friend Army Spec. Russell Baer remembered, I can see it like a movie screen. We were outside of [an Iraqi city] watching as bombs were dropping on the town.... We were talking. And Pat said, 'You know, this war is so f***ing illegal.' And we all said, 'Yeah.' That's who he was. He totally was against Bush. With these revelations, Pat Tillman the PR icon joins WMD and Al Qaeda connections on the heap of lies used to sell the Iraq War.

Tillman's transition from one-dimensional caricature to critically thinking human being is a long time coming. The fact is that in death he was far more useful to the armchair warriors than he had ever been in life. When the Pro Bowler joined the Army Rangers, the Pentagon brass needed a loofah to wipe their drool: He was white, handsome and played in the NFL. For a chicken-hawk Administration led by a President who loves the affectations of machismo but runs from protesting military moms, this testosterone cocktail was impossible to resist. The problem was that Tillman wouldn't play their game. To the Pentagon's chagrin, he turned down numerous offers to be its recruitment poster child.

But when Tillman fell in Afghanistan the wheels once again started to turn. Now the narrative was perfect: War hero and football star dies fighting terror. The Abu Ghraib scandal was about to hit the press, so the President found it especially useful to praise Tillman as an inspiration on and off the football field, as with all who made the ultimate sacrifice in the war on terror. His funeral was nationally televised. Bush even went back to the bloody well during the presidential campaign, addressing his team's fans on the Arizona Cardinals' stadium Jumbotron.

We now know, of course, that this was all a brutal charade. Such callous manipulation is fueling the Tillman family's anger. As Mary Tillman said this past May, They could have told us up front that they were suspicious that [his death] was a fratricide, but they didn't. They wanted to use him for their purposes.... They needed something that looked good, and it was appalling that they would use him like that. A growing number of military families, similarly angered, are criticizing the war in Iraq through organizations like Military Families Speak Out.

As for Chomsky, whom Ann Coulter would undoubtedly label treasonous, Mary Tillman says a private meeting was planned between him and Pat after Pat's return--a meeting that never took place, of course. Chomsky confirms this scenario. This was the real Pat Tillman: someone who, like the majority of this country, was doubting the rationale for war, distrusting his Commander in Chief and looking for answers. The real Pat Tillman, the one with three dimensions, must stick in the throat of the Bush-Coulter gang, a pit in the cherry atop their bloody sundae.

If a doctor truly believed his hippocratic oath he would not be...
killing babies for ANY reason other than to save the life of the mother.
Poster below believed this to be a false statement
xx
I didn't say I believed it, just posted an article
I wouldn't be too quick to put words in someones mouth just for the sake of mocking them. I never said I believed it. I know it happened in Nazi Germany (holocaust). I only posted the article because when I started searching on welfare, government takeovers, and other topics, that topic kept popping up.

Do I believe it could happen. Not really. Just thought it was interesting. So,...all I said I believed was the plan to put the country on welfare. If you want to mock me for something at least mock me for what I said.
Bill Clinton believed it, so did Hillary and so did John Kerry.
So did a great many in the congress else they would not have said so! How is it possible that you have such selective memory?  I wish I could do that.
that is what I never understood especially 8 years ago...
the people vote, but rather than what the majority wants there are those who will force themselves as leaders (Bush, remember that entire fiasco?, taking it to the courts and becoming president in an underhanded way) - and then he totally runs this country by his will only, selfishly just everything that he wanted, runs it into the ground, dividing this nation wider than ever in history (perhaps to the point of north/south days), and here is someone else next in line for the same thing? Someone who thinks he is owed the presidency simply because he wants it - not at all caring what the needs for the country are.

Politicians are SERVANTS, they are supposed to serve us, NOT the other way around. How does this keep happening that we are becoming subservient as our rights more and more are being swallowed up by these men (and now woman) who think we are here just for their benefit to live off.

We need some humanity and someone humble in the white house, that is what appeals to me so far about Obama. Say what you will but he is a servant for the people, I actually do believe that he will look after those less fortunate and I would rather him watch my back in a dark alley -
(long) I have never understood...
...how women have been misled into believing this is a "women's issue." This is a HUMAN RIGHTS issue...no pregnant woman I have ever heard of has ever had anything other than a HUMAN BABY at the conclusion of a pregnancy. That is the end result of a pregnancy, and there is no other conclusion EVER, unless a pregnancy is terminated either voluntarily or spontaneously. Human beings have rights under the Constitution of the United States...the right to LIFE, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Sort of difficult to get the last two if you are deprived of the first one. This country has laws to protect people from being murdered, from having their lives taken from them by another person. I have never understood why babies (and you can call them fetus, fetal tissue, "product" of a pregnancy, whatever you like, but women are pregnant with BABIES) would not have the same right to live as any other human being. There are important issues that women should be fighting for. The right to equal pay for equal work, the right to be treated as equals with regards to credit and housing and financial situations, the right for protection from domestic violence situations, healthy issues, other social issues. THE RIGHT TO KILL YOUR OWN CHILD SHOULD NOT BE A RIGHT WE ARE FIGHTING FOR. Women should stand together and fight for a common goal. This should NOT be that goal.
I never understood the whole thing
I never actually thought Joe was a plumber. Thought that was just an analogy. All I remember is he asked a legitimate question that all of us wanted to know and Obama stumbled on it realizing afterward that what he said didn't sound too good. Then I hear that he's being investigated and harassed all because he asked a question. I think the opposition using the excuse that he was a "plant" was a bunch of hoo-ah because they had "plants" in the McCain camp. But to have your life destroyed because of this???? I hope Joe wins big time.
I heard EXACTLY what she said and understood her
ZZ
His comments were very clearly understood....can you
nm
Yes, i read, and if I understood you correctly...
CNN was circumventing Obama, which is not surprising, because while they do have a liberal bias, they also have a very CLINTON bias. I was just pointing out that they are not a bastion of integrity.
I understood Obama's plans
thus my message below. I was simply responding the the wish for socialized medicine that equals that of the wonderful place we call Iraq!
Sarah is not a hypocrite....and if you understood...
socialism you would see the gaping difference. Every person in Alaska gets a check. Including the rich. Alaska is not taxing some citizens at a higher rate to redistribute their wealth to less wealthy Alaskans, even some who do not even pay taxes.

Big difference.

Share the wealth can mean a lot of things. Obama was very clear with Joe the Plumber. He wants to redistribute Joe the Plumber's wealth to other people. He said so. Not eVERY person in America. Just the "people below Joe." THAT is socialism.

See the difference?
I understood you perfectly....pull out the military....
and what little stability there is will be gone. I cannot see it going any other way. What exactly do you see happening if we pull the military out? Seriously. What will the insurgents do? What will the sunni and shiite militias do? I am serious...what do you think would happen?
My comment was directed at "me" and she understood me...sm
I was hoping everyone would come together, no matter who wins, echoing her thoughts. She understood what I meant.

No offense intended.
I understood perfectly well how you meant your post..nm

If you watched the actual show you might have understood it
Glenn Beck actually cares about what is going on in this country. He is giving the everyday American a chance to let our voices be heard.

If you go to his website (which I'm sure you wouldn't do) he talks about "Project 9.12". He talks about the 9 principles and 12 values. He's allowing people like you and me a chance to let our voices be heard. The country is going down a dark hole and if it doesn't get fixed we will never see the light again (AIG is just one of the many things that will bring it down).

Unlike whiny Olberlame or Mathpukes. Those two make my skin crawl. I can take Rachel Maddow to a certain extent but then she gets on her whiny role too. Your viewpoint of any other news station other than My Socialist News Butt Channel (MSNBC) is so pathetic in it's writing. If your going to go down the road of blatant money-grubbing, media hogs who pray on the pathetic then you are talking about the liberal media stations. Talk about praying on the pathetic ignor@nt. You want to see hate-spewing turn on the MSNBC crowd. When things don't go their way it's like watching a bunch of rabid dogs foaming at the mouth attaching anyone who doesn't agree with them.

Maybe it would be good to actually watch the Beck show before commenting on it because then you would at least might remotely possibly know what your talking about. Otherwise it looks like another agent of MSNBC is filtering on this board.

I guess you think that having people who are liberal on as guests and treating them with respect, letting them speak what's on their mind and saying. "Okay, I'll give you that. I may not agree with you, but your entitled to your opinions" I guess you consider that hateful spewing??? I don't get it. You go to MSNBC (watched that station through the Bush years because my viewpoints were more aligned with theirs), but after awhile you just gotta step back and say wait a minute, that's not fair no matter whether I don't like the other side or not. There is a time when you have to start thinking for yourself. Fox channel does that. They present issues and don't tell you how you should be thinking. They let you decide for yourself. They give both sides an equal chance. But if your one of those liberal loving all democrats do nothing wrong and all republicans do nothing right, and you only get your news from the liberal stations, then yes, what you wrote is true about the "pathetic uneducated half-wits that hang on every word of their hateful spewing garbage" by Mathpukes and Olberlame and the likes of that station.

In case you don't know, America is waking up and turning to Fox and turning off MSNBC, CNN and others because we want to hear the truth. Not the mean-spiritic spew that comes from those stations.

BTW - Fox has 1,217,000 viewers compared to the socialist MSNBC station of 480,000 and Communist News Network of 633,000. That's more than twice as many people. At least I feel like I'm in good company.
I understood her post perfectly - 4 years in 4 minutes
What part of that don't you understand. Pretty simple to figure out.
You cannot type it word for word, just provide a link.
.
I remember the debate. And of course this is not word for word, I NEVER said...sm
*because I'm not.* This is a LIE that I got tired of arguing with them about then. Unless you are confusing me with an old poster that went under the moniker Demo.
Sambo thinks last word=best word...

yep. Its Fox. Just googled it. word for word. nm

Not one word. One defitinion of a word.
Cult: 1. A system of religious worship or ritual.

Or how about this:

Cult: A system or community of religious worship and ritual.

Or my personal favorite:

Cult: A self-identified group of people who share a narrowly defined interest or perspective.

At least he's using the O word
He's at least a little closer to the actual truth this time.  How come no one important seems to care about all these changes in reasoning?  Does anyone notice???   (Except us?)
There's that word again.

.

With or without the *word*

I agree with the post.  Thanks for posting it.  I'm sorry this entire thread has been invaded by those who are only here to attack.  They are showing their true colores, though.  They want to control what eveyone reads, sees, speaks, thinks and which God they believe in.  These boards are only a microcosm of the country, and they are quite representative of their party.  The more they reveal their controlling selves here and places like this, hopefully, the more people will see it for what it is and finally feel they've had ENOUGH!  For that reason, I personally hope they keep it up.

When is the key word.

And when will it be?  Bush has already admitted that solving this quagmire will be the responsibility of a future President.  If we *stay the course,* any terrorist or insurgent would then be given a free pass to kill our American soldiers (brutally, like they did this morning) while these soldiers are trying to fight for the Iraqis.  They scream and yell against amnesty for illegals who want to come here to work, but they're in favor of it if it involves our troops being killed.

HOW TWISTED IS THAT?!!

I'm grateful the majority of these Senators showed support for our troops and respect for their lives.

I have one word. sm
Bull.
N-Word

Regarding the definition you posted:   “deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense,”  I submit the following:

I think there is much ado about nothing here.  Does anyone say the "C-word" when blacks refer to whites as "crackers?"  I don't even bother finding that offensive.  Again, political correctness.  Such as one time I received an email saying "black" was ALWAYS capitalized but "white" was never capitalized.   Fine with me.  So if "black" is capitalized why is "white" never capitalized???  Black and white are colors, why should either be capitalized?  Which, by the way is what the next QA person informed me of, as if I didn't already know that.

I have used the infamous "N-word" but never in connection with the color of a person's skin. I used the term exactly as described by Mr. Webster.  Most usually I have used it to describe what we Caucasians would call "white trash" or people who have 50 cars up on jacks in their front yards.  I grew up in a community where there were no blacks so I certainly grew up with no predjudice and I still have no predjudice.  Black or white we are all God's children and one is no better, or worse, than the other.  Not meant to be off topic, just to say that in my opinion, Obama should not be viewed as being "black" or "white."  He should be judged based on his own merits, or lack thereof, as a human being.  While I don't support him, I am probably less critical of him than I am of McCain.

but not without the last word, right? YOU...
are the one keeping the thread alive...can't resist that one more little twist of the knife. Grownup? I don't think so. Mob mentality? You bet. That has been well demonstrated here. Only thing missing is the pitchforks, torches and castle bridge. LOL. Sheesh.
Word up

Twelve more people dispatched by McCain to Alaska to further vet Palin (AFTER she was announced).  Things not looking good.  Speculation is that her name will be withdrawn.  No communists are involved in the vetting.

In a word...Always. That is if you believe
nm
key word here is

SOME people are worth defending . . . (not all) Katrina deja vu.  The true conservative mind unmasked.  Thanks for the insight.

Well...but it is the last word.
nm
So, does anyone believe a word of

banks & the stock market?  Instead of giving $700B to them, maybe some of it should go to helping Galveston & New Orleans.

The average Joe is gonna take a hit in this, either way.  And, that being the case, I'd feel a lot better about all of us kissing our retirement goodbye, and most likely spending our old age on the government dole, if all those greedy fat-cats went down the toilet with us.

to last word sam - where did I say

I simply answered as to where they were when the vote was being taken.

You'd make a good politician with your constant need to always have the last word and manipulating every post you read.

In a word, yes.
It is apparent that the sanctions have not had the desired result as was their original intent. In fact, typically economic sanctions DO only end up hurting the populations of countries with dictatorial leadership...people who have little or no power affect change.

Another side to this coin would be the need for an attitude adjustment on the part of the US. I am referring to the notion that the US should be "toppling" the Castro brothers or any other regime not to our liking. Preserving our national security is a legitimate concern. Fomenting violent overthrow, bankrolling coupe d'tats, installing puppet governments that that carry out the shots we call....NOT. We are not in charge of the world and need to evolve into relationships based on peaceful coexistence, period.
How can anyone believe a word the man says....
why, how silly of me. Because they have walked the yellow brick road to the great and powerful "O." He counts on it.
I know the word has been used a lot but...that's SAD.
nm
In a word.......... sm
No. The middle class seems to be shrinking every day, and it does not appear to be migrating north into the rich class either. Like you, I am concerned for our future and whether I will even have a home this time next year.

Please don't take this as a Christian "rant" but last night during my prayers, I literally cried because I fear for the world that my sons will be going out into very soon. Their generation is going to have a very rocky start, much more so than we did and certainly much more than our parents did. I am also very concerned for my mother and all elderly people like her. Will she be able to continue buying her medication, even with Medicare and supplement insurance? This month, she fell in the donut hole and had to pay for part of her medications from her own pocket to the tune of some $400. Her monthly income is only just over $900.

I'm currently paying 11.75% on my home mortgage because it was taken out when interest rates were quite high and my credit is less than stellar. I have asked numerous times, in light of reduced interest rates, for it to be dropped, but the company is not willing to do that. I've been paying on it for 12 years now and I think I might own the back door.

I still hope and pray that our nation can turn around and get back on the road to prosperity for all, but I think about the Great Depression and what it took for this nation to right itself and experience prosperity once again. I don't think I am ready for another World War to happen in order for that to take place.

Everyone is in a tight place now. Even the rich are beginning to "suffer," although I have little to no pity for them as their suffering, while it does impair their lifestyles, is nothing compared to what is going on with the rest of the nation.

Sorry to be a downer this morning, but it's time we "prepare for the worst and hope for the best." It's going to be a long, hard haul back to the top.....if we ever make it.
In a word, no.
Republicans who constantly try to impede the President-Elect and his administration in their attempts to tackle the the wasteland that W is leaving in his dust will only end up digging their own graves. These lame transparent baseless smears are as transparent as Saran Wrap and only end up revealing the ignorance of those who propagate them. Keep up the good work. It is about as effective as the failed campaign that has left this party in shambles.
It's so much more than just one word..(sm)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqiPrRG5lNU&feature=related

I think the word you are looking for is.....sm
presumptuous.

I find it rather self-serving of Obama to expect to move into the Blair House before it is available. Events at this house are scheduled months in advance and Mr. Bush was well within his rights as PRESIDENT to turn down Obama's request.

Why does Obama think the earth spins around him?
I think maybe the word you were looking for...(sm)
was "confusing," not "deceiving."  Obama was very clear in laying this out time and time again.  Youtube is full of videos of his speeches and debates.  You might want to browse through them.  What is deceiving though are posts like the one you just did.
In a word.................. sm
Yes. On both counts. If the rapist has a true salvation in Christ and the Jew does not .

Friend, you are more than pragmatic. You are hedging a bet that you are bound to lose if you don't accept Christ. It is as simple as that.
And the MSM never said a word about...
The 2 soldiers killed by a
"recent convert" to Islam in a drive-by shooting, but trumpeted how George Tiller was such a fine man cut down in the prime of life.
OMG, you used the word Christian! SM
Run!!!!!   By the way, I totally agree.  But they have to give it little names like fetus and things to keep from admitting it is a human being that God has helped create.  Whatever floats their boat.
I don't think threatened is the word. SM
I think disturbed covers it better.  You and Libby with your screaming posts.  What's up with that?
