I haven't but would not hesitate in a moment

Posted By: Kaydie on 2008-11-19

The area we live in is getting overrun with thugs, drug addicts, meth heads, etc. Robberies are on the rise and a lot of them happening in the middle of the night while people sleep. Kids were caught burning down houses because "I was bored and didn't have anything else to do".

I would have no problem doing whatever it takes to protect myself and home. Anyone who enters my home illegally is a skum bag and piece of dirt and I don't consider them human so have no problem destroying the animals they are.

AR, you can't remember what you were talking about from moment to moment.
Sorry for the late reply, I've been gone a week. Now AR, I have no problems admitting when I'm wrong about something. However, you STILL have not pointed out anything I said that was factually wrong. First you attack me for claiming R. Bennett was a partisan Republican, which I never did. Seeing that YOU were wrong, you then shifted gears to try and attack me to say that the Bennetts don't LIKE to be lumped together and that was what I really intended to do!! Just admit it!! LOL - sure I was speculating that they may share the same upbringing and philosophies, which is a very logical SPECULATION to make. I never said I didn't do that. That was the point of the whole post.

Arm yourself better next time and you might not come off looking like such a ninny.
I hesitate to respond to this because I'm an Independent and see good and bad

in both liberals and conservatives.

Believe it or not, liberal/independent people can be pro choice, believe in God, love America, would like to see all nations free, and most of all, supports our troops.

First of all, we love our country so much that we have respect for the Constitution. Being pro choice or pro life is a direct result of your religious/spiritual beliefs. The Constitution guarantees freedom of religion for ALL people, even those who don’t subscribe to the same religion as YOU. The concept of when life begins relies 100% on religious beliefs. If I believe that life begins at the moment of conception, then the best way I can honor my God my religion is to not ever have an abortion. What I DON’T believe is that I have the right to impose my religious beliefs on every American in this country via laws. If I do that, I’m infringing on THEIR religious beliefs. The same hold true for stem cell research. If you don’t believe in it, then don’t participate in it. But don’t prevent others who don’t agree with you from reaping the life-saving benefits it may offer. In fact, some of us might think those against this research are anti-life, rather than pro-life, since they don’t seem to care at all about saving the people who are already here. A reasonable person of any faith might ask why in the world God gave us the technology if he/she didn’t want us to use it.

We further believe in the Constitution’s promise that we have freedom of speech. There is no doubt in my mind that you were surrounded by pro Bush people at a pro Bush rally. Were you actually in the same room with President Bush, though? You may have been. I, on the other hand, would never be allowed to attend one of his "town hall" meetings because he prescreens people and doesn’t let anyone in who doesn’t agree with him or might challenge him. Some of us would definitely think this is a very anti-American practice.

As far as other moral values are concerned, I personally don’t believe in lying. My personal God doesn’t care for that very much, either. The entire world was lied to by President Bush concerning the war in Iraq. What’s much worse than that is that he used the tragedy of 9/11 to propagate a war against the leader of a country that wasn’t associated with 9/11 in any way. He used the vast support he received during the Afghanistan invasion after 9/11 to achieve the goal he had before he was even elected President: To declare war against Saddam Hussein. He did this on the blood and backs of every victim of the Twin Towers attack. My personal God really has contempt for that kind of behavior.

As far as getting rid of God "from the publics views," I have yet to hear of one church/synagogue/mosque or other public religious building being shut down by a liberal. Liberals have EQUAL respect for all religions and are against one particular religion receiving favor over another. To bring Jesus’ name into the political arena or an arena paid for by the tax dollars of everyone diminishes other religious beliefs. There are people whose religious beliefs don’t include Jesus, and some liberals see the "My God is better than your God" game to be very dangerous in a country that claims to provide freedom of religion for all.

Finally, regarding our troops: Nobody has more respect for our troops than I do. It’s the President who seems to have no respect. The difference between me and President Bush is that I place much more value on each of their lives. I would never be so reckless with the lives of our children as to send them into an unplanned war, refuse to provide them with adequate equipment to fight that war and protect themselves, and lie to them about their release dates in order to hold them hostage. For several months in a row now, the military has failed to reach their recruitment quotas, which is no surprise to me. I want our troops to come home, ALIVE AND WELL, and that is a direct result of the respect I have for him all. Their lives should not be sacrificed casually for a false reason. Their lives should only be on the line when we are protecting ourselves from a direct threat. Perhaps if Bush cared enough about this country 30-some years ago and served combat duty in Vietnam, he would have more respect for our troops. But his wealth and privilege came to his rescue, and he was able to wiggle out of it. He never had to know firsthand what it’s like to wake up every morning (if indeed you’re that lucky) to wonder if this day is going to be your last. Perhaps if he did, he’d have more respect for our troops today.

Everyone supported the President when he sent troops to Afghanistan after 9/11. Unfortunately, we can’t leave Iraq right now. Bush "broke it," and now WE are MORALLY obligated to fix it. God only knows when that will happen. It’s not, as he and his cronies promised in the beginning, going to be a quick war, and contrary to what he declared in his well-planned photo op, "Mission Accomplished" by a long shot. The terrorists must figure that the odds are pretty good in their favor if only ONE suicide bomber can kill multiple people, Americans and Iraqis, in a single hit. And they’re not going away. They’re only getting stronger all the time because Bush created a haven for them in Iraq. So much for respecting our troops. And how are we going to "fix" the mess he made in Iraq when we simply run out of troops because young people refuse to enlist because they’ve lost faith in him and don’t trust our government any more? He promised he wouldn’t impose a draft. If/when he ultimately DOES impose it, I think a GREAT photo op for him would be when he accompanies Jenna and Barbara as they enlist. I don’t think I’ll hold my breath for that one.

Did you know that part of the Iraq war budget includes a comprehensive health care plan for every Iraqi citizen?  I personally think it's very immoral for a President to take care of others in another country when his own Americans are in the midst of such a health care crisis.

He’s apparently too concerned about "spreading freedom" all over the world to guarantee that same freedom is safe from peril here at home. I recently heard that al Qaeda is now joining drug lords from Central America to cross our carelessly unprotected borders and enter the country. They figured out they can do this successfully because their complexions are similar, and they can easily pass as someone of Latin descent. There is a myriad of other things this President should have done to make this country safer. But he’s too busy obsessing on his personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein. If he had put 1/100th of the effort into finding Osama bin Laden, we would have captured him by now. If he had put 1/100th of the effort into taking precautions concerning nuclear plants and other entities in this country, we actually WOULD be safer today.

Just because someone has tolerance and respect for all religious beliefs; perhaps has his or her own style of respect and support for our troops by wanting to keep them alive and using their service carefully, thoughtfully, and judiciously; believes a person already born and living in this country is a citizen and that an embryo isn’t; believes that we should clean up our own country before trying to clone more like it all over the world; and believes that the Constitution should be the written document that is relied upon to form laws and that religious documents should be left to churches and other houses of worship, doesn’t mean he or she doesn’t love this country, doesn’t believe in God, doesn’t have morals, isn’t a good person and doesn’t have values, and, most importantly, doesn’t support our troops.

The fact that you seem to think it does and would even ask that question, though, makes me wonder somewhat about you.

I don't believe it for a moment. sm
The fact is, he WAS the face of terror.  Knowing how cohesive the Arab world is, I don't for a moment believe there were no terrorists in Iraq.
Well, first, I don't believe that; but, let's for a moment....
assume he did call his wife that. And again assuming IF he were so silly as to call Sarah Palin that in public, he would find himself sitting on his rear in that same public, because she would probably clock him. As long as we are talking about what if's, rumors and innuendo.
Think for a moment....
If you pay 20-25% in taxes with 60K, just how much do you think someone making 250K a year pays in taxes?

Believe me, someone making that amount of money does pay their FAIR SHARE. They are in a much higher tax bracket, MUCH HIGHER, and therefore, pays MUCH MORE in taxes. I'm always amazed at how those without a clue seem to criticize those that financially make more. Since when is that a crime? If you could, I'm certain you would too and would not feel you should be penalized for a higher income.

The higher incomes are what keep our lousy government afloat in the first place.

Taxes are relative, the more you make, the more you pay.
At this very moment

I have left the room because I cannot stand listening to Arnold Schwartznegger talk about Obama's skinny legs and scrawny arms.  Schwartznegger is a proponent of the right to choose in case you aren't aware of that.  So what is he doing campaigning with John McCain.  Another thing that is just disgusting is Hank Williams Jr. grinning and nodding in the background.

I can see, I can hear.  I respect your opinion to believe what you believe.  I DO NOT believe in abortion but your McCain must not have too much problem with it if he has Schwartznegger introducing him do ya think?

Historical moment. We have come together

Wow, what a mirror moment. (nm)

I realize that. But at that particular moment, they

...is the ton of work that just showed up on my desk from my two itsy bitsy GT accts I have, which ain't so itsy bitsy....I won't be able to be around very much for the next week, and there looks like a bunch of new topics up above, which I may have to skim later...

Take it easy....

OK, sam. Another moment in history has come to pass.
you go me ROFLMAO. LOL.
Correct if I am wrong, but at the moment this is
you can't test ANYBODY until they hold the position, can you? Having said that, there are a few things to consider here. What do you think is an appropriate response to Russia's renewed aggression of late? Does it come as any surprise that, with American military forces stretched so thin, Russia would not try to take advantage? Georgia was not aimed at Obama, now was it?

This is where viable alliances come in handy. Europe is in the neighborhood and not across the ocean from Russia. Poland, Ukraine, Georgia and other countries interested in orienting themselves toward and allying themselves with the West will naturally be viewed by Russia as open targets, vulnerable to their flexed muscles.

W has done very little in the way of preserving the value of these time-tested alliances and has held the US in the isolation that is endemic to world superpower status. A diplomat he is not and the guy seems to have a real adversion to the basic concept of diplomacy.

In stark contrast we find Obama. As far as I am concerned, he cannot get to the helm fast enough, so if anything, I take comfort in the idea that we are 76 days and counting.
Ah, YESS! Thank-you! (I was having a 'senior moment',
nm
Then why don't we make a pact from this moment forward?

We will stay off your board if you stay off ours. Do you agree or not?

I did notice that. These peoople are getting more and more pathetic by the moment..sm
and have been pushing me farther and fatther to the left.

That was such a retarded response to an important issue. I would like to know what you guys think about it though. Keep the electoral college or not.
If you would step out of paranoid palace for a moment..
point to me ONE place where I advocated killing all Muslims. All I said was, and the only question I asked was, why don't the peace-loving Muslims denounce the murders within their own ranks who are hijacking their peaceful religion to justify killing of innocents and hatred of anything nonMuslim? And you rant and you rant, but you never answer that. And again..it was the Muslim extremists who called what they were doing jihad...I did not call it that, I simply repeated what they said. For someone who is supposedly educated, you certainly run from questions when they are posed to you. And by the way...education does not give you the right to be rude, and rude you are lady...and if you are the poster child for an education...I believe you get the idea.
Wow. A historical moment. I almost never agree with your posts....
x
Where? Who? Our country has no real leader at the moment.
Not Bush.

Not Obama.

Nobody.

Nada.

Zilch.

Oh, wait, maybe Pelosi...she's got a lock on the purse strings...yours and mine, although you don't know or care......ugh....

Like I said, no real leader anywhere in sight.
If possible, think for one moment what it would mean for Israeli troops to fight in Iraq. TI
If I need to say anymore, my suspicions will be confirmed.
Why don't you lay off me for a moment and pray for the people on our gulf coast...
they are far more important than this bickering.

Nevermind the soul for a moment....let's talk about LIFE.
The law says killing someone is murder. It does not say anything about killing someone with a soul is murder. The baby is alive, and it is being killed. That's murder.
Punishing a teen for life for a stupid moment of
it just brings yet another person (most likely ALSO stupid) into an already overpopulated world.
How do you know they haven't?

That's the whole point.  Bush acts like a dictator in complete privacy.  Of course nobody can name names because this president thinks he can spy on whoever he wants without ever telling the person.

The sooner they impeach him, the safer this country will be.

No I haven't
but I'll try to remember to check it out.

At church last week our preacher had just gotten up to preach and he had just told us to turn to a Bible verse. So we all looked down to turn to the verse and when we looked up he was gone. Apparently he had stepped through the side door to go get a drink of water. Of course he came back out two minutes later, but someone made the joke that the rapture had come and he was the only one taken. It was pretty funny. Of course if it had really happened we'd have all of been with him (well hopefully, as I'm sure you know there are people in church who aren't really Christians!)
No, I haven't but
I'm seriously considering it...on a local level, of course, where I'm qualified.  If I were younger............
I haven't seen that but I have seen others
There are just some very strange people in this country who think nothing of putting themselves on youtube giving their opinions (no matter what the subject). In today's world I would never ever put my face out for all to see stating my opinion. On this board is one thing (and even then I'm always concerned about what I post and who is watching it), but sometimes it's best to keep ones feelings to oneselves, especially if it is negative. The thought police are out there and you just never know what will come back at you for the worst.
I haven't seen her lately
When the election was going on (still when Hillary was running against Obama) and even shortly after the primaries ended I really enjoyed her. I thought she was level headed and brought out some good discussions and issues, but then towards the end of the election (maybe a couple weeks before 11/4) I found her starting to become opinionated and she jumped down someones throat about something that I thought she was clearly wrong on. She just became irritating and got under my skin a bit. I also really used to like Keith Olberman, but his coverage of the election was so unfair and between Keith and Rachel I just found them opinionated and not reporting facts and stuff so I kind of lost interest. Maybe I should try watching them again. It's funny about Hannity and Colmes. I cannot stand Hannity. He's just too uppity and goody two shoes and even D Morris would tell him stop focusing on certain issues and report on the other important ones and he doesn't listen. He annoys the you know what out of me. But Colmes...this guy is a crack up. I used to not be able to stand him. Now I enjoy listening to him. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I'll listen. I can take him a lot more than the others because he doesn't gloat about the O winning whereas the others do.

So I'll have to catch her show again and see if she's gotten better. Thanks for reminding me about her.

I'll tell you...if Bush is able to pardon himself....I think there is going to be a huge uproar. Mind as well just let the criminals decide what punishment they should get.
I haven't seen that.........sm
and don't know when it was made, but you can bet your bottom dollar that at the time it was made, that statement was probably meant to be comic relief.  The average US citizen would have laughed at such a statement prior to this presidential election.
sorry, no they haven't......
There is tons of pork barrel in that package. Even the moderate democrats are sickened by all the crap in there and refuse to pass it. Obama must have forgotten the part where he said absolutely no pork barrel spending! Yea, right!
I haven't seen any
poll takers out asking mainstream America their opinion, only the fabricating media and perverted judges telling us how wonderful homosexuality is. The rest of America finds the act of homosexuality deplorable. ;-)
Really? You haven't?

Just to take the first point:  How about a speech he gave in 2008 which he criticized the US because most of us speak one measly language, while Europeans often speak 2 or 3?  There is actually a pretty good reason for that, by the way.  A person could drive in Europe a distance equal to the trip from Cincinnati to Chicago and pass through several countries.  Some countries even have several dialects. Many European countries are tiny.  Being multilingual in Europe is very practical.  America is huge and people a couple of thousand miles away can understand one another in a single language, from youse guys to y'all.

I don't remember ever hearing a US president or presidential candidate publicly criticize his country the way this one has (well, maybe Kerry).  And of course our foreign critics simply lap it up.  I think Michelle Obama has some foreign language skills, but I've got to wonder in what second and third languages Barack himself is fluent.  Surely he must be.....

I was unable to find the full text/location/date of the speech I am referring to, but here's a link to an article on it.  Sorry, it does seem to be an piece that is overall critical of the great man, but then the mainstream would probably not have mentioned this at all

http://www.libertylounge.net/forums/32918-obama-again-shows-how-out-touch.html

Oh, by the way, no spam file, I wrote it.  Whether or not you find it witty, it's the way I view O's public criticism of the US, as though we are a collection of bumpkins he's stuck with and trying desperately to fix up.

Hey! Haven't seen you in a while...nm
x
What makes you think they haven't.
/
I haven't been here that long but
long enough to see clearly how immaturely they operate.  PHEW!
Then you haven't been listening.

I have seen at least four conservatives express concerns about Bush on several occasions, and they even elucidated them. Of course, you would have to take off those blinders to see them but you aren't about to do that.  What a joke.  As far as your remarks about racisms, I consider your remarks extremely racist.  And never mind the fact that black Americans, one of whom was quoted here, are also defending Bennett.  Their voices don't count because they must be Uncle Tom's, right.  AGAIN, a racist way of thinking.

You are so right. I haven't posted here
for this very reason. Certain posters (you know who you are) will come here to bash posts even when they are addressed to liberals. Apparently it doesn't matter to them that the moderator has repeatedly asked them not to do so and they can't seem to resist the urge to come over to this board when, in fact, they have their own. They've done it to me, they've done it to PK and others. Good luck to you...it's too bad, 'cause they ruin the discussion for everyone else and it gets to the point where it just isn't worth it.
obviously you haven't seen Sicko
good god i wish we had it like France. Not sure what Canadians you are talking to but the ones i've seen are afraid to come to the US because of our health care system, "what if" an accident occurs in the US? and just maybe we DO need a waiting period for certain things. I know plenty of people that run to the doctor for every little thing. Maybe if they give their bodies a chance to heal itself instead of expecting to get antibiotics every time we might have less cases of MRSA. it's what drives up the cost of insurance and health care in general
At least we haven't been attacked
again on our soil....if tricky Billy Clinton did HIS job while in office, Bin Laden would have been taken care of and 9/11 would have never happened.  Happy anniversary to you.  Bush is far from perfect but we have been safe at home.
haven't roosted yet

but baby there will be a big, big party in Jan when they do!

I would venture to say, you haven't; you just
wanted to stop searching because it was leading to too many things that didn't look good for Obama.

yeah i haven't either
a friend of mine was called, they were trying to persuade her to vote for obama. Apparently they got an earful. LOL....

PS... My family is voting for McCain too...
I haven't researched but

I would imagine it is $250,000 on the bottom line profit since that is what we all pay taxes on.  I agree that a business with a gross income of $250,000 is not all that much, as a rule of thumb, probably $125,000 net.  On the other hand if it is $250,000 NET that's a pretty darn good income and I say they could well afford to pay a few measly dollars so those making a net of say $25,000 could have a little relief. But the middle or lower class workers are going to get NO relief because the big businesses are going to protect their greed and the small businesses have to raise their prices to survive.  Example:  We ate at a family owned restaurant the other night.  Sirloin steak was $17.95 the last time we ate there was $21.95.  The owner posted a sign apologizing for the price increases but said he didn't have any choice if he was going to stay in business because of his wholesale prices going up.  THANKS Bush and big oil.

Haven't you voted YET?
What are you waiting for?
I haven't heard anyone besides me say .....sm
good grief Gertie in a LONG time! hahahaha
I haven't voted yet.

I'm planning on hitting the polls a little later this morning.  Not too concerned about lines as our polling place is in a small town.

Gee Sam...wonder who you voted for.  LOL!  Go McCain/Palin!!!

Oh believe me I haven't given up hope
I'm just not liking the way things are beginning to shape up.  Some people are so hung up on McCain/Palin they can't get over it to see what is happenening.  That will accomplish nothing.  We need to be working on things we might be able to change, such as starting a protest with our Congressmen/women letting them know even before O takes office (and despite those who think they're still going to get McCain) he will take office.  When he announces the appointment of Hillary Clinton I will kiss my "hope" in him goodbye.
There is nothing there I haven't heard
As I said, if this guy is so horrid, there has to be more than the same tired opinions about him than we have heard repeatedly for the last 2 years. As you said, thousands of people agree with these opinions, but millions of people voted for Obama. I didn't, in part because I was convinced there was something that hadn't been dug up yet. Now, I am not so sure. Everyone keeps blowing smoke, but no one has found the fire. Maybe there just isn't one.
Haven't you noticed?
The posts about your so-called disaster sat up there all day yesterday and elicited next to nothing in the way of response. Noise on Focks and related subjects, like alien spaceships, come from the parallel universe and hardly qualify as real news. The only interest you will see there will be coming from the zombies marking lock-step behind the propaganda machine.
