You honestly think Obama will pray to God before he...
makes a decision? Oh, don't let the liberals hear you say that. They will be calling him Bush Jr. LOL.

Seriously...he CAN make it worse than it already is.

I do pray for the country, continuously...does not mean I need to check my brain at the door and you shouldn't either.
I pray that Obama is treated with
more respect than Bush was, not because I voted for Obama, but because he is the President. I wish him the best of luck because if he does well, we will be alright. I hope he isn't getting booed out of office in 4 or 8 years. So disrespectful, but only in America can you get away with it.
Yeah, I don't trust Obama's character
nm
Trusting Obama's character. That is a huge problem
nm
On that healing the divisions question
I would also be trying to believe that he is NOT Bush and that things would be in some measure better. In fact, when he first announced his candidacy, I thought to myself that this was a republican I could learn to live with. It was the hate speech and ugly racism and bigotry that dashed those hopes, and the candidates made their contributions to that dialog. Having said that, in the aftermath of such a hotly contested campaign, at the very least the tenor of the rhetoric needs to be dialed back considerably on both sides.

My impressions of your posts are based on everything I have witnessed come out of your mouth for as long as I have been on this forum. A kinder, gentler sam will take a little time to get used to. You certainly are entitled to your doubts and today I have noticed a definite shift in the edge on your rhetoric. I am probably having the same trouble you may be having in dialing back but I am giving it my best shot, as I believe you are too. We probably will get better at it with a little practice. I really wouldn't expect more than that at this point...just can't help hoping that we all are in for better days ahead and am pretty anxious to see that come about.
What the chart shows is that Obama is going to raise taxes on the people....
who employ the people in the other brackets. Trickle down will not be beneficial. What is wrong with giving the middle class a break? They are already supporting most of the lower class anyway. THe lower class already pay next to nothing in taxes. Oh I forgot...economic parity, redistribution of wealth....good old Marxist values.
Mormon Web site shows Obama's mother as baptized after death

by John Aravosis (DC) on 5/05/2009 0500 PM

A Provo, Utah newspaper has confirmed our earlier story - a Mormon geneological Web site does in fact list President Obama's mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, as having been baptized into the Mormon faith after her death (and presumably without her, or her son's, consent). The Mormon church has yet to confirm to numerous reporters' inquiries whether they did in fact baptize the President's dead mother last year in the middle of the presidential campaign. If true, and it's looking increasingly likely, this could cause the Mormons quite a bit of trouble politically and in the public relations sphere.

Still unanswered is whether the Mormons also baptized Obama's father.

More from the Provo Herald Extra:

At the same time that Barack Obama sealed the Democratic nomination for president last year, someone in the Provo LDS Church temple was performing a baptism and temple rites for his dead mother.

The move is a serious breech of protocol for church members, who in the past have been criticized for performing such proxy baptisms for victims of the Holocaust.
"Church members are specifically instructed not to submit the names of persons not related to them," reads a statement on the LDS Chuch Web site. "Before performing temple baptisms for a deceased family member born within the last 95 years, members are instructed to get permission from the person's closest living relative."

Officials of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have yet to confirm the incident, but records on their FamilySearch.org genealogical site clearly show that Stanley Ann Dunham received proxy rites in the Provo temple on June 4 and June 8 of 2008. The birth and death dates of the person for whom the rites were performed match those of Obama's mother.

If it's any comfort, 59% of the

A very sad state of affairs.

Poll: U.S. disapproves of war in Iraq

Thu Jun 8, 7:24 PM ET

The death of al-Qaida leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq came as more Americans than ever thought the war in Iraq was a mistake, according to AP-Ipsos polling.

The poll, taken Monday through Wednesday before news broke that U.S. forces had killed al-Zarqawi, found that 59 percent of adults say the United States made a mistake in going to war in Iraq — the highest level yet in AP-Ipsos polling.

Approval of President Bush's handling of Iraq dipped to 33 percent, a new low. His overall job approval was 35 percent, statistically within range of his low of 33 percent last month. The poll of 1,003 adults has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Among other findings:

_More than half, 54 percent, said it's unlikely that a stable, democratic government will be established in Iraq, a new high in AP-Ipsos polling. The survey was completed before Iraq's parliament approved three key new government ministers. Just 67 percent of Republicans, 63 percent of conservatives, and 57 percent of white evangelicals believed a stable, democratic government is likely.

_Only 68 percent of Republicans, 57 percent of white evangelicals and 51 percent of self-described conservatives — key groups in Bush's base of support — approved of his handling of Iraq. Those most likely to disapprove are Democrats (89 percent), women (70 percent), minorities (84 percent), city dwellers (72 percent), those with household incomes under $25,000 (71 percent), and unmarried men (70 percent).

_Those most likely to believe the war in Iraq was a mistake are Democrats (84 percent), women (63 percent), especially suburban women (67 percent), minorities (76 percent), city dwellers (66 percent), self-described liberals (82 percent), moderates (64 percent), and Catholics (62 percent).

It give me no comfort at all....sm
to see the two of you talk like this, nor do I wish to engage in any "told you" sort of mentality.

Things really do feel like they're changing, and if the dems succeed in stealing the last few runoff elections/recounts in the Senate and get the super majority there....look out.

I hope you feel better, Marmann...sounds like you may be under the weather.....

Cold comfort

But I believe we will be proven right before too long. And when that happens the failure will still be laid at the feet of Bush and the republicans.  The country was just too far gone.  Obama did his best against all odds, but victory was snatched away by those evil conservatives.

I don't want our country to fail, but I do want Obama's ill-advised policies to fail because anything else will change this country into something I can no longer recognize.  Probably I will never earn 250K, but I like to think that if I ever do I might get to keep some of it without hundreds of sticky fingers trying to pry it from my grasp and give it to slackers who did not work for it.

This should come as no surprise.... Obama has wanted to shut this down from the start and will do so completely! This is just a starting point. If you don't like the words, then stop listening to Obama 'cause he has yammered on and on about how ALL us American citizens want this package. REALLY? Strange, seeming how the white house switchboard is overwhelmed with calls saying NO to this package!!!

Your friend Obama does not want that part leaked.

Who you callin' sheep? WE aren't part of the Obama flock which is why

I pray to God you are right.
Because everyone, news media, republicans, democrates on TV, businesses, etc., are all stating we will have to pay high taxes for at least the 100,000 mark (was 250,000) and could go down to 48,600 mark.  Biden said 120,000.  I cannot believe a word what comes out of their mouth, but I sure hope you are right.

FW: Joe Biden (You WON'T see THIS "reported"....ANYWHERE!!!)

I feel an obligation to honesty and truth to share with you some facts. My Father and Mother instilled in me the values and morals of treating people fairly and always being honest. If you purchase something, you pay for it. If you borrow something, you give it back.

I have been "stiffed" three times in my 30 year professional career by someone who I rendered services to, gave a finished product to, but who refused to pay for those services even though they acknowledged the services and products were correct, were what they asked for, and were never challenged for not being correct. I am lucky in having only three, but those three hurt badly.

Joe Biden was one of those people. I worked on his 1988 Presidential campaign financial disclosure engagement. I busted it for him and got everything right. He stiffed me for over $15,000 worth of work. He refused to pay once he dropped out of the race. I did similar Capitol Hill campaign financial disclosure work for Bob Dole, Pat Buchanan, and a Democratic candidate for Ambassador to New Zealand. All of those folks paid even though they lost the election or did not get the appointment. That type of work is very demanding and very tedious because your efforts are scrutinized by Congress. Biden did not care.

I am on the Board of Directors of a company that owns a majority position in a private jet management company in Northern Virginia. They manage jets for businesses and rich folks. They also charter planes to the public. This past winter John Thompson chartered over $250,000 worth of air time. He paid every penny.

Joe Biden, in his latest unsuccessful run for President, chartered over $150,000 worth of air time. He PAID ZERO. He continues to refuse to pay stating his race is over and he is out of money. He never once complained about his flights. Joe Biden is a rich man. He could pay.

Joe Biden is a liar and a cheat. I know it first hand. Character is what life is all about. Joe Biden is a man of bad character and sets a bad example for America.

I feel compelled to share this dark side of a man who asks for your vote and trust.

Best Regards,

This email went out 9-2.  Biden has now paid the bill.  Well go figure...LOL.

Character

Unless there is a new candidate, I see no character in any of the candidates.  The only one who gets any real sympathy from me is Joe Biden;  how horrible it must have been to lose a wife and a child in a terrible accident.

As for McCain, by his own admission, he was not faithful in marriage, yet we expect him to be faithful to those of us who are small time people that he doesn't even know?  I think not.

Yes, I read what McCain's ex-wife had to say about him.  I greatly admire and respect her for not bad-mouthing the father of her children.  I think many women would do well to follow her example.  But can anyone tell me with a straight face that the ex-wife, scorned and pubically at that, can remain a great fan of the ex-husband for any reason than out of love and respect for her children or perhaps for money?  No?  I didn't think so.

Everyone thankfully is free to vote for whomever they wish.  I will not vote for a rat that ran out on his disabled wife.  Whether he did it for Cindy's youth and beauty or for her money, I don't know, but it surely advanced his political aspirations.  What I do know is that I would not like to see such an immoral man in the White House.  Is Obama any better?  I don't know.  His administration might be worse than McCain's but I'll take a chance on him by voting, not FOR him but AGAINST John McCain.

Character
Honestly I think McCain has less character than Obama but then I respect your opinion.
Why don't you lay off me for a moment and pray for the people on our gulf coast...
they are far more important than this bickering.
Ok, fine. Don't pray for the people in the path of Gustav.....
it was them I was concerned with. You guys can pile on me all you want. It just demonstrates that pile on mentality to try to quell opposition, which is about as UNdemocratIC as you can possibly be. Try to stop it for a minute to pray for those in danger and what do I get...more piling on. That says more about that attitude than I ever could.
At least she has character.........unlike some

character is not an "issue" to them. Well, it is

One word: Character....nm

What does it say about a candidate's character

1.       Dumps his crippled wife and mother of his children to have affair with wealthy heiress, then turns around to apply for marriage license before his divorce is final.

2.       Calls his wife C-word.

3.       While speaking at a biker's rally, volunteers his wife as a contestant in the "Miss Buffalo Chips" topless modeling contest, including it's legendary banana competition.

4.       Tries to blame his wife for the Keating 5 scandal when it becomes public.

5.       Screams at and thoroughly humiliates a young pub volunteer who set up his podium at a rally.

6.       Jokes about ape rape and killing off Iranians with cigarettes and "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb."

7.       Describes Arizona's elderly as "seizure world."

8.       Throws temper tantrums, punctuated with the casual use of the F-word.

9.       Calls fellow senators Aholes and sh-heads.

10.    Ignites a culture war to get elected.

11.    Questions the patriotism of his opponent and fails to renounce his supporters who question his faith, endlessly insinuate he lies about it and portray his wife as a militant with hidden agendas to stage a socialist/Black Power takeover of the country.

12.    Embraces endorsement from a pastor who disparages Catholics, women, African Americans, Muslims and LGBT Americans, believes that Hurricane Katrina was punishment from God because "New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God and they were recipients of the judgment of God," announced a "slave sale" at the church to raise funds and believes that "the coming nuclear showdown with Iran is a certainty,"

13.    Overlooks the Bush-Rove campaign strategy of unleashing a landslide of racist attacks on him, including calling his own daughter an illegitimate half-black love child, turns around in 2004 to campaign for W's second term, throughout it all supported 9 out of 10 of his disastrous policies that has brought the nation to it knees and then embraces Rove as senior campaign adviser in 2008.

14.    Stood silently by while fellow war hero/veteran John Kerry was swift-boated without mercy.

Before any rebuttal ensues that would seek to deny, dodge and deflect, keep in mind that character assassination has been a benchmark of JM's campaign and of his supporters, so no whining allowed.  Finally, this is legitimate inquiry, given that 90% is striving so diligently not to be 90% and has hawked character as his main qualification for presidential leadership.

character issue

McSame was unfairly attacked by Bush machine when they ran in primaries together.  Bush people insinuated he had a black child out of wedlock.  They even claimed he was mentally unstable due to his time as a POW.  McSame was deeply wounded by the attacks.  But now he is willing to use same diversion techniques against Obama.  That, my friends, speaks of the character of the man.
