Money to Hollywood?
My husband mentioned something about part of the stimulus going to Hollywood. Can anybody enlighten me on this? Is this really going to help? Call me clueless, but I don't get how all this money being given to these corporations is helping. Makes me a little  in the stomache actually.

How many people do you think it takes to make a movie -- go all the way down to the key grip? Again, that's jobs. Not all job creation is going to be the jobs you want them to be. There are numerous industries in this country and not everyone can build a bridge.

All I can say is Hollywood would be proud...
Quite an acting job. I call it *cheerleading.* Trying to push people into an emotional frenzy. There are many that think pushing someone into an emotional frenzy will get them to make a decision for the Lord. Trouble is, that just confuses people and when the emotion wears off the *cheerleaders* are gone, the person who has made the *decision* is confused, does not know why all the emotion left and begin to question, and have no place to turn. I personally believe the choice for God is not made in the heat of an emotional moment but in a moment of quiet, clear clarity built on a solid base of faith. I do not mean to cast aspersions on anyone's choice of faith. It is just easier to get through the every day if you have that quiet, strong knowledge of faith and not expect to slide through life on an emotional freight train. That does not mean I do not have my emotional moments, because I do; usually associated with music because that is one of the ways God speaks to my heart. However, those who make an emotional decision not based on faith and knowledge of God's word get disenchanted when the *cheerleaders* are gone. That is why counselors are present at the Grahams' gatherings, so that people can talk quietly with someone and understand their decision before it is made. That way they have something concrete to hold onto when the emotion goes away. Just my two cents worth.

Way too many get sucked into that Hollywood
Because those "rich" Hollywood folks that so many O lovers love and follow, those folks have so many loopholes for their money, they KNOW they will not be paying taxes out the butt. They can afford folks to help them figure out where to put all that cash to keep it safe from Obama, while they sing, dance, and play for Obama.

IMO, Hollywood shouldn't get a cent
of money from the government. That is just wrong. Of all people that deserve money.....it wouldn't be hollywood!
Another group I've heard complain are athletes. They are complaining because sales of tickets are down. Well.....I'm sorry but I think it is absolutely ridiculous that these athletes make as much as they do anyway.....maybe if they would take a pay cut and lower the ticket prices.....maybe more people could afford to go to games.
I live in Indiana and I am a Colts fan but I am thoroughly ticked that they threatened to leave Indiana unless we built them a new stadium. We built them a new stadium at the expense of the taxpayers and the Colts have sucked major butt since then. I would have told them to pack up and leave and not let the door hit them in the butt on the way out. They make WAY too much money to sit around and make demands like that. They could have easily built their own dang stadium....jerks. Just think about all those local people whose property taxes skyrocketed because the colts demanded a new stadium. I wonder how many people in the Indianapolis area lost their homes because they couldn't afford their property tax? Makes me sick.
And why in the world are the Army and the Air Force, etc. sponsoring race cars? They are pretty much taking taxpayer money to pay to sponsor vehicles that costs a butt load of money. That really chaps my ars too. ARGH!

New movie...
out on Edward R. Murrow and his taking McCarthy on. I have seen a couple of clips where he says, journalists are supposed to maintain impartiality, but Senator McCarthy, enough is enough. The movie is unapologetically one-sided (ours) but even so, wouldn't it be wonderful to have some real journalists working for real editors whose companies are not owned by 1 conservative conglomerate and who have real freedom of speech.

ONE, ONLY ONE... What happened to all the "oh so many movies" made about the killings of homosexuals. AND Matthew Shepherd was killed because he was trying to rob his killers. They were punished and well they should have been.
Consider that according to the latest FBI statistics, out of 1.4 million violent crimes in 2007; there were a mere 247 cases of aggravated assault (including five deaths) reportedly motivated by the victim's sexual orientation or gender identity. There is zero evidence to suggest that, where appropriate, perpetrators were not prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in every instance.

He said being a conservative in Hollywood is the mark of death. Most of the stars who are conservative just never mention it, although I did see Kelsey Grammar on H&C and he freely admitted he was a Republican and might even think of running for office. Like you said, go figure. Still, I doubt seriously the MSM will care about BW. It just isn't newsworthy. I could be wrong. No biggie.

The movie No End In Sight...Thank you Kam!! s/m
Netflix has a two week completely free trial period, which I signed up for the other day. One of the movies I looked for was No End In Sight. It can be sent via mail or instant access on your PC which is also included in the free trial. I decided tonight to view it on my pc. All I can say about the film is that I was completely rivited by it from beginning to end. It is truly an exceptional film. I had seen Fahrenheit 911 a few years ago, and was not really that impressed with it. I cannot say that about this film. It was exceptional! Many thanks Kam for the recommendation about No End In Sight!!

When word of this gets out, Ruth gets caught in the middle of a tug-of-war between Pro-Lifers and Pro-Choicers who want to use Ruth to get their messages across.

Just because Farrakhan calls Obama the 'messiah' does not mean that anyone who may consider voting for him calls him that as well. Actually I find the term blasphemous (no matter WHO it comes from), and I know that with the intelligent people who post their opinions here could not be that narrow minded. As far as a 'horror movie' - the last eight years of our lives has indeed been that; unfortunately it is all too real and many have suffered because of it. Greedy politicians and their ilk have been robbing us blind even before anyone knew who Obama was, and for Lord knows for how long we will CONTINUE to suffer because we have been so complacent and passive. It's about a guy that looks like the President and when the real President has a heart attack while with his mistress, he gets hired to pretend to be the President. He then starts making all these changes - including a terrific budget-cutting scene you'll just love! Great, great movie.

Great movie! I saw it last year...
I highly recommend those who haven't seen it to do so. It is a real eye opener. For those that have always thought there was something fishy going on the in the car/fuel story it is great affirmation, and for those who never realized it, it will make a believer out of you!

If you only watch 1 movie this year...
it should be No End In Sight. I started a thread below about the movie, but that was before it had come out on DVD, and I had not seen it yet. I watched it tonight, and it was beyond informative. It features interviews with "high ranking officials such as former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, Ambassador Barbara Bodine (in charge of Baghdad during the Spring of 2003), Lawrence Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff to Colin Powell, and General Jay Garner (in charge of the occupation of Iraq through May 2003) as well as Iraqi civilians, American soldiers, and prominent analysts."
I learned so much that I have never seen featured on any news program, and the information is coming directly from the "horse's mouth." I don't believe that even the most die-hard Bush supporter will find much in the way of inaccurate facts, as much of the information is coming directly from people who were actually a part of the Bush Administration. I don't know the whole story on mccain, but I do know he is the only one running with any sense of military. Obama says he will consult with his wife and grandmother, McCain says the generals. as far as addiction, they are very clever at hiding things from their families. I have known several through the years with alcohol problems, same thing. Betty Ford Clinic. How come nobody cares about sporting figures or hollywood stars or singers? and yes, some of them do end up in politics before you go there. The truth is, the whole world is jaded and traditional values don't mean anything anymore, or at least it seems that way. I want to see a politician I CAN trust, who can take the hard road when he has to, and I think he will have to. I also take note of the fact that no democracy has much staying power after the morales have gone, when debauchery is the norm, and everybody grows tolerant, then you will soon see a lost nation.

I heard last night that many of the forclosures are on loans made to illegal aliens because our government passed a law that something or other, I wasn't aware before, that had to give so many loans to them. So I say again, what I've said all along, our government allowing unbridled illegal immigration was going to, and now has bankrupted us. They take free medical care, free education, ALL the freebies and still want more. RIDICULOUS!!!!
Well, I for one don't know anyone who is worse off now than
4 or 5 years ago. Sure, we have taken a hit in the market, but the market always comes back, and that isn't our main source of investment anyway. In our circle of friends, who make between 75K to 500K a year, we don't know anyone who has not been able to make a house payment, CC payment, can't afford to send their kids to college, etc. Speaking for DH and I, we have never been late on any payment, never had an NSF, never over spent our CC limit. Not everyone is in dire financial straits. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who are in our situation who have planned for the future instead of living for today only. It is not uncommon or unheard of for people to be living within their means. I guess O considers us rich at 250K a year; wait until he decides that he needs to lower that figure to get the money he will need for all his "social programs" he wants to institute.
