It was the truth & I admire Colbert's guts. sm

Typical neo-conservative, do not like the message shoot the messenger. Colbert said what MOST of us think, but are afraid to say. The looks on their faces were priceless.

Aw, that's sad because I admire you so much.

I've never known anyone to have the agility you possess to be *passing thru* on such a frequent and regular basis while simultaneously having your head so firmly planted in the sand.

I have to admire a guy like

Joe.  He asked a legit question and for once Obama gave a truthful answer.  The personal attacks on Joe were bound to happen though.  I mean....why would the dems keep the focus on Obama's answer when they could tear an average American just striving for the American dream to shreds and take the focus off of Obama's answer.  I'd vote for Joe!  Besides, when I saw Joe on different TV shows being interviewed, he wasn't cocky.  He had a legit question and he asked it.

As for the Laura video on youtube, I posted a text comment since I don't have a web cam.  I'm waiting for my comment to be approved.

That about sums it up for me. I admire
nm
I have to admire people like you.

I give credit to anyone who has been down and worked like you have to support yourself and your kids.  I wish more people were like that.

I, unfortunately, have some people in my family who live off of the government one way or another and it makes me sick.  They haven't learned anything.  They continue to mooch off of the government and other family members too stupid to stop giving them things.  I have a niece who got pregnant, never paid the doctor bills for her first child and then willingly and knowingly tried to get herself pregnant and had ANOTHER child when she wasn't even paying for the first one.  There are people receiving disability who shouldn't be.  I've seen people with serious disabilities honestly needing disability and having to apply several times and then I find people who are already on it and could easily work.  That is what makes me sick.

I don't know if laws vary from state to state because I've never, thank God, had to applied for government assistance.  I don't begrudge those who have no other choice, but I feel there are a lot of people who have another choice but are just too lazy to better themselves with a good education and hard work.

I admire his reaction to this tragedy...sm
I wasn't going to do comparisons with this one, but the only question burning in my gut is why didn't he show up for the Katrina victims. I don't remember a half staff declaration for the loss of American lives then.

Honoring the Victims of the Tragedy at Virginia Tech

A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

Our Nation grieves with those who have lost loved ones at Virginia Tech. We hold the victims in our hearts. We lift them up in our prayers, and we ask a loving God to comfort those who are suffering.

As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on Monday, April 16, 2007, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, Sunday, April 22, 2007. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this seventeenth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-first.

GEORGE W. BUSH

Absolutely nothing as long as you do not admire
and hang around terrorist as friends.  I do not even care if you were purple, as long as you do not pal around terrorists.  Love to see that video of Khalid and the O.  At least I do not have to worry about that with McCain because he wants to fight the terrorists.  Who cares about economy, it will recover.  Once the nuke hits, its ALL OVER.  I remember 911 very well to this day.
Was a Colbert fan before
the dinner speech.  I wondered if the rightwing knew what they were getting, or if they just picked him because they heard he was funny.  Did they watch of any his TV shows?  They got what they asked for, and I for one, was rooting him on!  What else was there for Colbert to talk about? The whole Bush era has been horrendous for at least 65 percent of the American people.  The other 35 percent just have not been touched by his bumbling, arrogant, outrageous administration.  As someone mentioned above in this thread, the people were actually laughing, then snickering.  Seem to me they were afraid to laugh out loud because the gustapo might get them later... my take on it... but it was FUNNY stuff.  Wish they would rerun it!!!
LOL; did you see Colbert too?

Stephen Colbert does it again!

This time on gay marriage....of sorts.  LOL!

Stephen Colbert
Anyone watch the show Thursday?  He had Hillary, Edwards and Obama, but I have to say, Edwards was fantastic.  His segment that night was hilarious and entertaining.
The Colbert clip is funny...sm
But senator Allen's track record with minorities is not :-(

Imagine being black and in Alabama. Confederate flags are flying proudly over houses, on cars, etc. I've lived and learned through *my white friends* (pun intended :) and realize that to some people this represents a part of their history, but it also represents a part of my history that does not allow me to see any honor in the flag.

Allen to me is not just one of those attempting to honor his ansestors. He also had a noose in his office, a noose. I'm not sure a person can, as he said, *grow* out of that kind of hatred.

Someone needs to say it, wish more had the guts.sm
What he said was the truth. Everything has gotten so Orwellian it is creepy. The silence about it from both left and right is disturbing.

Truth = nuts.
Free speech = treason.

Colbert White House Correspondents' Dinner sm

Did anyone else see this?  Thank you Colbert, I am now a fan.

Wow....I know most of you hate his guts but...
he is a human being after all, and he just looks to me like he hs the weight of the world on his shoulders, and doesn't try to hide it for a photo op. I don't agree with all the decisions he has made, but I am firmly behind him on his terrorism stance, and I appreciate the fact that he doesn't mind showing his emotions. He is the FIRST President I have ever seen in tears talking with fallen soldiers' families, and he is not the first President to be in power in wartime. Yet many will say he doesn't care that soldiers die. Which is a ridiculous statement. Like I said, I do not agree with many decisions he has made, but I don't think he is the devil incarnate. As much as I have heard Obama say he was against the war, he wouldn't even go and visit wounded soldiers still living, and I certainly have never seen him in tears or even the least bit emotional talking about the losses. To him it is numbers it would appear...to Bush those numbers have faces and families. I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't what was on his mind in this photo.

I just don't understand the demonization of one man. I didn't see that treatment of Kennedy during Viet Nam or Clinton during Somalia and Kosovo...but of course, those men were Democrats. I guess that makes a difference in the minds of some. In mine...not so much.
Well, if you have the guts, go to the site...
http://www.abort73.com/ and view that video. The one that starts out with warning, graphic images. Then you come back here and tell me about baby mutilation.

And frankly, the way a bill is worded means nothing. If you would vote against a bill designed to save a child born alive for ANY reason, you are, in MY opinion, morally bankrupt. That is putting politics above the life of a child, and that tells me all I want to know about Barack Obama's decision-making process. If that sits okay in your books, fine, you certainly have the right to your opinion. I have the right to mine as well...and it does not sit okay with me.
I saw her. The lady has guts too!
nm
So, you don't have the guts to comment on
the mass execution of 3000 women, children and elders in Sabra and Shatila? Sort of reminiscent of Nazi concentration camp tactics, don't you think? Line 'em up single file and gun 'em down. Fine by you, yes? Children, no problem, right? After all, they are born terrorists, according to you.

OBAMANOMICS: In your guts you know he's

So, we all know that California is absolutely on the brink of bankruptcy - perhaps as soon as July.   The state desperately needs to make certain wage cuts - and the Obama administration responds by threatening to rescind the state's share of stimulus money!!  Can you say "oxymoron"??

Now, if the more cynical among you might be wondering if a union could be behind this ridiculous situation...well, you'd be right.  The infamous SEIU - just another boil on the backside of this nation.

Colbert Report: Senator Allen and His Ethnic Friends

This is sooooo funny.  When I first saw the clip of Allen's Macaca comment, I actually emailed the Colbert Report and wrote, **Help.  Senator Allen needs Stephen's help in getting some new ethnic friends** because this true story reminded me so much of the comedic segments on the Colbert Report regarding Stephen's search for a new **black friend.**  I think they call this life imitating art!  LoL!

I like Stephen Colbert's attitude. He said concerning the remarks about colors: "That was th
Dr. Seuss book ever!"  We take ourselves so seriously.  Someone is always going to be offended.
Zell Miller is the man!! That man has guts. That is the ONE...
Democrat I vote for. What are you gonna fight them with? Spitballs?? Love him. lol.
I think Lieberman puts Country first. -has guts.nm
nm
Yep. She has smart and has guts. Leftists hate her.
nm
Not enough people in this country have the guts for a tax revolt.
Unfortunately, the game is rigged against that too, because you need to be able to defeat an incumbent in the primary (in order to have another candidate of your party), and many incumbents run unchallenged in their primaries. This means you have to vote against them in the general election by voting for a candidate of another party. Many people find this very repugnant to do unless the candidate is truly very moderate.

When you really look at how the major parties have rigged the electoral process to keep themselves in office, you can see the extent of the corruption. On the other hand, when you look at countries that have more than two major parties, those don't work any better because two of them will get together to collude against the third party, etc. Israel is a good example of the mess you get into with multiple parties, none of which can get elected by themselves. They end up forming "alliances" with other parties and it gets very complicated just trying to figure out "who" is going to be in power or what they will do.

Perhaps there's a really big question here: Is mankind capable of competent self-government that is free of corruption, influence-peddling, secret deals and lies? I am beginning to think not.
The truth sounds rude when put bluntly but still is the truth. nm
!!!! hahaha
Liberal truth vs. Conservative truth.
x
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but...It's probably the biggest...sm
reason why I am voting democrat...they seem more honest than the the republicans and it looks like people are starting to get smart and *bailin' Palin*... We don't need to keep hearing her *greatest hits" version of her acceptance speech over and over and McSame's POW story...that was then, this is now...we need REAL change and we need it NOW. I don't need someone to push the red button, I need someone to fix the economy!
Truth? The truth is she is nuts!

Truth

give me a freaking break, okay?  The truth needs to be posted over and over and over again.

the truth
So true and so well put.
You could not be further from the truth. NM
...
Now, now, now... let's tell the TRUTH, which is NOT:

His first guest on his first show was Madalyn O'Hair (very appropo, since he is himself an atheist).

History IS important.  Check yours.

Phil Donahue is a Catholic.

Where's the truth in the above?

It's just your fantasy of wanting Bush to get caught getting a B.J....and quoting Marey Carey, a former porn star.  Any credibility you had you just flew out the window.

The truth is that no one really knows the truth about 911.sm
I think their secrecy surrounding the matter is creating oddball theories. I do not know if I would call them a subculture, but I know the 911 truth movement is quite large (millions). This will even be used as a political platform for a few running for office. One that comes to mind is Robert Bowman running for Congress.
Truth.

If you believe –
That the Bible is the inspired Word of God
That Jehovah God is a God of integrity and it is impossible for Him to break covenant because of His character,
That Jesus Christ is our example, and we are to follow Him,
Then there is no Biblical alternative to supporting Israel and the Jewish people.

Are you all nonbelievers here?

We already know the truth. nm

The truth (as you see it)...sm
Quotes from Mizz Coulter:

Freedom of Speech

* They're [Democrats] always accusing us of repressing their speech. I say let's do it. Let's repress them. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of the First Amendment.
o University of Florida speech; October 20, 2005.

Immigration

* I'd build a wall. In fact, I'd hire illegal immigrants to build the wall. And throw out the illegals who are here. [...] It's cheap labor.
o Fox News; The O'Reilly Factor; Transcript via Media Matters; April 14, 2006.
o On illegal immigration

Liberals

o (FOX News Channel, DaySide with Linda Vester, 10/6

New York Times

* My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building.
o New York Observer article; August 26, 2002.

* Of course I regret it. I should have added 'after everyone had left the building except the editors and the reporters.'
o rightwingnews.com; June 26, 2003.
o On her (above) statement concerning Timothy McVeigh

* [Learning difficulties are a cover for] rich parents with dumb kids...That's why 'Pinch' Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times, is alleged to have dyslexia - because he's retarded.

Stevens, Justice John Paul

* We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens's creme brulee. That's just a joke, for you in the media.
o Philander Smith College January 26, 2006 [6]

Women

* I think [women] should be armed but should not vote...women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it...it's always more money on education, more money on child care, more money on day care.
o Comedy Central; Politically Incorrect; February 26, 2001.

* It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 - except Goldwater in '64 - the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted.
o [8]; May 17, 2003.

* I think the other point that no one is making about the [Abu Ghraib] abuse photos is just the disproportionate number of women involved, including a girl general running the entire operation. I mean, this is lesson, you know, number 1,000,047 on why women shouldn't be in the military. In addition to not being able to carry even a medium-sized backpack, women are too vicious.
o Fox News; Hannity & Colmes; May 5, 2004.

Voting

* I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote.
o Fox News; Hannity & Colmes; August 17, 1997.

Liberals hate religion because politics is a religion substitute for liberals and they can't stand the competition.

* Slander (2002) ISBN 1400046610, p. 194

Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now.

o From a speech, November 2001, rebroadcast by C-Span in January, 2002.
o Education spending vs. defense spending

The list goes on:
These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by griefparrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husband's deaths so much. -on 9/11 widows who have been critical of the Bush administration

We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens' creme brulee. That's just a joke, for you in the media.

Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole.

There are a lot of bad republicans; there are no good democrats.

We need to execute people like (John Walker Lindh) in order to physically intimidate liberals.

Whether they are defending the Soviet Union or bleating for Saddam Hussein, liberals are always against America. They are either traitors or idiots.

We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity.

Liberals are stalwart defenders of civil liberties -- provided we're only talking about criminals.

We've finally given liberals a war against fundamentalism, and they don't want to fight it. They would, except it would put them on the same side as the United States.

Press passes can't be that hard to come by if the White House allows that old Arab Helen Thomas to sit within yards of the President.

The swing voters -- I like to refer to them as the idiot voters because they don't have set philosophical principles. You're either a liberal or you're a conservative if you have an IQ above a toaster.

How about this truth.
All life is sacred or no life is sacred, no exceptions.
Once again, not really the truth

I'm starting to get irked.  What is with all the manipulation of the truth?  Why can't you guys stick with fact?   Nixon denied what he had done, LIED blatantly for a long time until there was so much evidence against him that he FINALLY had to come clean.  Yes, much like Clinton.  I don't need to change historical facts to fit my own agenda like you do, e.g., also the Summerby comment.

Your claims are ridiculous and I don't know why you are making them.  You seem too intelligent for such complete hogwash.  Really.

I don't know why to tell you the truth....
...and I don't think it is a "Republican" site per se. It is definitely a conservative-leaning site. I am not a registered Republican except in primary years. I do not owe my alliegance nor vote to any political party. But I admit, the further left the Democratic party goes, the less likely I will ever vote democratic again. I have in the past. But it is doubtful that I ever will again. But...I digress.

I hear you about the complete bashing and name calling. And yes, you can make your points, counter the points of others, without bashing and name calling. I get angry too, and i think some of the things I see posted here at me...lol. But I get up, walk away, bite my lip, and then try to post after that initial wave of &(A(& passes...lol

Have a good night, kiki :)
Why not tell the truth for once?
You introduce an issue, someone does not agree with you, and then the attacks start. Eight, nine, ten bashing posts to my one. Now who does that seem like is monopolizing the board. THis is not a dem board. It is a political board. You do not tolerate any dissenting opinions. You should really try to actually be democratic...that is your party name after all.
Ain't that the truth!! nm
nm
Actually he DID tell the truth once...
when he said the big O was not ready to be President as it did not lend itself to on-the-job experience. He hit that nail square on the head.
Here is your truth. sm

Guess Olbermann is wrong about date - JUNE OF THIS YEAR.

not sure how much truth there is to this
i've heard it's not over.. hill may still run with obama
Not quite all the truth ...
Palin didn't kill the bridge to nowhere. She supported it and then, when CONGRESS said NO to it, she still took the money. Just a wolf in sheep's clothing there.

Probably a lot easier to have an 89% to 93% approval rating when you hardly have any residents to please!! LOL

McCain's cheating is just that: Cheating. It's not something you do - it's what you are -- a cheater. Even psychiatrists and psychologists will tell you that a person who cheats once is all the more likely to repeat that behavior. Cheating comes in all forms.

So, now if you're gonna forgive McCain's past badddd behavior, you must forgive Obama's past uglies, too.

If you want to hail Palin as some kind of maverick or new breed, make sure you give appropriate kudos to the other side who are doing things in a new light, too.

Oh, and by her a thesaurus. She needs to learn a little new lingo. Tired of every conversation out of her mouth being about the bridge to nowhere (which she supported and then took the money on) and being a maverick (hmmm, wasn't the Wild West full of mavericks who behaved badly and got away with it?) and putting that jet on ebay (which did not sell - someone else had to sell it and it came at a $600K loss in value - a loss to taxpayers) and all the same things in her first speech at the convention. Not a new word since. Not a new original thought since. Bush speechwriters writing for her. LOL

You sure you want to see the truth.....
And, you can't say it was all made up lies. The poor kid standing there pointing out the facts with his own mouth. How sad you think ACORN is such a great group. Look who they take advantage of. Probably the same ones they claim to want to help better themselves. Now, watch carefully....

Thanks for some more truth about
nm
Well, to tell the truth

I'm not sure if it is the left or the right driving this b/c thing into the ground.  I thought it was the right.  I know I'm sick of hearing the same ole same ole over and over and over.  It has gotten to the point that it just makes me angry.  There may be a few exceptions but I think maybe regular posters find nothing new to discuss so they may just go away.  One poster swore that he/she would keep bringing the b/c issue to the top and by golly, he/she has done so.  I have noticed that when a new topic is introduced there is no one who seems interested in discussing anything not connected with the b/c so that leads me to the above conclusion.  If there happened to be some new information regarding the b/c or lack thereof, I would certainly be interested in reading it but there is not a shred of proof that the b/c is  not legitimate and having examined it on the internet, which is about as close as any of us are going to get, the issue is resolved to my satsfaction.  I just wonder when the group flogging this dead horse will ever give it up and move on.  I enjoy debating issues with fellow MTs but not issues that have already been proven to be nonissues.  I doubt the SC will hear the case brought by that ignoramus lawyer.  If they do they are dumber than him.

What is it the b/c people want anyway?  Do they think Hillary could just be declared the winner after all?  Do they think McCain should be declared the winner?  Do they want Bush to stay in office?  With this country in such a mess, exactly what is it these people want to have happen?  Someone has to be president, if not Obama, then who?  I might give the whole thing a little more credibility if someone would take the time to explain to me exactly what it is they want to accomplish.....and PLEASE don't insult my intelligence by coming back with "he's not a citizen."

truth
Gourdpainter:  As my father always told us when we were kids - "there are four sides of the truth - your side, the other person's side; and the side no one is telling but most important of all - God's truth, and when you figure out which truth to tell that is right, then you can come and talk to me.."
