Just because we haven't talked about it on this board

Posted By: Rep on 2005-10-19
In Reply to: Sorry, but I didn't see anywhere - Libby

and I'm pretty sure we did back when the Jessica case broke, however, that's neither here or there.  Like I said in my post on the subject you can bet your sweet bibby that conservatives care A LOT about this issue.  I will reiterate that this guy better hope he gets the death penality, because if he goes free or if he just gets life in prison there's going to be a bounty on his head.

Please don't take this as an admission that all conservatives are Rednecks out to kill people, but I just know how the world works, and good men, either liberal or conservative, will not let this man be free in society again.....he's evil personified.

Oh, it's not like you haven't stalked on the conservative board. sm
In fact, I believe that is being investigated right now by Yahoo, if I am not mistaken.  You guys are expert at stalking.   How does it feel?
Well, Freethinker, if you haven't figured it out, this board is really into labels.
Though they will protest they aren't.  It's obvious from a look at this board why there are two boards.
You mean the same way CNN talked over 20
nm
We have talked about this before

but once again it comes down to the dems and reps....they are the main parties and everything is made about them.  You usually hear about an independent but still nothing big.  I guess they just expect us to look it up ourselves and we really should.  I actually considered Bob Barr for quite some time after seeing an interview of his.  He made a lot of sense and I looked into voting for him, but I knew that if I did.....I'd be taking a vote away from the two big parties and I didn't want my vote to help the man (Obama) who I 100% don't want in office to get into office.

It sucks that we have to be that way.  I would love for all of us to rebel against the whole d@mn thing and pick someone who isn't dem or rep just to show the two parties that they can kiss our @sses because they have royally screwed us.  Show them that the American people are sick and tired of the parties and that we want something different.....a real change.  Not just the promise of change but a real change.

I just talked to him again
he said he's going to call the hotline in Florida and see what to do. (That's where he is at).
Well, you talked a little about tax reform, but
The only reason you haven't heard about Obama's tax cuts is because you have not been listening. His tax cut program will benefit 95% of the population, those individuals making less than $250,000 per year. Obama's plan also has an increase in deduction amounts for working families. I'll skip the scare tactics and terrorist innuendoes. They have nothing to do with the subject at hand…the economy. Preach that sermon to the choir. Nobody else is listening.

O's plan also proposes simplification of the tax code and streamlining tax filing. With regard to earmarks, Obama Transparency and Integrity in Earmarks Act would require disclosing the name of the legislator who asked for each earmark, along with a written justification, 72 hours before they can be considered by the full Senate. There are also provisions for tax relief to small businesses.

So it seems that you think tax policies take care of the economy issue. But what about unemployment, jobs, worker's right's, minimum wage, stagnant wages, cost of health care and medical insurance, trade, outsourcing, energy, infrastructure, the mortgage crisis, predatory credit and lending practices, the stock market, etc. Does McCain have anything that remotely compares with this?

1. $1000 energy rebate.
2. State growth fund/Jobs growth fund job loss prevention measures.
3. Tax cuts to working families.
4. Eliminate income tax for seniors making less than $50,000/yr.
5. Simplify tax code.
6. Trade policy reform.
7. Revise NAFTA to favor American jobs preservation.
8. Improve jobs transition assistance.
9. Tax credits to companies that preserve US jobs.
10. Establish Advanced Manufacturing Fund to encourage innovation and jobs creation.
11. Increased funding for Manufacturing Extension Program to create and protect US jobs.
12. 5 million new green jobs.
13. New job training programs for clean technologies.
14. Extend Production Tax Credit in renewable energy sector.
15. Create National Infrastructure Investment Bank.
16. Invest in science.
17. Make research and development tax credit permanent.
18. Reform Universal Service Fund to provide and expand broadband across America with new tax and loan incentives.
19. Tax relief for small businesses and start-up companies.
20. Create network of public-private business incubators.
21. Ensure freedom to unionize.
22. Ensure worker's right to organize.
23. Protect striking workers.
24. Raise minimum wage.
25. Crack down on fraudulent brokers and lenders.
26. Create universal mortgage credit.
27. Ensure more accountability in the subprime mortgage industry.
28. Mandate accurate loan disclosure.
29. Close bankruptcy loophole for mortgage companies.
30. Create credit card rating system to improve disclosure.
31. Establish credit card bill of rights to protect consumer.
32. Reform bankruptcy laws.
33. Cap interest rats on payday loans.
34. Encourage lending institutions to make small consumer loans.
35. Expand Family Medical Leave Act.
36. Encourage companies to adopt paid leave policies.
37. Expand after-school opportunities.
38. Expand Child and Dependent Care tax credit.
39. Protect against caregiver discrimination.
40. Expand flexible work arrangements.

Have you talked to the sheep? sm
If not, you don't have a substantial argument that beastiality is cruelty to animals.

And yes, homosexuality does hurt people. It hurts parents and siblings and husbands and wives and children whose child or sibling or spouse or mother or father suddenly decides to come out of the closet. Or do their feelings not count?
Not to mention they have talked about
how obese people pollute more.  Soon if you are overweight, you will be taxed for any extra pounds you have.  If you are a farmer and have cows, you will be taxed for how much poo they crap out and how much they fart.  It is getting ridiculous.  Soon they will be taxing you if you sneeze.  Taxes and taxes and more taxes and what does are government do.....spend spend spend.
talked with a smal business

owner who is days away from master's degree in finance.  When I told her that this board was blaming the Federal Reserve Board for this crisis, she laughed out loud. She said that was like blaming sports reporter when a game is lost.  She states it is the policy of letting the big financial institutions play fast and loose with people's money by bundling a whole lot of complicated things together (including worthless mortgages) and selling them to others.  basically, the republicans saying make money any way you want, hurt anyone you want.

O has talked about "spreading the wealth."
That basically means those who have are going to be taxed so that the have nots get more than what they work for.
They talked about it on 'The View'
today and all agreed that this is a sick kind of humor, not funny at all, but very insulting to the President, who is actually meant.
They incorporated the story of the woman who was attacked by her chimp and was shot.
Very tasteless humor.

Actually, I have talked to them about all the "harmful" drugs. s/m
As in most things, education is power, education lends to more rational decisions, and being open and honest about these issues with my kids only leads them to become more responsible adults.  I happen to enjoy a very close, open, sometimes brutally honest relattionship with my children.  They tell me everything -- sometimes, too much, and I sometimes struggle to keep a calm, nonjudgmental atitude with them, as that is why we have such a great relationship.  I have told them in ugly details about the consequences and effects of chemically-based substances, because I have personally experienced just about all of them and have personally witnessed many friends lose their souls and lives to such drugs.  My kids understands that I personally know what I am talking about when I inform them of these things, and for that, they respect my honesty and my first-hand knowledge about these things, and so, will definitely think twice before being enticed to give it a try.
Candidates on both sides of the aisle have talked about...
affordable health care as long as I can remember. What they NEVER talk about is how they are going to realistically fund it. Hillary's plan ends up by being funded by the people who never get sick, who end up paying for all those who do get sick (that is the reader's digest version). And that is unfair in my book. That is what I am interested in seeing. When people say "America should provide health insurance for all Americans" what that means is, we will be paying for it through taxes. There is no other way to pay for it. The government has no money in and of itself...it is our tax money they fund things with. So, while your premiums may go down, your taxes will inevitably go UP, because that is how they are going to fund it. There is no magic answer here, at least from where I am sitting. One candidate talked about funding it through raising taxes on cigarettes. That is all well and good, but is it really the responsibility of people who smoke to pay for health care for America? And fewer and fewer people are even starting to smoke...so when smokers die off or quit because cigarettes get too expensive...then what? What will they tax next to pay for it? I am always interested in the specifics of how to pay for it. I don't like to hear "we will figure that out later." And, again, any plan is wholly dependent upon whether you can get both sides of the aisle on board for it...President can't pass it on his own. I just hope they will be honest and forthcoming about how they intend to pay for it.
Good thing Obama talked to them
all nice and friendly like.  So much for kissing their back sides Mr. President.  Maybe he should send them an iPod.
Talked to ignorant people who think Govt has its
nm
So you and your buds bash us on *your* board and suddenly, once you reach this board,

some respect?

You publicly post on the other board that you *try not to visit the bog of eternal stench.*

Well, doesn't look like you are trying all that hard. Or is that another example of Conservative honesty, like your buddy on the other board lies 3 times before suddenly deciding to be *up front* (in her own words) about the whole bogus line of crap she was spouting.

You and your 2 friends don't respect anyone unless they're a member of your little club, think exactly as you think, belong to the same political party as you belong, and believe in the very same little narrow SUBsection of one particular religion.

That's what I interpret from YOUR WRITTEN WORDS.  Your posts don't show respect.  They only show twisted *facts*, ignorance, anger and hatred.

You can't be *respectful* on your own board but suddenly, when you come here - HERE - the place YOU call *the bog of eternal stench* you suddenly discover some respectability during your mouse click from there to here?

Please.  Some of us aren't as stupid as you think we are.

You're becoming quite a bore.  You and your friends stated you don't want us on your board, but you're not happy unless you're picking a fight.  You and your *gang* told us to leave and not to post on *your* board.  Maybe that should work both ways.

Out of ALL the problems with radical Conservatives, maybe the most annoying thing is that you don't believe in equality at all.  You believe in SUPERIORITY.  Somewhere along the line, someone made you think you were special and above everyone else.  Sheesh!  You're not happy unless you're dictating to everyone else in the country what they're allowed to do in their own personal lives regarding life, death, science, etc. You even think YOUR GOD IS BETTER than everyone else's.

You want to make the rules, censor people and tell them which boards they can and cannot post on, but YOU want to invade them all and spew your ignorance and hatred.

In my heart, I believe there are sincere, honest, intelligent Conservatives out there who are capable of a sensible debate.  I've seen them.  (I hope you don't chase them away, too.)  But and your crew don't fall in that category, and this will be the last of your inane posts I will subject myself to.

Talk about stench. Just read your very own posts.

Can we bring the board back to the true reason for the board

Can we get the political board back to the true purpose of this board – to share opinions of why we like our candidate.  Not bash and cut down others because they don’t agree with you.

I stayed away from this board for the past couple days because anyone who had anything positive to say about Sarah Palin got slammed, bashed, kicked down, etc.  After awhile I found it all too draining, and was not seeing any reason to come.  Yes, I did see some of it towards people who favored Barack Obama, but if you read the posts again it is mostly towards anyone who favored Sarah Palin/John McCain.

I thought the political board was for posting information regarding politics and candidates.  What I have seen for the past few days is that it has been an attack board.  Especially if you have anything positive you want to share about Sarah Palin.  You say something good about her and you get attacked, you answer back, and you get attacked more, and then when you get mad and pretty much say stop attacking me, they come back with this “Geez, I’m allowed to have an opinion”.

Another thing I am tired of seeing is the slanderous, hate filled, really off the wall comments about Sarah Palin.  The latest was something about her daughter actually had her baby.  Talk about just bizarre comments.  I thought what’s next, she’s an alien from another planet?  The more I kept reading the more the comments were getting just really weird and bizarre.  Of course nobody ever having any proof of any of these allegations.  I then came to realize that the posters were just trying to get a fight going.

I also saw posts that had nothing to do with politics but attacking a poster named Sam.  Again, probably trying to get another fight going for no good reason and on things that have nothing to do whatsoever with politics.  I’ve read “Sam is like an annoying nat that you sway away”, “Sam, please let me know where you work” or “she must have her quota” or “sam is to the politics board as oracle is to the”  This childish rhetoric is getting old.  I’m not defending sam she is a big girl and I can see by her posts she can take care of herself, but my point is that this has nothing to do with politics.  If you want a fight maybe you could request that the administrator create a separate “fight and degrade” section.

I’ve read the administrators post a couple different times called Beware of Flaming.  She/he said as long as we realize that not everyone is going to agree we shouldn’t wear our feelings on our sleeves and a little more oversight on here would be good.  Let people express his or her opinion and move on.  If you don’t like someone just ignore that person. “It’s not rocket science, you know” (I liked that statement)

I consider posting on this board a privilege and not a right.  If you don’t agree with something and you post that you don’t agree and state the facts why (and are civilized about it) that’s one thing, but when you bash and degrade others without showing proof and just want to start fights and belittle others it just seems a bit juvenile to me.

I come to the politics board to hear ideas and stuff (facts) about the candidates.  That is how I’m learning about each one, but I don’t want to read people attack other posters for no good reason.  I'd like to hear about Obama/Biden & McCain/Palin, but I want to hear facts.

If you like to fight so much why don’t you pick on people that you can fight to face to face.

Your on the wrong board - you need to preach on the faith board
You just delivered a sermon (or quote). Either way it doesn't belong here. What does this have to do with politics. The democrat and republican party did not start up until after the 1800s. Socialism also wasn't created until the 1800s.

To me your post describes the way humans should treat other humans. This has nothing to do with politics - imho.

Because you posted on the Main board not Politics board.
It was removed, as we do not have an option of moving from Main to Politics.

This could have easily been avoided had you posted on the correct board.

The response from another poster to not post political viewpoints on this board was becuase you posted it on the Main board.
the conservative board is a liberal board now
you all aren't happy until you infect everyone out there with your hatred.   It's not something I'd very proud of.
How do you know they haven't?

That's the whole point.  Bush acts like a dictator in complete privacy.  Of course nobody can name names because this president thinks he can spy on whoever he wants without ever telling the person.

The sooner they impeach him, the safer this country will be.

No I haven't
but I'll try to remember to check it out.

At church last week our preacher had just gotten up to preach and he had just told us to turn to a Bible verse. So we all looked down to turn to the verse and when we looked up he was gone. Apparently he had stepped through the side door to go get a drink of water. Of course he came back out two minutes later, but someone made the joke that the rapture had come and he was the only one taken. It was pretty funny. Of course if it had really happened we'd have all of been with him (well hopefully, as I'm sure you know there are people in church who aren't really Christians!)
No, I haven't but
I'm seriously considering it...on a local level, of course, where I'm qualified.  If I were younger............
I haven't seen that but I have seen others
There are just some very strange people in this country who think nothing of putting themselves on youtube giving their opinions (no matter what the subject). In today's world I would never ever put my face out for all to see stating my opinion. On this board is one thing (and even then I'm always concerned about what I post and who is watching it), but sometimes it's best to keep ones feelings to oneselves, especially if it is negative. The thought police are out there and you just never know what will come back at you for the worst.
I haven't seen her lately
When the election was going on (still when Hillary was running against Obama) and even shortly after the primaries ended I really enjoyed her. I thought she was level headed and brought out some good discussions and issues, but then towards the end of the election (maybe a couple weeks before 11/4) I found her starting to become opinionated and she jumped down someones throat about something that I thought she was clearly wrong on. She just became irritating and got under my skin a bit. I also really used to like Keith Olberman, but his coverage of the election was so unfair and between Keith and Rachel I just found them opinionated and not reporting facts and stuff so I kind of lost interest. Maybe I should try watching them again. It's funny about Hannity and Colmes. I cannot stand Hannity. He's just too uppity and goody two shoes and even D Morris would tell him stop focusing on certain issues and report on the other important ones and he doesn't listen. He annoys the you know what out of me. But Colmes...this guy is a crack up. I used to not be able to stand him. Now I enjoy listening to him. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but I'll listen. I can take him a lot more than the others because he doesn't gloat about the O winning whereas the others do.

So I'll have to catch her show again and see if she's gotten better. Thanks for reminding me about her.

I'll tell you...if Bush is able to pardon himself....I think there is going to be a huge uproar. Mind as well just let the criminals decide what punishment they should get.
I haven't seen that.........sm
and don't know when it was made, but you can bet your bottom dollar that at the time it was made, that statement was probably meant to be comic relief.  The average US citizen would have laughed at such a statement prior to this presidential election.
sorry, no they haven't......
There is tons of pork barrel in that package. Even the moderate democrats are sickened by all the crap in there and refuse to pass it. Obama must have forgotten the part where he said absolutely no pork barrel spending! Yea, right!
I haven't seen any
poll takers out asking mainstream America their opinion, only the fabricating media and perverted judges telling us how wonderful homosexuality is. The rest of America finds the act of homosexuality deplorable. ;-)
Really? You haven't?

Just to take the first point:  How about a speech he gave in 2008 which he criticized the US because most of us speak one measly language, while Europeans often speak 2 or 3?  There is actually a pretty good reason for that, by the way.  A person could drive in Europe a distance equal to the trip from Cincinnati to Chicago and pass through several countries.  Some countries even have several dialects. Many European countries are tiny.  Being multilingual in Europe is very practical.  America is huge and people a couple of thousand miles away can understand one another in a single language, from youse guys to y'all.

I don't remember ever hearing a US president or presidential candidate publicly criticize his country the way this one has (well, maybe Kerry).  And of course our foreign critics simply lap it up.  I think Michelle Obama has some foreign language skills, but I've got to wonder in what second and third languages Barack himself is fluent.  Surely he must be.....

I was unable to find the full text/location/date of the speech I am referring to, but here's a link to an article on it.  Sorry, it does seem to be an piece that is overall critical of the great man, but then the mainstream would probably not have mentioned this at all

http://www.libertylounge.net/forums/32918-obama-again-shows-how-out-touch.html

Oh, by the way, no spam file, I wrote it.  Whether or not you find it witty, it's the way I view O's public criticism of the US, as though we are a collection of bumpkins he's stuck with and trying desperately to fix up.

Hey! Haven't seen you in a while...nm
x
Politics board = political topics. Faith board = religious topics.

Please keep all religious/faith topics and discussions on the Faith board.  This would involve your beliefs, whether Christian or atheist, etc.

The Politics board is strictly for political topics and discussions.

What makes you think they haven't.
/
I haven't been here that long but
long enough to see clearly how immaturely they operate.  PHEW!
Then you haven't been listening.

I have seen at least four conservatives express concerns about Bush on several occasions, and they even elucidated them. Of course, you would have to take off those blinders to see them but you aren't about to do that.  What a joke.  As far as your remarks about racisms, I consider your remarks extremely racist.  And never mind the fact that black Americans, one of whom was quoted here, are also defending Bennett.  Their voices don't count because they must be Uncle Tom's, right.  AGAIN, a racist way of thinking.

You are so right. I haven't posted here
for this very reason. Certain posters (you know who you are) will come here to bash posts even when they are addressed to liberals. Apparently it doesn't matter to them that the moderator has repeatedly asked them not to do so and they can't seem to resist the urge to come over to this board when, in fact, they have their own. They've done it to me, they've done it to PK and others. Good luck to you...it's too bad, 'cause they ruin the discussion for everyone else and it gets to the point where it just isn't worth it.
obviously you haven't seen Sicko
good god i wish we had it like France. Not sure what Canadians you are talking to but the ones i've seen are afraid to come to the US because of our health care system, "what if" an accident occurs in the US? and just maybe we DO need a waiting period for certain things. I know plenty of people that run to the doctor for every little thing. Maybe if they give their bodies a chance to heal itself instead of expecting to get antibiotics every time we might have less cases of MRSA. it's what drives up the cost of insurance and health care in general
At least we haven't been attacked
again on our soil....if tricky Billy Clinton did HIS job while in office, Bin Laden would have been taken care of and 9/11 would have never happened.  Happy anniversary to you.  Bush is far from perfect but we have been safe at home.
haven't roosted yet

but baby there will be a big, big party in Jan when they do!

I would venture to say, you haven't; you just
wanted to stop searching because it was leading to too many things that didn't look good for Obama.

yeah i haven't either
a friend of mine was called, they were trying to persuade her to vote for obama. Apparently they got an earful. LOL....

PS... My family is voting for McCain too...
I haven't researched but

I would imagine it is $250,000 on the bottom line profit since that is what we all pay taxes on.  I agree that a business with a gross income of $250,000 is not all that much, as a rule of thumb, probably $125,000 net.  On the other hand if it is $250,000 NET that's a pretty darn good income and I say they could well afford to pay a few measly dollars so those making a net of say $25,000 could have a little relief. But the middle or lower class workers are going to get NO relief because the big businesses are going to protect their greed and the small businesses have to raise their prices to survive.  Example:  We ate at a family owned restaurant the other night.  Sirloin steak was $17.95 the last time we ate there was $21.95.  The owner posted a sign apologizing for the price increases but said he didn't have any choice if he was going to stay in business because of his wholesale prices going up.  THANKS Bush and big oil.

Haven't you voted YET?
What are you waiting for?
I haven't heard anyone besides me say .....sm
good grief Gertie in a LONG time! hahahaha
I haven't voted yet.

I'm planning on hitting the polls a little later this morning.  Not too concerned about lines as our polling place is in a small town.

Gee Sam...wonder who you voted for.  LOL!  Go McCain/Palin!!!

Oh believe me I haven't given up hope
I'm just not liking the way things are beginning to shape up.  Some people are so hung up on McCain/Palin they can't get over it to see what is happenening.  That will accomplish nothing.  We need to be working on things we might be able to change, such as starting a protest with our Congressmen/women letting them know even before O takes office (and despite those who think they're still going to get McCain) he will take office.  When he announces the appointment of Hillary Clinton I will kiss my "hope" in him goodbye.
There is nothing there I haven't heard
As I said, if this guy is so horrid, there has to be more than the same tired opinions about him than we have heard repeatedly for the last 2 years. As you said, thousands of people agree with these opinions, but millions of people voted for Obama. I didn't, in part because I was convinced there was something that hadn't been dug up yet. Now, I am not so sure. Everyone keeps blowing smoke, but no one has found the fire. Maybe there just isn't one.
Haven't you noticed?
The posts about your so-called disaster sat up there all day yesterday and elicited next to nothing in the way of response. Noise on Focks and related subjects, like alien spaceships, come from the parallel universe and hardly qualify as real news. The only interest you will see there will be coming from the zombies marking lock-step behind the propaganda machine.

haven't been following this discussion at all BUT
isn't that calling the kettle black? I only clicked on this message cause it was the latest posted one... and after reading it i go... um excuse me... did you EVER given the current administration a break? for ANYTHING? And i dont want to hear they did this and this and this and this. that's fine, people were against them from the beginning too. This happens on BOTH sides, why doesn't everyone agree that there are hypocrites on each side!!! that is hypocritical in itself when you ALWAYS point fingers at the other side! Differing opinions is one thing, but to say that the RIGHT cant give this government a break? Well that's because they OPPOSE what it is they stand for! just like the left opposes what the right stands for!!!!
Always do. Haven't used a cc in 3 years now.

You're not opposed Citigroup using bailout money to sponsor the inauguration?

IOW, you were for the financials getting bailout money and then letting them do whatever they wanted to do with it? Like hosting great parties, spa resorts, etc?

I have always been against the bailout and I'm still against letting the financials use the money as if it's a free handout. They don't have to pay it back. WE do.

Now, O is trying to get Congress give them MORE? No way.  Not without lots of stipulations.

Haven't forgotten that, but...(sm)

I also haven't forgotten what Clinton did to try to go after terrorists and how Bush managed to put all that work on a shelf.

http://www.truthout.org/article/clinton-911-and-facts

Just think, while Clinton was trying to work on all this, all you guys could do was worry about where his peter was.
