I notice you still have not tackled the crux of the post. Care to analyze the article beyond how you can twist it only to the extent that it supports your viewpoint? What about that FDIC reference? Got a clue what FDIC funds are? Since they represent the bulk of the trillions figure batted around in the article, it would help advance YOUR argument if you understood what they are and how they have nothing to do with the stimulus plan. How about the point raised about what would happen if they confiscated all those FDIC funds and paid off those mortgages? Can you say run on the banks? Back to the drawing board. Go figure.

Back in the real world we have a Black Friday that has turned deadly with Walmart stampedes and Toys R Us shootouts, a death toll nearing 200 in Mumbai terrorist attacks, the Obama administration security team about to be revealed, an ADDITIONAL 800 billion dollar bail out being flushed down the bottomless black hole that is the US financial sector, while at the same time, no bail out in sight for consumers, 600 billion dollars being pumped into backing mortgage securities, a plan that seems to favor the banks over the home owners, a back-burnered obstacle course for the Big 3 bail out and scores of other pertinent and interesting subjects for discussion. Yet here we are...day 3 or 4 (I've lost count), mired down in this bog of BC blather.
This discussion has advanced from the sublime to the ridiculous. We now have posters who, with a perfectly straight face, are trying to orchestrate an ill-advised, exhortative grass roots movement to dump thousands upon thousands of our hard-earned dollars to bolster this mob-mentality driven, collectively delusional, pathologic attempt to unseat our country's President-Elect. This, despite the fact that no amount of frivolous law suits is going to affect the ultimate outcome of this fool's folly. It take a whole lot of gall to justify begging for financial backing for such a ludicrous, self-serving agenda to nowhere.

We need to stop imposing the way we live on them. They don't hate us because of our freedom. That is absurd. When have you ever heard them say we hate you because you are free? Never. What they have been saying is "Don't tell us how we should live". "Don't tell us we need to have the same type of government that America has", and they also say "We don't need the Americans designing our own countries flag" and that is why they hate us. They are their own country. It is not right for us to go in and say you need to live the way we do, your government needs to be run the way ours is. How would we like it if they came and said "Were invading America and your going to conform to the way we live because "its' the right way" or "god has told me this is the way it's suppose to be". No, we wouldn't like it one bit. Every country lives differently. We need to stop dictating how other countries should live.

You asked about the values of liberals, so here goes ... at least from this liberal's perspective. I value people's inherent ability to make decisions about their own lives, barring medical issues preventing same (i.e., mental incapacity). I live by the Golden Rule. I value the choice for people to practice whichever faith they choose ... or none at all ... and really mean it! I accept people and their differences from the "norm". I believe 2 consenting adults with the required mental capacity should be allowed to marry - with no litmus test. And I sure don't care what people do in their own bedrooms as long as it is between consenting adults. Most importantly, I value the principles set forth by the Constitution of the United States since, first and foremost, I am an American.

I admire your fortitude MT ME - I had to turn off my TV about a year ago. I keep up with Faux News on the Newshounds website but that's as close as I can stand to get, lol. I am hoping hard for the early successful launch of Independent World Television (no corporate funding or advertising and it'll be coming from Canada)but that's a ways off. I totally miss 24-hour NEWS like CNN was when it first started. Thank God for blogs!

If the woes of the lower class working stiffs could be fixed, they'd have been fixed already. A Democrat has been in office along enough in the last 40 years to do that, but it never gets done. Not in 8 yrs of Clinton, or anybody before him. You know why? Because the plight of the poor isn't the government's fault. It's not the rich man's fault either. But nobody wants to say what the problem is for fear of hurting somebody's feelings. Or better yet, if they problem were actually fixed, who would the Democrats get to vote for them? I have asked this question before and did not get any answers, thought I would try again. On another board I got slammed for saying Obama was a liberal. Okay, if he is not, why isn't he? I don't want a dictionary definition, I would like to know, you who post here, how do you define liberal? How do you define yourselves, your political leaning...I am NOT trying to pick a fight, and I will not comment on the answers. I would really, really like to know, and what better place to find out than the liberal board?

That's about it, actually. That would be me. I can echo liberal democrat's sentiments too other than the democrat part. In my opinion only, "Leftist" is a term applied to people who do not agree with all conservative views, and is applied by conservatives. I would consider some of my views conservative, such as my own views on illegal immigration and fiscal responsibility, yet I have been called a leftist. Go figure.... They seem to think it is an insult I suppose.

As to *leftist,* I thought, and maybe mistakenly...applied to the far left wing of the Democratic party. I also thought, and apparently mistakenly...that Democrats were liberals...and obviously that is not true, because I was jumped on by referring to Obama as a liberal. I would be interested to know what about Obama does not classify him as liberal...
