In Reply to: Never miss a chance to slam the Dems, do you? - Our party is doing just fine by us. nm

I stand with the Dem stand on abortion (for it), the Dem stand on spending (social programs are out of control, surely anyone could see that), I said I could not vote for them. It is the party platform. You think stating the party platform is a slam?? Just because I said I could not vote for a hard line Democrat is not a slam. I would not vote for a pro-choice Republican either. In that case, I WOULD have to abstain from voting.

And I did say I loved Zell Miller. He is a democrat, like many members of my family. Old school conservative Democrats. Believe it or not, they still exist. And yes, their party has left them behind on its march to the far left. That is not a slam, it is a fact.

By the way, I am not a registered Republican (except in primaries so I can vote in them). I am a registered Independent. I feel just like the rest of my family...only it is the Republicans who are leaving me behind. There is no slam in that. That is why I said I could not vote for a hard line Democrat. A Zell Miller or an old-school conservative Democrat...or an Independent who shared my values and believes in a strong national defense...you betcha.

Lemme see....
You can't say "no comment" in front of the grand jury. They frown on that. And lying in front of the grand jury is...ummm...felony perjury. A crime in all 50 states. Did he do 1 second of time for that? Face trial for that? Uhh...no. He put himself above the law and Congress let him by with it. Shame on all of them. As to what he did behind closed doors sexually...not sure the hall in the White House is really behind closed doors but will let that comment slide. As to Bush's "ignorant" comments and actions...here are a few of Clinton's: "Did you smoke marijuana?" "Yes, but I didn't inhale." LOL. "I did not have sex with that woman Ms. Lewinsky." Yeah right. Ignorant actions? Bombed an aspirin factory. U go Bill. Let's not even talk about all the shady Chinese deals, shall we?? Oh, and lest we forget, the hail mary pardons as he went out of office...take a look at that list some time if you want to talk about ignorant actions. That is more embarrassing/damaging that ANYthing Bush ever did. And, frankly, Bill Clinton personifies both cocky AND disgusting. Let us not forget the famous cigar/Monica thing. Talk about DISGUSTING, I don't care how many doors you are behind. Iccckkkkkkkkk.
Lemme tell ya
I don't hold much with "prominent religious leaders!"
Lemme get this straight...

Those who cannot afford any insurance at all will get "Cadillac" plans (that's what fed employees receive) underwritten by the rest of us?!  Meanwhile we continue to pay out the nose for our crappy policies, which will be less than the "Cadillac" plans, while we are paying for the ne'er do wells' "Cadillac" coverage?

That's not the kind of "change" most of us want, although I can certainly see why the recipients of this "handout" would think it's a great deal!!!

so lemme get this straight
you know absolutely, because you can see into someone else's soul, that no one has inner peace but you. Lemme guess: You know this because (all together now) -- it says so in the bible.

It's this kind of sentiment that actually does invite ridicule. That you think even though there are philosophies, doctrines & religions far older & more complex, and at least as beautiful (at least, in the form I imagine Jesus would actually want to lend his name to), yours is the only one that can provide inner peace? Wow. Generations of yogis, rebbes, & every other religious contemplative, scholar, thinker, believer & philosopher have entirely missed the boat, I guess.

Pshaw. The godhead "speaks" all languages, & spiritual belief (not to be confused with religion) is the language of the godhead. Christianity is only one of these. All are capable of enlightenment, truth, & inner peace. It's an ability to see the bigger picture & recognize that the godhead does not only speak "Christian" that separates those with the potential for enlightenment, including among Christians, from the narrow, elitist, cartoon version of a religion that the man, Jesus, would be truly dismayed over.
