I was watching tv last night and saw several commercials for various "tax relief" companies/attorneys who claimed that they could help tax payers negotiate a lower tax with the IRS, thereby eliminating the majority of their tax burden. Some of these were likely superinflated examples (owe 3M, pay 1M), but I have to wonder, if our income taxes are supposed to be a major factor in financing our government, why is this allowed to happen? Why are some people (those who are financially able to employ suce a company) allowed to dodge the lion's portion of their income taxes while the rest of us poor schmucks have to pay through the nose and can't even get a lousy deduction here and there because we "make too much money"??????

By the way, that $250K figure is already down to $200K, so the initial figure was less than true, and there is nothing to say it will stop there. You want to "what and see." I say "look at the track record of what he has said and what he has then said differently." And Obama is not saying health care will be available to everyone. Did you see the physician last night who said that some people would not get the extended or multiple ICU stays because they are just too costly, that sometimes it is better to just take the pain pill and leave it at that, in other words just die. What do you think he meant by that, cuz I know what that meant to me. Did you notice Obama did not actually the questions about end of life care, simply saying that there would be problems to address? did you see how he danced around the question about what kind of care he would provide for his wife and children instead of actually answering it?
They already ARE allowed to stay silent. That's the irony of this.
It's just one crazy loon who wants to foist HIS version of the world on the rest of us, which is no better than ramming religion down a person's throat. What about those who wish to say the pledge, now they can't. It was better the way it was... Say it if you want, don't say it if you don't want to. That way everybody has the freedom to choose.

jumping in on my post about voting for Obama though did you? I am not really nasty. At all. Also, I am not the top anything at my church. I will pray for you, because you do need it even though you think that you dont. I came in your conversation because I felt that I should. True Christians today need to stand up for our belief in Jesus and not worry about what others may think of it. The truth needs to be out because there will be a time when everyone will have to answer for their beliefs. I am not going to stand before God at judgment and have him ask me why I didnt speak up for his son at the times that I could have. My post is not nasty, it just goes against what most people want to believe. People dont want to hear that they are not living right or that they will not go to heaven just because they are "good." That is not the popular thing to say these days. But every Christian who allows people they come into contact with believe that without telling them Jesus's message, they will be held accountable and I will not be one of them I hope and pray.

Laws affect everyone. They don't want "rights"...they have rights. They just want to change laws to somehow prove they are legitimate, as if the fact they are human doesn't make them a legitimate human being already? I have every right to make it my business when they want to change the laws to suit their lifestyle.

and didn't mean to imply that that was why you were backing McCain, but there are a lot of people on both sides that will vote his way now that he has a woman on the ticket and there are people that will vote Obama because he is African American. I think it is ridiculous just to vote for someone for those reasons, regardless of any thing about them, but a lot of people will. Either way, this will be a historic election - We'll either have an African American Pres. or a woman VP.
I don't know enough about her yet and it is too bad she is with McCain, because I really don't like him. I did read somewhere just a minute ago that a while ago she said she had no idea what the VP does (many of us don't), so if Rep. win hopefully she will make some changes to what Cheney has done, or what he hasn't done.
At least now maybe I won't have to hear the #1 Republican anti-Obama slogan of he doesn't have enough experience, but Palin doesn't either.

First, this is not an attempt to attack or belittle Obama...
but he said before he went that it was not a "political" trip, because that would be "inappropriate." Yet his campaign people put political posters up at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Of course it was political. Can't we just be honest about things? On both sides.
And to be fair...the American media as a whole wouldn't cover McCain right now unless he keeled over and died...and THAT is sad. I am not a big McCain fan, but the bias is astounding.
And as far as the dairy aisle in a grocery store...at least he is talking to Americans. They ARE, after all, running for Presiden of the United States...not President of Europe. Just an observation.
Last but not least...it is concerning to me that Obama was going to visit Landstuhl and wounded troops...and at last minute canceled because it would be "inappropriate." I don't get that, to be honest. It is appropriate to talk to the German people in a political speech, but not to visit wounded American troops...when is it ever inappropriate to visit wounded American troops? I honestly don't get that one.
Obviously I am not an Obama fan either. Going to be one of those lesser of two evils years for me. :-)

Obama is not the only one front and center that people are excited about...and if these folks think the PUMA folks are going to fall into line because the DNC tells them to....they have another think coming. No politician's child has ever been "hauled around and raised by a succession of nannies". You've been watching too many movies. Maybe in the past (like the 1800s) a child has had a nanny with them but not a succession of them. Had to laugh at that one.
Next, her family is with her. Sorry guess you don't consider her husband (the father of this child) to be somebody important enough to be with them.
This is not political ambition for her. She wasn't out there going at it day after day after day like Barack, Hillary, Biden & McCain. Her name was one of many that they were looking at. It was a job interview just like other jobs (just a bit more prestigious). I guess then if you go apply for a job you better think about it if you have kids before you put your ambitions before them.
Lastly and most importantly by doing this she IS putting the needs of her child first. As VP she will be able to make the decisions and vote on the issues that will make the country a better place for her children (all of them - not just her special needs child). That to me is putting her children way before herself.
