Don't need to see any documents. We all know this is true and
now that Bush has released 4 of 30 pages, still dribs and drabs, it pretty much says confirms what we all see and read every day. I get the BBC and some Canadian papers to try to get a larger perspective on things and from these sources (and others) my conclusion is what it has always been. It was a mistake then, it is a mistake now and it always will be a mistake.

They "double speak" in the documents. Things like - "It is totally voluntary, everyone ages 18-25 WILL serve. This is something they are required to do as a citizen, total voluntary, and will make them better citizens". I may be off by one or two words but if you pull up youtube and type in Rahm Emanuel mandatory service there are a few different videos you can watch. It's also in the bills they passed. They are just calling it something different than the military because it's easier to hide it that way. Which by the way, once your child signs the papers and has had their basic training there is nothing that will stop them from being called to go fight in a war - after all "its their patriotic duty", oh and they shouldn't ever complain about it either.
I'll tell you, it's turning into a very scary country and I'm wondering if anyone in WA has a backbone anymore.

True Christians today need to stand up for our belief in Jesus and not worry about what others may think of it. The truth needs to be out because there will be a time when everyone will have to answer for their beliefs. I am not going to stand before God at judgment and have him ask me why I didnt speak up for his son at the times that I could have. My post is not nasty, it just goes against what most people want to believe. People dont want to hear that they are not living right or that they will not go to heaven just because they are "good." That is not the popular thing to say these days. But every Christian who allows people they come into contact with believe that without telling them Jesus's message, they will be held accountable and I will not be one of them I hope and pray.

and didn't mean to imply that that was why you were backing McCain, but there are a lot of people on both sides that will vote his way now that he has a woman on the ticket and there are people that will vote Obama because he is African American. I think it is ridiculous just to vote for someone for those reasons, regardless of any thing about them, but a lot of people will. Either way, this will be a historic election - We'll either have an African American Pres. or a woman VP.
I don't know enough about her yet and it is too bad she is with McCain, because I really don't like him. I did read somewhere just a minute ago that a while ago she said she had no idea what the VP does (many of us don't), so if Rep. win hopefully she will make some changes to what Cheney has done, or what he hasn't done.

It is as American as apple pie to challenge close election results and certainly is not a phenomenon confined to the blue side of the aisle. In fact, a fixed recount was the ONLY way W was able to slither into office in 2000 (can you say hanging chads?).

So far, all I can see is that sam does not understand the basic concepts of socialism, Marxism, tax cuts and tax credits. Tax cuts are a reduction in taxes, based on lowering a tax rate. You cannot reduce a rate on tax in the absence of tax due. Tax credits for the most part are paid against TAXES DUE. The 2 exceptions in the US are the earned income tax credit and the child tax credit
So show me where Obama has said that his tax credit would be a refundable/non-wastable credit. Also, naturally, I am still waiting for sam's answer to my original question on how it is that progressive tax reform is only socialist when it is Obama reform but no other president who has reformed the tax structure is a socialist? Please answer that question and the one about the refundable tax credit. Direct answers would be very much appreciated.

I was on vacation when the posts were made, but a friend of mine copied them and sent them to me. They were no exactly death threats, but under a post wishing President Bush Happy Birthday, there were two posts saying something to the effect that they hoped Bush died and burned in hell. Also, every single thing you accuse conservatives of in this long post, every SINGLE thing, has been committed on this board by liberals. You might also notice that most of the conservative posters have stopped coming over here, something the liberal posters have not been able to do, as their drive-by postings still appear sporadically and predictably.
