No debates, true...but townhall meetings are not debates....

and it is true that Barack refused all of them. I think it had to do with the format of a town hall meeting. Just my opinion...

She will do well at the debates s/m

I believe she described herself last night as a "pit bull in lipstick."  Biden is already at a disadvantage, he doesn't wear lipstick.  She'll walk all over him.  He is also a pit bull but  they aren't on equal footing.  She's a female. Enter McCain's plan to take the election.

I'm sure there will be, after the debates. nm

post debates

since your first post you have attacked liberals and liberal ideology.  either you are a neocon or an unhappy liberal.  either way, post positive things and I and others will respond..post debates and I and others will debate..dont come on this board and attack..

I can't wait for the debates...sm
And yeah...I agree Hillary lost her thunder when it became evident she was robbing Peter to pay Paul.

can't wait for the debates

A constitutional lawyer is pretty . . . good . . . in debates.

Correction...about 22 debates....nm

I don't see why the debates should be canceled.
They are a big deal and I would think now both of them would want us to know where they stand, how they can do under pressure, etc. Bush debated in time of war. Reagan debated in time of war.

I'm not bashing him or calling him chicken as it has been implied. I just think now is the perfect time to hear from the people who are supposed to represent us, especially considering one of them is going to be the next President. Postponing them is not going to help the economy at all, if anything it is just going to cause more speculation, which I personally am tired of - on both sides.

I wish he would extend that halting campaign thing to all of the commercials. I could certainly live with a break from all of those - on both sides. Thank God for DVR and recording everything, I can just forward them. :)
He said this during the debates - I hear him -
Obama said then that things he wanted to do would have to slow down and take a different timetable because of the economic conditions. That he knew choices would have to be made on what could go forward when.
Who's been having *nice debates* here this week?

When you people bring your rudeness to this board, it's never nice.

I'd like to hear from one liberal poster here on the LIBERAL BOARD who thinks you are nice.

are you really that afraid of open debates you need to
reduce yourself to name-calling?

I am unsure who to vote for but one thing I know is it will be for whoever is going to make my life better.

Democrats might tax but the taxes go toward social programs, libraries, schools, afterschool programs, playgrounds, all of which are almost nonexistent where I live now since the last 8 years. Rich people walk around here like they are royalty, they pay no taxes and have no care or interest I helping those less fortunate, spare the very few who do.

the more I see on TV and the more I read on boards like these it seems to me republicans are afraid of democrats. when you see Bush sneering and snickering (many examples on youtube) he is not doing that towards democrats, he is laughing behind the backs of all the republicans who believe his lies. I think the joke is actually on the republicans more than democrats.

I have never seen such people be taken advantage of, and love it so much.

send your children off to war to die, give up all your social programs, take more out of your pocket, all so the rich people can slither around this country at their will with no responsibility toward it. that is left to the poor and the nonwhites.

I am starting to see the bigger picture here, I think Republicans do not believe in social programs because of greed, because no one should be able to make money unless you have the right skin color. Say, how many blacks in Alaska, anyway?

lets all lie down and just die for the rich republicans. here, take my money, my children, my hopes and dreams, my pride - just take it all and make sure to give me absolutely nothing back. Right on!
That's the best suggestion I have heard yet regarding the debates. nm
NM
We will see on Friday. No teleprompters at debates. nm
.
We've been having nice debates over there this week
and I know gt enough to know she couldn't be hounded of a maximum security prison shower. I personally don't command anyone to leave unless they are childish enough to start calling people losers or other names like that.
No debates yet because neither one has been officially nominated as the candidate! nm

Debates---sara palin looks terrified!!
Alaska!!! I don't even know where Joe Biden is from and I don't care!!!
Just peeked in on the Conservative board, looking for some *nice debates*

All I saw were you guys *applause applause*-ing each other and the usual ragging on all liberals.  Then I saw ONE courageous soul who attempted to debate with you, followed by the usual and customary *stay off the board* warnings to the poster.

So it seems you guys consider nice debate as ganging up and attacking posters who disagree with you.

Maybe that's the problem here.  We view nice debate in two different ways.

We view it as being nice to other posters and not personally attacking those who disagree with us.  We don't claim to know what they are thinking and feeling in their minds and hearts, and we find those who insist on being nasty to others very distasteful and crude.  We don't LIKE to act the way that you neocons act.  We'd rather be friendly and civilized. That's why you're not welcome here.  It's not because of what you believe.  It's because you are unable to act like decent human beings, and you don't know how to treat other people.

If I remember correctly, in the debates he said he would be happy to pay more taxes.

Town hall meetings
Did Bush have town hall meetings with Gore? Kerry? Clinton with HW Bush? Dole? Reagan with Mondale? what's the big deal here? Aren'tthe nationally televised debates enough. Just because he declined town hall meetings with McCain does not in any way mean he "snubbed" New Orleans. Ridiculous. This is a non-issue.
Secret meetings, bribes of

high power positions, media cartels, dead rabbits . . . kin I play the lead in your mind-movie?

Actually, McCain was in financial meetings all morning....sm
and what I read on CNN is that McCain wasn't told of the content of Obama's first call. I can't find the link to it now, because their news keeps changing.

I believe McCain decided this on his own, without any input from Obama, or even knowing about the call.

I'm willing to bet that he won't give a darn if he loses the debate if he doesn't show up, as it sounds as if Obama refuses to cancel the debate to another time.

Just proves to me that McCain does, indeed, put the country first. He's acting like a true leader.

Judging by some of the prior town meetings

1.  Gimme a house.

2.  Make my boss pay me more (than I'm worth).

3.  Gimme.

4.  Gimme.

5.  Fix everything for me.

This is more the behavior of subjects toward a monarch than citizens toward a president.  Thanks, think I'll just stay home and improve my own life.

I don't believe Obama doesn't want town hall meetings....
because of the format...not to snub any particular town. He does not do when the questions are not scripted. No one knows what is going to be asked at a town hall meeting, and they are asked by regular folks, not paid commentators. Not enough control to suit Mr. Obama. I don't blame him. He doesn't have the experience to handle one, he would come off looking bad and he knows it. Politics 101. You would think, though, as much as he talks about hope and change and the people, he wouldn't mind answering a few questions from the people...?
Abramoff Attended staff-level meetings at Bush White House
White House Silent on Abramoff Meetings

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2006

(AP) The White House is refusing to reveal details of tainted lobbyist Jack Abramoff's visits with President Bush's staff.

Abramoff had a few staff-level meetings at the Bush White House, presidential spokesman Scott McClellan said Tuesday. But he would not say with whom Abramoff met, which interests he was representing or how he got access to the White House.

Since Abramoff pleaded guilty two weeks ago to conspiracy, mail fraud and tax evasion charges in an influence-peddling scandal, McClellan has told reporters he was checking into Abramoff's meetings. I'm making sure that I have a thorough report back to you on that, he said in his press briefing Jan. 5. And I'll get that to you, hopefully very soon.

McClellan said Tuesday that he checked on it at reporters' requests, but wouldn't discuss the private staff-level meetings. We are not going to engage in a fishing expedition, he said.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, along with three other Democratic senators, wrote Bush a letter Tuesday asking for an accounting of Abramoff's personal contacts with Bush administration officials and acts that may have been undertaken at his request. The American people need to be assured that the White House is not for sale, they wrote.

McClellan has said Abramoff attended three Hanukkah receptions at the White House, but corrected himself Tuesday to say there were only two _ in 2001 and 2002.

McClellan said Bush does not know Abramoff personally, although it's possible the two met at the holiday receptions.

Abramoff was one of Bush's top fundraisers, having brought in at least $100,000 for the Bush-Cheney '04 re-election campaign and earning the honorary title pioneer. The campaign took $6,000 of the contributions _ which came directly from Abramoff, his wife and one of the Indian tribes he represented _ and donated it to the American Heart Association. But the campaign has not returned the rest of the money Abramoff raised.

That's true - and Barack Obama is a true Patriot too.
Again we can agree to disagree. How John McCain has voted goes against everything I want as a President, but there are an equal number of people to me who feel opposite. That's the way it goes.

Your last comment brought to mind how true that is. Being a true patriot is not harmful in a candidate. John McCain is a patriot. So is Barack Obama.
Everything you said is true and can be

easily seen by just reading the board.

At least it can be seen by most of us.

But it IS true.
I saw a feature on it. They had videotapes of the recruiters coaching the kids on how to pass a urine drug screen.  It is absolutely true.
I don't think that is true at all. sm
I think a lot of people are pretty sick of Cindy and her histrionics.  I don't see it as political at all.  A lot of people aren't going to sit by this time for another Vietnam where the antiwar crowd totally influenced the way the war was run.
Not true. sm
They are pro troops and pro Israel.  You are definitely not reading that board right. Is it the guns that offend you?  Or the war with Islamic radicals who all want us dead?  I mean, what EXACTLY offends you the most?
LOL!!! Oh how true! nm

Not true
Re-upped?  He joined the military because all his friends did.  Read Cindy's description of how he got hoodwinked into going.  Re-upped?  No.
LOL. I like that...so true...nm
When in doubt, blame Clinton.
the true me
Happy and peaceful but when I deal with rabid conservatives attacking me..I attack back..Happy and peaceful in my life and in my beliefs, you bet, totally..I can sleep well at night cause I know my ideology/politics help people, I help people..I am an extremely happy peaceful accepting person..However, when I get attacked, I can give as good as I get..I do have to say, the net does not show the true person, so I dont see the true you and you dont see the true me..I have met people who I have only known in the net and when we met, we became friends..So I would take with a grain of salt the impression you get of people over the net..we are much more..
So true sm
That clip would be hilarious if it were not so true.  It is frightening how true it is.
It's true. SM
I remember Nan talking about it.  It was way way back when some of us used to put our e-mails on line here.
This is SO true.nm
nm
True that is.
Lesson good.
Even if that was true (and I don't believe it is), so what?

The one thing the radical right wing HATES is the fact that we have freedom of religion in this country.  We are all free (so far, anyway) to believe in whatever religion we choose.  It might be Christianity, or it might be something else.  Why does it even concern YOU how many Democrats are Christian?  It's simply none of your business, yet you want to jump to conclusions that may or may not be true and judge an entire group of people based upon religious beliefs, some of which might be different from yours.

This is my main problem with the radical Christian right.  They don't seem to believe that other religions are just as good as theirs.  They believe theirs is the best, and anyone who doesn't share their specific religious beliefs are judged to be inferior people.  You want to force your narrow views on everyone, and surely you must know that just isn't going to happen in America.

However, if Americans don't wake up soon and if you manage to wreck America and turn it into a theocracy, I can and WILL move to Canada in a heartbeat to escape your religious bigotry.  By the way, wasn't that the reason this country was formed to begin with -- to end religious persecution?

I can only wonder why YOU haven't been nominated for Supreme Court justice, since you seem to have the only qualification required by Bush.

Oh, that's right.  You're obviously not one of his close personal *friends* who worships him like a god and licks his boots.

Why should she? It's true!

NOT TRUE!

MT was responding to a CHALLENGE to people to put their *money where their mouth is* and if they think this war is so *noble,* then why don't they either enlist or sign up for civilian services over there.

MT said she WILL.  NO PROBLEM. SHE WILL.

No spin.  They are her words.  She didn't say *might* or *would* or *maybe.*  She said she WILL.

You're the one who's doing the spinning.

I know it's not true.

Completely false and irresponsible.

Yes, well, that may be true.

And this board is intolerant and extremely violently angry.

Now this isn't true.
I am disappointed in you, PK.  We had a pretty good conversation on here at one time.  I actually thought there was some communication and I have enjoyed posting here. I never sidetracked anything or anyone. I was on topic.  However, many of the questions I have asked her in response to allegations have never ever been answered.  Why is that?
How true.

LOL!  If I didn't know in advance that this paragraph was about Ann Coultergeist, I would have sworn you were describing the Conservative Board.

I know. Everything you said is true.

I hope you have a great 4th, LVMT.

Not true
but nice try. :)
So true.
But more and more Americans are waking up every day and seeing how they have been deceived by this administration.  I doubt that any of the die-hards on these boards will ever change their minds and see what's in front of their noses, but the good news is they represent an increasing minority in the USA today.  :-)
This is true, we should be able to
hear the debate, but I have a problem with Bush debating anything...he is so embarrassing whenever he speaks...so embarrassing.  We NEED a STATESMAN!!! and someone who has a command of the English language.  Oh plleeeeze. (thud)
Not true...

It's rare that the baby is full term, but not all ectopic pregnancies fail.

Just thought I'd clear that up.  :)

K

if what you say is true

Then by golly the Republicans surely have gone downhill a long, long, long ways recently.  Especially if you judged them by the surly cruel posts made by the Republicans on this board!

Morally bankrupt Republicans with Annie Coulter at the helm!!!!  He-he-he-he.. That ship is gonna sink!!

This is true.
But I have noticed that you always are civil.  I think you are the only one on this board who keeps a level head, even when you come to the other board. Just an observation.
What you say is true,
but their president is cutting off his nose to spite his face. If we would just give him enough rope to hang himself I think he will take himself out. I understand he has become very unpopular, ignoring completely the platform he was elected on and the people are not happy. I believe he will be deposed one way or another and perhaps we will not have to invade yet a third country.
