So what he never graduated high school. My dad never graduated high school and he's held jobs his whole life. Raised two kids, nephews. Sacrificed everything for us and I love him for it. He's no less of a person than people who did graduate high school, which some of them are bums!

Gloating about the sadness that some kids are going through belongs on the gab board. Her daughter and daughters bf never ran for a political position. It's bad enough to see the Palin bashing continue past the election (get over it), but to gloat about someone's misery is shameful, especially when they are not in politics. The OP was obviously gloating and it's disgusting to know there are people so spiteful that they can't let it go with Palin, they have to drag her kids (soon to continue to her family soon) into the bashing too and express their happiness about the awful circumstances her kids are going through - real nice!!! Take the gossip to the gab board.

Well Brunson, I've been posting on the politics board on mtstars sm
for a few years, since it was created. It has took some tough skin - really tough to debate Nan and AG and the others of their ilk. Though I must say their unwaivering love and confidence in President Bush is almost admirable and I can't help but respect a person who knows what they believe in and stand strong for it; at the very same time, not being open to other's view points is close minded.
I have seen in my day AG (AKA Bush Supporter), Nan, and more of their coherts run quite a few liberal minded, even meek speaking posters and they did it with no regard to their feelings. They like to make the debate a personal one, so I would say by looking at what the trolls did to them was a healthy dose of their own medicine, and by the way from what I've read I didn't see death wished on anyone. That's yet another trick of theirs, again you would have to know them, to demonize everything the democrats/liberals say.
So you expect politics to be *pleasant*. I can remember on the other board SM
two of the regular posters leaving and you and your friends celebrating on the board. Ding Dong the witch is dead. Stuff like that. Immature, but that's typical. Still, you celebrated. They left because you HOUNDED THEM OFF. You were relentless in posting multiple times to their every post, no matter what it was about. They said they left for the good of the board. I got over her a long time ago. Obama and Biden won. McCain and Palin lost. Doesn't bother me one bit they lost because I didn't vote for them. I was upset the GOP put in such a lame candidate to begin with. But when you post a non-political issue on the political board gloating about the hardships they are going through and are gleeful about it because of the hatred for Sarah Palin, then yes, I will reply and I'll keep replying and will reply in the future. And if any picks on Obama's daughter's either I will reply with a rebuttal and keep replying. These people are not in politics. I followed Obama's advice he gave during the campaign - leave the candidate's family alone. Especially the kids. There is nothing lower that finding happiness in other people's sadness. And the kids did not do anything wrong.

Most of the people on this board
have been directly affected by outsourcing. I would hope a level of insight into the future of our country could be gained by that experience. If we allow the car companies to go down, sending all car manufacturing overseas, it will not return. All the hardworking people who work in support capacities such as providing materials for automobiles will be affected. When a patient arrives in extremis in the emergency room, you don't lecture them on eating 8 vegetables and fruits a day. You stabilize them and THEN work on their future health.

are also hard-working tax-paying citizens who are sick and tired of our money being used to bail out the big boys while we have to pay more and more in taxes because of someone else's mismanagement.
America is being sold out to the overseas markets, that much is true, but I don't think that bailing the Big 3 out is going to stop that from happening with them. It may postpone it for a couple of years, but they will be right back for more money plus every other industry that is feeling the crunch of the economy. What about something to "bail out" the American tax payer and allow them to be able to afford the necessities (not the luxuries) of life such as shelter, food and utilities?

They're back, and they're back with a vengeance. Their pitiful little lives must be going very badly for them, poor babies. Maybe winter has arrived, and they realize they can't afford to heat their homes, and they're upset and angry. Or maybe they're just basically hateful, vengeful people who have to evict all the old built-up hatred in their tiny hearts to make room for new anger and hatred to reside.
Either way, they just can't seem to leave us alone. I suggest we ignore every single post -- don't even read it and don't respond to it.
There are some people for whom reason is beyond reach, and all we do is feed their hatred.

I never would have started watching it. I didn't even know I could get Fox on my TV. During the political campaign everyone complained about "Faux News", so I got curious, found it on my TV, and started watching.
Up until then, I was watching MSNBC including Chris Matthews and other opinionated commentators (who is going to lecture 5 miles from here today), ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.
Found out it doesn't matter if you watch the big 3 or the so-called MSNBC. They all had a sprinkling of news if it was broadcast at all, while Fox was usually FIRST with the news...and I mean real news, not just political news..They had exclusive reports and interviews with both sides, whereas the big 3 had 1-sided interviews.
Also, during the campaign, I was curious about O'Reilly, Hannity, Cavuto, and others. Started watching them to see what they were all about. Turns out I LIKE Hannity and Cavuto, but the one I really like is Bret Baier (sp).
Tried to watch Olberman and Matthews. Bitter, bitter guys and hardly truthful.
I still watch the big 3, but rely on Fox for truth and fairness. Say what you want, but view them with an open mind and you will be surprised.

Can we bring the board back to the true reason for the board
Can we get the political board back to the true purpose of this board – to share opinions of why we like our candidate. Not bash and cut down others because they don’t agree with you.
I stayed away from this board for the past couple days because anyone who had anything positive to say about Sarah Palin got slammed, bashed, kicked down, etc. After awhile I found it all too draining, and was not seeing any reason to come. Yes, I did see some of it towards people who favored Barack Obama, but if you read the posts again it is mostly towards anyone who favored Sarah Palin/John McCain.
I thought the political board was for posting information regarding politics and candidates. What I have seen for the past few days is that it has been an attack board. Especially if you have anything positive you want to share about Sarah Palin. You say something good about her and you get attacked, you answer back, and you get attacked more, and then when you get mad and pretty much say stop attacking me, they come back with this “Geez, I’m allowed to have an opinion”.
Another thing I am tired of seeing is the slanderous, hate filled, really off the wall comments about Sarah Palin. The latest was something about her daughter actually had her baby. Talk about just bizarre comments. I thought what’s next, she’s an alien from another planet? The more I kept reading the more the comments were getting just really weird and bizarre. Of course nobody ever having any proof of any of these allegations. I then came to realize that the posters were just trying to get a fight going.
I also saw posts that had nothing to do with politics but attacking a poster named Sam. Again, probably trying to get another fight going for no good reason and on things that have nothing to do whatsoever with politics. I’ve read “Sam is like an annoying nat that you sway away”, “Sam, please let me know where you work” or “she must have her quota” or “sam is to the politics board as oracle is to the” This childish rhetoric is getting old. I’m not defending sam she is a big girl and I can see by her posts she can take care of herself, but my point is that this has nothing to do with politics. If you want a fight maybe you could request that the administrator create a separate “fight and degrade” section.
I’ve read the administrators post a couple different times called Beware of Flaming. She/he said as long as we realize that not everyone is going to agree we shouldn’t wear our feelings on our sleeves and a little more oversight on here would be good. Let people express his or her opinion and move on. If you don’t like someone just ignore that person. “It’s not rocket science, you know” (I liked that statement) 
I consider posting on this board a privilege and not a right. If you don’t agree with something and you post that you don’t agree and state the facts why (and are civilized about it) that’s one thing, but when you bash and degrade others without showing proof and just want to start fights and belittle others it just seems a bit juvenile to me.
I come to the politics board to hear ideas and stuff (facts) about the candidates. That is how I’m learning about each one, but I don’t want to read people attack other posters for no good reason. I'd like to hear about Obama/Biden & McCain/Palin, but I want to hear facts.

People who think Governor Sarah Palin didn't handle some "gotcha" questions well in a couple of interviews show no interest in how she compares to the Democrats' Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Biden.
Joe Biden is much more of the kind of politician the mainstream media like. Not only is he a liberal's liberal, he answers questions far more glibly than Governor Palin— grossly inaccurately in many cases, but glibly.
Moreover, this is a long-standing pattern with Biden. When he was running for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination back in 1987, someone in the audience asked him what law school he attended and how well he did.
Flashing his special phony smile, Biden said, "I think I have a much higher IQ than you do." He added, "I went to law school on a full academic scholarship" and "ended up in the top half" of the class.
But Biden did not have a full academic scholarship. Newsweek reported: "He went on a half scholarship based on need. He didn't finish in the 'top half' of his class. He was 76th out of 85."
Add to Obama and Biden House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, and you have all the ingredients for a historic meltdown. Let us not forget that the Roman Empire did decline and fall, blighting the lives of millions for centuries.

It is very sad that Obama's grandmother passed.
For what it is worth....I don't criticize him for not stopping his campaigning. He did stop earlier to go and see her, and I feel like she would want him to continue.
At any rate, my prayers for his family in what has to be a very difficult time.

My mom died in 1982, and after the viewing, my cousin's husband's sister (no relation to me), whom I had never even met previously, came up to the minister, where my father and I were standing, and very seriously and sincerely thanked him for such a beautiful "urology." My dad kicked my shoe a little bit, and all I could do was just immediately excuse myself because I knew if I looked at him, I wouldn't be able to NOT laugh.
Knowing my mother, she would have done the same thing -- kick my shoe a little bit -- as if to say, "Did you HEAR that?!"
I've always felt that humor truly does provide good medicine, and on what was undoubtedly one of the saddest days of my entire life, it injected itself in a most unlikely source and time in a way I'll never forget.
As far as Norm Crosby, I remember him well and will always relate to and appreciate his humor.

Don't know if this is really politics, but -
I am in a position to buy a new car (not going brand new, but 2008) and pay CASH for it. After doing much research on the internet and deciding on the car I wanted, I then proceeded to find the "best" deals in a 150-mile area from my home. Well, the 2nd best price actually came from the dealer that is only 20 miles from me, so I went there to talk to them.
Told them I was paying cash and asked if they could do a better deal to match the other dealership price about 50 miles away (mind you, this is a CHRYSLER dealership) if I wrote them a check and left with the car that day. They said no, that the only way they made any money on cars was through financing and getting kickbacks so that the price they had was what I had to pay.
Now, if cars are not selling and people do not have any money to buy and banks are not financing right now, don't you think the smart thing would have been to match that other price and take my cash instead of letting me walk away? That seems to me to be just greedy and just about shows you why the country is in the shape it is in.
