I think Obama should just slow down on this. Rather than release them, why not bring a team together to look through reports and determine which ones are innocent? In the meantime he can put an order out to clean up conditions at Gitmo and make it acceptable just like any other prison we have.
I understand that some of these guys are not terrorists, but a lot of them are, and a lot of them want us dead no matter what we do, and they have the connections and the ability to do A LOT of damage to our country. Before we go trying to kiss and makeup with them, we need to make sure that they aren't a threat to us anymore.
Plain and simple, it's us vs. them. No matter what we do for them, it isn't going to change the fact that they hate us (unless we change the fact that we are American). It's been beat into their brains from day one.
The line has already been drawn between us and them. All we can do now is hope to keep the casualties down and defend ourselves. Should we provoke them? Heck no. But we should do everything in our power to prevent another 9/11, or worse.
