Me too, and this Independent is voting McCain-Palin.
Was before the speech. Nothing changed. What is great about her is that she is everyperson. You can see her as your neighbor, chatting across the breakfast table. Regular people can identify with her. She is not a member of the "Washington cocktail circuit." She has been there, done that. She is a true reformer...thinks that politicians should not have planes, chefs and chaffeurs on the people's dime. I am tired of elitist politics as usual. I think she will have a very positive effect on Washington.

That being said, she is the #2. McCain has it hands down as far as national security is concerned. He won't tax us into oblivion, which will not help the economy, it will just make it worse. You cannot continue to put ALL the tax burden on the people who provide most of the jobs in this country. That makes absolutely no sense.

He has what she lacks; she has what he lacks. Win-win.

Definitely voting McCain-Palin. THAT is the change you can believe in.
If McCain were elected and fell dead, I would hate to see Palin try to run a country with her wild
antics.
I WOULD CONSIDER VOTING FOR PALIN
nm
Vote McCain and Palin! -oh and why does Palin
nm
Yes...I'm voting for McCain.

From the beginning, I've always known I would not vote for Obama.  His plans will not work.  He will destroy small businesses with his taxes causing loss of jobs.  His plans of taking from the rich to give to the poor will only enable the low-life scum we have in this country to remain lazy and worthless.  His associations with certain individuals and his membership for 20 years to a church designed on black power and the hate of whites........I cannot trust this man to be the commander and chief.  I do not agree with his plans for healthcare.  I do not agree with his extremist view point on abortion.  I do not condone gay marriage.  I cannot under good conscience vote for Barack Obama.  If we elect Barack Obama to be the president, we will sorely regret it.

So bash me as you will.  Obviously, from posts below, this is a support Obama political board and should anyone differ......OMG....you should be thrown off of the board.  You all have been sucked into this mainstream media love affair with a man that we cannot trust, a man who doesn't have the experience, and a man who promises change that he cannot bring.  The one thing I can agree with Obama is this.....his campaign does give me hope.....it gives me hope that enough people get their heads out of their butts and John McCain wins this election and becomes the next President of the United States of America!!!!

Go McCain & Palin!!!!

I'M VOTING FOR MCCAIN
he doesn't condone KILLING BABIES!!!!!!
I take it you are voting for McCain.
nm
I am voting for McCain because........sm
1. I am against the FOCA.
2. I am against gay marriage.
3. I am against taxing the upper income bracket in order to redistribute that money to the lower income bracket.
4. I believe that McCain's 20+ years of service in the government and his leadership abilities and character as demonstrated by his actions as a POW give him more experience than Obama and that Palin's experience as a mayor and governor in Alaska give the Republican party's candidates the experience needed to lead this country.
5. I do not agree that Obama's past associations are what he makes them out to be. I believe that consorting with known marxists and, worse yet, actually seeing out marxist professors to learn at their feet is likely the single most dangerous part of who Obama really is.

There are more, but these are the most important points that make me favor McCain over Obama.
Why do they hate Sarah Palin so?........sm
Hi there. Very thoughtful and intelligent questions you're asking. I'm going to post the following column I found, that explains this phenomenon very clearly, I think.

Why do they hate Sarah Palin so?

by Andrew Tallman

I assume it is unnecessary to answer the logically prior question of whether or not they hate Sarah Palin. The level of vitriol flung at her over the past week and a half by critics in every liberal outlet ranging from The New York Times to Air America is particularly awe-inspiring given that this is all the longer they’ve even known her name. Ordinarily, such hatred takes years to cultivate. The force and acceleration of their vehemence virtually demands psychoanalysis. Since this sport is in vogue, I’ll give my diagnostic skills a shot at the trophy.
Preface: There Is a Pathology

The natural first reaction of a Palin-hater to this column is to deny the hatred. They will say it’s her politics, her religion, or possibly the whiff of scandal some have managed to ladle upon her. But if they’re honest with themselves, they’ll have to admit three simple facts.

First, the reasons they give aren’t the reasons they hate. If they didn’t have these, they’d manufacture others. There’s an old story about a man asking to borrow his neighbor’s lawn mower and being told, “No, I’m making potato soup.” “What does that have to do with me borrowing your lawn mower?” the incredulous man replies. “Nothing, but if I don’t want to loan you my lawn mower, one excuse is just as good as another.” Likewise, Governor Palin is not hated because of whatever reasons they offer. These are afterthoughts to an animosity which is embarrassed to admit it was born prior to reason. Hence, refuting them will prove futile.

Second, even those who persist in asserting such reasons as their motive will have to admit that all of them put together still can’t justify the disproportionate vigor of their attacks upon her. To use an aging phrase, this is the politics of personal destruction; a nuclear response to what their own arguments admit is a merely conventional threat.

Third, no one can hate this deeply this quickly. Conservatives generally despise certain political figures such as Bill Clinton, Teddy Kennedy and John Paul Stevens. But it’s taken us years, sometimes decades to detest these people. Similarly for liberals, contempt only begins to describe their feelings toward George W. Bush, Rick Santorum, and Antonin Scalia. But, again, at least such a sentiment has developed over time. It took Sarah Palin less than a week to receive treatment these men have taken years to earn. Such an immediate mauling of someone’s character says far more about the predators than about their prey.

So, what explains this pathology? I have two mutually compatible theories.

Theory 1: The Cult of Personality

Barack Obama is the left’s messiah. Their hopes, their dreams and even their patriotism are at this point invested in him. He cannot be criticized. He cannot be joked about. And he most certainly cannot be mocked. All such response to him (perfectly normal with any other politician) is viewed as blasphemy rather than politics. Not only is the left salvifically invested in him, they secretly fear they have been too rash to the altar call. Calm reflection proves Barack Obama isn’t ready to be president yet, but who can resist the hope beyond hope that he’s more than just a golden voice reading a teleprompter?

So when little Sarah Palin comes along and castigates him with condescending satire, they react as any devastated schoolgirl with a crush would. Her speech stated every major flaw with his candidacy. Not just honestly, but with a Reagenesque comedic flair. And since their deepest fear is that everything she said about him is right, the only option to reconsidering their betrothal was to destroy her.

It’s pretty simple. If we disagree, you correct me. If I am silly, you ignore me. But if I articulate your own fears in attacking something you cherish irrationally, you excoriate me … as cover. As Robert Pirsig explained in his lovely novel on motorcycle maintenance, no one jumps up and down screaming that the sun will rise tomorrow. Highly emotional responses indicate fear and uncertainty, not the opposite.

Sarah Palin’s on-target reductio of Barack Obama turned their messiah into a joke, earning the very predictable treatment a heretic deserves. Disabusing people of a savored fantasy always does.

Theory 2: Her Non-Feminist Feminism

I used to marvel at the rudeness so often publicly shown to parents with many children. But then I saw how the very existence of such families exposes the guilt and self-doubt others feel about their own decisions to stop having children. The surest way to avoid dealing with these stifled concerns is to assault the character or intelligence of parents who dare to expose them with their large families.

So, too with Sarah Palin and the left. Her very life rebukes them.

She has five children, two of them after the age of 40. When her infant son was diagnosed with Down syndrome, she chose life. And when her own daughter was discovered pregnant, she helped her choose life, too. Without ever saying a word about being pro-life (to say it would have been superfluous), she demolished all the common arguments used in favor of abortion and family planning, totemic doctrines of the left.

But it’s more than just doctrine. It’s that so many people on the left have condoned abortions, helped others obtain abortions, or even had abortions themselves in the very same circumstances under which Sarah Palin chose life. Honest people are an affront to liars. Law-abiders are an affront to criminals. And the woman who has made pro-life “choices” is a stinging affront to modern feminism, which has spent decades trying to convince women that an unwanted pregnancy is like a disease and the unborn child something like a parasite.

They must demonize her because her choices so clearly condemn their own. Make no mistake, when your example disproves someone else’s deeply internalized rationalizations, they will try to destroy you. After all, the only other option would be to repent.
Conclusion

In “Beyond Good and Evil,” Nietzsche said, “Anyone who has looked deeply into the world may guess how much wisdom lies in the superficiality of men … let nobody doubt that whoever stands that much in need of the cult of surfaces must at some time have reached beneath them with disastrous results.” His critique of religion so perfectly fits probamaism that one is forced to conclude the latter is but a new flavor of the former.

There may be other pathologies at play here, but these explain both the left’s tsunamic response and why it struck last Thursday morning. It was the speech, stupid.
You are reading my mind. Plus, Sen. McCain's MOTHER attended the convention. nm
x
57% obama; still voting for McCain
Some things like abortion, death penalty and guns really aren't as important as my taxes and his spending of my taxes.
I'm an independent, voting for McCain. I have
nm
Voting for McCain too, even if I have little hope of
nm
If us McCain supporters were voting
purely on good looks.......there would definitely be something wrong with us because McCain ain't pretty.  LOL!  He has yellow teeth, that swollen cheek, and he can't move his arms.  So obviously looks have nothing to do with our decision to vote for McCain.
I am voting for John McCain because

he is for smaller government and less government spending.  He has more experience with foreign policy.  He has been in the military and knows first hand what our troops go through.  He won't raise taxes during an economic crisis.  He won't tax businesses more which will help them survive and be successful therefore creating more jobs for Americans.  He wants alternative energy sources which (once you get the crazy freaks who are environmentalists to shut up) will create even more jobs for Americans and keep money here in the USA instead of giving it to people who want us dead.  I also in good conscience cannot vote for Obama because of his beliefs when it comes to abortion and gay marriage.  I also believe that when it comes to party politics, John McCain will stand up to his own party if he doesn't see eye to eye with them and I just feel that is something Obama will not do.

This is excluding other feelings I have about Obama, particularly his associations that people refuse to see and acknowledge.  One radical association is one thing, but Obama has many and I've always been raised to believe that birds of a feather flock together.

Well I had every intention of voting for Mccain
but when I walked in I all of a sudden saw the light and I couldn't control my hand. It went straight to Obama's name!

LOL Just Kidding. Of course I voted Mccain! I don't like to kill babies! :)
I do not hate Palin at all - I just think every story has 2 sides -
I don't think that the trooper would have been in trouble at all, nor would it have ever been brought up, had the trooper and Palin's sister not had an ugly divorce.

In my post, I clearly said that I would not have done what he did to his son, but I do know many men in law enforcement that would have done the exact same thing he did.

You have to read on that the taser was turned down to the testing setting (which is exactly what the law enforcement officers get tasered with in their training) and he did not do it intending harm.

You excuse McCain's lack of judgment, you excuse Palin's lack of judgment, but if anybody is not on their side you crucify them. Why?
Palin, so much to hate! I didn't see the message sm
you refer to but I will look for it. She is a caricature of a person.

Well I have a brain and I'm not voting for McCain. That to me is a no brainer.
I guess I could go and pick out all the negatives about John McCain (there are plenty) while putting Obama on a pedestal and parading him around as though he is the second coming of Christ. For pete's sake. Looks like it took no brains to write this one.
And you my dear are one of the top reasons I'm voting for McCain
Backwards thinking is those people like yourselves who won't admit that your candidate has flaws. Truth is he has more flaws than McCain. - you know is it too much to ask to get his name correct. I know people think its cute to put Mc in front of other words, but the guy was a vietnam war hero. He deserves the respect. Otherwise we can go on down that road and start putting names at the end of Obama's name (Ono, Obrother, Oliar, Osocialist, etc. The names could go on and on), but at least the conservatives are respectful of the candidates.

As for his age, then you can say do we realy want someone of Biden's age to be one heartbeat away from being president, after all anything could happen to Obama. (don't go down that road unless your ready for the mud).

Obama is a radical. Sure he wants change - but change for the worse and for everyone else except he and his 1% rich friends. I'm sorry but I don't want to live in a socialist country where our health care is now been socialized. I had it with being in the poor house the last time we had a democrat president. Truth is looking at Obama is more like voting in Bush again. Obama and Bush have agreed on stuff and this bail out plan is one of the biggest. The people who own Obama are the same people that own Bush. The same people that are telling Bush he better fix it because they want their money are the same ones who are running Obama telling him he better vote for it. If your going to link anyone to Bush you should link Obama. McCain has always been in the middle. You can stop spreading the lies that they voted the same cos they didn't. McCain has gone against both dems and pubs.

So irresponsible is voting in a new guy with no experience who is going to raise your taxes, socialize our health care, all while trying to convince us is the patriotic thing to do by having the government steal our hard earned money so they can give to the poor less advantaged individual. So now instead of working 60 hours a week to make ends meet you are going to have to work 80 hours. Cripes, when are you going to sleep? Let alone any relaxation time. Under the Clinton years my tax bracket was over 40% and even that wasn't enough cos at the end of the year I had to take out a loan to pay the extra $2500 that I didn't pay throughout the year. Each year I kept having them take out an extra $40 per paycheck over what was normally taken out and I still got socked with having to pay extra every year.

You want someone who is going to destroy the military so our country will not be safe anymore like Clinton did, then by all means vote in Barack OBush
Glad to hear you are voting for McCain!
I was referring to the fact that Obama supporters cannot accept the truth of his policies, they just want to ignore them and argue. Ignore the message and beat up the messenger. The issue is not about how the OP paid her employees, it is how Obama's economic plan is going to change her business.
Voting McCain, and still a Hillary supporter...nm

I'm voting McCain partly because he is the lesser
of two evils.  I am not voting for Obama because I am completely pro-choice and completely against gay marriages.  I know people who have had abortions and I know who people who are gay.  I hold nothing against them, but I can't with a good consicence vote for someone who believes these 2 major things are okay.  I am by no means judging anybody for their choice of lifestyle.  I personally just think it's wrong.  Also, being of the pentecostal faith, I am happy that Sarah Palin (also of the pentecostal faith) was chosen as his running mate.  I'm simply voting with my conscience.
My main reason for voting for McCain because

1.  TRUST. Don't trust O.

2. TRUTH. He is more truthful than the O. I didn't hear him waver much from what he has been saying through the whole campaign, while O has changed his mind a few times.

3.  AMERICA. He believes in this country and its freedoms. O wants to curb our freedom.

4.  "MAVERICK". He does cross party lines and buck the system. O will vote specifically with the dems all the time,,, and I really hate the word Maverick.

5.  SAFETY. He will keep us safer. O would rather talk. Talking gets you nowhere with the radicals in the world today. The radicals give their word and the next day will kill.

6. I believe he will TRY to cut government spending. This one is iffy since it depends on who runs the house and senate, but I believe he will try his darndest to get this done.

There are so many more reasons why I chose McC and those include those in the below posts.

Voting for McCain doesn't make you a republican
http://www.politicalfriendster.com/showPerson.php?id=2805&name=Bush-Family-Bankrupt-Companies
I couldn't agree with you more!! I'm voting McCain for the same reason. nm
x
There are other choices. I find Obama and McCain equally offensive, so I am voting for Ralph Nader.
Bob Barr might also be a good choice.
Not backing McCain....just hate to know a low life
--
Me Too -Go McCain and Palin!
nm
Go McCAIN and PALIN!
nm
And McCain/Palin's could be
;D
McCain and Palin.......
No, I was talkig about "I'll help the poor, needy, and uneducated" Obama. That man is clueless as to what keeps most people poor, and I am NOT talking about those who really try and have fallen on hard times for reasons beyond their control.

I'm talking about the lazy souls that Obama knows will vote for him because they know he will continue the social programs, the free handouts, which will only continue to keep them poor and feeling entitled, with no motivation to do anything else for themselves. He talks a big talk like throwing more money at those kids is going to help their situation. He needs to get with the program...more money won't do a thing to help educate those children. Taking them from parents who are worthless might though, then the child might actually be able to make something of themselves and won't feel entitled and be fooled into those Obama scare tactics of how they NEED the government to take care of them. You better believe, millions will vote for him because they are afraid their monthly check might stop.
McCain/Palin
I think Sarah Palin has a backbone and is very bright. I would much rather see her as president if something happened to McCain than Obama's pick for VP.  Now, there you would have some trouble.  Personally, the only thing that scares me about Obama, is his wife.  She is a shark and cannot be trusted.  Of course, none of them REALLY can be trusted.  I am just stating my opinion.
McCain/Palin
McCain/Palin
This is why I believe McCain/Palin will win
There are too many "changes" to his plans. His campaign motto is A Change we can believe in. How can we believe in it when he keeps changing it. He's saying and doing anything to get elected and people are gullible enough to believe it. I agree with above posters too.
If McCain/Palin win this election,

another catastrophic attack on US citizens happening not soon after.  The rest of the world won't take another GOP leader in the White House lightly, especially our enemies.  Hopes for a more peaceful world will be dashed, and you just KNOW that certain parts of the country are going to have what they consider a perfect excuse for another WTC-like attack.

Ladies, this election is far too important to the US and the rest of the world to be voting GENDER.  As much as I would love to see a woman in the White House, this is the WRONG WOMAN, and most definitely the WRONG MAN.

We have already begun a downward slide in wealth, power & credibility, and other, much larger nations are on their way up.  The warmonger currently in the White House, and those who aspire to follow, should realize that it's no longer so inconceivable that the next major war could end up being fought on OUR soil.

I agree that if McCain/Palin win this one,
Big-time.
I'm a McCain/Palin supporter, sm
And I think it's pretty silly to be focused on this so late in the game. I for one, am a woman and a republican (sigh and a poor one at that) and I for one don't think Obama was calling Palin a "pig", it was just his choice of phrases. Many have used it before.
Yeah, Go McCain and Palin! :)
nm
McCain and Palin supporters
feel the Obama supporters are making a mistake.  However, we would not say that we deserve the downfall that will happen with Obama in office.  No one deserves that even if you are stupid enough to vote for him!
It is a combo of McCain and Palin, get it? nm
.
Anyone who hates McCain & Palin would think that
Unfortunately it is not true.
McCain/Palin - where's the beef?

McCain/Palin is my ticket

Isn't anybody on our board a Republican besides me?    I'm disappointed that McCain didn't start getting tough earlier in his campaign.  He doesn't have the charisma and speaking style that Obama has, but I believe that he has what it takes to lead our country.  I also think President Bush has done an excellent job.

Oh, okay, McCain and Palin are not moral, but
nm
If McCain/Palin win...heaven help us all! (nm)
:(
Uh, that's McCain/Palin - really do need to get that one straight
There is no such a candidate named McPalin. If so can you tell me what his first name is. Euphemism smeuphemism...there is no such person. Tired of hearing it. Do you hear us saying Obiden, or Obamaden? I would follow your advice if I were you - do try to read a little more.

Palin and McCain's Shotgun Marriage
http://www.truthout.org/article/palin-and-mccains-shotgun-marriage
Who is running for President - McCain or Palin?

Since Palin has come on the scene, she has been out front at every campaign stop.  It seems as if she is running for President while McCain remains in the background and just applauds her. I don't think I've seen him open a campaign speech since her appointment.  I wonder if this was intentional.  Did they need to get him out of the spotlight or did she just take over?

I think McCain/Palin would be even WORSE than Bush!
