is that if the last admin isn't held accountable for acts they did outside the law, then it sets a precedent for others to follow. Obama is playing center of the road democrat right now, but what happens if we get a FAR left or another FAR right president who decides to take matters into his own hands like Bush did? I don't know about you, but I don't want a president who is above the law, and I doubt you would like the end result of that any more that I would. But if we do nothing, then that's exactly what we are setting ourselves up for. You're so busy trying to defend Bush that you can't see the repercussions of doing so.
BTW, the last poll that I saw said that about 45% of the pub party said that Cheney was hurting the cause of the republican party (with a couple saying he needs to just shut up). I don't think he gives a rat's but about the pub party. At this point he's just worried about his own buttocks -- and for once, through all his paranoia, he's right in thinking that he's going down.
