I hope you do not think that this attitude is shared by all Americans; I assure you it is not. I do not understand the leftists of this country...they on the one hand condemn the President for going to Virginia Tech after the shootings there and for not going to soldiers' funerals, for supposedly not caring about soldiers dying or the Iraqi people. And then turn right around and want to cut and run. I, like you, wonder where is that supposed care for the Iraqi people when our cutting and running will certainly make matters much worse for them. Someone somewhere needs to take a hard stand against Muslim extremism, but if you leave it up the left, they either ignore the problem or say something silly like I don't care if they cut my head off. Easy to say when you don't have a sword hovering above your neck. They do not have a clue as to the threat. Not a clue. Even after 9-11. And I have no answer for that. I do not understand that level of denial. I do not understand how their compassion only extends to certain groups at certain times...in my estimation, you have compassion or you don't. You don't trot it out for certain groups when it is politically expedient to do so. They accuse conservatives of going about our daily lives and not caring about the soldiers, or the Iraqi men, women, and children, that we here are not at war. That seems a supremely misguided and arrogant statement to me. Then turn RIGHT around and advocate cutting and running and leaving those same Iraqi men, women, and children to the *mercies* of terrorist thugs. And they act as if they cannot see how one contradicts the other. I have no answers, worldfan. All I do is keep my eyes upward and pray daily, and determined not to sit quietly while they drag us to ruin. One voice may not be much, but this one voice will not be complacent. The conservatives of this country are like the voice in the wilderness...and we must never stop.
