for the entire country to see and discuss. Her privacy, which she is entitled to as a 16-year-old, has been invaded in a very nasty way. Sorry, that is the way I feel about it. I think it was terribly wrong for dailykrap to post it and terribly wrong for someone to spread it even further here. But that is just me.

Why is this being discussed?
This happened a long time ago. Is the point to make one party look bad and the other good? That is silly. Both parties at some point or another have made horrible decisions. Maybe I'm PMSing and emotional, but I'm a little offended by this thread. I certainly was not alive to vote those people into Congress, therefore why should I be 'punished' for something they did before I was even born. The whole thing is just very inflammatory. Why don't we discuss things that are in the present that we have some say over? Observer, I usually defend you at least a little, but you took this discussion to a hurtful place. That is an ugly time in our history and to make it sound like Democrats are responsible for it, or at least were the only ones who wanted it to continue, is very offensive. I know everyone will probably say that Bush bashing is hurtful, and maybe it is, but that is something that is happening currently that we have a right to discuss. We have the ability to vote in regards to these issues that are happening NOW.
As this has already been discussed
I will not revisit any of the existing arguments from the other thread. I just want to point out that Obama will not be king able to make a decree on whim. A program like this, if it truly is like some are interpreting it, would have to be passed by Congress and would probably take years to implement if it did, which is doubtful. Besides, I sincerely doubt that the Dems will hold the majority at the midterm elections. I would suggest that any who are concerned about this take gourdpainter's advice posted above.
This was discussed below.

I think it is just plain sad really.  If you are white, you don't qualify for a job.  If you are highly skilled, you don't qualify.  Why wouldn't you want highly skilled people?  That is just plain retarded right there.  Things are bad enough right now that all people, including all races, are losing jobs and highly skilled people are losing jobs.  Why should they be not included in this opportunity?  Sounds to me like they would prefer to have unskilled minorities build stuff than highly skilled individuals.  To me that suggests p*ss poor work being done and very poor management...but whatever.

Then again....we've always sort of had this problem.  Companies have a certain quota of minorities they have to hire and often pick a minority with less skill and qualifications over someone who is skilled just to meet their quota of hiring minorities.  So what is the point of being skilled?  Once again....the dumbing down of America right there.

This is the experience currently being discussed.
Before answering the question, please read the following. This is posted in response to pub spin that would assert SP is better qualified to lead the country because of O's lack of experience. Of special note are the numerous foreign relations committee diplomatic initiatives listed below. Of course, I would be interested in any comparabl experience SP may have that the pubs can produce. I have saved this post and will be using it in reply to any similar assertions made by pubs in the future whenever I encounter them. Hope format is not too seedy.

It is so ridiculous that this is still being discussed.

We discussed the same issue...
he is just another man elected to be president who just happens to be half black. Big deal. Also, for the state of the economy, there is certainly a lot of money being spent for this charade. A low key celebration would be fine, not the 150 million dollar price tag we are footing some of the bill for. He will never live up to the hype he has generated. The bloom will be off the rose before long and we will have a front row seat for the further decline of our economy, not to mention the terrorists who are anxiously awaiting an Obama administration.
Already been discussed on both boards. Catch up. nm

Sept.18: Congressional Leaders told US Economy Had Been Hours Away from Collapse

A stunning video has surfaced of Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-PA) describing Thursday September 18 when Bernanke and Paulson starkly informed Congressional leaders how close the economy had come to collapsing that day.

After $550 billion had been electronically drawn out of money market accounts and $105 billion had been poured back into the system with no effect, the Federal Reserve and the Treasury made the decision to shut down the money market accounts and announce a guarantee of $250,000 per account.

Rep. Kanjorski:

If they had not done that their estimation was that by two o'clock that afternoon, $5.5 trillion would have been drawn out of the money market system of the United States, would have collapsed the entire economy of the United States, and within 24 hours the world economy would have collapsed.

It would have been the end of our economic system and our political system as we know it. [via Magnifico at Daily Kos]

Again via Magnifico, The Motley Fool adds some background as well as a possible connection to martial law in The One Jaw Dropping Video that Every Fool Must See. Both Sen. Inhofe, R-Okla., and Rep. Brad Sherman, D-Calif claim that Paulson brought up the possibility of a declaration of martial law.

The same article also revealed that a November 2008 Army War College Report discusses the possible use of the US military in the event of a domestic economic collapse.

Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security. Deliberate employment of weapons of mass destruction or other catastrophic capabilities, unforeseen economic collapse... are all paths to disruptive domestic shock. [p.32]
Support for Kanjorski's claims can be found in archives from that time period:

Congressional Leaders Stunned by Warnings
, NY Times, Sept. 19, 2008.

...as the Fed chairman, Ben S. Bernanke, laid out the potentially devastating ramifications of the financial crisis before congressional leaders on Thursday night, there was a stunned silence at first. Mr. Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. had made an urgent and unusual evening visit to Capitol Hill...

Rushing to save money-market funds, CNN Money, Sept. 19, 2008

By Friday, federal officials worried that the strain on money-market funds had become too great and threatened the world's financial system.

As an aside, if all of this happened on Thursday, Sept. 18, why in the world did McCain wait until the last minute on the 24th to cancel his interview with David Letterman?

Excuse me. Clearly, the women, children, babies and elders in that video posed no immediate threat to US troops there. No need for pudit expert analysis on that one.
Obama actually does differ on McCain in his Afghanistan plan, especially when it comes to more precise targeting (like OBL, to name one instance) and measures that would protect and spare civilian populations from blanket bombing of entire villages to "flush out" a half dozen "known" Taliban.
Diplomacy has not been tried with Taliban or any other theocratic leadership in view of the "we don't negotiate with terrorist" W dogma...that is, of course, until recently when he decided to flip to the O side of diplomatic policy and explore the idea of establishing an American "Interests" Section in Tehran.

You cannot possibly pretend to know what sort of progress can be made under leadership guided by a president who has the kind of insight O has into Islamic cultures until those initiatives are explored. What is apparent from that video is that ANY and ALL efforts should be undertaken to succeed in disarming terrorist arsenals AND appeal and that measures should be undertaken to prevent the slaughter of women, children, babies and old men.

O has very clearly articulated his approach and policies on diplomacy on his website, which have been available since the day he launched his campaign. Show me the McCain plan for diplomacy. Don't just claim he "knows what he is doing" because he knows his way around a battlefield. Show me the plan. I will not address the rest of the post because it reflects all that tired out politics of fear warmongering rhetoric that 80% of the nation has clearly indicated it no longer buys into.

This was all discussed ad nauseum in this morning's thread.
he said it before the election? I am not going to spend my time repeating verbatim the information that is sitting immediately under this thread. No one, including the MILLIONS of your fellow citizens who support the closing of Gitmo, thought it was going to be easy, but it IS going to be done, not by finding another way, but by doing it the way Obama has already put into action.

BTW, sodiers have been speaking up against the govt for quite some time now...in fact, for years before Obama ever took office. Ever heard of the Winter Soldiers?

Enter the elephant in the room not beind discussed
Under the Obama administration, reform in trade agreements, incentives to keep jobs stateside and targets plans to make it easier to unionize will be changing that picture. Pubs have lost this grip, no matter how loud they protest, how many GOP alert memos they send or how hard they pretend otherwise. Look for the unions to make a long overdue comeback. Then we shall see just how outdated they are.

Need new insult. Yours getting old. Look up on internet. Do better.
People watching.
Oh you've seen pictures!!!

Well, there's the proof then!!!!

I think Lamont won a primary in a state where if I'm not mistaken tends to be a blue state.  I think there's still and election to be held.  He'll probably win, because as you stated above.  If a state tends to go Democrat or Republican they will tend to go that way again.  I believe the polarization has reached such a point that the liberal states will become even more left, and the right states will become more right.  There were a few pesky little states in the presidential election that went to republicans that usually go to democrats, but presidential elections are not always cut and dry like Senate and House elections tend to be.

Yes, I scrolled through the pictures...
quite articulate, those protestors, and sooo fond of the 4-letter words. Can't figure out how the *Stop Racism* got in the peace rally though. As to the picture of Jane Fonda hanging in effigy...I don't agree with either side hanging anyone in effigy although I can't count the number of times I have seen Bush hung or burned in effigy That being said...Fonda should have been tried for treason for North Viet Nam visit. She should be in jail.
Yes, if you look at the pictures of the rally.....
that sign WAS pretty prominent...along with others with various other epithets. What, pray tell, does that have to do with a *peace* rally? What does vandalizing govt property have to do with a *peace* rally? In my opinion, it seriously undermines the credibility of said *peace* rally.
You obviously have access to the internet...
What you should do is research for yourself instead of listening to the news readers. Their superiors very often have an agenda for their candidate, whoever that may be.

There's a lot of info out there, and a lot you have to sift through. But if you're truly looking for the truth, you'll figure it out if you do enough research.

I say this because we live in a unique time. We do have access to information like never before. It scares me to think that our media does not generally do what they are supposed to do and make clear distinctions so we can make clear decisions. They are supposed to be watchdogs, not report on nonsense tabloid issues.

I pray that we never have a government like they did under Stalin, and others. There was propaganda back then also, but there was no way for the people to know other than what they were told because the government controlled the media. And believe it or not, there are pols who want that kind of control today.

Sometimes the media does their job, but what we're told about a particular person/politician seems too incredible to be believed, but if we dig around, we can find out a lot and make a more informed decision regarding our country. The average person, years ago, didn't believe there were men who craved power so badly that they would destroy their own, but they did, and history bears that out. Current events in other countries also bears that out.

You know what they say, those who forget [or simply ignore] the past are destined/doomed to repeat it. I want our politicians, whether dem, rep, or indy, to learn from what has been done against this country, and I want them to put our interests first. Our interests being to do the job they are constitutionally required to do, and that is to provide defense, protect this country from those who would do us, or our allies, harm.

Yes, we need to come to the aid of those in this country who cannot provide for themselves, but it has gotten out of hand and mired down in wasteful bureaucracy and is not getting to those who actually need it.

My pet peeve, I don't want to hear how the world is against us. We've been there for everyone, and when we are for them, they certainly accept it, and then turn against us like a relative that only comes around when they want something. When we don't do for them, we're lambasted, but we cannot be everything to the world. We can only do so much. But we are blessed and we bless others, and rightly so.

But it seems to me that some want us to be puppets and/or sitting ducks. If I hear a politician say anything that remotely looks like they want us to be liked by the world, I look for someone else, because that should not be on the agenda. If they believe otherwise, I look until I know in whom to place my trust and my hard-earned vote. I really don't put much stake in whether or not we're liked. It's proof enough to me that they all want to come here, and most are willing to stand in line for that honor.

Note: I do believe we need good relations with other countries, but we need to do what's in the best interests for our own first. That should always be our top priority.

Those are good pictures.
One job I would hate to have is the photographer who has to follow the president around and take those photos. Taking some of those pictures would seem almost intrusive sometimes - like the one with his kids sitting on his lap and Michelle kissing him. Kind of like the proverbial third wheel, you know?

Anyway, they are nice pictures.
yes, I agree, it is said that the pictures
that are not yet published are much worse than those published and everybody is aware of this. So, why publicize them? The every day Muslims would react in horror, but silence, pacified by the promises of O. I think that even the extremists will restrain themselves.
You are right, times and cicumstances have changed, people mellowed down, let's keep it that way and let people listen what O has to say.
I hope that Ahmedinejad will be the loser and Mosavi the winner. The elections were today.

Hmm, pictures I saw showed her children there with her.
There are people who travel for business and take their families with them, but they don't bring the family to their business meetings. DUH? What grade are you in? If you're going to get into a battle of wits, please at least come armed.

I have pictures of O being brought up in Kenya
where he went to school and going to school there costs a lot of money.  I am talking about K-8 grade, not in America and that is during his younger years.

There's some interesting reading on the internet
regarding the 14th Amendment and anchor babies (as one website refers to them as "jackpot babies.")  I agree jackpot is more appropriate then anchor.  The numbers of them being born is staggering.  One thing I didn't realize that the 14th amendment was to guarantee citizenship to freed slaves.
We did...turn off the TV, that is. Still splattered over the Internet, tho...
Took this site off my favorites, too, because you libbies are just too much lately.

It was good (not surprised). Rush has a way of hitting the nail on the head.
I saw a lot of pictures and to me it looked just like the convention,

I am old and have never seen anything like what is being spouted now days, very dangerous situation for Obama, I think. Just heard man asking radio station today about concentration camps in America. You think you have it bad now.

Just wait till dems are in control of everything.

You'll have less than nothing, and have to give it away to others less unfortunate than yourself. However are you going to be able to afford that?
Saw this as an open letter on internet, and boy did she hit the nail...

on the head!  And I agree with her, 110%!

I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don't you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. But* out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idio* you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.

Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're moro*s.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole da** congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

They are nice boys. Learn how to post pictures. nm

Next time, make the effort to remove the pictures. SM

They don't come out.  Also, the colors obscure the names of the people who made the quotes making them worthless.  How is one to argue about who said the quote if you can't read it.

Gary Muchler - hope the pictures post

And finally, they're a dwindling number and may soon be extinct, so let's take a quick look at the conservative counter-protestors who have been voicing their support for the war. You've already met memorial vandal Larry Northern, but now I'm proud to present ardent Bush supporter Gary Muchler. Here he is in Wilkes-Barre PA, trying to snatch a sign at a rally for Cindy Sheehan:

Just a thought, but instead of assaulting peaceful protestors perhaps Gary could sign up for the military. He loves the war, he's already got the camo pants (which the Army would be delighted to show him how to belt properly), and he'd get into shape right quick. C'mon Gary, sign up today!

Gary joins the elite ranks of the Pro-War Rogues' Gallery, which features previous honorees The Unknown Patriot:

Another tough Biden interview...scrubbed from the Internet...
Marxism at its best, once again, what we will be able to expect from an Obama white house

Try putting the following in google, and the interview has been scrubbed clean off the Internet. It's hard to even find a transcript of the interview, and could only find parts of it.

That reminded me of Putin's staged pictures with the tigers.
Sorry, I do not want to see Obama shirtless. He has no personal dignity, and thinks he's incoming royalty.
PIx didn't come through - pictures were all of guys waving large guns around...
Guns, guns, guns and threats, threats, threats.
