That was then and this is now...He just said it today of ALL days!!! sm
WHY WOULD anyone in their RIGHT MIND say such a thing TODAY of all days???? Unless they were completely out of touch with the people of America and what they're going through.

He is another Bush - PERIOD.
Been covered today already, and over past few days..

Wel, today they're all DOWN. HA HA HA HA
See - anyone can make a moronic post, can't they? Of course, it comes harder for some of us than it does for you.
You're particularly nasty today
I don't think a liberal has lost an election anywhere today, so what's the the nastiness?
Guess you didn't read the post I made from a few days ago.

Sorry, but I haven't been able to post lately due to some problems, but the FOIA report I posted and said to pay attention to certain pages....Clinton KNEW there were WMD's in Irag in 1996! Did he do anything? Nope. He left the country he was visiting right before a bombing; i.e., he knew it was going to happen. The jist I got of the report was that he knew and did nothing.

Did you read that report?  Don't want to dredge up old presidents but you seem to do it every chance you get, so I just have to respond to that. Bush also knew but did nothing because the CIA,DOJ, FBI and whatever other departments were to keep him informed but never worked together on anything so he got conflicting reports all the time. Was he a mind reader? Doubt it or 911 would not have happened.

Sorry, but this post does not hold water IMHO.

Thanks for the post, here's some more info from today

Here's a snippet from a piece on CNN from today.  It's an interview with John Dean.  He points out that this Rove thing is not all that simple and there may be other things involved than just outing a CIA agent.

DOBBS: In a perhaps bizarre piece, it appears that Time magazine leaked some material to Newsweek magazine. I can't say that for certain, but it appears that way. The fact is: It's unclear whether what Karl Rove may or may not have done here is even illegal.

DEAN: That's right. It isn't clear.

DOBBS: What's your sense of that?

DEAN: We can't tell on the facts we have alone whether we have a law that's been violated or which laws have been violated. The attention is focused on the CIA Identities Protection Act and that hasn't really been my concern.

I think probably the lawyers involved in this case are looking at the other potential concerns. You take the prima facie facts we have and this could very well be a couple statutes that are involved with Mr. Rove.

He could be, well, converting government information to his own political uses and putting it out, and that is a violation of the law. It could be the statute that got a lot of those of us involved in Watergate, which is if he is conspiring with others to do what he's not being paid as a government employee to do, which it would be in this instance, to leak information for political purposes. That in turn, could be a violation as well.

DOBBS: Effectively, fraud and conspiracy.

DEAN: Yes.

Bd has 1 post today. Slam has

. .  . oh, who cares enough to count!!

excuse my typos today...I catch them after I post... :) nm

Nope, 4 years 11 days (1471 days or 1383 til 11/4/2012)
You do really need to learn how to count until 11/4/2012 or 1/20/2013.

Also, sorry to hear in four years you won't care anymore.
Post the direct link. I don't see the post you're referring to.
t
Just today....and theboard is dominated by people piling on me every time I post.
What you don't like is anyone who disagrees with you. Sounds a whole lot more like Nazism than American democracy. But I don't suppose a socialist party would recognize that.
I think it's too early to tell
He's only been in a couple weeks. Too early to tell. We hear stories here and there, but he needs more time. I voted for him, but I do not have a lot of confidence in him. I always remind myself that he is not the one making decisions, he just does what he is told to do. I don't think he's gotten a good start though.

I think Obama has the same "mesmerizing" type of quality that Bill Clinton did when he would give speeches. Someone who was invited to the white house once when Bill Clinton was president said that Mr. Clinton had the ability to mesmerize his audiences almost like in a hypnotizing or trance-like state. He said that he looked around the room at the people listening to the President and they were in a sort of trance. Mr. Clinton had a way of lying to the people but they didn't care and they smiles and said Thank god Mr. Clinton is our president. When asked about the lies he told, they answered with "so what, I don't care." That is the same road I'm seeing Mr. Obama take. He's able to hypnotize his audiences to a point that he lies to them and they don't care. They still will smile and say it's okay.

As for losing or gaining support I think it all depends on whether you support him or not. If you voted for him and are a die-hard Obama fan you will say he's gaining support and everyone else is just picking on him. But if you don't support Obama you will say he's losing support.

I don't think he's had a very good start to the office - just the stuff he's done like who he is picking for his cabinet, the stimulus bill he came out and approved and basically threatened congress and put out the fear that if they don't vote for it we will head into depression, etc, etc., but I do believe we really need to give the guy some more time. Maybe in 6 months lets come back and see how he's done over the first 6 months.
Excellent post! You're 100% right.

Liberals run in tolerant circles.  The thought of others letting them *get away* with their own personal freedom of speech doesn't even occur to them.  They don't demand that every single American follow in step and say the *right* words...or else.  They promote truth and honesty and detest dirty tricks and lies that are designed to benefit the rich, while the poor work harder and get poorer.

I remember once upon a time when people like that were called Americans!

I don't know if you're talking about my post or not.

I think the subject line that All Americans Deserve to Live (or something like that).

I see that my post is gone, and if mine is the post you're referring to, I'm sorry.  I can't repost it.  It was just something I quickly wrote from my heart, and I didn't keep a copy of it.

I guess I'll have to start saving a copy of everything I write.  :-(

What part of 60-plus days of his first 100 days...sm
don't you understand. I think it's obvious to anyone actually researching his movements what his main goals are - and I don't in my wildest dreams see how in the world he can keep spending as he has been and wants to continue doing and cut the deficit in half by end of his term. IMO his chances are running out quickly. God help us all!
Please copy the post you're referring to that says she's not
I can't find it.
You're putting words in her post.sm
Take it at face value.
He was born too early ...
If you read through the articles, you'll see that he was actually born before the law went into effect stating that people born in the Panama Canal zone were natural born citizens. Thus, he is not.

I'm sure the RNC felt that it was just a technicality that would never be called out.

I fear if this Obama stuff continues, it will be. And we'll be left with no candidates to vote for.
Too early to ask this. Palin has not said SHE is

This was in the late 70s early 80s
As far as I know, none of my friends slept with these students. One of the guys used to come up to our hometown and spend the night and never ever acted like he was interested in "conquering" my friend or I. We were all just friends. maybe the times were different?
You're right. It's just an incredibly tasteless post. Happy now? NM

Got a call early this morning, was
not truly awake when I answered the phone, and my stepson stationed in Japan gave me the dreadful news, news I NEVER wanted to hear...he is going to Iraq.  My husband was not here when I received this horrifying news, he was working the midnight shift.  My stepson said not to tell his dad, that he would tell him.  So here I am, with husband now sleeping, and he still does not know that his son is nearing the time of deployment to this God-awful, senseless, maniacal, perverted, ill-fated, unjustifiable war in Iraq where innocent Iraqis by one hundred thousand and American by the thousands are dying because WHY???? Someone please give me an unabashed truthful, reasonable answer as to WHY we are even there?!  You must know that when the Bush admin even started talking about invading Iraq, I was 100 percent against it. I knew our presence there would only enrage, create a hornet's nest of more terrorists and fanatics, and lead to devastation for WHAT!?  To get rid of Saddam, to get the oil, to enrich Halliburton?!  None are good enough reasons to kill people.  This murdering bunch of thugs who are *elitists* sitting on their money, getting richer on the lives and deaths of our American troops....It's all too much for me.  As I said, I have been against this war before troops were even deployed, and my son has to go....very very sad day for us.  I pray for all those have gone before my son, and pray to the dear Lord that this will all end soon.  God forgive this prez for all the killing and misery he has caused for nothing, NO THING!

Who will get the Democratic nomination, and who will that person pick for a running mate?

Who will get the Republican nomination, and who will that person pick as a running mate?

Winner gets a 22K gold-plated crystal ball, and the top position on Wall Street..!!!l

Too early to tell, but this looks like a good start! =)

Wow. They let the loons out early this morning.
Either way, it is doubtful he is racist against his other half.
The paragraph about early retirement

That's where DH is. Forced to retire because of no work (road construction). The stimulus money went to 2 cities in my state. The rest of the state got nothing towards road construction or very little.

We didn't get last year's stimulus check because we owed taxes and they put the money towards that. Now he's getting screwed out of the $250 because he wasn't retired when this happened. Never fails.

Remember that cartoon of the guy always under the grey cloud? That's us.

Plan was made in early 1990's
The top neocons, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Perle were mulling invading the Middle East back in the early 1990's.  In the minutes of their meetings, they state they have to find a reason to invade, that Americans would not allow a war without a reason.  They got their reason with 9/11 and twisted the truth, lying and trying to convince the people, as they are still doing, that 9/11 and Iraq and Saddam are somehow connected.  These plans were set over 10 years ago.  It was and is for control of the Middle East and it's oil.  Funny thing happened, though, on the way to a war where the Iraqi's would meet our soldiers in the street with flowers, the Iraqi's didnt and the terrorists started multiplying and meeting our soldiers in the streets with bombs and guns..and with this war, what do we have to show for it?  An Iraqi constitution?  Oh please, based on Islamic law, not democracy.  Less rights for women than they had under Saddam.  Less rights for minorities.  An ancient country ravaged and destroyed by Bush's war.  People too afraid to venture outside, electricity, if you are lucky for an hour a few times a week, dirty water which they bathe in, drink, clean clothing and dishes in, tens of thousands dead, tens of thousands more maimed, no doubt psychological trauma for the Iraqi children for the rest of their lives..oil pipe lines being blown up..and that was supposed to pay for this war..All of this..FOR WHAT?  What the heck was this all for..Bush ought to be tried as a criminal..and he just might be in the future.
He peaked too early and is now unraveling. His downfall..

was not picking Hilliary and now I'm sure he regrets it.

Early "sex education" is not what some people are...sm
making it out to be.  It is actually teaching children of all ages, as early as kindergarten, to learn what is and is not acceptable behavior of adults toward them, that they should not hesitate to say no, yell, run away and tell, when anyone is inappropriate, especially in a sexual way, or makes them feel uncomfortable.  That is all.  Elizabeth Smart's father Ed Smart advocates the same thing.  Many, many children are traumatized every year because they are afraid to speak out when something like that happens.  I was one of them many years ago.  You might say that that is the parents' job.  I agree.  My mother did not warn me and I wish she had to say the least.  This criticism of Barak Obama is totally unwarranted, mostly made by republicans who jump the gun and do not get all the facts first. Shame on you!
She;s right, it is serious. There was one student from England who voted early...sm
in Ohio. I would definitely call that voter fraud, wouldn't you?

Heaven knows what they'll find out when they finally get down to it.

Acorn is really messing things up for everybody, both parties included. No matter who takes Ohio, obviously, there's going to be fraud going on. Not to mention all the other states with the same problem.

And before you go off on the fact that the link is from FoxNews below....try to remember the facts, that none of the other networks will cover this....because they're all in the tank for Obama.

Early voting down here in the Lone Star and already
trying to mislead democratic voters.  Hmmmm.
Hello. Early polls ARE the first phase of the election.
These are Americans. They were alive when they voted. A vote is a vote is a vote is a vote. They evidently took their citizenship very seriously. They should be afforded at least the respect to be taken seriously and be counted along with the rest of us. You, on the other hand...would you say this about your own mother or daughter? What is wrong with you?
Early studies show that regular smokers of pot, (don't know...sm
how regular regular is), seem to have less incidence of Alzheimer disease. If true, an interesting tidbit I thought.
Media in the tank for O,early voting in Ohio

May see an erosion of Dem support as early as 2010 election cycle.
Rasmussen is already showing some evidence of this as a generic Republican is beating a generic Democrat now by 2 points, rather than losing by 6 points as his poll showed a few weeks ago.

The best evidence of this in 2010 will not necessarily be Republican victories, although it might happen. The evidence will be that Democrats in "stronghold" districts will have to fight for their lives to get reelected and will have much smaller margins than they're used to. Others might have opposition from their own party and have to deal with a primary fight they're not used to.

I'm rather glad that the media and the Democrats have treated the tea-party phenomenon with such scorn and contempt. I'd rather that they continue to underestimate the opposition to what they're doing, and overestimate their own popularity. They will discover that the support of the American voter has never been something you can take for granted.

The Democrats are now in the process of doing just what the Republicans did in allowing the extreme elements of the party to take over and, just as voters showed the Republicans the error of doing this, the voters will teach the Democrats the same lesson. Hence, the pendulum.
after two days

of contemplation, I offer my opinion regarding the repub veep.  It is all just so much manufactured hype.  Unfortunately, repubs have had nothing to get excited about and had to watch on the sidelines as a hope and delight swept through the nation.  The repubs did kind of a bizarro world imitation of the real movement and forced McCain to pick a person he had met twice to create headlines.  Unfortunately, the hoopla is based on nothing.  It will die down soon and the Obama train will keep on rolling. The Jewish people will certainly not vote for a person who supported Pat Buchanan the rabid anti-semite.  Our older veterans will not take the chance of having a person in power who has not thought about foreign policy because she was too busy suing Bush to get the polar bears taken off the endangered list.   Mark my words, in 2 weeks the repubs will be chasing some pre-school friend of Obama in order to create another sensation.

Does anybody else, have days that you just wish...sm
could turn on the TV or the computer, and not hear something political....from either side....for just one day?

I think most people have made up their minds, or are close to it. But we get pounded every single day, by the candidates themselves, analyses of the candidates, ads that are misleading (by both parties, I believe, at times)....smear tactics...he said, she said.....I think that they meant..... etc......well, you all get my drift.

I'm to the point that I really only want to watch the debates, to see how they hold up there.

Anyways, I'm super busy this week, and anytime I even venture into where the TV is, my husband is watching financial shows on in the background, and gosh darn it, even all they do is interject political views.

Is it almost November yet???

The days of (sm)
ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country are long gone. Now it's all about gimmie. You're right, Kendra, it should be serious and respectful, but I'm afraid there's not much of that left these days, particularly for those in the government.
With less than two days to go
I just want to say a few final things. First off, I respect everyone's opinions on this board. The great thing about America is that we have the right to free speech. I just hope that we continue to have that right.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a day of fasting and prayer for those who do this. I hope that everyone who believes will be praying to God to put the right candidate in the white house. While many of us feel that it would be God's choice to have Mccain, there have been to many times when I have thought that God would have it one way and it's been the other. While I know that based on the Bible God would want me to vote against abortion and gay marriage, I still believe that if Obama wins he will be able to use him. If anything to bring the church to their knees and really seek forgiveness and revival.

While I am not voting for Obama, I will pray that he is kept safe. There are many people who will want to harm him simply for the color of his skin, and in this day in age that is awful, but still true nonetheless.

I hope that no matter the outcome of this election, we citizens can learn to put differences and party lines aside and work together to better this nation. Whoever wins is stepping into a big mess THAT BOTH SIDES HAVE CREATED and at some point we are ALL responsible for.

Lastly, I hope that after the election the tempers and name calling on this board can cease. We need to debate without bashing. I am just as guilty of getting hot tempered as anyone else, and I apologize for anytime I was out of line.

We are still in for some rough times, folks. I pray that God will keep us and help us through these troubled times.

Last but not least....

Good Luck to Mccain supporters, well wishes to Obama supporters! javascript:editor_insertHTML('text',''); LOL

Those were the days
There is no doubt in my mind that MQ is more profitable for the top level than TL ever was.  This is why it makes me so angry when people bash unions.  Without workers banding together and bargaining greed takes over and rich is never rich enough apparently.   I saw that a-hole Bill Gates testifying before Congress that he needed more top level (CHEAPER) workers because there weren't enough qualified Americans......sound familiar?  Unions may not be perfect but every benefit older workers like you and I received was won by the sweat of union workers who were willing to stand up for what was right and the benefits they won benefited even MTs, whether the newbies care to agree or not.  Unfortunately the unions have also become greedy and they care more about dues paying members than the rights of workers.  Just look at AAMT or whatever they call themselves now, they don't give a hoot about American MTs, they care about dues paying members whether they be Americans or Ethiopians!!!    AAARRRG.  I'm going to bed now.  I have a presentation to make to the Kiwanis at noon tomorrow which I had better get up early and prepare for or maybe I'll just wing it.  LOL

Interesting analysis. I'll just link to it since it would take far too long to list all of  Obama's screwups here.

scary days

I will not vote republican for multiple reasons going back to the Reagun administration and I think Palin is a joke. It's like Dubya trying to put Harriett Myers on the supreme court - WHAT!!!!!  Lies? Lets talk about lies. Like being led into a war with no end in sight due to LIES. Our children being slaughtered in that country for nothing - except maybe oil. Tax cuts? I don't know about you, but I'm not in the upper 10% tax bracket, so I didn't reap any benefits from the so-called "tax breaks." Lets not forget the worst deficit this country has ever seen all due to Dubya's reckless spending. And never, never, never forget Katrina. That was genocide. Let's toss in Bill Clinton's "sexual misconduct." Hmmm.....I don't want anyone in my bedroom. That was Hillary's problem - not the country's. But we have Foley playing footsie with the congressional pages, whatshisname and his wide stance in airport bathrooms and don't forget that religious nut who was good buddies with Dubya and visited the white house on occasion that was snorting meth and having sex with a male prostitute. How's that for family values????? No child left behind? What a crock. We have been manipulated over and over by the current administration as well as by the media. They swallowed the Kool-Aid, too; until Katrina. It took that disaster to open their eyes, but they seem to have closed again. We have the patriot act, no habeas corpus and if the republicans get in again, they will line up the supreme court with their right-wing fanatics who think that everyone should abide by their MORAL rules. You cannot legislate morality. And anyone with half a brain would realize that abstinence does not WORK. Palin's daughter for example. Take away birth control, take away abortion - who's going to pay for all of these kids? The republicans aren't going to fund any programs to help them. Lets just step back 50 years and start all over again. My God! Wake up!  You'll find more babies in dumpsters and illegal abortions will wend their way back into society creating more misery and death. I value my rights. I value the right to decide what is best for me. I don't think it is the right of our government to determine the outcome of my life. I guess it does take 8 years to ruin a country. Look how divisive everyone is. Voting republican is voting against your own best interests. The trickle down theory DOES NOT WORK. You will not benefit from any of these proposals - they are proposed to keep big corporations and greed on the upswing. My parents retired with good pensions - will you? My parents had great insurance that paid the WHOLE bill - do you? My mother made more money when she retired (20 years ago) than I do currently. Wages have not gone up. Gas has gone up. Groceries have gone up. The cost of living has gone up as well as insurance policies, medications. Corporate America treats its employees like slaves. There is no compassion - just greed. Vote republican and you will fall on your own sword. Bill Maher said it best "Americans are stupid and are getting stupider; they deserve the leader they elect." I am praying Obama who graduated from Harvard due to his own sweat and hard work gets elected. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth and he knows what it is like to be on the ugly end of the stick.

5 days and counting

Why won't Sarah Palin answer a spontaneous question from the press?  What is this candidate hiding?  How date the elitist repub party think they can railroad a candidate by us by dressing her in a skirt.

Meet the Press, Time Magazine, Today Show, Newsweek, George Stepanoupoulous. No soft balls like the View, Barbra WaaWaa or Fox propaganda machine.  We must stand up and demand answers from the repubs.  This is OUR country - demand accountability.
