entitlement

The Clinton administration made some pretty important changes in the Welfare system. In order to receive a welfare check - you have to work a 40-hour week per month and you earn $112 per person. As far as covering children with medical coverage - you have to be in a certain income bracket and I have no problem with making sure kids get medical care. I have no problem providing families who have hit hard times, the elderly or disabled with food stamps, so they don't starve. There is way too much misinformation spread about regarding welfare and entitlement programs. There are bums who get subsidized rent, etc., and cook meth to live like kings - but, in reality, the truly needy far outnumber the scum. Of course, those drug addicts usually procreate and the children suffer because the parents have no need for food and abhor medical care out of fear of being found out......My husband's father was a judge and he had to put an elderly couple in jail for stealing food.....I think it would have been cheaper to give them food stamps rather than tie up the legal system and house and feed them.

More entitlement mentality
Why should we have to evacuate people who went there on their own free will? Lebanon is not Hawaii. It's one of the most unstable countries in the world. This is definitely one risk they should have planned ahead for, but no, they fully expected that when all heck broke loose that the U.S should be on their doorstep immediately to evacuate them. They are complaining that they were asked to pay $200 to be evacuated!!! They paid their way in, so why not pay their way out? When a cruise ship comes to pick them up for their 3 to 4 hour ride to Crete they can only complain that they waited to long, it was hot, there were flies, and that the menu for the 3-4 hour ride was not up to their standards. Oh, they are lounging on the deck in bathing suits, but they are suffering so baaaad, and it's their government's fault. Ingrates.

To address what you said about Bush's articulation challenge I will say this. Talk is cheap no matter how articulate or inarticulate you are. Actions speak louder than words. You can be eloquent all day long, but if you never put any action behind what you say your pretty words are best left un-uttered.
