caput cecum
Subject: caput cecum

The doctor is dictating a colonoscopy and says "A biopsy was taken in the cap at cecum just below the ileocecal valve." Is it cap at cecum or caput cecum?  Or is it something else. He says it in almost every report. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thanks!!!!

about stools (sorry)
Subject: about stools (sorry)

Yep, it's a report on stools and the doc says no blood, s/l "pus mix," or melena (he says meh-LEEN-ah, but I think it's melena).  Does "pus mix" make sense?? As in pus *mixed* in?

Has anyone heard of biliary colic stools and if so what is it?
I might very well be biliary colic stools. sm
Subject: I might very well be biliary colic stools. sm

Is this a nephrology or urology patient? Or even a GI patient?

When you have gallbladder problems, liver problems, etc., the stools are usually a different color. They can be clay colored, black, tarry, yellow, green like baby stools, etc. So biliary colic stools could be right.

Don't laugh, I know it sounds stupid, but the only thing they always look at is the IC valve or appendiceal lumen, but it sounds just like that, the pole of Newman.

Typing in all caps is the equivalent of shouting. It will make people not want to listen or read or help. Just trying to give you a heads up.

Orthopedic surgeon is doing I&D and wound exploration on a patient with a comminuted tibial fracture and his leg is all messed up. So, the doc says "Tom, Dick, and Harry are all intact." I figure he said this because he was too lazy to list off the various structures he was encountering but maybe he was referring to some specific anatomy?

Okay.  I know the difference between mucus (n) and mucous (adj.), but I'm not sure if mucusy is a word.  My spell check accepts it, but I can't find it in a medical dictionary.  If not, any advice on how to recast this sentence?  Thanks!

For many years she has had mucusy, loose stools.

Recast and say "past four days." If you must have duration, it would be "four days'" as it's a plural possessive.
